Cafe Roya in Broxtowe

Low quality food, very expensive. £17.50 for what felt like Lidl ready meal warmed up. Not impressed. Service staff were attentive and friendly. The menu sounded good on paper, just the quality and price let it down unfortunately. Wouldn’t recommend.

Eaten here a few times, and had takeaway once. Food is always so tasty and fresh, with lots of different flavours and Persian spices. The food is presented really well too. Even takeaway is packaged and presented really well and tastes amazing. They're all vegetarian dishes (with option to be vegan) but all with the right balance of salt, sweet and umami. Some restaurants treat the vegetarian option as a meat dish and just take away the meat, but not here, you don't feel like anything is missing on the plate and it's full of flavour and you feel satisfyingly full afterwards. The menu changes by season and they have a specials board, so there's always something new to try. The service is always amazing, friendly smiley staff, they always ask about allergies (and can make most dishes vegan, nut free or gluten free), they can explain the dishes well if you ask and you're not waiting ages to order or to pay at the end. The dining area is small, cozy and uniquely Cafe Roya! Previously when I've been, they've had a bottle collection along the wall, this time the table was sort of on a landing upstairs, so the stairs were in the middle of the dining area, without being overly bright and not at all drafty or too warm. This gives the dining experience a special and unique atmosphere, which I really like and I can't wait to go again!

Another fabulous meal at Cafe Roya which never fails. We just caught the Feb menu for a birthday celebration and had a lovely evening. The menu is so creative and the blend of spices and ingredients makes the eating experience amazing. This has to be the best restaurant in Nottingham (and we have eaten in many of them!) Great service, great atmosphere, great evening.

Best restaurant in the Midlands!

The food was brilliant. Everything was vegetable-focused and wholesome but without feeling "health food"-y. It was just genuine, tasty, classy veggie food. Service was very good, the ambience was warm - you could come for a romantic evening or as a family. I would recommend Cafe Roya to anyone - especially as so many vegan and vegetarian restaurants are struggling to stay open now.

3 friends met for lunch and were thoroughly spoiled by both the food and service. Many thanks to all involved.

We absolutely love coming here, the menu is always different and exciting, the ingredients used are second to none and the service is excellent. We regularly come with our son and on both occasions the chef has created something for him either something on the menu or a new creation! I had the most interesting dessert that reminded me of my travels in India, we will be coming back regularly.

The most delicious food, excellent service and a brilliantly varied menu. We went in January and had the veganuary menu. We were both blown away by the flavours. My boyfriend who isn’t veggie was so impressed by it. A lovely atmosphere and decor

This place is wonderful. I go a handful of times a year and have never had a bad meal or any issues with service. Wonderful flavoursome menus that change every month. Fresh food perfect for all and people with dietary requirements.

Cafe Roya is delightful. If you want to go somewhere really special where they genuinely care about food and people then go here. The food is absolutely delicious, the restaurant is intimate, cosy and sweet. They pay so much attention to detail. Very ethical too - you can see from where they source their drinks, ingredients… it’s a real gem. Thank you.

We love this place, you can see a lot of care and attention goes into creating original delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. It used to be pricy, but considering how much the price has gone up to eat a decent meal out it's average cost now. Sometimes you need to be cautious though, the flavours are authentic and may not be to everyone's taste even if you like the sound of the ingredients. I had the Iranian rice last time and there was an entire ?pickled lime in the rice which was incredibly strong and made the entire dish taste like bathroom cleaner (to me anyway) and I felt sick after eating it. However this was one thing I personally didn't like amongst a treasure trove of delights from countless visits and wouldn't let it knock the 5* rating as everything was well cooked it just wasn't to my personal taste. Their tres leches cake is amazing!

We had a lovely dinner to celebrate a belated birthday for my wife. The welcome was warm and the atmosphere convivial for a very pleasant evening. Although we are not strictly vegetarian we had no difficulty in choosing from the simple menu and wine list. The staff were friendly and efficient and contributed to our overall experience. A very impressive establishment and highly recommended.

This was our first visit to Cafe Roya and I can't wait to go again. The food was truly delicious, from the starters, the main courses and desserts not one bit disappointed. The service and atmosphere was perfect too - if you are in Nottingham this is one restaurant experience you shouldn't miss. I am not vegetarian but with food like this I could be converted.

A great meal on Halloween. As always the food was wonderful and the service great. The Rolled Dahl was amazing. This must be the best restaurant in Nottingham!!!

Absolutely amazing, from the hospitality to the food💖💞 We all had the rice and pea dish and it was full of flavour, my man even ate the cabbage 🥬and he told me he would never eat cabbage, or cauliflower for that matter so it must have been good! The desserts were also delicious, I had the banoffee pie 🥧 and he had the apple pie and he never usually has dessert either so now has to do about 50 pushups to work it off which won't be a problem because he's always doing them, he's also getting cabbage for dinner tomorrow now and needn't tell me he doesn't like it 🤣🤣😁😁👍👍

This is my favourite restaurant in Nottingham hands down. Every meal I have had has been an 11/10. You could pick anything off the menu and it will be amazing. They cater well for my Dad when we go, who has coeliac disease, unlike many other places. I love the fact the menu changes every month ... it makes me try and go every month to try the new dishes !

