Caffe Nero in Leeds

It was great, friendly staff and great coffee.

Sarah was incredible, taking orders and making drinks so quickly, barely felt like you were waiting!

It’s freezing inside cafe, I have asked a staff to turn off the Air conditioning , unfortunately he was not trained to do so and he was thinking and then he said it is broken !!!!

Caffe Nero has a good coffee, The Service is good but Slow, needs to Improve to do a Faster Service. But it is a really good place to have a rest While you are Working or visiting Leeds, or the close Museums and Library.

Thank you to Tyler who was working earlier today. There was an altercation and Tyler came out and checked that I was okay and was very kind and generous.

Didn't have lemon cheesecake and wouldn't refund my just paid almost £4 for something I didn't receive.

So unhygienic!! We ordered 2 coffees and the woman serving us sniffed the drinks for an extended period of time as she couldn't remember which drink was which. We told her we would figure it out ourselves and she ignored us and continued to put her nose in the drinks. This same woman was moving our cups with her fingers inside the glasses which is just disgusting too, when she poured the milk and ice her fingers lookes as though they were touching the drink - normally you hold the glasses from the bottom but this was vile. As we were walking to the cafe we saw a woman putting the rubbish out and as we entered at the same time, she didn't wash her hands and went straight back to helping out. As the woman was sniffing our drinks, one of her coworkers was laughing and making a joke that she thought she was going to take a sip out of our drink which seems absurd as she didn't think to tell her not to put her nose for over 20 seconds in our drink. Really unimpressed and disgusted. The woman who sniffed our drinks was probably in her 30s and the woman who didn't wash her hands was in her 20s it seems.

i’ve been going to this cafe nero for the past couple months before my mock exams and they’ve always been open by 6:30 and serving customers. was met with a rude employee today who clearly didn’t show any customer care and said in rather rude manner that they’re not open yet. i understand there’s issues when opening but i’m very sure there were other colleagues available. in addition to this, other crew members have successfully served me a simple green tea and then carried on with their morning jobs. not impressed today

Disgusting and ignorant manager who clearly has no understanding that not all disabilities are visible (as written on the disabled toilet) and prevents disabled people from using the disabled toilet. Should be sacked for discrimination

Nice little cafe on main street. The staff is really friendly and the cappucino is amazing.

They don’t listen to the order, having to repeat l wanted milk or l want a take away cup. One barista in particular always gives short measures the attached photo shows a large coffee, before l started to drink it. Not cheap so expect a full cup.

It was pleasant to take a moment to relax and enjoy a delicious latte and cake after receiving some unfortunate news from the hospital. The latte was particularly enjoyable, and the cakes are always a delightful treat.

I got an iced coffee here whilst in the area, it was good. You can get discounts if you have the app, such as student discounts, and rewards.

Visited today with my partner who has a serious wheat allergy. We’re used to her having to go grab a sandwich from a nearby supermarket and staff are always great about it wherever we go. When she came back and said they hadn’t had any GF sandwiches and she’d just have to get the soup, the girl at the counter said ‘you don’t look like you want the soup, why don’t I call a local store to see if they have one of our GF sandwiches?” She proceeded to call three other stores until she found one in stock, then asked another team member to nip round and get it. Absolutely wonderful service, she went above and beyond. It was the first time we’d visited this branch and we will definitely be back! My partner thought her name was ‘Dee’ - please see she gets the recognition she deserves!

I used a fully stamped card to get a drink today. It tasted very acidic, so I politely asked for it to be remade. The manager then proceeded to charge me extra for a very small amount of milk to top up my drink since I like it with less ice & always have it made this way in any cafe Nero I go to. I never got charged extra for it. I told him I wasn't happy to pay extra, especially since I had earned a fully stamped card and he responded with "well, it's my store so I'm gonna charge you". I thought this was a chain? If you're gonna lie, at least do it well! And if you're gonna be petty, prepare yourself because I'm gonna be petty right back ☺️

Exceptional staff on hand to cater for all your requirements. Special praise and gratitude to Ruby, as she warmed up my sausage rolls to go before enduring the elements on my commute to work. This was after purchasing them 40 minutes prior whilst sitting in with my order. Many thanks Ruby.

