Absolutely lovely place whether you want coffi and cake, a brecwast, lunch or a dinner. This place is so cosy and has a welcoming atmosphere.

Popped in for the first time this week. A very warm welcome by the staff, by far the busiest cafe (that afternoon) in Machynlleth. We both had coffee and the most glorious vegan chocolate cake, which I think is the nicest cake I've ever had (and I've had a lot). We spoiled the vegan-ness by smothering it in cream, but who cares 😁. Rest assured, we will most definitely be back!

Friendly Welsh speaking staff . I has the Welsh raebit it was very tasty. Their home made cake selection is good also.

Now caffi Glyndwr, held my Aunt's wake here today and we cannot fault the staff's kindness, attention to us all, and the wonderful food. The cakes are especially delicious and all home made. Thank you for making it so lovely for us.

Snug and friendly cafe come eatery with a wide range of (real) home-cooked delights. Coffee is excellent and if you're quick, get a spot on the sofas next to the wood-burner. Staff always friendly, attentive and will encourage your Welsh language skills! Excellent.

Perfect stop on a long drive. Very nice coffee and we had a delicious bakewell slice. The best thing for us was that it was baby and dog friendly. Would highly recommend.

Great coffee & tasty cake. Staff are great.

Good food and coffee, reasonably priced. Sadly the staff let the cafe down. They were very uninterested in conversing with us, our sandwiches arrived first and were just plonked on the table without a word! 5 minutes later 1 coffee arrived and another 5 minutes later the next! NO RUSH! Staff appeared to be on their mobiles frequently, even when we were waiting. I am disappointed that the staff did not appear to want to serve us promptly and have never heard of the words please and thank you. Shame.

Lovely welsh cafe,coffee is fab and delicious pastries.Situated in a very old historical building,floors a bit uneven so mind your step.Highly recommend

Great little cafe with lovely staff. Food was great, really good quality ingredients.

Visited this cafe for the first time on Wednesday and very much enjoyed our visit. I particularly liked that they had a base price for breads, jacket potatoes etc and you chose your toppings which were all individually priced. My friend is vegetarian and had lots of choice too. My jacket potato was yummy, lots of butter, with cheese and bacon and some cherry tomatoes with seasoning on, they were delicious. My friend had hummus and red onion on her sani. We also had tea and a cappuccino. I liked that there were obviously regulars dotted about with their laptops, bodes well. Only downside, I initially sat on a very soft sofa and sank in so beware of that if you are not so mobile as getting out was fun! Lovely friendly smiley lady with dark hair served us. Would recommend 😋

Nice venue and good prices and selection of cakes. We were visiting the area for the first time and although the cafe was nice, we got a very distinct impression that we weren’t that welcome. Staff seemed much friendly to other customers.

We often stop here as a drink and cake break on way to coast .

Visited just for a coffee but was so impressed we both had a bagel / panini which was perfect. Made to feel extremely welcome, sat on very comfy sofas in front of a lit wood burner. Staff cheerful and helpful - what was not to like ? Thank you.

We ordered some lovely barras for a light lunch and sat out under the gazebo. It was very busy as they were one of the few places open for a monday! Lady who took our order was very stressed as it was busy, so 2 of our orders were never arrived that we paid for, this was quickly sorted as soon as we questioned why we were a sandwich and a cake short. Other than that it's quite pleasant sat in the courtyard, a pamphlet about the old parliament building would have been interesting

The cafe is on the ground floor of the historic parliament building in Machynlleth High Street. They have a simple and tasty lunch menu which includes jacket potatoes, sandwiches and toasted flat breads. There are lots of choices of filling including a number of vegetarian and vegan options. These can be served with a side salad/ coleslaw. In addition there is a good choice of teas, cakes and cold drinks. The service was very prompt and efficient, despite being busy on market day. There is lots of outdoor seating, set back from the main road with the mountains behind. There is also a lot of covered outdoor seating if the weather is not so good. Toilets for customers are upstairs. The cafe makes good use of the ground floor and outdoor space... Do feel more could be done with the rest of the building given its huge historical importance.... there are pre-booked tours but if you turn up nothing else to 'see'.

They make amazing coffee, it didn’t give me the jitters, and delicious healthy-ish brownies. Beautiful outdoor seating area. I hope to come back some day!

Lovely little characterful place, it feels like a traditional tea room or a WWI pop up or something, in the best of ways. It has toilets but I didn't use them so can't say about disabled access or anything, but everywhere I went was clean. There is no dedicated parking, but I had no problems finding roadside parking. Historic beautiful building and garden with seating out the back. The coffee was really good, and the fresh cakes too. I would definitely drive out of my way to pop back if I'm anywhere near again.

My favourite local coffee shop and restaurant. The staff are an absolute delight and a pleasure to speak to. The room has an ancient rustic charm, the garden with its tent and seats is always a highlight especially during covid. The coffee shop is located inside an historic building and I wish the owners would upgrade the washrooms but that is not Caffi Alys fault.

