Caffè Nero in Forest Heath

The bar area was absolutely full of flies when I visited today, crawling all over the coffee machine, the milks and signage. It made my stomach turn so I left without ordering.

Comfortable surroundings and good tea but unhelpful staff. It has a large variety of cake and snacks. Not the freshest or nicest baked goods you are likely to get but definitely hit the spot. Comfortable chairs and couches as well as free WiFi help. Some of the staff are lovely, some borderline rude. Recently changed opening hours to make it comparable to every other cafe in Newmarket.

This review is for the delivery experience—the in-store service is almost always great. When ordering through Deliveroo or Uber Eats at this store, I often order food and then receive something different or nothing at all because the food was not in stock. I then have to manually request a refund whereas other companies on the same delivery platforms do this for you automatically. So my suggestions would be: 1. Update your stock on UberEats and Deliveroo. If it’s not in stock, people shouldn’t be allowed to add it to their basket. 2. If you don’t have the item the customer ordered, organize their refund through the delivery platform. Don’t make them have to do it. A scrawled note on the receipt telling the customer they should request a refund seems like half effort. It’s almost like this store views the delivery orders as lower priority where customer service is concerned. As I said earlier, if you’re going in store then you will probably have a great experience.

Ordered on ubereats, order included a note apologising for a lack of ice and fully stamped loyalty cards for 2 free drinks. Very, very kind gesture. Huge thank you to whomever fulfilled my order.

Wonderful experience from the staff and a perfect coffee, place has certainly improved over the last few months and this afternoon I think I have had the best cappuccino I’ve had in an age. Excellent work to all the staff who were so friendly and bought my coffee to the table.

Like the coffee and the ciabattas. Not cheap like other places, my advice is to get a reusable cup (double stamps) and maybe get voucher codes from that certain place.

It wasn’t bad for a period of time; we visited often and spent a lot of time and money there because it’s kind of our local coffee shop. However, we noticed the quality of the coffee and service has started to decline. Two days ago, we visited again, and the coffee we had was undrinkable. One of our drinks had a hint of salt in it, and the other seemed to be made from leftovers from the previous coffee. The taste was awful, and we had to leave both on the table, hoping to send a message to the staff. After all this, we decided that we will not go there again.

Very rude old British lady/barista. Sorry, I did not catch the name. Uninformed about drinks and loyalty programs, with “nay” attitude to everything. Making clients feel unwelcome. Fighting clients and coworkers. The rest of the staff is usually super friendly, helpful and professional but one experience like I had today can make you lose clients and possibly staff. Awful service by Eastern European lady in the maroon/dark red t shirt a while back. Very rude, glaring at customers and behaving in a very annoyed mood when taking orders. Other staff are lovely though, especially the man with the curly brown hair wearing a black shirt. Seating is nice and comfortable but the staff are VERY slow at clearing tables up - most tables left uncleared for hours and the toilets are very unclean too.

Main reason for this review is a lovely lady Penny! She was absolutely amazing. My 17MO accidentally knocked over my drink. How embarrassing… Penny straight away came over, cleaned it up and was super kind and sweet to both myself and toddler! I then went to re buy my drink and Penny gave it to me, free of charge! She’d just cleaned up our mess!!! What an absolute legend. Thank you Penny, you made our day! 😊✨

Poor example of the genre. Every single table uncleared and dirty. Toilet in a right state. Coffee itself was ok.

Very friendly staff. I was served by a young man who I think was the manager. Nice guy and made me feel welcome. Definitely my favourite coffee shop in town.

I’ve never been here but when my phone was missing these two lovely staff members kindly gave it back to me when they found it outside while my fiancée was looking for it with my mum and I on find my iPhone and I just wanted to say thank you so much it really means a lot

I have put 5 stars for everything . BUT the young lady who works there normally has her hair in a bun, think she needs training on customer service with at least a little smile . Whoever is manager needs to speak to her, others are great and helpful.

Favourite coffee shop in Newmarket for as long as they've been here.

