We unfortunately had a coach breakdown on our Lochs & Glens holiday day out but another driver kindly dropped us at the Lomond site. Pouring of rain we walked through Fraser and found the Zest Cafe. Lovely welcoming staff and total surprise they sold gluten free cake ! We enjoyed the friendly camaraderie from all the people in there eating with family and obedient dogs. Wonderful to see. We said goodbye and trooped out to find no coach yet so went bk to the cafe where the staff held up a strawberry slice they were waiting to defrost and I had it and it was lush! They welcomed us all back as friends . A lovely experience and service and cleanliness was 10/10

Lomond shores has gone way down hill. The retail space is upmarket in terms of pricing but because of their policy is welcoming dogs be prepared for having the attentions of a wet nose when you sit down to try on shoes. This disappointing experience carries into Cafe Zest. The display of food looks appetising but the coffee is poor and the scones often dry. On top of that they welcome dogs but there is no area where you are free to enjoy your food and beverage away from dogs eating off the floor or worse still the tables. I love the sound of happy children but the incessant dog barking we endured last week spoiled the experience. The walkway around the lake is a dog poo obstacle course

Very disappointing. The website advertises vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals. Whilst it is possible that vegetarians would get a good meal, vegans or those requiring gluten free food would be very disappointed. The allergen information is not clearly displayed and every sign says you must ask individually. This makes it very inaccessible. They had a few plant based cakes and some they called "very low gluten". Why?! The singular vegan option was a vegan option to a cheese and tomato toastie. Inexplicably this came without the tomato which raises some very interesting questions. The location is very busy and not as scenic as you imagine. I wouldn't stop here again.

Don't like giving bad reviews, but this place was honestly awful. The queue was huge, then a coach party joined to make it even longer. People were waiting for ages. The review before mine is correct when the lady said she had waited for a while with two kids and was then barked at to find a table first - I was sitting at a table across from the counter and heard what had happened and saw her leaving. She saved herself a small fortune, so maybe not a bad thing. There should be someone at the door telling people to find a table before joining the queue, otherwise folk don't know. My mum and I had - 1 x soup, 1 x baked potato with beans, 1 x cake and 1 x pot of tea which cost £23. Absolutely ridiculous and it wasn't great. My elderly mum insisted on paying and I felt embarrassed at the price. They didn't give us cups for tea, just the teapot so I had to try and chase a member of staff for cups. It became a total menagerie with people ordering food then wandering around with their trays trying and failing to find an empty table. They should have a limit on the number of people they allow in when it's busy. They let dogs in, and when we were in there were quite a few there. A kid sat close behind us holding a small dog that barked and barked level with my ear. I'm scared of dogs and just wanted to get out. Totally understand service dogs being allowed in, but not pets. Don't really want to be eating and getting eyeballed from a dog in the queue licking its lips at everything I ate.

Visited today for lunch with grandchildren. Waited in queue for more than 20 mins and then this arrogant woman shouted to the queue get a table before ordering food ! Foreign visitors behind me were shocked . I’m asked how I was to find a table when I had 2 kids . The woman at the till shouted at me that they were busy . I and the people behind me left the food on the counter in disgust . I will not be back !!’

We popped in here for something to eat as we were in the area and on the plus side, its dog friendly. There wasn't much choice apart from breakfast items, toasties are not served until lunch but loads of people asking for them. It's nothing special inside, reminded me of a basic cafeteria but staff were great. It is very bust and can be difficult to get a seat. The food was alright but certainly not worth the price! A 6 piece breakfast, tea, 2 brownies, 2 pepsi and a breakfast roll cost over £30. Certainly not worth that price!

I arrived here after a walk from the guest house and it was cold... I really wanted a cuppa, but decided to have some brunch as well. It reminds me of a badly run cafeteria that needs an upgrade. However, its winning feature was its staff... I managed to get a blood nose ( I had not been feeling well) whilst sitting waiting for my meal. The gentleman serving tables was utterly wonderful... directed me to the bathrooms, held my meal from being delivered and asked if there was anything else he could do. He was very impressive and kind. The meal was unusual and edible, but nothing special.

