A hidden .... micro brewery/pub/gastro delight! And also ..... frickin freezing! It's a curious mix of hidden gem meets surprisingly clever warehouse, never been to a place like this before and absolutely loved it. Food was great and an impressive variety of independent brewed drinks

Great craft beer bar with excellent food and a cracking venue for live events. All the food is handmade and cooked fresh with the great selection of beers brewed onsite. Everything from Belgian style sours to American IPAs. The staff are very helpful. Cheers!

Highly recommend Caps off. A bit tricky to find hidden away on an industrial estate but persevere because it’s class! We’ve been several times and service is always great. Staff are friendly, helpful and always grafting. They are super dog friendly with free water and treats readily available and even a dogs of the bar photo wall. The frozen strawberry daiquiris are fantastic! Food is outstanding and really well priced for the excellent quality. We’ve both eaten in and takeaway and never had any issue with orders or quality. It was crowded when we went for a gig but service was still very quick. Best bar in bish

Food was great, however the bar is an absolute shambles.I waited 20 min for a beer then the barman compleley ignored me and served someone who just walked upto the bar, so we immediatley left , I cant remember a bar ran more shabbily and disorganised, support your local business ! Why bother when they cannot even serve drinks in a correct and timely manner.

Great little place, but not the easiest to find. Lots of drinks on offer. Did get a dodgy pint of stout which was disappointing. Barman changed it without much fuss though.

Enjoyed a visit to Caps Off brewery for their beer festival while staying in Witton-le-Wear for a holiday. A great selection of Caps Off beers plus some guest bears. A nice chilled atmosphere and good service from the bar staff. Would definitely return for more beer. Cheers 🍻

Nice taproom, large choice and selection of alcoholic drinks, food also available, friendly staff, only downside is you need your own transport to the site.

Rude owner, needs to learn basic manners

Went to a charity gig last Saturday. Queue at the bar was about 30 minutes, queue for food about the same. No chips and luke warm small burgers. It was really busy, probably oversold but that is down to the organisers and the venue to address. The entertainment however was fantastic, a local band called 'Ded Wrongens. Would return if things were organised better.

Shortage of staff when we were there, lager was way to strong for me. Haha bit expensive.

Total chaos for the event on Saturday afternoon/evening, 35 minutes plus to be served at the bar..... Food queue was disgraceful and we waited/ queued over 30 minutes for a very small burger with no fries, utterly shameful, £10 for the charity event..... This company needs to rethink how it manages events. Only positive was the live band,Ded wrongenz, fantastic end to the evening.

Really enjoyable day out. Bishop Auckland is in the early days of a long-term, very determined effort to boost its fortunes which has already produced many admirable successes, not least of which is Caps Off. Its menu of great beers, some of which are superb, and good food are backed up by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Well worth the effort!

Street food and service excellent great choice of beers. More comfy seating would be good, great place. Dog friendly means would go back.

Great little brewery. Visited for a family christening as the after church celebration was here. Plenty of choice for the ales. I had the pale ale and it was fantastic. The buffet they provided was a mix of hot/cold choices and it was delicious. Plenty of parking available outside and a great location away from town.

Caps off brewery is very well laid out inside. Brewery on one side and then bar and kitchen on the other. Seating, there are tables and benches to sit on. There is also a sofa area as well. Inside there is plenty of patio heaters to keep the building warm. Bar wise, Caps Off own beers to chose from and they have a varied range and are always excellent beers. Food is rotational on a Saturday with different food vendors coming in. Saturday nights will occasionally host bands as well. It’s one of the best tap rooms around and is really worth the effort to find it.

Food not served at the time of visit so I can't comment. Nice selection of real ales and other alcoholic drinks.

Beautiful food and a lovely selection of craft ale. Dog friendly and for me the best bit is it's right on the train station in Bishop Auckland so you can pop there from nearby Shildon and Aycliffe in the train very easily. Love this place. Update November 2022 Check before you head for food that it's on, if you're wanted grub with your beer. Last couple of times the food hasn't been on when we've popped along, not realising ☹️ Still love the place though ❤️

Fine selection of beers from far and wide, some strong and some very strong. Didn't try the food but it looked good and was very popular. Worth dropping in if you are passing by.

Bit of an odd location but great beer inside. I also think they keep a kidnapped 3 star Michelin chef in the box outside as the food is amazing

Big fan of Caps Off: bar food extremely well done, excellent range of great beers many of which are brewed in house and a cantina style inside/outside aesthetic. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly too. A really refreshing alternative to the typical local pub.

5 stars for the food, however the craft ales I tasted weren't to my liking but if I had more time I probably would have found something to suit my pallet

Chicken was average at best and burger patties were very dry. Chips were really nice. Quite expensive for the quality of food. Maybe I went on an off day as I tried this place off the back of good reviews.

Came here for a dog walk event, was a lovely atmosphere, good selection of gin and beers and staff were very friendly. Will definitely visit here again.

Great little bar, really casual and modern looking. Relaxed atmosphere. There's so much choice it can be overwhelming, but you can take your time to choose what to drink and staff are helpful. Quite expensive but I suppose that's to be expected with craft beers.

Wonderful cosy & welcoming environment with a huge variety of Beer & Spirits. There is also freshly brewed Coffee available which is delicious, 10x better quality than anything else in the area. The staff are polite and helpful, Chloe was on hand to answer any questions I had regarding various beers. I will definitely be returning to Caps Off, a fantastic local business with quality products and top customer service.

Fantastic range of craft beers and lagers, also and extensive range of spirits. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, also the staff are very knowledgeable and approachable. Caps off is just what Bishop has needed.

Thir is a wide range of craft beers on sale either to drink there or to take home with you. There are promotions for draught beer and although it is a small place attached to the station there is plenty of seating at high tables. I didn't use the lavatory. As well as beer spirits are served. Not sure if wine is available. Staff are knowledgeable.

Cracking wee "pub". Phenomenal range of quality ales, craft beers and continental bottles. Can be a touch pricey, however this does seem to deter the usual Bish rabble.

A great bar with an extensive selection of spirits and ales. The drinks are reasonably and competitively priced, using high-quality spirits and mixers. Whilst small, the bar had a great aesthetic, both cosy and modern. Well behaved dogs are also welcome inside It is important to note that the seating and tables are high, which may impact accessibility and the overall experience for those with disabilities and/or children. However, the bar has a wheelchair accessible entrance and is sufficiently spacious to navigate. The bar is also a 'bottle shop', selling a great selection of unique, locally (and not so locally) sourced alcoholic beverages and mixers. Located at Bishop Auckland Train Station, the bar is an excellent place for a pre-travel tipple.
