Called in on a Saturday for a quick bite before heading on to Gourock. My wife had pie, chips and beans. The pie was very ordinary and the chips had burnt ends. My Sweet Chilli wrap was nothing special - the chicken felt like it was pre-digested and the sweet Chilli sauce insipid.

One of the few cafes I had never tried and wanted a change. Let's start with positives......Sparkling clean and owner was even using flash outside so I can see she takes pride in place. I had coffee....Americano and hot soya milk and toast. Coffee was ok but much better places in town. Toast was basic packet wholemeal and £1.40 a slice and advertised £2.80 for 2! This is ridiculous for basic bread and if priced fairly then may be busier. I appreciate times are hard but this can not be justified

Went in there today, poor service, staff not pleasant, had to ask for menu, then a roll was put on the plate, soup tasteless. I told the manager i had asked for bread (none left was her answer) also no salt & pepper (Needed if to favour soup). Never finished it...ugh She seemed mote interested in sitting chatting to people who were not customers. Sadly the place gone down hill. I used to enjoy going in there. It is tired and not very nice It certainly needs an overhaul starting with managers attitude. Never going back.

Only gave this 4 as we were only in for coffee & cake but our experience was great. Had we had food and it had been good, I have no doubt it would have been 5. It's a large place with a great range of cakes, well displayed and service was quick. Very friendly staff who made the visit so pleasant. Our drinks were excellent as were the cakes (Victoria sponge, mint slice & tart) and prices very reasonable. Full Covid protection was being observed throughout our visit with tables being sanitized before arriving customers were allowed to use them.

Popped in for lunch for a quick bite and couldn’t believe how much soup and sandwich cost. Sandwich was nearly £6 and add on soup for £2. Wasn’t worth that and wished I had went somewhere else. A small bottle of coke was nearly £3. Expensive lunch and the waitress got the order wrong and sent out tomatoes on my daughters order and she is allergic to them so was panicking incase she picked them off and added onions instead but seems she sent out a fresh one so she never really enjoyed. Wouldn’t go back there.

We have walked past this place many times in the past and this was the first time we have ventured in. We really should have kept walking. Two coffees which were over heated and milk burned, a sad scone and a piece of carrot and walnut loaf which they had managed expertly to cut into a wedge effectively half of the size of slice. For over a tenner I felt ripped off and disappointed. I had higher expectations as I have heard good things. Waiting staff were lovely however older woman behind the till was a stranger to a smile and couldn’t raise a response far less friendly conversation. She seemed to be in charge. I would say not her natural vocation in life. Don’t rush here as there are much better in Largs to visit.

Ate hear on a Friday afternoon during a typical Largs/Scottish downpour. Having eaten here in previous years we decided to have a wee snack just after arriving. Two bowls of piping hot soup a carrot and coriander and a more traditional lentil are ham both very good and hit the spot. This followed by two coffees a magnificent strawberry tart and a Viennese whirl all the food very good indeed. But the service was good the surroundings are tired, limp and in desperate need of some TLC. It would not deter us but smartened could be a wee golden nugget.

Some of the fittings are showing signs of wear but the service was good, only one hard working waitress serving the tables though when we were in but we didn't have to wait. When we went in on a Saturday afternoon, this place was busy. And you can understand why. There is a great range of cakes and a good lunchtime menu. The service is spot on with bright, efficient and well organised staff. We had sandwiches which were well filled and came with a decent side salad with a vinaigrette and a handful of crisps. The sandwiches were well filled. The only disappointment was that we ordered the brown wholemeal bread and expected something a bit better than the standard brown bread that was actually served. Better bread would have merited a five star rating. We were too full to try the cakes but they looked good.Prices are reasonable although not bottom end. (Better bread and you would have thought it was very good value, though). Very good for a lunchtime snack or just coffee and cakes.

When the soup came it was cold and served with a slice of bread and one butter pat about the size of an oxo.I asked the waitress if it was yesterdays, as it was stone cold and it was lunchtime she said it was freshly made in the morning and someone had turned the soup kettle off. She took it away to heat it up.I noticed the menus were a little sticky and to be honest the whole place looked tired.I didn't think the choice available of any home made cake was very good either.Considering the prices are not cheap I was not impressed with the whole experience and I think they need to vastly improve.