We came here as a group the other evening and it was lovely. The food was great and there were some very interesting and unique dishes on the menu. The service was also good and we loved the atmosphere of the restaurant with all of the quirky decorations!

Fabulous food! Really thoughtful combinations of flavours and textures. Interesting dishes that you might not have encountered before. All vegetarian or vegan, so a great choice for those who don't eat meat or other animal products. We shared a range of dishes, and loved them all. Service was also excellent - the right combination of attentive without pestering you every few minutes. Highly recommended. Book to avoid disappointment.

Four of us visited on a Saturday evening having booked in advance. The food is always wonderful and it was again on this visit. We enjoyed 3 great courses from a range of really creative and beautifully crafted dishes. I had the Cinnamon and New Potato Tacos, followed by Paneer in a Spinach and Fenugreek sauce and a lovely Almond Baklava served with Pistachio kulfi to finish - so good!! The service was again excellent from the really helpful and friendly staff on what was a busy evening in the restaurant. The menu changes each month which helps to keep bringing you back. A great evening!!

Mother’s Day Afternoon tea - savouries very pleasant, sweets far too sweet! But unfortunately not worth £25 with tea/drink extra. Worked out at £2.50 per tiny mouthful of food. Felt like they’d taken advantage of being Mother’s Day to charge extra. Such a shame as have waited ages to go to Cafe Roya.

A good spot for vegetarian cuisine. Attentive staff, a limited but interesting menu. The waitress was lovely. I would have rated this with a 5 but for the slower serving of our main course. The waitress was proactive in offering us delicious olives and nuts whilst we waited. The only thing, not a complaint, was that our main wasn’t served with quinoa as per the menu but nevertheless it was superb We loved the chocolate coconut balls served with our bill. These were outstanding. Overall, excellent food and great service.

We visited on Saturday evening and had a really great meal and experience. The restaurant is warm and inviting which made for a lovely ambience. We enjoyed a range of dishes across Starters, Main and Desserts each of which were beautifully presented. The blend of ingredients created a really flavoursome set of courses which were so good. The service from the Front of House team was friendly and helpful and helped to make a great night for us….we will definitely be back!!

The food here is just fabulous. As a vegetarian of some 40 years this is the best selection I’ve seen. I had the ‘beefy’ wellington which was delicious followed by Christmas bread and butter pudding. Divine. Nice wine at a reasonable price and attentive staff. Deserves its reputation as a top notch place. Highly recommended.

I am not a vegetarian, however I am trying to reduce meat and poultry from my diet. I found this restaurant on the web and even though it is around a 30 minute drive, it was well worth it. The menu is small with a few specials but for me that is a sign of a good restaurant and boy does this place serve up great food. I couldn’t fault anything about the food, staff or interior. It is a long time since I enjoyed a meal out but this places get a 10/10 and I can assure you we will be back and next time it will be with friends Paul & Lisa

Really good food. Friendly, efficient service.

Well crafted healthy and fresh food, but more important for me was the absolutely fantasti service. We arrived for a post work dinner with our colleagues and our toddler, and a dog! They were more accommodating than many places that advertise being child friendly. The high chair was uber cool, toddler food outside the menu was found (carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, with a dip and a dollop of Vanilla ice cream with strawberries), the doggie had a water bowl and all in all, we had a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Thank you Cafe Roya for being lovely!

Del posto mi piace che cambiano sempre i menù, quindi si assaggiano sempre cose nuove. Il personale è gentile e pronto a consigliarti. È un po' caro rispetto ai locali della zona, ma secondo me è giustificato dal tipo di cucina, dagli ingredienti usati e dai limitati posti a sedere. Forse non è un locale per tutti, ma io consiglio di provarlo e decidere se fa al caso vostro!

The food here was absolutely delicious. I had the specials starter and it was the best thing I've tasted outside of a Michelin star restaurant. The food is a little expensive but the taste more than lives up to the price tag. The portion sizes were also generous which is a plus.

Utterly gorgeous food - we went for our 20th wedding anniversary and had a beautiful time (with complementary prosecco when they heard it was anniversary). It was so good we went back, with 3 teens, for my birthday and we all loved it again. Such quality, creativity and sheer cookery magic. Service is fantastic too. Cannot wait to go back!

I was treated to a Christmas meal by my friend and had never visited this restaurant before. The food was truly exquisite and like nothing I’d ever had before (different and special). The service was excellent and the gentleman that served us was concerned we were not warm enough, as we hadn’t removed our coats, and provided a extra heater (very thoughtful). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try something out of the ordinary!

Cafe Roya is my favorite restaurant I've ever been to on this earth! My husband is from Beeston and whenever we are in town visiting family we make it a point to eat at Cafe Roya. The staff is so friendly and the food is absolutely divine. A perfect place for a romantic dinner for a vegan and their vegetarian husband. <3
