Very cool settings in a church. Food was great, especially considering the price of the fixed menu. So much food..., could not finish!! Will be back!

We had been here before about 6 years ago and we’re not that impressed. Decided to give it another try and boy what a change . Food was excellent, prompt and service could not be faulted. I would definitely recommend.

The setting is stunning. Food seemed good when we consumed it the first time. However two of our party had gastroenteritis symptoms afterwards. One could be excused, two is not a coincidence.

Visited for a meal for 2 for a special occasion. This place has a fabulous character and it’s an amazing space. I will not spoil it by giving you the detail. The service is quick, the waiters are very attentive and the food is just amazing. A brilliant experience for my first time. I will definitely be returning with friends.

Last Saturday, my husband, grandson, and I had a delicious meal at Calcutta Brasserie as always. Friendly service and great atmosphere.

Visited this place after a colleague who lives locally recommended, amazing setting, friendly attentive staff but in no way intrusive, wonderful flavoursome food, I had the Corri gosh, basmati rice and keema naan, perfect portion size, fast service and reasonably priced to boot. Definitely one to visit, lots of different dishes on the specials list to which I haven’t come across before, I wanted to try several!

It's nice and delicious. After all, staff and management are excellent. Beautiful place and traditional church building. Charming nature and excellent foods and staff.

Worked perfectly. Parked right outside on a row of EV chargers. Characterful approach and interior, friendly efficient helpful staff. High grand interior but also cosy tables in half booths on higher level. Extensive menus. We had a couple of veg platters ample for the four of us followed by good selection of meals. We were here for about an hour which fitted neatly with our schedule. Very enjoyable. Surprised that it came to no more than £20 each inc booze. Recommended

Food was ok. Speed of service was fine. However being treated by a waiter so rudely was not . No welcome , no smile. No please . No thank you. No warmth, no friendliness. The 10% service charge was automatic and this bloke certainly didn’t deserve a tip. It’s not tricky… make customers feel like guests

There are many Indians to choose from in Stony Stratford and surrounding areas however Calcutta is up there with being one of the best. Service is second to none, you will receive the warmest welcome. Each dish was delicious, very tasty, served lovely and hot with great flavours. Good one and atmosphere too, in a beautiful building. Excellent interior, delicious food, great service! The restaurant is inside a former chapel with artwork on the ceiling and walls. It was a great experience and we will be going back if we're in the area

Thought we'd give this place another go, after their brief foray into a 1 star food hygiene rating. They are now back at 5 stars. The building is a converted church/monastery (I'm not sure) but the architecture and artwork on the walls is stunning; it's a great setting for a restaurant. We went with some friends who had not been before and they too were impressed with the place. We ordered the tandoori sizzling platters, chicken tikka, and a medium spiced lamb dish, all with rice and naan. The meat on the sizzling platters was quite a strong flavour (meaty, if you wish), and it all looked and tasted quite similar even though it was a mixed platter. Friend enjoyed his chicken tikka, and I enjoyed my lamb dish too. The thing that ruined it for all of us - and has done for me before - is the service. It always seems just a bit abrupt, aloof. They are also always trying to take away items from the table whilst you are still eating. My friend was dipping his naan into his curry bowl and they were still trying to take that! It's not nice having people lean over you trying to clear the table whilst you are eating. The table wasn't rammed with dishes so we weren't struggling for space. It just feels like they want you in and out of there (I'm sure that is not the case but that is how it comes across). I probably wouldn't rush back, but food isn't that bad and the building is amazing; could just do with some customer service training. Might be back…

The food was good a little more well done then I would have liked I had a tandoori mix. Staff were grate but the building was a little rough around the edges (missing light bulbs,broken seats, and so on). The room I was seated in was very grand despite this. Over all I would recommend coming here if on a budget if about 15 pounds per person

The coolest location for a restaurant inside an old church. The waiters were very attentive and even brought over a book explaining how it was an old boys school. Food was tasty and they even made it to suit our taste.

Visiting after 8 years. The food was fantastic and authentic, not at all generic. The staff, in particular a chap named Alex was very friendly and accommodating to our group of 8. Excellent service. Will be coming again soon.