Yesterday my friend and I who are regular customers, had a terrible experience at cafe renard. When we arrived in afternoon was told by grumpy manager if we wanted tea and cake that's ok as they closing shortly, while walking to seatsWe heard manager tell staff have told them we closing soon, so once seated we waited 10 Minutes and had to ask to be served. Then waitress very unhappy one came with order and not enough milk in jug to go with tea for two so asked for more milk with no pleasant response this was done. There was one waitress , cafe was full with customers, five tables with dirty plates on them not cleared. After our tea And muffins we were told no change in till !!!! Well If cafe full of customers then obviously it has taken money during the day. As local And support this cafe throughout the year it is the prices and good food that draw a me in,But the service is getting more terrible, no atmosphere Anymore, grumpy staff, Long waiting time to be served, espresso is not proper espresso is watered down coffee. If they don't t want to run a business then don't have one, if staff don't like working there then don't, there are some people who would be grateful for a job. Also cafe renard remember locals keep your business surviving during Winter months so start appreciating our custom.

3 of us popped in for lunch on a bitingly cold and windy day. There was a good lunch menu choic. We opted for toasted sandwiches and soup. Service was prompt and pleasant. The food was homemade and very tasty. In particular try the Brie and caramelised onion toastie which is served with home made coleslaw, salad and crisps: a filling and appetising choice. The cafe does lack atmosphere and a few cheery wall pictures would add to the ambience. Also although clean the toilets could do with updating. However the food is certainly recommended and this is a place to which I would return.

I can highly recommend the beef with caramelised onion panini with side salad and crips. We visited on a busy Saturday in March 2015., the staff were working extremely hard as it was so busy.

Two Full Scottish breakfasts were ordered...Square sausage always tastes so good... Amazingly the cooked breakfast was not swimming in grease like other fry ups....Just perfect for a big day ahead. Washed down with tea and toast...just perfect

I visited Cafe Renard for breakfast after dropping kids at school and after doing some shopping in town. As I am on a diet at the moment wondered if I would be able to get something suitable for breakfast but this was no problem. I ordered poached eggs on un-buttered wholemeal toast and a black coffee and was very pleasantly surprised. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the coffee is pretty amazing .I would thoroughly recommend this wee place to anyone !

We had 2 lentil soups to start with, it was okay but a bit too thick. We had macaroni cheese with garlic bread and lasagne also with garlic bread. We were very disappointed with both mains especially with the macaroni cheese which was quite tasteless and bland and was served with no salad. The cost with two teas was just short of £27.00 which we thought was a bit expensive for what we got. This café does not serve French fries. Please also note this café failed to pass the last (February 2014) Government's food standard agency's food safety and hygiene inspection, more info can be found on the Government foods standards agency website. At the time of our visit we found the café to be very clean.

A nice cosy, welcoming coffee shop, which was full of locals, and I could see why - lovely friendly service, and great coffee and yummy danishes - a nice retreat on a cold day!

My friend and I live locally but decided one Sunday to go in for a coffee and a scone - the scones and cakes always look so tempting. We were not disappointed - the scone was freshly baked and tasted delicious with butter and jam. The coffee was the best I've tasted for some time. Service was quite slow but fortunately we were not in too big a hurry. The food served to other customers looked lovely so we will definitely visit again.

Wonderful experience! Efficient, friendly staff. Enjoyed a relaxing cappuccino, and a delicious empire biscuit. The restaurant/café is small but very comfortable, safe and clean. Looking forward to going back for a meal.

A lovely Farm shop, selling lots of little gifts along with the yummiest of food. Their Beef and Venison Pies are scrumptious, as was the Macaroni Cheese pie. There is also a Restaurant/Tea Room, serving delicious local food and all so farm fresh. For children, there is a play area and a some cute farm animals to keep them entertained. A must visit if you are in the area

We have visited this cafe a few times recently as its quite good. The food is reasonably priced and worth the money. They stop selling hot food about 3.30, so you do need to get there quite early as it's quite popular. They have recently changed the name of the cafe to - cafe at the park and we don't particularly like it but other than that it's good.

Don't listen to your requirements and don't know what 'space for milk' means. Sigh