Tables messy, doing pre close instead of serving customers, not cleaning portafilter before grinding coffee, espresso left too long before mixing with the milk, bitter coffee, average service, milk not textured or up to good quality, plate dirty, milk jugs not cleaned out properly between use. My cake was good and the atmosphere great so I see potential. Could be better today… this behaviour is destroying the Nero brand

I am big fan of Neru. So may be my comments feels like biased opinion. But Neru coffee is always my first choice .

Air conditioning made it a little cold & draughty, but nice relaxing café.

This Nero is great, when it's opened, 4 times in the last month I've been half an hour after it was meant to be open and it's been closed, it's a shame because it's one of my favourite coffee shops in Leeds

I always adore Caffè Nero, their coffee is elite. I had a caramel latte in my own cup and stayed for an hour reading and enjoying people-watching. It’s a shame they ran out of almond croissants, as they are scrumptious. Maybe next time!

It’s Remembrance Sunday and the queue for this coffee shop is out the door and the two young lad baristas one of which is a trainee are holding their own though, one even managed to get me a pen mid way between serving and getting change. Totally under control, calm and thorough. Well done

What a very dreary and dirty coffee shop. There was little choice of cake, the coffee was below average and the toilet was absolutely disgusting and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks.

Love it here nice and clean. The drinks we had tasted amazing and the new Pistachio and choc mousse cake was very tasty! The trainee Asian Barista was brilliant!

I always love Cafe Nero but in this place they need to improve customer service and they need a proper batista who knows how to make a good espresso

Took up to 10 minutes to get served. Only one person serving and doing tables. Couple before us struggled with the do you want extra this and that? Think they just wanted to go in and get a coffee. Not so easy. Tables with dirty pots on. Some tables cleared but grubby with previous customers food. The girl serving was very nice and calm as the queues grew. Not for me.

Nero Cafe is considered the best cafe for me, whether in food, coffee, desserts...etc, and they are still the best for me, but unfortunately in this branch some employees are not interested or indifferent to customers, in other words, if it is my first visit to the cafe, I will not return again, but fortunately I adore Nero Cafe

Very busy. Had to squeeze 6 of us on a small table. The staff were learner barristas according to their t-shirts. Friendly but incredibly slow, maybe some experienced oversight would have helped. Nice drinks. A good place to people watch.

Not friendly workers, kept getting dirty looks

Lovely coffee, but full of students clogging up tables doing their work but not actually drinking coffee.

Unfortunately, you have one of the employees. He talks to customers in a way that is not good. Today, I was exposed to the situation of one of them talking to me, and his voice was loud in front of customers. This is not good.

The treatment was very bad from one of the female employees whose manner was inappropriate

I go to this caffe Nero as this is the most convenient one to go to. I’ve been served by the same person about 4-5 out of 6-7 times, and every single time they get my order wrong (I wish I was joking). It’s usually very busy and having worked in hospitality I completely understand and try to give my patience and understanding to the staff. Despite trying to remain friendly, this particular staff member is always rude. I don’t mind that she asks my order ahead of time, however to ask me to repeat it usually two more times and then to STILL get my order wrong gets annoying, especially when her attitude is “I really can’t be bothered with you”. One time I even tried to tell her she rung the wrong food item through and she just cut me off mid sentence… so I made sure to get the receipt to double check and indeed, she’d overcharged me when she’d put through something I hadn’t ordered. In terms of the drinks, I have to order milk alternatives due to being lactose intolerant and at this point I’m actually worried about her making my drink… I’m going to give it a shot one last time at this caffe Nero, but if it’s just a repeat case then I simply will go to a different Caffè Nero.

Had a Tuna panini and it was superb. The atmosphere was nice albeit a bit congested upstairs much more relaxed, wish we had sat there then I would have given it 5 for atmosphere. There were ..more women than men in the shop. Service however was very very slow I was told by the barrista she couldn't make me a medium coffee its got to be mild or strong..so a little disappointed

Been given dairy in my drinks too many times, instead of nondairy. Once, yeah an accident or maybe a trainee getting muddled, but it shouldn't happen so frequently especially from experienced staff, and j especially shouldn't see someone top my drink up with dairy milk because they didn't pour enough up originally ofnehat i asked for I know cross contamination is a thing too, but just being given full dairy isn't cross contamination. And it doesn't matter if its preference or allergy, treat it all like an allergy. If it's too many times for just myself, I can only imagine how many other people have been made sick due to being given something they're allergic to.

