Captains Cod in County Durham

Not sure about the negative reviews if they are genuine at all or they comes from Ritz fine dining regular guests with royalty expectations over a local fish & chips, anyway mine is positive, can’t fault them.

Ordered a seafood pizza to be delivered, they rang and said no prawns (again! This is the second time!) changed to chicken Kiev. Hardly any toppings, few bits of chicken, I paid extra for onions, barely any on, hardly any cheese on. Also the chicken souvlaki is full of grisly bits lately when I’ve had that. Sorry, won’t be ordering again!

Got a large bag of chips..... well if you can call it that! I would hate to see a small.... just as he finished making I asked if was large he said yes... so knew exact portion he was giving for £3

Ordered on just eat. Called an hour after we placed the order to tell us there was no bolognaise burger. Asked what we wanted instead. We asked for them to swap it to a kebab. They sent a burger with curry sauce as replacement for the bolognaise burger. Shocking communication and staff need to work on listening.

Chips hard and cold possibly reheated? plus got scrag ends. Not ideal for 4 children! Possibly warmed up from previous opening hours. Chicken nuggets cold and tasted funny.

Grandson recommended captains cod when he came to stay, we were not let down pizza were excellent, sauces tasty, and together with delivery on time, delivery lady friendly and careful due to present situation. Many thanks we will order again.l

Just had a delivery from here and I can honestly say it's one of the nicest fish I have ever tasted thanks its was lush captain cod 🤗🤗🤗

Ordered chips and fish bites in passing, great chips, lovely fish. Two days later ordered a pizza and a spam fritter with chips. Equally as good and good prices too! Well worth a try. It’s our new favourite local takeaway.
