This is a really nice cafe. IMO the best coffee in Surbiton and with a nice seating area - which I guess not many people know about. The pastries are easily the best in Surbiton. Bit of a gem.

Every time he comes to Surbiton my grandson heads straight to Sopratutto for an amazing ice cream. All the flavours are delicious and this is real ice cream, Italian style, I would thoroughly recommend. I would say this is more a take away cake coffee and ice cream bar rather than a sit down restaurant, it is tiny, but there are a couple of tables outside.

If you tire of big noisy cafes in Surbiton, Soprattutto fits the bill as a good place for individuals. It's a thin sliver of a coffee shop, serving ice creams as well as the usual array of biscuits and cakes. The cafe has had lots of different incarnations (K's, Delicafe, Amici etc), and no one has been able to make it pay as it has so few covers in such a tiny corridor. But full marks to everyone for persistence. You can almost always get a small table to yourself. Seats 20, strong coffee with a toasted flavour.

I have visited a few times with family and on my own and have enjoyed every visit. The shop is very petite and cosy. Coffee is fantastic and the food is great too and all reasonably priced. They offer pastries and sweet treats including ice creams. And also panini, soups and pasta dishes. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly. There are toilet facilities available I would say that this coffee shop might not be suitable for wheelchair or pram access as it's quite narrow.

I came here this afternoon for some lunch with a friend of mine. At first it looked very nice by the entrance. Once ordered and sat down. We noticed it was a tad grubby. Started with our table feeling sticky and our tea cups were a little stained. When our food arrived...my ham and cheese croissant was soggy and did not look edible . My friend "chicken salad" was even worse! Very burnt and hard. It just wasn't pleasant at all. So we ended up leaving. The place it self could do a make over and more attentive chef!

I've raved about this place for years to anyone who'll listen, so I was sad to see that standards have really slipped. Firstly, the girl serving didn't seem to understand me, when I asked for the papers, she gave me a piece of paper (turns out they've stopped providing papers at the weekend, such a shame). She also assumed I was ordering the aubergine parmigiana, when I'd just asked if it was available. I'd have ordered it anyway, but she needs to work on her communication! When the food arrived it was TINY. Absolutely delicious, hence the 4 stars but really really small portions (have had this dish before). When I questioned it, the guy said ' I don't decide the portion size' charming! Not giving up on this place as the coffee and food is fantastic, just hope they read this and make some changes.

The best place for a coffee in Surbiton - by miles. It's a very narrow frontage, and easily overlooked. The tables are hardly visible from the street. Discovered it only a couple of weeks ago, and have since been back twice. Coffee is very good - delivered with a glass of water - but best of all is that the pastries come with a little cup of real dark chocolate for dipping. And fantastic value, too. Current deal of large coffee plus pastry and chocolate cost around £3.50.

Set behind a tiny shop face, Amici offers a limited menu : Coffees, and other drinks, with cakes and Italian delicacies, plus a variety of panini and a few hot pasta dishes etc, authentic in style. In my experience, all are of good quality, and acceptable cost. The area is small, and may be judged cramped or "friendly", depending on when and with whom you are there. Many clients seem to be "dropping-in" for a quick snack ... as well as occasional family groups etc. I like the atmosphere.

It was just before lunchtime, my wife was going to the gym, she needed the loo, we went across to the YMCA, I thought we might have lunch there. I sat and waited and waited, plenty of older folks drifted in for lunch and the Monday specials. Eventually my wife reappeared but we headed across to the bus stop. I had my eye on Cafe Amici but she really didn't fancy it, too small, too dark. I said come on lets give it a quick try - I'd walked past so many times and wondered what it was like. Yes it is small but I suppose you could say it has a certain charm. I think it trades on being authentic Italian. The cappuccino was small but tasty. The green tea absolutely fine in a pot. We were served separate glasses of water too. The nibbles looked tempting but we didn't try them. Change from a fiver.

I opted for the meatball foccacia which I enjoyed but next time I will swap the mozzarella for a different cheese. We aren't coffee drinkers but could tell the coffee would be good here. A delicious chocolate brownie finished off our quick lunch perfectly. Nice to see an independent coffee shop making a name for itself on a high Street otherwise riddled with chains that lack the personal, friendly touch you can get here. I wasn't a fan of the small tables but that's a personal choice and they've done the best with what little space they have. We will be back and next time i shall be trying the lasagne.

