Brilliant café. Lovely idea of bricks showing. The staff are Very polite and helpful. Tables are clean. No mess on the floor.

An absolute joke card machine was broken so cash only, dishwasher was broken too so everyone had to drink out of paper cups and eat with no plates and cutlery. It’s like they are going back to the past! Avoid this one go to the Nero in culver square you will be able to pay with your card and drink from a proper cup!

The slow service and long queues have been an issue at this cafe since it first opened in the new Fenwicks store. I waited 15 minutes to be served. Shame as I love the coffee and the food isn't bad (but very pricey).

How slow????? 30 minutes from start to finish to get two coffees and two heated food items. 7 or 8 people behind the counter - 2 of them at the till also making the coffees, 1 girl heating the food and the rest milling about chatting. A broken dishwasher is to blame making service slow. Not sure how that makes sense as it means no one is having to operate it or clean cups away, and it should in theory make service faster. It was the most frustrating experience and they’re oblivious.

Stopped for coffee and a cake, the young man that served me Josh J, was very polite and friendly, when i informed him of my nut allergy he immediately went out of his way to make sure the tongs was steralised before serving my cake. Fantastic service thankyou so much.

Caffe Nero Oxo Tower. Needs an overhaul, very dinghy and looks in need of redecoration. Service was good though and normal standard for coffee.

Lovely coffee, avoid the cakes, takes will power as they look delicious 😋. With the added bonus of a free coffee with their loyalty card after few visits.

Coffee is nice but too many tables taken up with people doing work or study. One table for eight had 2 people each end, their papers strewn across all the tables.their coats and bags on the back of the free chairs some not even buying drinks. One table of three had bought no drinks or food. This makes it difficult for people looking for free tables to eat. Very annoying. Management need to do something.

Lemon drizzle is a must lovely and moist, just the right amount of tang!!

4pm on a Monday afternoon so quiet. Staff standing around chatting. Plenty of available tables but had to ask for a table to be cleared to sit down. Then had to go and ask again for it to be wiped. Then had to ask for it to be wiped again as it was still filthy. The member of staff actually protested that he'd already done it! I ended up taking the cleaning stuff off him and doing it myself. I am very far from a hygiene freak but the state of the tables was very poor. Not a great experience which is a shame because it's a nice coffee shop otherwise.

This is for the Caffè Nero in Fenwicks. Popped in for a quick coffee and sit down after a difficult morning. Was served by a girl with dark hair and a fringe. Asked for what I usually order without much thought, and after about 5 seconds I changed my mind and asked for something else. The girls face when I altered the order was as if I had just killed someone, and she angrily pressed cancel on the card machine and rolled her eyes. The absolute vile attitude on this girl made a difficult morning even worse, and I felt as if I had done something hugely wrong to upset her.. The rest of the staff here are usually lovely and friendly, so I’m not sure why this girl thinks her treatment towards me was acceptable. Has put me off visiting this branch again if I’m honest. Really awful

With the industrial style fixtures and exposed brickwork is this Fenwick departure store or a fancy loft conversion in Shoreditch? Shame its the same average coffee. Staff are always extra helpful as you would expect from a Nero.

Quiet but friendly and helpful.

I always tell people if you want a proper coffee on the high street look for a Cafe Nero, well this one was let down today by a churlish member of staff. I ordered a cappuccino and was given a cup full to the brim with milky coffee. I would call that a latte. I asked, very politely, if it could be remade as a cappuccino (third coffee, third milk and a third foam). She remade it, perfectly, but with a really awful attitude. Bad enough for me to waste the time writing this review.

One of the best cafes in Colchester for a quiet coffee, in nice surroundings and with good attentive staff that come with IQ's and smiles. The only drawback was this gentleman; standing outside on a narrow ledge. When I opened the window to invite him in, he proceeded to ignored me and carried on looking at us with his vague Mona Lisa smile. I do hope he is okay and that somebody tells him that there is no need to go to such extraordinary lengths to maintain social distance.

The staff are so friendly on the ball and nothing seems 2 phase them when people in the queue are not wearing masks even tho there is a sign requesting that. As soon as a table becomes empty they are 'sanitizing' the table instantly. So thank you from one satisfied custoner

It was the only coffee shop open for customers to sit in due to covid restrictions. The coffee itself Americano) was very run of the mill, not much strength or flavour to it.

I like Café Nero situated in Fenwick's. Met and had coffee with a friend. It's always very relaxed and staff are lovely. Not so crowded either at the present time either..

Where the posh people of Colchester gather

In Fenwicks shopping with my wife. She is in the Ladies' clothes section so I went to Caffè Nero for a coffee at 5.40pm only to be informed that they are closed! The website says open until 6pm and the shop is still open and will be open until 6pm. So zero stars and an angry customer. Well done Nero.

Stopped there for a hot chocolate and muffin. Just enjoying it and the peace and quiet (was just after 17:00) when in comes a crowd of 20 school children. Drank up quick and got out.

Situated in Williams and Griffin department store the standard Caffè Nero formula works really well. The day we visited the baristas Filipa and Aarron were really helpful and friendly. The service, coffee, cake and location all added to a happy relaxing experience.....