We were returning home from Ardrishaig following a 4 day tour with Harmony Coach Holidays to a few whisky distilleries in the west of Scotland. Our driver had told us that we would have a limited stopover at Loch Lomond Shores in order to have lunch and stretch our legs. After a quick look around we decided to go to Cafe Zest for something to eat and drink. All we had was sandwiches and coffee they were perfectly acceptable, and served quickly, although we had to wait a few minutes to find a vacant table to sit at. The cafe was very busy while we were there and while there were staff clearing and cleaning tables the management could have done with allocating more staff to the task.

Had a meal here last year which was pretty awful but just put it down to bad experience. Today, we thought we'd try again and opted for the macaroni cheese, thinking it was a safe choice. Well.... We were told we'd have to wait for a fresh batch to be made up as there was only one portion left. Thinking this was preferable to one that had been lying around, we agreed to wait. And wait. And wait. In the meantime, I'd ordered a cappuccino. This was served luke warm and bitter. After trying to make it drinkable by adding sugar, I gave up as it got cold within minutes. Eventually, our macaroni cheeses arrived. Have a look at the photos. Mountains of congealed "cheese" which strangely enough, tasted of nothing, on top of a few pieces of macaroni. We attempted to eat this, but after struggling for 10minutes to get the stringy substance onto our forks and then, realising there's no way we were going to be able to digest such a disgusting concoction, we gave up. We ate some of the dried up chips that looked like they'd been reheated more than a couple of times. If the cafe hadn't been so busy, we'd have asked for something else, but given that the rest of the options looked equally disgusting and that we'd had to wait for so long, we just decided this place is not for us. And for the pleasure of this disgusting "meal", we paid £23.40. Absolute daylight robbery! Please avoid at all costs. This place looks like it's heading for closure.

The price of food here is extortionate. Mac and cheese £8.90 and it’s a tiny dish that’s been sitting under the hot plate all afternoon, not cooked fresh to order! Also £2.40 for a bottle of Irn Bru and wasn’t even offered a glass with ice. Ended up having a chicken, bacon, cheese & bbq panini with chips, struggled to find any chicken in the panini! The panini was brought over to the table once toasted with no chips, I politely asked the server and my god you’d thought I’d just asked her to take a dive in the loch! So rude! She came back with the chips and practically launched them on to the table! Shortly after a coach of tourists had arrived and the que was very long with only 2 people serving on the counter.

Stopped today for lunch after a long drive with 4 family members. We were rudely addressed by staff member No 1 that she was not taking any food orders until she had taken our drink order first. She has to be awarded with worse customer services skills we have ever experienced! Yes we were slow ordering but we were tired and did not need the attitude of someone who clearly is not a people's person, you really should tell your face you are happy ! Few further issues trying to order food which was on display but apparently unavailable . After paying we asked where the hot chocolate we had ordered was, No 2 rude staff member thrusted a receipt in our face to 'prove' we had not paid for it - even though happy head No1 had just barked at us if we wanted marshmallow and cream on it ! Just when we thought we had seen enough misery for 1 day we had the sheer audacity to ask No 3 rude staff member for forks as none were available. To be rudely told she had just put them out - alas the fairies must of removed them ! Eventually forks were given by 'happy head No 3' who looked like she wanted to be anywhere in the world apart except Cafe Zest. The food was fab !!!! 1 member of staff who had lovely red hair put you all to shame , she had the best smile ever! Obviously you will now know it was me that wrote on your specials flyer 'STAFF ARE RUDE' Interestingly we found fantastic tshirts on our way out in the French Comnection section, we suggest they would make fab staff uniforms !!!!! I have to be honest and admit this isn't what we would normally expect from a cafe in Jenners/House of Fraser. The kids had chips which were cold, two of us had the soup which was okay and two had fruit scones which were very crispy on the outside but slightly soggy on the inside. The prices are not cheap, either! One very good point is the view!

