CAFE VAN HAGE in Peterborough

Food was ok, over priced. Waiting 30 minites for egg on toast for 2 people is rediculous! The restaurant was not that busy. I wish I had gone elsewhere to pay less and get served quicker! I will not be coming back!

Sorry, no pictures ,went into the restaurant for a meeting . So just coffees all round . Lovely place ,the cakes looked delicious. A couple next door had afternoon tea, and it looked divine . The shop is all decked out for Christmas .

It's a big garden centre with a nice restaurant. Quite expensive but we'll worth a visit.

I wasn't too impressed with the cafe, but maybe it was just me having an off day. However, the garden centre was amazing. Helpful staff on hand and what a fantastic collection of just about everything you'll ever need for your garden. I was blown away by the number of healthy plants and trees they have on show. We'll done guys.

Food was terrible. I don't know how they can justify £12 for a wrap. You get hardly anything and the wraps are tiny. Completely bland as well. I'd never return. Staff very friendly, atmosphere great, but food was blummin awful.

Such a big improvement from Van Hage. The coffee was always (to me,) disgusting. It's such an improvement and the fresh baked scones are a diabolical temptation which we can not resist. (I'm so weak it makes me ashamed!!!) The lunchtime menu is good with a nice selection to choose from. If you're on a diet don't go! We're on a diet but as I said I am so weak it makes me ashamed .... will go again and again.

Good coffee and an excellent range of cakes at reasonable prices. Setting is light and airy and the service is friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Walked in on Sunday for breakfast, the kitchen wasn’t open, which can happen. I feel that something should be done to compensate instead…

Restaurant looks impressive after the makeover. Like the seating bays near the cake n coffee bar. Menu very ordinary and quite pricey too. Staff very obliging. Nice to have waitress service after ordering at the till

Really like the new refurbishment since it became blue diamond. Very organised and lots to look at. The cafe and restaurant are nice and lovely to sit in with a tree in the middle. So glad they have free from cakes too which was great.

Since the revamp this is a pleasant place to stop off and have afternoon tea. It's within a shopping complex and garden centre. It's unique with a high clear roof and the tables are spaced out so you don't feel crowded

Lovely place.....but at £8 a panini c'mon! Stop off at Aldi across the carpark for your sandwiches if needed!

Slow service, staff need some customer service training, won't hurry back.

Rather a confusing entrance now... it feels like you're following the path to santas grotto! Cafe quite expensive now after the refit.

Now it is rebranded Blue Diamond it ha improved dramatically. Good food and excellent service.

Can see a big difference since taken over by Blue Diamond. Very nicely laid out store with goods at fair prices & friendly staff. Both indoor & outdoor plants are well looked after,presented nicely & realistically priced. Restaurant menu has a sensible variety of nice plated food & cakes at average prices. Look forward to my next visit.

This has changed to a diamond run garden centre. Food was good table service once uve ordered so no cold meals or tea as b4 when you had to queue while your food got cold. Looking forward to a visit once its all complete.

Pleasant surroundings, clean and comfy but... ordering food was a mission! A long que for one till working... the staff needed more training & more staff needed. eventually ordered the meals and waited too long for it to arrive. When it came it was a mixture of over cooked & cold..we won't be going back.

Went for breakfast as a family of 4. We had vouchers which were buy 1 get 1 free. Both the service & the food was very good. I had the vegetarian option which was sooo good. We will definitely eat here again.

Just visited for a late lunch. Was OK but had run out of quite a few things on the menu.

What a let down the breakfast was awful bacon salty sausages were the sawdust variety. At least use decent produce for what you are charging

The food was good but had to wait over 30 minutes after ordering. Its a pity Van Hage have reduced the variety of meals available.

Large garden centre, with gifts and household items too. Large cafe with good range of good coffee and food. Cafe layout is a bit poor, as you 9nly notice half of their food offerings 9nce you have checked out, as they are located away from the counter. Easily accessible, with good parking.

Couldn't find the hot menu option, as it was located at the closed till. Then found somone to order from. After I had to go back to the entrance to pay, and was overcharged. They charged me for 2 hot meals instead of 1. When I received my BBQ pulled pork, it was disgusting! Very sour tasting, had 1 mouthful. Very disappointed

Lacklustre service. Poor choice of meals. One hot meal sold yet another had to be ordered and wait 20 mins Cannot blame quantity of diners. Will not be coming again.

