Caffe Italiano in Wiltshire

UPDATE: Sadly Caffè Italiano has now closed. Carlo and family are the new owners of this lovely little restaurant as Mamma Nadia has retired. We've been three times since Carlo took over and I can say that the place is as good as it ever was. It's lovely to see his wife and very small children in the place. We went for lunch today and the place was full. A mixture of couples and families it was buzzing. This place needs the support of customers old and new. You'll get a very warm welcome and great food! Always good. Our regular eatery that is a lovely little piece of Italy in Trowbridge. Family owned and run with food freshly prepared. We absolutely love the place.

Found by chance what a nice meal

If I can give this place 0 stars I would. Reserved a table for 730pm place empty and chef sitting on chair in corner on his phone. Took several minutes and a few hellos to get anyone’s attention. Order starters and pizza which took rather long . When ordering we checked if pizza had pine nuts. Waitress checked with kitchen and said yes. (Last time they had none so ordered something g different) however when pizza arrived it was covered with chopped peanuts instead which were also raw on a cold pizza. Food unseasoned and chef tried to suggest the pesto contains pine nuts instead. Constantly making excuses. Attitude towards us as customer was really poor. We asked to take our pizza and leave. Both pizzas stuffed in one box piled up. Obviously ripped to fit in box by staff. Then was charged a 15 % service charge because we asked for a box ?? For those weary of allergies. This chef is not able to comprehend that there are possibly people coming to your place who may have some knowledge of food and grew up in Italy so understood your mumbled Italian comment

We’ve dined in and get take out often, they’re the best, proper family run Italian, much better than any chains.

Spontaneous evening meal with husband. Nice size restaurant. Food was amazing, authentic Italian food and nice atmosphere Takeaway pizzas are busy and when you try them they understand why. A gem in Trowbridge when u know u know. Will return and recommend to friends 👌

This was our first time ordering takeaway pizza from Caffe Italiano and WOW! Our pizzas were delicious! Super-fresh ingredients and a magnificent taste! We’ll definitely be back for more!

Delicious pizza, pasta and risotto, and the best of all, in a nice and friendly atmosphere. The ideal place to have lunch in town with your family or friends, especially during the cold days. Thank you Carlo and Funda.

Overall rating overestimated. We chose this restaurant based on the Google rating and we were disappointed.. we would have given it a two but the three was saved by the kindness of the very young waitress. As a starter, bruschetta but served on soft bread. This would be sacrilege in Italy. The pasta was served to us two minutes after we were served the starter. The waitress quickly understood that it was not ok. Once the starter was finished we were brought back the cold pasta. They immediately agreed to reheat them. But tasteless pasta. The wine was very good.

Nous avons choisi ce restaurant sur base de l évaluation Google et nous avons étés déçus.. nous aurions mis un deux mais le trois est sauvé par la gentillesse de la très jeune serveuse. En entrée des bruschetta mais servies sur du pain mou . Ceci serait un sacrilège en Italie. Les pâtes nous ont êtres servies deux minutes après nous avoir servi l entrée. La serveuse a très vite compris que pas ok. Une fois l entrée finie on nous a ramené les pâtes froides . Ils ont tout de suite accepté de les réchauffer. Mais pâtes insipides.

Went here for lunch with my daughter and one of my grandsons. We had pizza. It was home cooked, large and delicious. Menu looked good and varied. We may try here for a dinner some time.

Had a very pleasent lunch with friends today . Staff were nice and welcoming .

This business has recently changed hands but has remained with an Italian family. I think they are still getting settled in - when we ordered takeaway they were cash only as no card machine and it felt a bit less organised than usual but the pizzas were still delicious. However we did not get the usual 10% discount for takeaway or any freebies. Not sure if a change of policy or they just forgot and we didn’t think to ask.

Heard of this place a couple months ago but me and my boyfriend decided to try it today. Such a small and cute cozy place and the staff were friendly. Not to mention how lovely the food was, the taste was amazing and so was the portion sizes. Amazing place! Couldn’t recommend enough!!

Oh my goodness! We discovered this restaurant really by accident but I'm so glad we did! Everything about it was wonderful, from the food to the ambience and the staff and we'll be going back very soon. Thank you for the great service Carlos!

Traditional Italian restaurant with great pizzas, excellent service and good prices; it's now our favourite for pizzas - they do a very good trade in take out too.

If you want authentic Italian stone baked thincrust pizza this is the place, great pizza, great pasta and risotto, homemade desserts including amazing homemade tiramisu, delicious. Friendly, charming, family run Italian pizzeria and ristorante.

We love the food at Caffe Italiano! We’ve eaten in the restaurant and had takeout pizza from here and both experiences were 5 star!! The staff are so friendly and make you feel like family. Highly recommend <3

Popped in here for some food before we went to cinema. The welcome was warm, the menu full of tempting options. The food was delicious, portions generous and served fresh from the kitchen so nice and hot. Prices are very reasonable. Good little find.

Another fantastic takeaway last night, delicious Arabiatta pasta with cheese bread and a meat pizza. To my surprise and joy was offered a free piece of cake as our order was over £20 so I couldn’t not sample the Tiramisu and it was amazing!! Thank you so much!

Great family business. Food is fantastic

The best pizza we have eaten in an age. Fabulous garlic bread if you spend over £20. When we collected the restaurant menu looked great so looking forward to eating in soon. The nepoletana was a prefect balance of salt, capers, acidity of the tomtato sauce and the calabra x 2 disappeared in minutes. Before you reach for the Dominos delivery give this place a go.

