Very busy Friday night around 6 to 7 when I visited. I recommend ordering in advance. Slow service but everything was cooked fresh. Price was reasonable. My only issue was the fish was very greasy.

Gross, stale chips. Couldn't eat them. Waited 15 minutes for them to serve them. Worst core I've ever had. Asked for lots of salt and vinegar and got none. Overpriced with small portions. Wouldn't recommend.

Ordered 2 large kebabs ( cost over £18)The meat was disgusting. I Think it had been in the tray from the night before and warmed up, I was a regular customer and when I went in the next time I mentioned this to the lady that was serving and she said she would report it. The next time I went in I ordered a bag of chips at £3.50 and had my card, she said I had to spend £5 to use the card. I won’t be back.

The very best fish and chips I’ve had. Homemade menu and the homemade tartare sauce is the best thing since sliced bread.

Friendly staff. Portion sizes are enormous. Telephone ordering can be frustrating as phone not always answered. Ordering via website is simple however it does have issues with time selection often showing next available collection a couple of hours ahead. Plus ordering & paying in advance doesn’t speed up collection, be prepared to still stand and wait beyond selected collection time. One bag of chips is enough for 2-3 people. We usually order 3 fish & 2 chips always lots of food left over.. it’s not cheap these days for a takeaway fish & chips .. last carry out was over £31 for 3 fish and two bags chips. Personally I’d like to see portions sizes reduced to smaller individual portions and prices adjusted accordingly. Everytime we have lots of food left over that ends up in the bin.

Efficient, very warm welcome, home made tar tar sauce and fish cakes were a different level. Drove 30 minutes to have another one of their fish cakes! Cheddar and leek is one to order! Queue was out the door but the service was quick and quality was fantastic.

I recently placed an online order totalling £55.00 which was to be collected. When I got home part of the order was missing even though I'd asked if the order was completed. When I eventually spoke to a member of staff to get a refund, shop is 10 miles away, I was told I'd receive a call back from the owner. Which I never got

I do not recommend to anyone with allergens, including gluten (despite such a big deal being made about the gluten free menu). We tried to order there for the first time tonight, and because my partner suffers from several food allergies, we obviously needed to discuss this on the phone before ordering (including the extent to which gluten is used in the kitchen). We tried to call them for about half an hour (10 calls, spaced out), and tried to contact them via Facebook. We got a few words on Messenger about them checking, then radio silence. Because of this, we could not safely place an order with them. Their website clearly states that you should call to ask about allergens, but obviously this was just a token comment. I understand that places get busy, but for the sake of a minute on the phone to allow people with allergens to access this restaurant, it's unacceptable. Even putting other common allergens on the menu would have been helpful. Very disappointed, and will make sure to share our experience with other gluten free / food allergy social media groups for the area, so other people with don't waste their time.

Very nice, lovely fish not a bone in sight. Chips a bit dark, but still nice, lashings of salt and vinegar what more do you want, well recommend.

How does a fish and chip shop on the outskirts of an old deprived mining town get to charging over £10 for take away fish and chips? And might I say, the chips were bland as could be. I can get the same (but delightfully tasty) meal at Papa John's in Whitby, and pay less than you do here. What more needs to be said!

5* service and 5* food absolutely amazing, shop is always immaculate food is always fresh and piping hot, staff are amazing and it’s just as good eating in or taking out. Been a customer for many years the best chippy I’ve been too. Highly recommend.

Easily the best chipper in Consett area. All of the food is home made, but can be hit and miss. Overall I'd recommended a visit. The classics are certainly good and a lot of effort is made to stand out. Most chippers in the area score a 1 or a 2, so 4 is a good score.

Good food. Worth the price. We had Veg burger and breaded cod fish. Service is nice and fast. Great choice of dips. Parking is little difficult; we parked on the opposite kerb.

Food is lovely, customer service is none existent, wait times are beyond the joke, order for a specific time and they still have you waiting more than 20 mins after accepted time. No apology. Do not expect fast pleasent service from here

Don’t be put off if you see the shop busy, it’s because they’re cooking everything fresh to order and the fish is always cooked so well. Very friendly staff and home made brownies are delicious. The kebabs are huge, you also get the option of a free portion of chips or pot of sauce. Notes: Card and cash accepted. Order on the app or in person. Street parking available. Lunchtime offers.

Best Fish n Chips in the UK nevermind the North East. Fish is cooked to order just how you like it. Portions are so large I've never known anyone finish a whole meal. Amazing choice of other foods on the menu with monthly specials. Great value Lunchtime Specials and the kebabs are something else. Can't rate this shop, food and staff highly enough. You won't be disappointed.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had! We eat here at least once a week. The quality of food is so much better than any of the other chippys around Consett. Highly recommend the fish and chips, cod leak and cheddar fishcake and the cheese patty!

Best fish and chips in the area, but make sure you order ahead especially on a Friday, or else expect a long queue! Generous portions and a very varied menu of other options if fish is not your thing.

I collected an online order today at 4.30pm Normally the quality is 2nd to none, today however was not up to scratch. The fish was smaller and chip portion also smaller. I live 5 minutes away and they were both luke warm when opened. I noticed that the fish and chips were in the heated cabinet when I was served this may have had a difference with being warm them being warm not hot.

I'm not sure how this place makes a profit!! The portions are HUGE!!.... even a kid's meal is massive!! All the staff are great and very helpful. Our food is always lovely. We don't have take aways very often but we only ever go back to the one's that are consistent in all area's. Thank you xx Update..... Was in today. By far the best fish and chip shop in the north east. As we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff. Straight away we were asked if we wanted anything putting in the Lan. By the time it was our turn to be served the food came out of the pan. Looked lovely. Golden and crispy batter coating. Must try their home blend of Tartare sauce. Chips were piping hot. We came from North Shields. Best we've ever had. Once a month job for the Cooke's

Called in here for fish & chips as an easy meal, Wow, the fish was the size of a whale and tasted as good as it looked, beautiful white succulent flakey fish, wrapped in a beautiful thin and crispy batter, chips were just as good, didn't wait to long to be served either. I would highly recommend this fish & chip shop and will definitely be returning.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fish n chips are OK, not exceptional in any way. Tonight I stood for a very long time, I was asked what I wanted and they were frying the fish as you ordered it. People were going into the shop to place an order staying there and getting served before those, like me who have waited. They are taking telephone orders as well, I was asked 3 times what I wanted and when I got to the counter there wasn't any fish cooked. There were about 10 people behind me, the fish was taken out of the fat and packed, no time given for it to drain, a soggy mess. My suggestion, 1 person deals with the on line orders, its a fish shop, just cook the fish, give it time to drain and serve customers in the order that they arrive. For sure I will never go there again,