The food is very good and I would recommend it. The food is very nice and the service is second to none . It's worth a visit just for the building and the atmosphere.

First time visiting with family. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Food was very good, and everyone enjoyed their chosen dishes. My husband was even able to order a chicken vindaloo which wasn't on the menu. The restaurant has a lovely setting and the decor is really nice. We will visit again.

Historical building (monastery?) that doesn't really suit an Indian restaurant. But the food was heavenly... maybe that's the connection... there were three of us and we were completely thrilled.

A really good Thali that didn't feel like too much food! Has to be one of the most impressive restaurant settings, being in the old church. The service was spot on, I do always wish they had draught beer though!

What a wonderful evening we had in this beautiful restaurant. I’ve been a grateful guest here for 2 decades and it never disappoints. The best Indian by far in Stony with attentive service and such wonderful surroundings. I love the candles they have introduced which lend a romantic atmosphere. I hope we never lose this important asset to our town ❤️

Went for dinner with a friend after a long time and was pleasantly suprised. The food was delicious, we had the vegetarian platter to share, followed by dosa and ras malai for desert.

Without a doubt the best Indian restaurant in Stony. Great when you eat in or take away - although the inside of the restaurant is stunning and definitely worth a visit!

family party, everything excellent. premises spectacular, food, service, staff all excellent. Amongst the guests were a small number who had food allergies or intolerances, the kitchen staff catered to those people exactly as requested, nothing was too much trouble.

We had the Sunday banquet menu cannot fault anything. Service great, relaxed didn't feel rushed at all. Food very tasty and good portion size. Would definitely recommend and will come again very soon.

The menu here is refreshing different to the traditional dishes offered by most Indian restaurants. Well worth a visit for the food alone, but the interior makes it a very special place to dine with family and friends

Great food. The tables all feel a bit squashed in with not enough space for all the dishes and drinks which spoils an otherwise nice meal. The biryani was especially good.

Very busy and loud. Some confusion with mixing the feast menus. Very tasty! Better experience when it's a bit quieter and not 10 in a group!

Showing as open for business, ordered online for collection, received confirmation of order. Turned up an hour later as instructed to collect only to find the restaurant closed. Really poor to accept an order and send confirmation if they are closed. 3 other people arrived at the same time to the same issue.

Came here on Christmas day and had the set menu. There were plenty of poppadoms but not enough dips. Starter was a mixture of samosas, bhajis, chicken etc. This was okay, nothing special. Main course was butter chicken served with pilau rice and naan bread. This was quite disappointing if I'm honest. There were also other side dishes served alongside the main but we weren't told what they were so it was just a guessing game. This is the same for the naan breads, they were all mixed together so didn't know what we'd get. For dessert we were told we were having traditional Indian ice cream, which initially sounded interesting. This was just a lump of pistachio ice cream served on a plate with a lemon sauce. The overall experience was pretty disappointing especially since it cost £47 a head before adding on extra for drinks.

Sunday buffet good value i would recommend

Started going here regularly for take away since late last year and it was brilliant - food tasted just like restaurants from South Asia. Last couple of months....not so much. Food has gone down hill big time. Spent £45 today and it will be the last time.

Style over substance. Firstly, the building is impressive and, therefore, I imagine, a great spot for a date. It's in a chapel, retaining all of its old features including a brilliant domed roof. There's also a bit of a history to the place in the photos on the walls. There's quite a bit of free parking out the back of the restaurant, which is great for Stony. However, the food fizzled and was average / bland. We went for the banquet menu which came with unlimited naan and mains. Of the 2 naan they initially brought, one was a poor man's version of a peshwari, stuffed with dry mango paste 👎. The service is passable but they took a long time to bring additional dishes and take payment. I'd been here a few years back and recall the food being a lot better than a standard Indian. I'd say maybe just try and go off the menu.

Had an amazing meal tonight celebrating my partner’s birthday, this is the second time we’ve dined here, the food is exceptional!! The interior of the building is beautiful and the service is great. We’ll definitely be visiting more often, thank you.

