Still an excellent chippy, selling great fish and chips, reasonably priced if you visit the shop. Online, it's dearer but that's not unusual, suffice to say you can still get a good feed for two people for under 20 quid.

£17.50 for fish & chips, 3 onion rings, curry sauce & can of pop. Deliveroo with fees brought it up to £22. Onion rings & sauce very good. Pop beautifully ice cold. But fish & chips a bit insipid & bland. Maybe they were just having an off day or something? Not too fussed about buying again, just meh

the thing I have found with chippies is that portion sizes are smaller than you'd expect. I often (because Im greedy) order extra portion or a side sausage ... not here. I have done that and it goes to waste. lovely chips gravy and fish and decent size portion so you don't need extras (if you do they will be nice though)

The food wasn't bad, it was ok. A small fryer, and the prices weren't the lowest.

I thought at first it was great chippy, but quality varies depending on who's cooking,today Saturday there was no fish in the fish and batter was soggy not very good for 18 quid

What happened guys! Spent around 37quid this evening. Nearly all of it is in teh bin. Absolute disgusting horrible soggy brown chips. Soggy batter with a watery fish inside that wasnluke warm in the middle that also had a horrible fishy smell that you get from bacteria. Batter was soggy inside on teh battered sausages. Only thing that tasted nice was the curry sauce. Last time we had this it was really nice and we thought we found a great chippy but honestly won't come again now it was vile I'm afraid to say.

Absolutely love this place. Gorgeous food, lovely staff. I struggle to order food a lot due to some complicated food allergies, the manager was very accommodating, made sure I could order what I wanted without the allergens which was amazing. Most places just tell me they can’t and turn me away. Highly recommend! Best food I’ve had in a long time💕

Paid and Ordered over £50 worth of food to be delivered at 6pm. Nothing arrived, tried calling for over an hour but no answer. Ended up driving down to collect the food myself at 7.30pm. Got home food was cold had to be put in the microwave and noticed part of the order was missing. Never again.

Best gluten free fish and chips around. I go twice a week and highly recommended it.

GLUTEN FREE Fish & Chips - OUTSTANDING!!! - **SEE EDIT BELOW** Cantilever Chippy is now also offering Gluten Free Fish & Chips - excellent portion sizes, and well worth a visit. Cooked separately in healthy Olive Oil (which you can really taste!), just brilliant. I've waited ages for a Warrington Chip Shop to start doing decent Gluten Free options, (there are others but some are very mean with portions another is a rip-off), Cantilever have finally come up trumps. Tastes absolutely fantastic, the best I've tried for a long long time. Well worth a visit if you're G. F. and missing a decent chippy meal. Ring them before you go to check on waiting times for G.F. frying. **EDIT** Check with staff before ordering re cross-contamination of oil with gluten-containing products. My original review was for the superb GF food, fried in OLIVE OIL in a SEPARATE fryer by the original owner. After he left, his replacement wasn't careful on this point and used the same fryer for all items (hence NOT gluten free owing to cross-contamination - NOT good for Coeliacs!!). Also NOT Olive Oil (too expensive). I stopped going for over 2 years after this, I have since been assured this has been sorted out but sadly I lost confidence .

Called in one lunchtime for some chips, server proceeded to put chips on paper, i looked and said ‘ what’s that, can’t eat them, look like they’ve been there days, put them back I’ll wait for some fresh ones. Seriously put out and the trio started whispering. They put fresh ones out and they looked just as bad, just re-fried scraps. I said I wouldn’t feed them to a dog and asked for money back, which they gave me. Overall bad attitude, bad food, bad experience. Will never return or recommend.

Not the best. Fish was regular but rather small and tasteless. Chips portion for large was considerably less than Sea Breeze and The Trawlerman so I I’ll stick with those in future. Peas were bland too. As a couple w e both agreed it wasn’t that nice

actual fresh fish and chipd for once

I spent nearly £30 for a large portion of chips that would barely feed one, gravy that was like water, halloumi chips that was just 3 small slithers. The salt and pepper chicken nuggets were just tasteless chicken nuggets. I have always liked this chippy in the past, but will never waste my money again.

Having spent the day at Tatton park classic car there were three very hungry adults, we had 2 portions of cod, 1 potion of chicken nuggets and three potions of chips, sneaked them into the hotel and wow haven't had fish and chips in ages, really enjoyed them, only thing I will say is fish could have done with a little more batter on it, price wise was OK, only £22.00. Thank you.