Perhaps not surprisingly, for a coffee shop, the English Breakfast Tea is awful, good service and a nice atmosphere though.

Coffee and beverages were great, so was the service, as for the atmosphere and the music it was simply so relaxing and so Xmas spirited. Simply a great place to be.

Cappuccino was very strong and bitter, luxury hot chocolate also very bitter. Didn't drink either. Had to buy bottled drinks, as staff did not want to know about our complaints.

Just finally got served at caffe nero, Leeds Headrow, the staff are working their socks off, but there just aren't enough of them. This is the thoroughfare in the City Centre and it's staffed like a small coffee shop in the middle of nowhere. Everyone has waited far too long for service and the staff seem exhausted, whoever is responsible for allocating staff hours to the store clearly isn't interested in utilising the benefits of being in such a prime location in Leeds, one person working on both the cash register and on coffees simply is not enough when half of Leeds is walking past your window. I want to make this clear: the staff were great, friendly, still maintaining a smile even though customers are obviously pretty miserable queueing. Treat them with respect and give them the staffing support they deserve.

Great coffee and a nice place to relax in

I sat behind the counter where the lights were very bright (perhaps as they were angled into that area) and next to the locked accessible toilet, lots of customers tried to use this loo and were directed upstairs by staff who were fairly busy.

I live this new Nero. Lively atmosphere and brilliantly placed.

Lovely coffee shop with a cosy, warm feel and plenty of seating and table space upstairs to get out the laptop while drinking your coffee.

Only two trainee Batista's working alone on a VERY busy Friday afternoon in prime Leeds location. They were working very hard but Café Nero should put more staff on in this big café. Poor form from Café Nero. Customers were walking out.

It’s telling that the only bad review was complaining that the staff at a brand new shop were inexperienced - like it took Sherlock levels of deduction to work out that someone who hadn’t done the job before would, shockingly, not have a huge amount of experience. However, this is an excellent store. The staff are lovely. They are always extremely helpful and working their hardest. The food and drink is, as always with Caffè Nero, top tier. And, one of the greatest benefits, it’s almost guaranteed to not have that person who complained about the staff within its walls, which means you can enjoy your coffee sans condescension.

Particularly inviting and comfy branch of Caffè Nero. Plus the girls at the counter are always friendly (even by Yorkshire standards of friendliness, which I’ve found are high). I like their chicken and bacon toastie for a quick breakfast or lunch on the run.

I have been to numerous Nero cafes and this one new one; I had many hopes. Unfortunately, it has novice staff who make frequent mistakes in taking orders, payments, and overall no sense of customer service. The last thing one wants is such employees, tarnishing brand image.

A decent cafe in a good location in Leeds city centre. There is a good amount of seating but it does get very busy at times.

Helpful and friendly staff but expensive. A bit untidy and the tables needed a clean.

Good cuppa coffee and pleasant staff. December 2021 updated review : Café Nero please buy this branch a new dishwasher. I regularly get here to find coffee is served in a paper cup as "the dishwasher has broken down". I may imagine this, but it almost seems to be a fortnightly issue. Coffee in a paper cup is basically horrible and goes cold quickly. Update September 2022 - dishwasher seems to be fixed. Pleasant staff and good range of products.

Nice, clean coffee shop. Greeted by a cordial staff. Shame the plug sockets were restricted to seats located by the windows. Seating arrangements by the window seats are arranged very awkwardly.

Great place only needs umbrella for outside seating. a little bit of rain shouldn’t cancel sitting out side as it’s a good view.

Excellent, friendly and very conveniently placed coffee shop within the town centre. Great staff who are quick and smiley and plenty of space for both those who want a quick coffee and others who want to linger for longer. And the coffee's good, too!