You should train the trainee barista(a European lady with a hair bun wearing red tshirt) to have a better service mind and perhaps a better attitude. She was moody the whole time I was there and quite rude and not just to me she was rude to other customers as well. I ordered Millionaire hot chocolate, blueberry muffin, lemon curd muffin, and a sausage roll. When i asked for the receipt she said she threw it away and couldn't reprint for me. What kind of excuse was that? I understand the pressure from the high volume of customers on Sunday morning but she should be reminded that those customers were here and spent money not begging for free food. On a different note, Food and drink were good as usual.

Waited as there was only one server during our visit. The coffee and a quick snack were very nice. Very dog focussed, lots of dogs inside and photos of local dogs were on the wall. Seemed to be a parent/baby group meeting too. Cafe was a little untidy. Maybe down to staffing levels during my visit.

One wonderful lady working mostly on her own, still keeping up a wonderful Personal character with every customer, continuing to interact as she was making coffees. All food and drinks absolutely delicious, coffee bar amazingly clean even solo during a morning rush, frankly couldn't have been more impressed.

Absolutely poor customer service, I am never coming to this cafe ever again!! When I went to the counter, only one customer was being served so I went and stood... There were two ladies behind the counter and they ignored me completely as I was invisible, I stood there for a while hoping they would atleast take my presence into consideration, eventually the lady who was being served felt very awkward as well and gave me a look, I instantly knew I am clearly not welcomed here and rushed to the door to never coming back ! Rude.

Had a Danish it was so good, we always like Nero's when having a day shopping.

Like I going 2 times in week to pick up my breakfast , always is something not working. I know it is not a stuff fault but the management.This hew to fix

Having previously rated 5 stars I don't feel I can anymore. Since October last year when the last manager left unfortunately it has made a difference to this branch. I feel they have had difficulty recruiting but now it feels dirty, messy and the service is hit and miss. Then to my (and many others) dismay it is now not open until 9am (from 7am). Starbucks queue at 8am was substantial because of it. I hope they are able to sort out staffing and the state of it. Instead of sharing the love between Nero and the local independent Victor Victoria .... they will be getting all the love...

Food choices limited by late morning probably insufficient staff to fill up. Dirty toilets. Seating stained. Tables not cleared. Most staff not able to make more than one drink at a time or not know how to make a cappuccino! Once a favourite place but since the end of 2022 has gone downhill.

All fine enough, just usual mind numb line wait despite seeing staff milling around, usual Nero then..

Lovely staff here in Newmarket, yet watching other people's almost flippant disregard for the work these people do, is sad for those faceless members of the public, who don't look past themselves! Great workers for the business are hard to keep.

The coffee is good and the staff are friendly, the premises is not always as clean as it should be, tables can often have crumbs and spilt coffee unwiped.

Of the 2 baristas working this afternoon, only 1 was taking orders while I was there and they were working exceedingly slowly meaning I left the queue after 6 mins, without ordering. The person I was with had already placed their order before I joined to queue, so I sat with them while they enjoyed their drink. Its a shame as I love caffe nero and Newmarket branch has always treated me well.

One of my favourite spots to relax with a coffee and some reading. Comfy chairs, can get busy.

We are early risers so it's convenient to go for light breakfast of yogurt and today teacake. Apparently they don't do toast but it wasn't a problem. Coffee always good.

Usually I would probably give a chain coffee shop a 3 star, but actually, the one in Newmarket seems to be run by one barista and a small army of trainees. I go in maybe once a month, and the regular batista lady I see in there must train to a very high level - never a dirty table, fridges and cabinets well stocked, clean toilet, all of them friendly to the customers, coffee is never burnt, and food isn't neglected.

It is always a pleasure to step into the Cafe Nero coffee shop in Newmarket. The staff here are always friendly, polite and genuinely happy to serve you. Nothing is too much and you are always served with a smile. The drinks are great but it is the outstanding staff and their wonderful attitudes that makes us want to visit time and time again.

It is now my preferred coffee place, I used to go to Costa but the Nero has more variety
