Excellent food. We were the only people in which led to a bit of a lack of atmosphere.

Enjoyed our visit here.sampled three different specials which were not cheap but very well presented and tasty. We sat in the conservatory overlooking the harbour and would return. Free parking close by.

Hidden gem. Reasonably priced, excellent small plates—so much food. Never had a tastier olive and the wine was amazing. We had a bit of everything and can not recommend it more.

I got in just in time for last food order at 19:00 and ordered two veggie dishes (classic patatas bravas and honey glazed fried aubergine). As a vegetarian I am used to disappointment in Highland eateries but this was AMAZING food, hot, fresh, flavourful and I cannot recommend this place enough! An unexpected delight! Highly recommend to vegetarians.

Superb place to eat before getting on the ferry and very good value for money. Top quality tapas with a great seafood selection. It was so good we stopped for lunch here on the way back from Orkney as well.

Tucked away in the harbor area of ​​Thurso is a restaurant where you are served the most delicious tapas! We were warmly welcomed when we took shelter from a rain shower and had our dinner here and it was delicious!

Decent food. Most of the dishes we had were deep fried, yet each had a different tasty breading. The sauces were appropriate, but not very interesting. Service was quick and helpful.

Absolutely amazing Tapas restaurant! Great food, fantastic service, pleasant surroundings and cheery, efficient staff! What's not to love! Also fabulous is the gluten free and vegetarian options.

I'm Spanish so I try to avoid tapas bars out of Spain because it's usually disappointing. But this place wasn't, all the food that I ate was delicious

We were on the NC500 and stopped at Scrabster for some food. We chose the Capilla and boy we weren't disappointed. We had a variety of fish dishes. Oysters, Scallops and the dressed crab. It was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or evening meal.

Excellent family lunch, a bit of Spain in Thurso, good and abundant paella, delicious meat, fish and vegetable tapas, all fresh. If you are in the area I recommend a stop.

My absolut recommendation for real northern Scotland. We came here without reservation and the team did everything to welcome our party of six. Attentive and determined waiters supported us to the most possible extent and really enjoyed us constantly and enthusiastically ordering new Tapas. Really nice Food - amazing Tapas!

This is a pleasant place that stands on good idea. The realisation could be otherwise improved. The ratio between quantity and price of the varius options is unbalanced. If they are tapas the should cost less, or if they are real courses they shoud be larger. The quality as well is average, the flavours are too strong and not easily to handle. The service as well could be improved trying to be more diligent and kind.

Just love this restaurant. Foods fantastic. Been a highlight of my Thurso trips for years. You can usually trust a place if it's full of locals. Small restaurant so I would advise you to book ahead especially in the summer months. Right on the Scrabster Harbour quayside. Lots of large and small fishing boats plus one of the Orkney ferries and the big RNLI lifeboat operate from the piers next to it. Great place to stroll around but If you'd rather have a wine than a walk it's a busy working harbour so there's lots to see from Cappila's or the pub next door's beer gardens. Go out the front door and 5 min walk past the fish processing factories you'll find a hidden gem of a large sandy beach surrounded by steep cliffs.

Convenient for the ferry - perfect for lunchtime arrival, a bit tight for departure, but open just in time for takeaway to take aboard for departure. (The ferry canteen was happy to provide cutlery, crockery and napkins on departure, and we ate on the ferry with wine from the bar.)Well worth the effort, but even easier on arrival. either way.

The food was really great and they have a unique way of cooking that makes it great for people who like food spicy and authentic.

Visited on Tuesday 26th Sept. 2023 at 1250 - CLOSED - no reason given. Their website, voicemail, Google and other sites said it should be open. Drove a 110 mile round trip to be there. Shameful.

While being here on holiday (from the US) we stumbled across this wonderful restaurant. The seafood was fresh, cooked to perfection and the service was amazing.

Had the twisted king prawns from the specials board.. probably the best prawns I've ever had!. I also had calamari which was perfectly cooked. Husband ordered cheese filled haggis balls and creamy chicken croquettes.. also delicious. Wonderful unexpected pitstop. Thank you 😁

1st visit to Capilla Tapas and I wasnt diappointed. The staff were attentive the food was lovely and the Sangria is a must. Booking your table is advisable as always busy. Definately recommend this gem of a restaurant

Wow, just wow!!! What a fabulous little gem hidden in Scrabster. The atmosphere - you could actually be in Spain, the staff - friendly, helpful and attentive really couldn't have been any better, the food is literally to die for!!! You must try the black pudding and chorizo. The fish comes straight from the harbour across the road, you couldnt get any fresher. A must visit if you're in the area! There's a quiet little beach close by too.

Visited for the 1st time and what a great Tapas with a great harbour view with lovely staff who were really helpful and pleasant. Ordered plenty which arrived really quickly and it all looked and tasted beautiful. We even ordered more as the menu was one of the best we've seen. Great pudding selection to finish us off😉 Well recommended to anyone visiting or living in the area and we will most definitely be visiting again in the very near future. Keep it up guys 👍🏼

An excellent meal with great service, the menu was good with plenty of specials available too. We had a table in the window so were able to watch the activities of the harbour while enjoying our meal. The dessert menu was extensive & delicious too. Highly recommend a visit but be sure to book well in advance.