Surbiton’s smallest café is also its cutest.Down the years many have tried – and successively failed – to make a go of this tiny sliver of a shop, sandwiched into a gap between the nail bars and estate agents of Victoria Road.Back in the noughties it was K’s Bites, a lunchtime takeaway which did reasonably good coffee, and had half a dozen stools to perch on.In early 2013 it became the Lebanese DeliCafe, run by the cheery, laid-back Mo Dardouk. But the eight seats he crammed in were simply not enough to make it viable, and he shipped out to run his café in the open air in nearby Kingston Market Place. Then, at the start of 2015, along came business buddies Stefano and Giuseppe, and their first venture, Caffe Amici, was born. They expanded the customer space, and can now squeeze in more than 20 people, all intimately sharing table space on low mini-benches, covered with cushions. You also share conversations. It’s so tightly packed that you invariably say hello to neighbours, bringing back the art of coffee house conversation and debate to London. The snack range is imaginative, Italian and chocolatey. There is wi-fi and a full range of lunchtime food, particularly panini. But the key to a good café is the coffee, and Amici’s is rich, toasty with an excellent burnt-nut flavour; full, strong and envigorating. Each cup is served, as it should be, with a glass of water.Because of the narrowness of the café, it excludes the double-buggy yummy mummies. They have to go up the road to Starbucks, leaving Amici to exist as a true Italian café, filled with coffee aromas and chat.

As a local customer, my hubby and I often take lunch away. I'm really glad they open such a charming tasty cafe nearby location. They also sell cakes and Italian food stuff, so handy!! I call it Little Italy in Surbiton.

This place serves great coffee in true Italian style. You won't get a "grande" cappuccino here, it really is served just like the coffees in Italy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. At the weekend they give out small pastries or biscotti to try, very welcome. I have tried a focaccia sandwich, which was fantastic. Really fresh bread and very large. Someone mentioned that the coffee is better at The Press Room, whilst I agree their coffee is good, it is not done in the proper Italian style. Yes the seats are a little uncomfortable, but this place is tiny and I'm sure they would lose space if they used anything different. So if you like your coffee Italian style this is the place to go.

Visited for a short coffee break to catch up with family. Really friendly staff in a small and cosy pace. Would definitely stop by again.

The coffee was too hot, burnt in taste, and looked like it had come out of a hospital vending machine, undrinkable. I'm sure when people say this is Italian coffee they are right, but if you've ever tried Bar Italia in Soho then there is no comparison at all. The best coffee in Surbiton remains The Press Room.I hate leaving bad reviews, so I will swing by this place again in a few months and hope I get something that makes me come back and delete this review.

I popped into this cafe hoping that i could do some work. I ordered a latte, which was lovely. I really enjoyed it. BUT, the tables and chairs are not designed for customers to stay long...chairs were too uncomfortable to sit. what a shame..really what a shame...so i had to finish my coffee very quicky to move to some other coffee shop to carry on my work. The staff was extremely friendly, I really think they are lovely. I had 10p short in cash to my my latte, and the owner said 'don't worry, you pay next time' - ok, 10p was not much, but i loved this time of hospitality and made me want to go back there again. can you please change the furniture?

Delicious Italian coffee and baked goods. We had large croissants served with butter and jam with our coffees. However, the inside seating was backless and didn't look comfortable so we sat at the one outside table with proper chairs. It is a small narrow shop, not very inviting looking, and I hope if they are successful that maybe they can expand to larger premises.

This little place gets better and better. And friendlier and friendlier. They now do a bigger range of pastries including some bite size ones at under a pound (if all you want is just a nibble to go with your drink) . My only quibble is with the uncomfortable and backless stools. Not for lingering on! They are I appreciate pushed for space but the seating arrangement might benefit from a little rethink in due course.

OK, so if you live coffee, come here! It's the only place locally that serves real coffee. That said, the food is pretty decent too as are the smoothies. Music is all Italian here which is a nice touch and the tables are laden with books about coffee (what else!?). Oh and the final thing to point out is that cake is superb here as is the service. If this place wasn't in Surbiton you could imagine it being in Rome or Florence.

Lovely little place. Great coffee. Personal service. Everthing prepared and served with care, passion and attention to detail. Attentive, personal and informal. But it's very small. And the stools are not particularly comfortable!

If you like coffee, then this is your place. Each table is filled with books (written in Italian) about coffee. That said, its worth sampling the milkshakes and smoothies here which for me, are the real heroes of Amici.Food is surprisingly good here with generous portions freshly made. The music is great too, with the sound system being powered by YouTube.Great place to take a good book or a laptp and hide for an afternoon. The owners are authentically Italian and very welcoming. They have a loyalty card system too for regulars.

I'm Italian and I'm a coffee lover and finally I found a place where I can have an espresso, the real one. Try out even the focaccia sandwich: it's amazing and mouthwatering! Very friendly staff. I'm an usual customer now. Be aware: it can provoke addiction!

I'd heard fabulous things about this place and was not disappointed when my partner and I arrived for a Sunday afternoon coffee and cake fix. It is a breathe of fresh air; delicious Italian cakes and delicacies, delicious coffees and a nice and quiet atmosphere. The staff there are super friendly and welcoming. I can only hope it doesn't get so popular that you can't fit people inside!

Sorrento gets it right - a perfectly lit, warm atmosphere; staff who are polite and friendly; food that is great quality and not overpriced. This has been somewhere for our family to have special meals for years now.
