I'd been to 2 events catered by cafe recharge and the food had been lovely, so I finally visited the cafe today. Had a fantastic Brie and Fig toasties that was lovely. Great food, great surroundings, great team and such great environmental and social credentials. Highly recommend

This Cafe pretty much saved my life! Recently made homeless through no fault of my own and unfortunately I work so couldn’t get assistance. I walked in here after phoning. I was greated like any else would have been with a smile a coffee and some toast! I explained my circumstances to which a staff member helped me get a shower thanks to her husband Scott! I got towels from Amanda and off I went. I came back for another coffee and to charge my phone. I’m in accommodation now and I will lie coming back to return the favour

What can I say! This surplus food cafe is brilliant! Delicious food and brilliant service.. honestly, the best cafe in Galashiels..the 2 founders have proper banter, really lovely coffee and brilliant counter service..they remember my order & love the M&S bakery surplus.. they are fantastic .. thank you.

Cafe Recharge is the best family friendly restaurant I have ever been too. I was there recently with my grand children . The food is not only delicious but it is made from food that is still in date but would have gone into landfill. The restaurant is roomy and well set out with a balcony looking over the river and a play area. The atmosphere is so relaxed and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and make everyone feel at ease. A real asset to Gala.

Love Café Recharge! Not only are they doing important work by combating food waste, they're a wonderful support to our local community with their "pay what you can afford" system. The coffee and food is always delicious and staff are lovely!

Very little vegan options ever. Bread with hummus if you're lucky usually. Food is good when I do have the chance to eat here but nothing special. Great idea, not as well executed as I would have liked.

Just popped by as someone was STARVING MUM! Had an amazing portion of quiche, new potatoes, salad and coleslaw with hot chocolate with the works, a latte and lemon muffin. Both of us were full. Staff here are lovely and there is never a long wait for food

Fabiano the owner is Italian and he has brough his Italian Magic to the Coffee - Outstanding and Pasta Dishes. Baking is also on site fresh and great.

I go to Recharge most weeks because the service is SO friendly, the menu tempting (amazing when you realise it's a potluck process depending on donations) and it's brilliant to support the team bringing accessibility and dignity to everyone in Gala (and beyond). You can also raid the cupboards and fridges (for donations) so I usually leave with fresh flowers, rolls or buns and a few veg. There's LOADS of cafes in Gala - we're really spoilt for choice - but this is my top pick.

I have been here twice now and have fallen in love with the place. Amazing service, amazing food, amazing atmosphere. I think its a brilliant thing you guys do and recommend everyone should come. They don't make you feel embarrassed about having to use their services. Keep up the good work.

This café is a great place to go, whether for coffee and cake or lunch. Superb food in a friendly atmosphere. Pay what you can so nobody goes hungry. Also help stop good food going to landfill.