I ordered food for 4 people tonight which cost me £50. We all had fish and chips- I had the gluten free fish and chips. The portions were tiny - even though 2 of the meals were supposedly large. The gf fish was dry and like rubber- it ended up in the bin. The 3 other people also complained the fish was dry and couldn’t be eaten. I will never order from here again and shall also leave this review on the celiac fb page I am a member of! If I could leave zero stars - I would

I order Large Cod and large chips. The cod was excellent, a good size with a nice batter, chips were a decent amount and tasted ok. Staff were busy and were polite.

Not my usually experience from here. Chips were bad had eyes, tasted rubbery. Must have been a bad batch of potatoes. Normally one of the best in Warrington. Sausage was a proper chippy sausage.

Its our daughters birthday and we decided to come here for our family tea. After spending 67.00+ on our order, we were very disappointed with the food we received. The chips and fish looked as though they been cooked over and over again. Half of this went in the bin, the cats think it was there bday with all the fish they got. I have always recommended this chippie in the past but unsure if I would come here agin

lovely local chippy, friendly staff and amazing food.

Not to our liking, had to wait nearly an hour and a half for 2 fish, chips, curry and peas. Didn't get the peas (Gravy delivered) after the wait wasn't impressed fish was slimy with way to much batter ended up binning most of it. Chips were fine only just warm though, Curry was lovely. won't be rushing back unfortunately.

Came up from London to buy a car, wanted a bite to eat and found this chippy, told them about dietary requirements and they understood wit I wanted, really good food, fish was fresh and batter was nice, customer service great as well, friendly people behind counter. Recommended

Poor quality chips. Like old oven chips.

Had a sudden fish curry and chips craving. Fish (cod) was fried in palm oil while I waited. Sampled both currys while I waited both tasted excellent , went with the fruity one. Same family owned the chippy for 20 years. Chips were thick and crisp, batter was crunchy cod was succulent and thick.. 8 pound all in for a very large meal. Friendly knowledgeable staff a steady stream of customers even late in the evening. Delicious.

Not sure what's happened to the chips here, used to be great but on the last few visits they were like pre cut frozen. Fish is good and friendly staff.

The 3 stars are for Richard, who went above and beyond for us, but sadly this place isn't for us. I expect potatoes to be properly chipped and for batter to be properly cooked. However, everyone has different tastes and I wish you guys well.

Not the cheapest chippy around but you'll struggle to find one as nice as this place. Particularly the fish, which are a decent size and are actually majority fish rather than a mound of batter like some other chippys in the local area.

I think the fact that this place is always busy speaks for itself.

Do not use this chippie - they are a shambles, appalling service tonight. I ordered a few hours ahead via Just Eat for myself to collect food at 6.15pm. I arrive on time, huge queue as usual on Friday night ; especially being Good Friday ; that’s why I ordered online! My food wasn’t ready! I waited 10 mins to be told it would be ready in one minute - 15 mins later they still hadn’t prepared my order! I asked again & the guy behind the counter just smiled & shrugged his shoulders - like “ Final straw I walked away & I’ll be getting full refund from Just Eat! Don’t give fxxk!” Attitude ! Well you’ve lost my business, And be warned don’t order from chippie !

This chippie USE to be really good but has gone down hill quite rapid. Slimy fish, watery peas and gravy and chippings not chips. Bring back the older guy and I'll probably return but for now, I wouldn't bother.

Not what it was, seems to have gone down market, large portions just not as good as it was.

Does provide gluten free battered fish (fried separately) but would recommend coeliacs go inside to make sure they don't keep it in the heated cabinet with the rest of the food. I had to ask for a fresh one and mentioned cross contamination which they were more than happy to do! Portions are great!

Probably the largest portion of fish and chips I have ever been served. I have a large appetite but it took me two goes to finish it all. Quite pricey but you certainly get your monies worth and smaller servings are available. The quality was good without being mind blowing. The fish was nice but the batter could have been more crunchy. If you are hungry, this is the place to go.

Able to order over the phone, huge portions, really tasty food, and not too oily!! The staff were all friendly and quick to assist too. I wish they had haddock as an option for fish and the peas weren’t great, but overall a really good fish and chips Friday!

Staff are really nice and helpful. Was a little disappointed with my gluten free fish tonight. Its great they do GF but the batter was very crunchy and some had no fish in so was just a block of batter 😔 maybe needs to be cooked slower as gluten free batter is slightly different? X

After waiting to try this chippy for years, I can honestly say it was the worse fish and chips we have ever had! The portions were ample but the fish was dry, had a peculiar taste and the batter was hard and inedible. The chips looked as though they had been cooked for a while and were like scraps.The mushy peas had no taste and were a strange luminous green colour. Safe to say we won't be going out of our way to go back for more. However the staff were very pleasant,polite and helpful.