Was looking forward to Atlantic cod, chips and peas each at a cost of 2 x £8.95. How disappointing, the chips were below average for a cafe of this type, the peas were hard and almost cold but worst of all, the fish was slightly undercooked and the batter was sticky and undercooked inside, whilst being very crispy and hard on the outside. The batter was far too thick to cook properly and was very greasy. Definitely the worst fish and chips I've had. Buyer beware!

Fish & Chips, fish was raw on the inside had to be returned. Batter on the outside was overdone, and I suspect the fat in the fryer was long overdue a change. Coffee is the weakest I have ever tasted, would be better described as milky dishwater ( and I don't like strong coffee). On previous visit ordered a cheese toastie but it tasted of fish, must have used the toastie machine for a tuna one before mine. Apple pie is bland and tasteless, Gordon Ramsay would have a field day. It's time to admit that you don't know how to run a cafe/restaurant and that you know nothing about quality food. Expensive and not worth it, best thing is the location. Sorry but just have to tell the truth.

I have been to this location quite a few times and I have always found the staff to be very warm, welcoming and helpful. It is not the cheapest but the food to good for the price. The menu is restricted but adequate for lunch. The view is outstanding. It always seems busy so that is a good sign. The cafe is part of Jenner’s and since the change over the clothes department has definitely gone down hill. It’s difficult to understand the direction the new owner is taking. Lomond shores is a destination venue not high street. Hopefully they will get it right as it is such a big stores in a beautiful setting. Maybe they should look at House of Bruar as an example. Have eaten here before and forgot how poor it was. More a canteen than a Cafe. Staff are nice enough but service today was very slow. Coffees, tea and soup put out at till in advance of of people making the order further down the queue no doubt resulting in it getting cold before you get it. In my case I ordered Cod and chips. Chips undercooked and the Cod was more batter than fish. I suspect it was actually Pollock due to taste and texture. Wont eat here again. Popped in here for lunch at the weekend with my mum and grandma, looks fantastic from the outside and from the prices we were expecting good things. Unfortunately we were let down. Two different ladies behind the counter were trying to take our order (I think to speed the queue along but actually this made things slower) whilst a gentleman took the two sandwiches from the plate to heat them up. We got a tea, a soya latte and a cold drink from the fridge which we asked for a glass for and did not get- had to go back up and ask again. The latte was poorly made with burnt milk and came more like a cappuccino with half of the cup consisting of foam rather than milk. Toasties were alright and came with a “salad” which was just some packeted greens and a balsamic dressing over the top. Greens were fresh and tasty but certainly overpriced for what you get. Not an awful visit or service but disappointing given the location, prices and potential. Most likely wouldn’t go back.

Always use this cafe when we are in the area.Very few cafe will have such a view which is always a talking point as we drink our coffee. We have never partaken of the meals here but have had toast which was perfect. It really is the location that gives it an edge.

Had lovely latte and lemon meringue pie whilst sitting looking out directly onto Loch Lomond. Fantastic views.

For such a stunning location, it's a pity this cafe can't offer anything more than standard fast food fare which would impress the visitors it must attract. The baked potato was mushy, the tuna filling sloppy, and the salad garnish less than fresh. All accompanied by a pot of lukewarm tea. I also had to ask the server to wipe the table before they placed my plate on a dirty table. All easy things to get a little better. In its favour I will say service was prompt & reasonably cheery.

Food is fairly good with a reasonable lunchtime snack offering but, it is too expensive for the type of place it is. £15 for 2 small pots of tea + 1 toastie is a bit excessive.

Daughter, grandson (4) and I shopping in Jenners and decided we would have a snack in the instore cafe I had a very tasty Brie tart, daughter had vegetable soup with roll and grandson had a child's lunch bag, small sandwich, yougurt, crisps, juice with crayons and colouring picture 2 coffees cost around £16. Not very big sitting area but beautiful views of the loch.