Best flat white in wales! Also had an amazing bacon bagel, with the perfect amount of brown sauce to bacon ratio. Very friendly bunch with a real community theme, throughly recommended.

Very welcoming atmosphere and very very yummy coffee and cake. However there was no menu visible so we had no idea what the coffee options were or what it was going to cost...lovely outdoor seating area, though!

Lovely cappachino, nice cakes, friendly service, good outdoor area with tables. Only negative that we had no serviettes with our cakes.

Indoor seating and outdoor tables and chairs with a marquee for protection from rain. Set back from the road and OK for dogs. Helpful staff, clean tables and a good range of sensibly priced food and drink. Opens earlier than many cafe's in the town

Slow, wrong drinks, lukewarm... No control over the entrance and exit. Not a great experience.

We stopped here to have lunch and cake whilst on a bike tour. It was really nice, the staff were really pleasant & helpful and the bara brith was amazing. Would definitely go back.

Found this gem of s place on a cold, wet Saturday. What an amazing place, quirky, interesting and with a roaring log fire. We had excellent panini's and soup made with locally sourced ingredients. Beautiful looking cakes but we were too full Very, very friendly. Highly recommended

It's ok with a Welsh hippie vibe, decent cooking means a wait that's too long if you have less than an hour for lunch, very little hot meal choice, tea's hot.

Great coffee, hot chocolate and very tasty lunch. Really popular, especially with locals which is always a good sign! Well worth a visit if you are in Machynlleth.

What a lovely welcome, we asked could we bring our old labby dog in, no problem. As we were dining that night across the road we only required a quick snack. My wife and myself had cheese toasties which was served with garnish and homemade coleslaw which was delicious. My wife decided to have a home made cake which was beautiful. Washed down with two hot chocolate drinks on a cold wet day did the trick.Finally the staff were very chatty and pleasant and even gave our dog a little biscuit for being so good. Diolch Yn Fawr.

Just popped in for a cup of tea and a cake. Chocolate and banana loaf for my husband and salted caramel shortbread for me. Delicious. Plenty to choose from in snacks or something more substantial. Friendly staff. Would definitely return.

Called in for coffee. Despite being very busy (market day) we were given a warm welcome. Sat on comfortable sofas and served in a speedy friendly fashion.No pressure to leave despite the small order. Food looked good and the atmosphere was brilliant.We made a good choice coming here. Next time we'll try the food.

My husband gravitates to good coffee wherever he is. This lovely cafe is no exception. I had a delicious Darjeeling, he an oat milk cappuccino. We returned the following day for more coffee and because I was determined to try the soup. I was not disappointed with the sweet potato, tomato and coconut soup served with baguette and vegan spread. Absolutely yummy. I’m going to try to reproduce the recipe at home. Loved it and will make a beeline next time we are in town.

We went to Caffi Alys for lunch after reading some excellent reviews but we were very disappointed. We had 2 barra gallega, one with bacon and one with roasted peppers. The bread was cold and I was surprised that the roasted peppers were cold and straight from a jar! Maybe I should not have assumed that they would be home cooked and freshly roasted, but for £6 I did not feel that what I had was good value for money!

I am a regular here, it is a warm friendly cafe with very good food. Helpful friendly staff who welcome both Welsh speakers and English speakers with warmth. It's a great place for Welsh language learners to practice speaking and be assured of an answer. It also hosts events that are well worth attending.

Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff

Good coffee and an all-too-tempting selection of cakes. Portuguese pasteis de nata particularly good. Also pleasant to have a welcoming Welsh-speaking atmosphere, though non-speakers treated just as well.

Visited Machynlleth today foir first time in years, spotted Caffi Alys from the car park. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, a warm welcome which cannot be said of everywhere. Ordered a flat white had to resisit the Bara Brith. Lovely chatty background not overwhelming. Cwtched on the comfy sofa read the newspapers . Coffee was so good, it was lovely and hot not something you find often, tasted delicious. Only disappointed that I'm unable to get back this weekend for the Pop Up Restaurant night as the menu sounds yummy! Will be back when next up in Mach.

We called here on the off chance on a rather rainy day whilst heading off on our holidays.

There are a lot of cafes in Mach but Caffi Alys is a cut above the rest. It's a haven from the noise and hassle. As soon as you walk in you feel more relaxed. There are a collection of tables as well as comfortable settees. The coffee is excellent and they offer oat milk which for me is a big plus. There are daily specials meals as well as savoury bagels, sandwiches and panninis.

As a Scot who moved to Machynlleth I am always made very welcome in the cafe. Great food, coffee and cakes. My two young grandsons love it as there are some toys.

Detoured from my usual route from Drenewydd to Dolgellau and called in at Caffi Alys.
