One of the best breakfast experiences in Edinburgh Really good and really friendly service. A down to earth restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. I had a full Scottish breakfast which was a large plate of quality sausage, egg, hash brown, tattie scone, haggis, black pudding, beans and bacon all cooked to perfection, complete with the coldest orange juice in the universe and a rich americano coffee. Just the best ... One minute walk from the "the shore" tram stop.

Was out walking the dog and I've been here often so fancied lunch. I had chilli and chips and a latte. Dog had a slice of banana cake (he loves it). Food was great as usual, fresh made and the guys who have the place are so friendly. Would recommend that if you are nearby then you should definitely try it.

We walked 2 miles to get to this place which we found deserted except for 2 employees, one of whom had a consistent cough. The place had a strong smell of old fryer oil. It was not pretty or quaint in any way. We were so put off by the atmosphere that we left without eating and found a cheerful, busy brunch place very close by.

Delicious food and lovely staff. The owners were so welcoming - they were absolute dream boats to my wee dog too. This is a gorgeous cafe with a great menu and the most homely atmosphere. I moved up to Edinburgh 2 years ago and wish I had found these guys earlier. I cannot wait to bring my friends and family here in future. Please pop by if you're visiting. You won't regret it

Popped in at the Cafe this afternoon to catch up on emails and enjoy a nice coffee.. As always I was welcomed with open arms by the staff and couldn't resist but try one of the toasted club sandwiches. Tasted great and less than a fiver, just look at that beauty. Good start too the afternoon in Leith.

My wife urgently needed to do some printing for the nearby visa office and couldn't find an internet cafe open. Aubrey at Marmalade was extremely helpful and let her use his computer and printer without any issue. Service over and above the call of duty and he wouldn't accept payment for it either. Definitely one of the good guys!! I hear that the coffee and sandwiches are great too!!

We came across this cafe on a cold dark New Year's Day; the few other places open in Leith were all closing early, so we were delighted to find somewhere so welcoming. We had a huge pot of tea (and when we asked for more hot water we were also given more tea bags without charge) and the banana and walnut loaf we tried was very good. The owner is very friendly, and plans to hold 'raclette nights' in future. The prices are extremely good for Edinburgh - a pot of tea and two slices of cake came to under £5 - there are many establishments where the bill would have been double or even treble that amount. Well worth a visit and I would certainly go back next time I am in Leith.

Went in for breakfast on New Year's Day. Such a warm welcome! We had an assortment of things from scrambled eggs to bacon sarnies with teas and coffees etc which came in at less than £15 for 4! All delicious and served with a smile. It's a 2 minute walk from Malmaison where it will cost you that per person! If you are staying there, or anywhere nearby, I highly recommend it

Often working in Leith and find myself looking for a place to have a coffee and catch up online. The staff at CAFE Marmalade are always friendly and welcoming, pricing is very reasonable and the home cooked menu is beautiful. My big recommendation is to try the Nessy's stovie, a family inspired recipe. Safe to say this has become my local favorite, thanks for having me! Many of there latest offerings get updated on their facebook page @CAFE Marmalade.. Enjoy !!!

Popped in today for a light lunch and a coffee. Quite an unassuming place. If you're looking for fancy surroundings then this isn't really for you, but if you want tasty food at a decent price then this is the place to go. The staff were very polite and welcoming. Our quiche for lunch was tasty, then the desert, home made cake like none I've ever tasted before. It was simply delicious. Will be back. Point to note though its cash only but at the prices it isn't a problem.

I heard about how awesome the bacon roll was here so I went to get one. £3 for a coffee and bacon roll, sweet! The bacon was tasty but kinda soggy and not crispy, it seemed like it was just microwaved. So I was disappointed. But it's a friendly place and I'd recommend popping in for good value and tastiness but the bacon roll had maybe been bigger up to me too much.

I liked everything about this little cafe. A full scottish breakfast for £3.95, amazing lattes only £2, a lovely friendly guy serving us on a quiet Saturday morning at the end of March. He was serving, cooking, basically doing everything and couldn't have been nicer. Breakfast was amazing and it restored my faith that you can eat well (and cheaply) in Leith after a horrendous meal the previous evening.Well done and I wish more people would visit instead of paying extortionate prices around the corner.

My son fancied a bacon butty after going on an Edinburgh bike tour. Rusty recommended Marmalade...We had 4 big mugs of the best hot chocolate I have had. We then had bacon butties (the lads went for another one as they were soooo good). The staff and service were really friendly and helpful. We were dripping wet, but no complaints. The food was surprisingly inexpensive, especially considering the quality. Please open one in Holmes Chapel!

Having read other Trip Advisor reviews, perhaps my experience was the exception rather than the rule. However, an experience that involved being served a raw chicken ciabatta, prepared with questionable hygiene practices (the individual doing so had pretty much entered the premises, failed to wash their hands and began putting everything together with their bare hands) can only merit a poor review. To top things off the ciabiatta was dumped in a paper bag in such a way that it promptly fell apart before being handed over the counter! A shame really given the other positive feedback, but in the interests of avoiding I'll health, I don't anticipate visiting again soon.

I go there most days of the work week to takeaway vegetarian soup and sometimes a falafel wrap. The food has been consistently good and the service has always been friendly. The food is cheaper than other cafes in this area. They have some tables inside and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. I would highly recommend this cafe.

I've visited marmalade several times now and have been impressed every time. I regularly pop in to this friendly cafe for a take out sandwich as they are so reasonably priced (around £2.60) and have a fantastic selection of fillings, ranging from cured meats to sundried tomatoes and red coleslaw. I have also visited for a very reasonably priced breakfast a few times and again have been impressed with the quality. One of the most reasonably priced cafes in leith but certainly not a greasy spoon!!

I have found myself becoming something of a frequent visitor to Cafe Marmalade, drawn in as much by the lovely staff as the great coffees and breakfast offerings. The full Scottish breakfast (with toast) is filling without blowing you out and at £3.95 it keeps your wallet full too!Every town should have a Cafe Marmalade. Better still, everyone should visit this little wonder of Leith and help it thrive.

My boyfriend and I arrived early Friday morning in Leith, unable to get into our B&B yet. We pulled all our luggage into Cafe Marmalade to a warm welcome and sat down to an amazing breakfast while we figured out our next steps. The granola here is the best I've ever had anywhere. I wish I could have it every day. Everyone is amazingly friendly too. The lattes are fantastic. I wish this cafe was where I lived.

They offer wide variety of fillings for rolls and sandwiches. It is best option for a quick lunch during work hours. Also rates are quite reasonable.