My sons review: Very nice. My favorite were the prawns. All the staff were very nice as well, we had a nice chat. 😀 Mum and dad also though the food was excellent with a good choice of wine to boot!!

Food was great, service amazing, but sadly everything was prebooked so I couldn't stay long to enjoy it.

Cosy and delightful. Relaxed atmosphere. The girls were attentive, pleasant and efficient. Our food was tasty, hot and freshly cooked. Large glass of red wine delicious and very reasonably priced (I can't remember the name but it was recommended by our waitress). We will book again next time we're in Scrabster.

Lovely place in a quirky location. A must visit if you are in or around Thurso, especially if you are stopping overnight for the early ferry (eg cyclists). This row of places near the port could really take off with quality venues like this. Well done for basing yourself here, port areas are often dead spaces.

Food was ok I was so looking forward to albondiga soup, it it came on a little plate with sauce. Calamari was average, especially being so close to the sea. Kind of glorified fish fingers.

The scallops are probably the best in galaxy, if not the entire universe. Worth a trip from London for that alone.

Fully booked for evening meals at two sittings sadly (and this on a Thursday in March!) so I just had coffee and a dessert on the outside tables. First class - wish I could dine here tonight - tapas menu looks brilliant, specials include scallops, whitebait... Lovely spot right on the fishing Harbour.

Was recommended to try the crab with potatoes and the aubergine with honey and pine nuts. I was not disappointed, they were delicious (including the other dishes we had). The staff were chatty and friendly and even ordered a taxi for us.

Overpriced vegetarian food. Very disappointed, my partner is italian and we have never eaten mayo in a potato dish before??!!

How surprising to find a Spanish restaurant in Northern Scotland! And a very good one at that; the tapas are delicious, the wine list including sangria is impressive, and the place is decorated really nicely, with huge paella pans on the walls.

Well it’s true, coming to Scotland to eat tapas made in Spain from Scotland, you had to do it, we did it! And not disappointed, if we put ourselves in the context of a Spanish restaurant abroad, not bad at all. The ailloli is excellent with bread and olives, the tapas are good but not necessarily like in Spain but it goes well, it's good, that's the main thing. A very good wine, Verdejo to taste ;) The desserts are not at all Spanish but very good!

Full of kids occupying tables for minimal drinks. And when you can finally sit down.... God, coming here thinking that these are tapas from your land.... It's a mistake. They are not like ours, they taste like Scotland. Not to Spain. If you are looking for Spain it is a mistake. We will not repeat. Kilometers traveled for this disappointment.... With the number of places there are in Thurso.....

Four of us went for an evening meal and the food was lovely, will be going again, only thing that let it down was that we asked for the bill to be split, which was a mistake, we were charged for four lots of bread even though we only ordered two lots between the whole table and also charged £2 for one glass of water, only noticed it all on the bill when we got home, so couldn't challenge it at the time. Apart from that it was an amazing experience.

We had a wonderful experience at Capilla. We selected the chilli & garlic prawns; aubergine chips; calamari and meat balls. All the meals were tasty and well cooked. The dessert menu was ample as well. The drinks menu was varied. Staff were extremely helpful. You will need to book for dinner. Overall everything was great.

This was alright for the area, a little salty tasting but a modern take on tapas cuisine, the dessert was amazing.

This place was strongly recommended by our landlady in Thurso and she called to get us a lunchtime booking. We were not disappointed. Warm welcome on arrival and a good choice of meat, veg or fish tapas. We had the potatoe, meat ball, prawns, chicken with honey and chorizo with black pudding tapas. All very tasty.. The portions are big so maybe 4 tapas between two would be sufficient and allowing room for one of the many dessert options. We tried to go back another night but sadly fully booked. Would strongly recommend this restaurant but book in advance.

Nice vibe well decorated would work for a casual beer and snacks or for a more formal occasion. Good food and great desserts, not bad value either. Service was good although we were brought a round of beers on two occasions when only I ordered one. It's a small place though and was almost booked out on a Tuesday night.

I wasn't sure what to expect from here for lunch, so we ordered 4 dishes. When lunch first came out, I thought 'where's open to get lunch after this', but it was filling & very tasty. There was 3 of us & we ordered 4 dishes: garlic prawns, calamari, octopus & black pudding with chorizo. Definitely going back now I know what to expect from here. The octopus wasn't over cooked & rubbery. It was cooked perfectly. The dishes we tried were very tasty & cooked nicely. We had bread, aioli & olives & 2 puddings (forgot to photograph). The staff were lovely, polite & helpful.

Visited here last month for a work dinner night. The staff were very friendly and the place has a really cosy, quirky atmosphere to it. We ordered a variety of dishes and had pre-ordered the seafood paella, which all came together and in good time. The paella was huge, considering there were 3 of us booked in for it, and tasted amazing! Very happy with the service and evening in general, will definitely come back and bring my hubby with me.

Beautiful food, restaurant is a little small so if you are unlucky to get a seat mid Isle then make sure you are ready to tuck your arms in and eat cramped up. Other than that it was tremendous to find good food that's not just a regular pub meal

Totally unexpected to find a top quality tapas restaurant in a tiny, Highland fishing port. First rate, authentic tapas. Great family restaurant. Geordie chef with roots in Spain explains the authenticity of the menu. Can't recommend highly enough. ♥️
