We have been chilling here for 5 years. The food is amazing (burger, steak, veal!!). The calamari is superb. The staff are all very friendly and everything is done to make sure you are happy. They are always happy to change the dishes for us such as swapping parties for pasta. They have improved the glasses for children too. I'm very happy to support a local restaurant like this.

This place has all the rustic charms of an Italian trattoria and yet has extensive menu including stone baked pizzas, pastas, seafood delicacies and sumptuous desserts. The service is super fast, by a friendly staff. This restsurant is always full of clients, is noisy but we love it. Always a great favourite amongst our family and friends alike.

I'm a customer who just eating pizza in al forno only and I believe they are italian and they are doing the fresh . But today I surprised. The pizza wasn't fresh . I was asking them to give them back but my friend said leave it . I never going there anymore. 🤬🤬🤬

This is the jewel of the crown for Italian restaurantsand food in New Malden! The food was on point and especially seasoned to perfection! Both of our meals were made fresh, sauces devine and served with a smile, positivity and passion for the excellent food they serve. The service was warm, welcoming and the waiter serving us genuinely took time to talk to us. Very rare these days. Atmosphere relaxed and welcoming, music choice chilled and at the right low level volume and again cannot fault the friendly service by all. House white wine delicious. Had the misto fritto. Big portions very nice but not so traditional in that it was a mixture of squid whitebait and sea bass fillets. All in all very enjoyable and great service as always.

Al Forno is such a warm and welcoming place with a family atmosphere, just the perfect venue for my own family gathering yesterday. 13 of us enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch together and received impeccable service. The manager carefully listened to my requests beforehand , arranged flowers for the table and took great care with those members of the party who had food allergies. We all had a great time - thank you!

Thoroughly recommend this local gem. We stopped by chanc eon a journey and loved it. Our 3 and 5 year old loved their pizza, I had a lovely fish stew, and my partner had lamb, all of it was lovely. Really friendly and attentive staff.

Quite frankly, words fail me. I celebrated my 80th birthday on EASTER sunday together with nearly 40 family and friends. Everyone enjoyed themselves enormously in no small part by the fantastic staff for whom nothing was too much trouble with amazing, friendly service by them throughout. Everyone got the meal they requested from the usual very wide menu, excellent quality as usual - not a grumble from anybody. My thanks to all at Al Forno for a memorable experience.

Mushroom pasta was flavourless it’s just cream and mushrooms the potatoes side with the breaded chicken were too old and dry. I tried peppe at Kingston and I had exactly the same mushrooms pasta and it was soo good

Took over 2hrs hours for our cold food to arrive. Put Cheese on my partners diner when she said no cheese. Had the cheek to try and add 20% service charge. The worst. This place use to he great under the old management.

An old favourite, never lets you down. Another lovely meal, great atmosphere and service responsive to every need (two milks for the tea!). Even the defiant child who refused everything on the menu was eventually won over and left happy.

Disappointing. Service started off well but got worse as the meal went on to the point we gave up on ordering a sweet. Food was ok. Wouldn’t bother going back a 2nd time.