What a nice cafe at Lomond shores. The food and drinks were very good. Friendly helpful staff and to cap it off stunning views. They also had gluten free range of cakes which was nice to see and by all accounts they tasted great

Wonderful views of Loch Lomond as I enjoy a delightful Scottish breakfast! Great value, delicious cappuccino. I love Scotland!

The flat white was delicious and the Panettone scone was fabulous - crisp, warm and slightly 'citrusy'. And when I went back later for another coffee I was recognised and offered a 'refill' price as I'd already had one! Very good overall.

Being able to look out over the lake and surrounds whilst eating was the highlight of the lunch. The food was quite nice (we had fish and chips and a quiche) for cafe fare, and was a welcome break from shopping and sightseeing. Pri ces were reasonable, and there was always something to see outside.

Accessed from Jenners or from the promenade this restaurant is very busy and is self service. A fair amount of seating and wonderful views of the loch and Ben Lomond. A narrow choice of food however good coffee. Plenty of items to view and to purchase in the surrounding shopping arcade and a cash machine at the end of the building. Quite pricey as you would expect given the location.

When we arrived at Loch Lomond shores we needed a little something so popped in here for a cuppa and a cake. Their strawberry cheesecake was to die for and the tea hit the spot. Looking at the selection though we would have struggled to find anything more substantial if we'd been hungrier. More choice please!

Visit the cafe for a quick lunch whilst visiting Loch Lomond. The selection of sandwiches and savoury hot food was extremely poor , did not look appetising. Although we had panini 's they were rather bland a little expensive and did not leave you feeling it was a good experience. It may be that being a Monday they had not stocked up or l may just have arrived at a bad time. However with such a lovely location the experience of a visit to the lock should be enhanced by good food not a let down as it was today.

Small 'Dry' tuna sandwich with no butter, slither of tuna, oily cucumber,£3.99. Adult fish and chips = small fish bites suitable for a children's portion,£7.95. Asked for cappachino, served weak latte, £2.75. Altogether very poor quality. Most customers are likely tourists passing through therefore no need to look for returning customers! Not a good advert for our tourist trade!

Our walking group arrived at Lomond Shores having made our way up the River Leven walkway. Although there were fifteen of us, we were instantly made welcome and tables rearranged so we could sit as a group. The food was prepared quickly and the service was impeccable. The manager was attentive to a fault. We would thoroughly recommend Zest. It's great to see such a fine eating place in what has become an iconic tourist stop. Would that all Scottish tourist attractions were as good as this!

Sandwiches limited to poor choice especially for kids where basic ham or ham and cheese are off menu. To offer spiced ham and pickle for children is optomistic indeed whilst egg and mayo was extremely bland.Scone choice too limeted was no signing to state variety.

There was a great selection of cooked breakfasts on offer. The coffee was very good, although there did not appear to be a great difference in size between the regular and large measures. Despite being very busy, the queue for self-service moved very quickly. I would certainly return here for breakfast.

We were visiting loch lomond shores and stopped off for a well earned coffee break. The cafe was quite busy as it was a saturday and the weather wasn't great. We managed to find a table suitable for mum who is in a wheelchair. We had a latte, tea and hot chocolate with the works. We all had a cake and yes was a bit expensive but we enjoyed what we had and had a window view of the water.

You can't deny the wonderful views of through the windows but at £4.15 for a small bowl of very average soup, I'm afraid I won't be back.

Utterly disgusting food. The kids meal was shocking. 2 overcooked sausages with 6 chips for £10 served on a side plate. Come on it’s a kids meal not a toddlers snack. Fish was overcooked so we returned. The young staff are lazy and don’t seem interested. Really is this a 5 star?? I don’t think so. It’s more a 3 star. Management should be asking why are the restaurants not busy at this time of year. Yesterday the young staff charged me a service charge for 2 drinks that I went to the bar for myself for!!! It’s absolutely ridiculous!! Come on get your act together….

Literally the worst Starbucks I’ve ever experienced. It’s never open even if it says it is, they always close early, and the staff have serious attitude problems.