It is too hot inside the shop, most of the staff are very friendly the whole shop are clean n tidu

Bring back the old cafe what a joke

Takes to long to get through till food gets cold

Fabulous garden centre and especially atm their Christmas displays are superb. Best I've seen. Recommend a visit

Cup of coffee and toasted tea cake. Coffee hot. Husbands tea hot. Toasted teacake brought to table by a lovely lady quick service. 3.15 when arrived nearly empty.

Not impressed with the ham and tomato roll I had no butter very dry

The food was warm the black pudding had been under heat lamp so long it had formed a hard chewy crust. The latte was tepid. A lot of the plants outside were desperate for a drink. So all in all a not so good visit.

Even though breakfast time had finished we were able to enjoy choose any 6 or 8 items breakfast and was enjoyable

Coffee nice but very confusing where you have to go as it's right in the corner but there are glass cases with cakes at entrance...but no one serves there...perhaps an information notice would help

Popped in today for a look around the garden centre and fancied a bite to eat. Upon entering usual Covid procedures in place but quickly seated. We were advised before being seated that around a 25-35 minute wait for hot food, not a problem with that as it was fairly busy and limited staff. However, when our toasted sandwiches arrived a huge look of shock spread across our faces. These must have been run over by a steam roller they were so flat! Very, very bland and very dry, no butter had been applied to the bread to give it a tasty crust. Fillings were just 'plonked' in the middle with no thought on presentation whatsoever. The side salad was very nice and also the coleslaw it was just a shame that the 'main event, the toastie' was absolutely awful and the worst we have ever had and also not helped either by paper plates and plastic cutlery. Another comment my partner made was the resteraunt could do with a bit of a spruce up as it was looking a little tired.

Lovely coffee but plants are not cheap

Today the 18th of May, I went with my friend for a breakfast and it was a very bad experience. No customer service, no staff to help each other only one very kind lady was doing all the serving to the tables by herself! They didn't have the option of having bread as they don't have toasters! and you can't edit a breakfast to the options you want! Will not go again until the customer service here gets sorted!

Soty u were a star. Everything else about today's visit was very disappointing but the lovely lady Soty made it all worthwhile. Soty you are a credit to the Company.

Disappointing. Because of covid measures there was no atmosphere. Plastic plates and cutlery. Dried up food and staff that clearly didn't want to be there. Yes tables and chairs got sanitised but armrest were forgotten as if you don't touch them. Breakfast options had clearly been shrivelling up for hours. Coffee got served in a plastic cup. Costa can do better than that. Will not go back again.

It's ok, good choice of food and cakes, could be a but cleaner!

The post Christmas sales are always very good. 70 percent discount on a lot of items. We went there in the afternoon to take tea and a bite to eat but apart from s couple of ham sandwiches there was no savory food. So we had to eat cake though very nice not ideal, saying that you do get 3 cups from a pot. The star attraction for Ch holdren and adults has to be the animal petting area. Do pleased when we popped in to saw the turkey is still greeting visitors.

A great cafe for breakfast, coffee, teas or a snack. Great place to bring the kids at Christmas

Always good quality food and drinks and they do pensioners meal deals too.

MASSIVE queue for breakfast, caused by having one assistant on the hot food counter. Two assistants stood chatting to each other at an empty 'Patisserie and coffee' counter. After queuing over half an hour for breakfast, it was pretty average food.

Wonderful assortment of food and drinks, carvery, salads, jacket potatoes, pizza and more. Generous teapots. Lovely staff who helped with tray carrying, so we helped them by clearing our table. Fresh tasty food cooked on the premises. Large selection of beverages too. All nestled in the excellent centre that is Van Hage. Thank you.

Food is fantastic... would be nice if the waitresses had a smile on their face... the girl on the till didn't have a good night last night I think..

Nice airy space, good value meals and breakfast especially popular, prepare to queue at weekends. Good coffee and cakes too

Very expensive in my opinion but the scones are magnificent!

really good food not too over priced

It's gone up in price and I'm sorry to say the quality has not. Staff serving are unapproachable in fact miserable. I go for b/fast as a treat don't want to be served by someone who doesn't want to do it.

Good selection of cakes and other food

Meals are ok but cappuccino is always cold, don't bother with it anymore. Very slow at checkout because this is where people always get their hot drinks, leaving you waiting in the queue while your food is getting cold. They should always have 2 people on this part 😣

Great garden centre but do feel the Cafe lacks some warmth and character. Bit more like a work canteen. Service and food is fine all the same
