Caffe Concerto in City of London, Westminster

Came here 27th Oct with my cousin for a coffee and cake....what an absolute rip off! Service was diabolical - dirty tables and clearly stressed out staff. £30 for a soft drink, coffee and 2 cakes. The black forest was absolutely tasteless! Clearly a venue meant to rip of the tourists. Stay away!

We popped in for a coffee, cake and sandwich and were seated next to the entrance opposite the bar with a view into the kitchen. The place looked unclean, messy and dirty. The floors were being mopped whilst we were there and the dirt was clearly visible, there were packs of water just sat on the floor and there was a piece of paper stuck to the till saying “no crepes or matcha”. All things I do not think a customer should be seeing. There were a lot of half empty and dirty glasses from the cleared tables on the bar, which I understand is a necessity but I do not think it appropriate to have a table right next to this. Dishes must also have been being washed here too which was very loud and noisy as they were being banged around. Again, an inappropriate place for a table to be. We ordered two coffees which were absolutely fine and we had no issue with. We did not order a sandwich as it was nearly £20 for a sandwich with fries. We did order cake, the one we originally wanted was not available so we accepted an alternative suggestion. This arrived to our table and was falling apart, had condensation all over the plastic and looked as though it had been sat out for days. It was a small slice and the quality did not justify the £8 price. We sent this back due to the abysmal appearance without trying it with a waiter who seemed confused and offered no apology. I’m confused as to why anyone would send out cake that looked in this condition. When we got the bill, the cost of the cake was still on there and we had to explain several times that we sent it back as it was really poorly presented and did not look fresh. The two ladies who served us were polite and friendly, so no complaints there. The place did not seem overly busy, but all the staff seemed to be rushing around and there didn’t appear to be much communication or understanding of what was going on and caused a stressful atmosphere, which isn’t pleasant to be around when you’re going somewhere for a drink or food. We witnessed food being sent back to the kitchen by other customers, and due to our proximity to the kitchen we could hear the staff disapproving of this and heard one member of staff say “seriously?” rather loudly and in a condescending manner. This is thoroughly unprofessional, and certainly should not be said within earshot of customers. The prices on the menu are elevated (nearly £5 for a Coke) and from what we witnessed the atmosphere, quality and service do not reflect the cost. I would not return here and would not recommend to others.

Waited a while to use the disabled toilet. A member of staff came out of the toilet and I pointed out it was a disabled toilet, she rudely told me I could use either toilet. I highlighted my two crutches and said no, I need the disabled toilet. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Charming!

Booked a table online for 1pm, was waiting outside for ages before we got begrudgingly given a table which turned out to be extremely wobbley. Slow service, nothing came out together just at random. we ordered arancini balls which came out extremely burned we questioned this with the waitress Modesta who looked at us, then the food and literally walked away without saying anything, we then told this to the manager who just told us she was busy. absolutely dreadful service

Food hard and cold. SERVICE POOR. Most staff didn't know the menu at all and had to keep confirming order, and still wrong. Staff had no idea what was in the afternoon teas the different choices in sides. Spend your money else where