First, service was the worst. We were rushed and not attended enough throughout the evening. We try to order something, and midway through the order, the waitress decides to just leave the table leaving us with outstanding requests. This kept happening during the whole dinner. Second, the tagliolini with truffle were so tasteless and bland, I had to keep adding salt, pepper, chilli olive oil just to get some taste out of it so I can finish my plate. And I am usually not a fussy eater. The pasta itself was undercooked and very doughy/chewy, too. We ordered extra pepperoni on our pizza, and in our opinion, there was no visible difference to the amount of salami put on it. What came out to us is what it would normally would've come out with. Thirdly, I ordered a tiramisu which I was really looking forward to, given all the experinece so far, that this will wash all the bad away. How wrong was I... The tiramisu was nothing short of a small whiskey size glass stuffed with layer of lady fingers and a layer of mascarpone with just a shy amount of sprinkled cocoa on top. Upon looking closely at the so-called tiramisu dessert, I noticed that the lady fingers were so dry and not soaked in coffee at all. I decided that I won't be having this and wished to return it. When we received the bill and after we paid for everything we had but the tiramisu, we were asked by our waiter how our food was. So we though, oh, someone actually cares and wants to know, how nice. Little did we know that no one actually cared, and the only reason we were asked this was so that we can be told by the Manager how wrong we are, how we have no right to complain about the food or the service, how as a goodwill gesture we weren't charged 2 pounds for the extra pepperoni (which on the contrary was on the bill, and we paid for with no objections), how the Manager is sick of customers telling them how Italian food should or should not be, how we have no right to object or say anything negatively about their precious chef's dishes, how we don't understand nothing, etc. In conclusion, and after reading through previous reviews too, I can confidently say that this seems to not have been nor will be the first or last case. There seems to be a clear pattern and common complaints about same thing, but that no one will ever take that constructive feedback away and try to improve. Needless to say after years of supporting this local business, we will no longer be returning. Not just for the terrible food experience, but more so for the horrible customer service we received from the Manager.

I recently tried 'Tagliolini Nordic'. I don't know why the name is Nordic. So, while ordering the food, I was a bit confused. There were pork and mushrooms in a creamy sauce. It was savoury as I think. If they offered more funghi options, it would be perfection! BTW I'm thinking of revisiting here!

Food was good but service a lot to be desired, we waited nearly an hour for our starter and almost another before our main course arrived, we even cleared our plates from the table ourselves as we got fed up sitting with dirty plates in front of us, I know they were busy but not our problem, its a shame as the food was good when it arrived but we wont be going back

My daughter chose this restaurant very last minute. They were able to accommodate us for 8pm which was perfect. I never leave a tip but on this occasion I did because of the great accommodating experience, great food, and wonderful staff I can not fault this restaurant. If you want great service and food come here. They were so busy zooming up and down, but they still had time and thought of their customers. We didn’t ask or tell them it was my daughters 18th birthday but they brought over a tiramisu cake with candle and sang her happy birthday with music. Was totally unexpected and really made her night special. You can’t get a better experience in my opinion then Al fornos

Celebrated my 60th birthday with some friends here and we had a really nice time. It was a Saturday night so the restaurant was busy but somehow not too noisy which was great.

We arrived at 12pm and there was only one table occupied (not busy at all), we sat at the table and we're served by a very unhappy waiter. We proceed to order our drinks and food and had to wait 20 minutes for a garlic bread that we ordered for starter and another 10 for the main course, despite the fact that there was only one other table occupied. To make matters worse a table with people that arrived after us ordered garlic bread for starter as well was served before us all because they seemed to know the manager and were there chatting and laughing with him (nothing against that but I don't think it's fair/professional that they are served before people that have arrived before and have been waiting for longer). Very disappointed!

I did a deliveroo and I wasn’t expecting the Calzone that arrived. It was basically a half Pizza with toppings. They should’ve put a better description of their version of Calzone. Too pricy and not a good Calzone. I would have out 0 star but I can’t.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of New Malden. A Frank Sinatra tribute act was singing during our dinner service & he was really good. Knew how to get the crowd singing & dancing along. The food choices were so good, it was difficult to choose what to eat! I opted for the chilli prawns to start with lamb shank as a main. Both dishes were flavoursome & presented well.

Although the service was slow, I must admit, it was very,very busy. The place was full, and people were waiting to be seated. A little bit loud for my liking, but you could still hear yourself. The food was fantastic, really tasty. Book before you go.

Lovely food and nice relaxed atmosphere

Hands down one of the best Italian places in London & Surrey I've been to. The starters, especially the mussels aka Cozze Marinara, come in a good size and are quite tasty. The pasta dishes, especially the 2 seafood pasta dishes, are simply delicious and quite filling, yet more affordable than a few of the Italian restaurant chains around, and the desserts are equally wonderful.
