Service was good and food was ok. It’s a reasonable size and on Mark Lane. Lunchtime tends to be very busy.

Convenient and pleasant, this is a handy coffee shop/wine bar/restaurant in the City of London. The staff were very friendly and the setting and decor are charming. The lunchtime food menu was nothing to write home about, with too few vegetarian options. The portobello halloumi burger was pretty average. The green salad was nice, mostly spinach. Unfortunately something gave me a bit of a tummy upset which made me wonder if the vegetables were properly washed.

They use pre-cooked pasta and the pizza is too heavy and prices are very expensive. I do not recommend this local wasted money.

We had bruschetta to start, which was good though the chopped tomatoes were a bit cold. For mains we had the cod special, with pasta and tomato. This was excellent. Nice atmosphere though could do without the background music. A nice bottle of Italian red too, and a cheese platter to finish.

Great coffee served in a modern bar, nice menu serving great pizzas. Good value and generous portion. Staff really friendly Gianluca the manager a great guy. Recommend

I work local to this bar/eatery and visited as part of a business lunch. We had a booking and were seated quickly in a nice location. The atmosphere was quite quiet since the bar was not that busy. The atmosphere was relaxed. We waited about 45 minutes for the starters to arrive, and then another 30 minutes or so for the main course (Pizza). We were not rushed for time but I was really chomping at the bit for lunch and the wit for me was simply to long. The service was pretty awful. When the food arrived it was probably the worst pizza I have eaten in 20 years. It was edible but really quite tasteless. Had I been paying I would have complained about the service and removed the service charge. I would have considered strongly about not paying part of the food bill since this really was the poorest food experience I can remember having. I'm no food snob. My expectations are realistic. You will, and I have had a far superior pizza/pasta dish at any of the main Pizza/Pasta chains at a cheaper price. Not just once but every single time. I therefore cannot recommend this eatery based on my experience and will not be using again in future.

Since opening on Mark Lane, 1882 has garnered a reputation as THE place to go out by the City's U25s. A crown it took from Camino's over the road, and will not last for long. I cannot advise people to avoid here more. Having visited on multiple occasions I can confirm that it is constantly understaffed. Most recently, on a Thursday, traditionaly the busiest night for bars in the City, there were only three people behind the bar, one of whom was dedicated to picking up dirty glasses and recycling them through the machine. I don't think I have ever been served here in less than 15 minutes most recently I left with my 8 colleagues when it took over half an hour to be served. Being 6"4' and having worked in a bar I do have our present this was simply a case of understaffing. (As well as some poor service by those working.) I don't want to take away from the people behind the bar, who work very hard, if ineffectually but the service here in the evenings is awful. Aside from the service, the selection of beers is poor, the cocktail menu is basic, and the prices are eye watering. I reiterate this view is not based off my last visit but the last three. I have nothing against this place aside from the above and wish it was better for a night out in town.

Easy, quick, nice broad menu. Not much by way of fruit for breakfast. Prices reasonable and service ok.

Enjoyed this coffee bar--very nice furnishings and the coffee was superb. We had several coffees in here throughout the week.

We wanted a couple of drinks near to Fenchurch Street before heading on to our lunch booking elsewhere and came across 1882! What a great little bar and restaurant! We sat up at the bar and were served by really friendly, happy staff! Loved it, will definitely be returning!

Have been here a couple of times, breakfast is good (had the ciabatta soldiers and boiled eggs), coffee is very very good and great in the evening for drinks, they often have cocktails on offer (range of bellinis is good and 2 for 1) also they have a 2 for 1 on glasses of prosecco. Nice inside, friendly staff, good sports area upstairs that you can hire out or use if not hired out I assume.

The place inside is really nice. Popular but unfortunately the food is just average. Seafood pasta was overcooked and swimming in tomato sauce! In the end did not digest it well and upset my stomach a little. The mixed cured meat platter was ok. Not sure about food here, just average Italian - English style

Came here for a late lunch. Pizza was a little dissapointing and Tiramisu was average. This is not a full restaurant as such. More like a wine bar serving food. Can get busy being right in the City, near to Fenchurch street. Maybe trying too hard to be too many things.

This was a bit of last minute decision. The restaurant staff are all really friendly and gave fantastic and attentive service. The menu was great and all dishes looked great and subtle.

Had the fantasia pizza which was a very generous size and the farfalle pasta with bacon and courgette which was very nice but very small and cost more than the pizza. Bigger pasta portions please!