Terrible service, low quality food. Booked table for family of 6. Arrived at 7 and served sub standard food at 9:30. It appeared that takeaway and delivery orders took priority over seated customers. We noted that there were a few customers complaining. We would not return.

We do a near 2 hour round trip just to come here! Banquet A is one of the most exceptional collections of food, can honestly so it's the best Indian I've ever eaten. Beautiful setting too, absolutely love it here.

Lovley venue in Old Church parking around back of the venue or street parking at the front food was good would go back again.

Food served not worth the money.

Nice enough service, clean toilets. Can't say I enjoyed my meal though, the meat had unpleasant fatty parts and the sauce was bland. Expensive for what it was.

Set in an old church building, the grandure of the decor was matched by the ethos of the restaurant. We had one of the banquet options but for 7 people. This concept is sweet: starters and poppadoms portioned for the 7 of us, then 2 lots of 5 mains and 2 sides in bowls split between us that have an 'unlimited refill' policy. We only had 3 or 4 refills between us, so didn't see the huge benefit in this option. £20ish each meant that we probably could have had better value buying separately. Either way the staff did serve attentively, however not the most charasmatic or enthusiastic. A little bit 'conveyor-belt' like in their efficiency. Overall the food was good, the service good and setting good. Am I recommending it to everyone. No. Would I warn someone before going, no. If I was invited to go by a loved-one... Sure.

Very friendly staff, very professional, absolutely beautiful food! ..it came highly recommended and lived up to its reputation!

It's clean and tidy. Went for the buffet and the food didn’t set me on fire with excitement, basic choices in the starters and mains but the desserts was not great wouldn’t recommend the buffet but highly recommend ordering from the menu as it’s so much better. Overall give the buffet a miss but ordering from the menu is way more better.

A sad fall from grace. Arrived at 7:30 on a Sunday evening and was promptly told by a member of staff that we had only 30 mins to 'eat and leave'. The waiter didn't ask if we wanted any drinks. I understand that the waiter wanted to go home but there's no need to lie about the closing time or be so overtly blunt. The food itself was ok but wouldn't pay £13.50 for it. It's a shame as my family and I have frequented this restaurant for over 10 years, I have fond memories of visiting this packed out restaurant in all its glory as a child.

Disappointed I had a booked in for a dining in the dark experience a month in advance. I had a call 2 days before the event to say his colleague was wrong and the event had already come and gone....I was fine but asked if I could keep my booking but have a discount for the trouble? He said no and ended the call....I like this place but let down

Absolutely the best Indian restaurant I’ve been too. Set in a beautiful old church, the atmosphere is lovely and the food is delicious. Even asking for something that’s not on the menu is made for you. It was my daughters birthday and they came out with a cake and sparkler for her with happy birthday music. The staff are all so lovely too. Thank you so so much for a perfect evening

Very disappointed, was rushed, staff surly& dirty looking, hardly let us view menu, rushed us into set meal A or B. We had A, no sweet, 19.95 ea, 7 off us so easier for them. Food dumped on table, staff kept hovering, we felt watched & rushed. Hardly tell the difference between dishes, a piece of so called chicken was hard couldnt cut it. Food was almost over in a hour, us ladies went for social evening out, not to be hurried, By 815ish they were demanding payment, 3 times asking for the money, coming back with the pay machine, wasn't keen on us some of us paying cash. Also there was a heavy service charge, so no tip for them. They wouldn't have got one anyway with their awful service We did sit and stay almost another hour after pay, but wasn't asked to leave fortunately !! Just got lots stares I wouldn't recommend this place, and you can be sure us ladies will not be going again. One good thing, The building is stunning

We visited for a birthday recently and had a perfect evening to celebrate. The food was delicious, I asked for something that wasn’t on the menu and the chef made it for me which I really appreciated. The staff were fab, they brought out some cake for the birthday boy and had written happy birthday in icing on the plate which was a really nice touch. Would definitely recommend :)

One of my best Indian Restaurants in MK! But until today Sun 27/3/22 mothers day food still good but service not so good. No real welcoming or seeing how we were as always a chatty friendly place and no welcoming of free glass of wine on mother's day. We all felt the same the atmosphere has gone downhill.
