The bacon from here is unreal, it doesn’t shrink like shop bought. Their bread is gorgeous and their cakes are hard to resist. Always call in when I’m in North Shields.

Read the reviews, most of which were positive, and thought we’d give it a try. First & last time. Bought several items, including stotties, loaf cake, millionaires shortbread, florentines & Viennese whirl. The only passable items were the bread and the farmhouse (fruit) loaf - although even this was way too soft and just fell apart when trying to slice it. The shortbread was tasteless and seemed to suffer from a lack of quality ingredients. The florentines were also underwhelming. Too thin, too little chocolate, over-baked & lacking the unctuous texture it requires. Didn’t even try the Viennese whirl although my wife pronounced it ‘disgusting’, so I’m glad I didn’t.

Had a Cornish pasty and Viennese whirl for lunch. Absolutely fantastic! As I was visiting family I took some bread cakes back home (Wistow near Selby). 9pm last night they were demolished with tuna mayo filling. I was seriously impressed with the quality, like stepping back to a bygone era. Oh how I wish I could find a similar store in Yorkshire. Keep up the good work, your efforts are greatly appreciated!

I have recently used Canatrice for food for my grandsons christening and everything was amazing. Mrs Ward who helped me was so lovely the whole experience was brilliant can’t recommend the bakery enough!

A wonderland of real home baked cakes and proper pasties, it's like being transported back in time to when bakeries only sold good stuff! Can't recommend highly enough

Beautiful bread buns! Peach melba as a treat looked nice, tall, iced, full of cream with one teeny weeny piece of peach, about a quarter of a sliver right in the bottom which I searched for. This doesn't deserve the name peach melba, its dominated only by cream with a coat of coloured icing and no peach taste whatsoever. Very disappointed in something that looked so nice. Eclairs are nice though.

Myself, my sister and my mum came for a meal after visiting the markets. We hadn’t pre-booked but they had ample room for us anyway. The venue itself is beautiful and the service was impeccable, making it a very pleasant experience. All of our food came promptly and perfectly cooked. My sister and I had a burger whilst my mum had steak frites, all three portions were plenty (not all of us managed to finish the meal) which made the prices perfectly acceptable. My burger was delicious and unsurprisingly an award winner. It is a dog friendly establishment, including in the dining area, not that we minded but is helpful to note. As a whole, we had a very enjoyable time and we have collectively decided to come again soon, I can’t wait!

Nice little cafe, pleasant staff but over £7 for an egg mayonnaise sandwich with a salad garnish was a bit pricey I thought. The sandwich was ok but just normal brown bread with a non too generous filling.

Fourth visit here and I love this restaurant. Spring rolls followed by vegetable chow mein and finished with biscoff cheesecake. Delicious and very reasonable – my friend loved it so much she has already made a return visit. See you again soon!