Have had a couple of takeaways from here during lockdown and they have been excellent - my favourite is the cannelloni, but also had some great pizzas. Always friendly and food is authentic and fresh.

Three of us plus a baby came here for a weekday lunch. Fantastic food and good down to earth customer service. Without any fuss the owner cleared space for our baby's pram. One of our party described the carbonara as, "the best he ever had." I loved my pizza - which I chose to have with vegan cheese. Definitely a place we will be coming back to! A good kids menu is available for when the baby gets older.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! We’ve been coming here for years and it’s a small family run business, friendly service every time and the food is always fresh. Not many places like this anymore, it’s nice to see a family run place instead of the big chains out there. If you want authentic Italian then look no further.

Had a wonderful lunch in here. It is run by a lovely Italian family so the food is something special. It is tucked away down a side street so a hidden gem. We have been here for lunch and in the evening and it is a favourite of ours. It has a good varied menu and well worth a visit.

Lunch with friends who work not 100 yards from this restaurant so easy to access. Good food and plentiful, always good with real Italian hospitality. Look at the specials board the Branzino (sea bass) very good.

Well, I do not know why it took me so long to find this little place. Brill Pizza, too much for me, brought some home in a box ! Napolitana: Anchovies, Capers & Black Olives, cooked beautifully. I am salivating now as I write this. I have no hesitation in adding my 5 Star opinion. I fully intend to have coffee there again soon. I'll need to consider a smaller option food wise ! 5 Stars is not enough in terms of value: Under £10 to sit for a splendid brunch with Cappuccino. Bellissimo.

I wandered around Trowbridge on a rainy day looking for somewhere to eat lunch, and getting progressively more depressed by the offerings (stodgy pub food, chain fare (Wagamama, Nandos etc., boring sandwiches). The wonderfully helpful man in the Information Centre told me Caffe Italiano was his favourite spot to eat, and unusually was a BYO place. If you like hip or stylish interiors, stop reading now:this is seriously old-school, with school cafeteria-type tables and chairs, grungy lighting and faded tourist pictures of Italy on the walls. The owner, a friendly Italian lady, seems to run the place by herself. I chose the lunch deal, a generous plate of penne arrabiatta with a side salad for £8.30 or so, and my companion a Napolitana pizza. Both were fantastic, especially with our BYO Chianti. The Italian lady said she made her own cakes and puddings, which looked very enticing and change all the time apparently (today was tiramisu, chocolate coconut cheese cake or the lusciously alcoholic amaretto cream and almond sponge concoction that I went for). Two generous and delicious mains, one salad, one lush dessert and one excellent espresso later, our bill was a very reasonable £20. There is Italian love for food in this place. I hope Trowbridge returns the love! I will never eat anywhere else in Trowbridge.

Great little authentic Italian restaurant tucked away!

This was a little gem. Great food. Very friendly service. Even let us take puddings as a takeaway, as we were so full from the large portions of our main meals. Prices very reasonable. Nice to find a restaurant that isn't a chain brand.

A lovely little family run restaurant that offers a taste of Itaty in Trowbridge. We went as a small famiy group and had mains and dessert, the tiramisu being recommended. We were well attended by staff, while the restaurant was buzzing with other customers - more family groups. We enjoyed eating everything we ordered, and would happily go again soon.

Lovely home-cooked Italian - have never had a bad meal here. Always reasonably priced. The young lady behind the till who also serves is a sweetie.

We visited for my mother’s birthday meal in the evening. We were greeted by the lady owner, plus the wait staff and shown to our reserved table. The menu was extensive, with a very good range of seafood and veggie options.

An exquisite, quaint Italian. Family run, very welcoming and friendly. My friends have been coming here for years and introduced me to this place. The portions are very generous. This place has a great atmosphere, subtle music in the background, very much able to talk to the person opposite you. I'm gutted, I forgot to take pictures of the food, it was that good! Doh!

Have been going to this little cafe/restaurant for a few years now. On visiting recently, I was surprised that the prices, which used to be very reasonable, have gone up a lot. The vegetable soup served with bread, which was very pleasant, has now gone up to £6.50 which is a bit steep for a lunchtime snack. This is one of the cheapest things on the menu. Think I can find better value and quality elsewhere.

A wonderful family run restaurant and take away. The family cannot do enough to make your visit a special experience. The food is deliciously authentic. I would recommend trying the hot chocolate, it's just wonderful to round off a delicious meal.

We absolutely love coming here, they're amazing with the children and we are made to feel like part of the family! The food is proper traditional Italian food from pizza to fantastic deserts. Brilliant at lunch time and very reasonably priced, and makes for a lovely romantic evening meal too! Nadia runs the show and is mostly joined by her children :) Definitely worth a visit even if it's just for the hot chocolate which is sublime

I absolutely love this place and always rave about how amazing their pizzas are. And wow how amazing they now do delivery for takeaways. Now I know Friday nights are busy nights and was happy to wait for the delivery but was a bit disappointed when it turned up Stone cold. We only live a 2 minute drive from the cafe so was shocked to find it so cold. I won't stop me ordering again because let's face it they do the best pizzas in town and love that they are a family run business. Just think they need to look at their delivery service for future to ensure the food is all delivered hot x
