Cafe Portugal in Lambeth

We enjoyed an early lunch at a shady pavement table at this small cafe in Little Portugal. Service was prompt and very friendly. The menu seemed comprehensive and authentic, so we chose espada - a Medeiran specialty of black scabbard fish with banana and maize. It was delicious and very good value. Nice choice of beers too. Recommended!

This place is the definition of a comedy restaurant. There are not enough menus, the staff ignore you, and only bring half your order. The 'complimentary' olives and cheese are charged for, even though you don't ask for them. I thought these scams had stopped in London in the 1990s.....I mentioned these to the owner, and he didn't care at all. One assumes it is a regular scam, that he authorises. The food was average to say the least. When the 'boiled' potatoes arrived, 10mins after I asked where they are, they were clearly tinned and microwaved....I have travelled and eaten all over the World and this was my worst experience out of over 90 restaurants, in 8 different Countries. This place preys on tourists, so please read this review, and hopefully they will realise scamming tourists is not a good buisness plan.

Great little Portuguese restaurant, if you’re not sure, they do English dishes as well, we had T bone steak and fries just £18 each, great for London , parking right outside, although we were staying at holiday inn express a few doors away. Nice smallish family restaurant, safe area, would definitely visit again if ever in that area.

I asked for a menu deal. It is advertised at the door with a fixed price of 12,5 pounds. Scam! Fake!

They fail to take your Groupon booking, or they book you in when they are actually closed (like recent Easter Bank holiday Monday). Then they tell Groupon you already redeemed it - even though they were closed! Groupon believe them rather than you - you lose your money. Scammers. Pity because their food when they were based down Vauxhall was amazingly good. But fraud always leaves a bad taste.

DO NOT BOOK A GROUPON DEAL at the Portugal Restaruant, They are accepting booking when they are closed and then redeem your vouchers as though you attended. Be Warned they are scamming people on Groupon UK

The food was excellent and plentiful. I had a very tasty seabass with a lot of vegetables, my husband chose the steak and apparently it was excellent, just cooked to his taste. I had a chocolate mousse which was really good and my husband had a Creme caramel this was also nice.

. . . lamb cutlets I have ever had in all 79 years, simply superb and reasonably priced, served by very friendly staff and chef. Have already booked a return.

This restaurant has moved to Blackfriars Road. I have been to the restaurant a couple of times during the day for breakfasts and lunch, and I have been here a few times in the evenings for dinner. The restaurant is very clean and tidy, nicely set out, friendly staff, good food and very good prices. I have brought friends here, as well as family on a visit from Australia, we were all very happy with our visit here, especially the complimentary Pastel de natas

Meeting up with twin brother and girlfriend for Sunday lunch. Had a taste for dim sum up China Town, but it was a miserable and dreek day down South Lambeth Road. So used our noddles and went round the corner to our favourite Portuguese restaurant in ‘Little Portugal’ instead. This restaurant NEVER disappoints and today’s lunch was no exception. There’s a large selection of fish dishes on the menu, plus my must-have of lamb cutlets. Bro decided to go for the sharing grilled fish for two dish: do NOT have a starter if you opt for this!!! Sea bass, salmon, tuna, prawns, squid, sardines: yum! yum! yum! Oh, and you get veg to go with it. And don’ forget to leave room for a custard tart....or two....Ratings 4 all round.

Have been going to this place for more than 10 years now and absolutely LOVE it. Fresh ingredients, simple cooking, delicious food. Skewers, sea food, beef. Recommended. Highly.

Dreadful service, as waiter got the order wrong twice! very poor quality food the tuna pasta was so tasteless that we just left it! I guess we do not go back!

Love eating here, the food is well priced (you're in the middle of london) and excellently cooked. Olives and Bread as you sit down, great house red (had a lot of that), and super service. Have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointing. The Chicken and Chirizo skewer is a particularly fine meal. AND the best Portuguese tarts in London.

My husband and l dined here courtesy of Groupon. Two courses with a drink, we had house red and a G&T.; Warm rolls with butter and olives for the table, Garlic prawns and calamari delicious, very generous portions. I had seabass with prawns, new potatoes and small prawns with broccoli and carrots, very nice but there were bones in the fish! Caramel tart and cheese cake to finish a very hearty meal. Waiter was super friendly and helpful, quick delivery of all courses. Restaurant nothing special but food certainly made up for it. Short walk from Vauxhall station, would recommend.

Visited here by chance while in London for a concert. The menu is pretty diverse and offers pizza and pasta as well as traditional Portuguese food. We had the Francesinha which was very nice and was served with a mountain of fries. Nice that they...

Ordered online via UBER Eats. They delivered the wrong order then told me they would correct the order and send again. Waited a half hour, that told me it was on its way. Waited another half hour they then pretended they couldn't hear me on the phone. Not been to the restaurant, obviously not going to go but have never been spoken to like that. If telephone service is this bad I can't see table service being much better...Never felt the need to write a bad review before. Shame.

we first went using a Wowcher and did not expect it to be that much. but the food is amazing, and service was fast, it is always full each time we go and we have been a good 6-7 times in the last 3 months. love it great menu and wine selection. going to the loo is a bit off going down stairs and past the kitchen but its clean and not an issue. good value and large amounts - go visit.

We visited this restaurant with a deal which made it good value.The portions were big and the staff were great, very friendly and patient. The food was nice but nothing special. The restaurant itself has a lot of football memorabilia and the football was on in the background.

Always difficult to find good food when on my own on business. Portugal was great. Food is relatively straightforward. Grilled sea bass was excellent and was just what I wanted. Prices are good for this area.

Have eaten here twice on Groupon voucher. Really tasty quality meals, well presented and good helpful staff. Flaming chorizo and hanging kebab very spectacular. I don't know how they can do it at the voucher price.

Came here with my partner after work and the food was completely amazing! We had calamari and bravas to start and ribs and tuna for the main. The food was full of flavor and nicely presented. Authentic Portuguese cuisine in a rustic and cozy setting. Our server Jenny was very kind and attentive and even went to grab the bottle of wine we were having to show us so we can purchase it. Like many others I visited using a Groupon voucher. My family and I were pleasantly surprised at the portions, being aware this was a very condensed version of the a la carte menu (they had a special groupon menu). The food was tasty with high quality meat and our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is quite cramped though, it felt like they'd crammed too much seating in for a less than comfortable dining experience. Additionally, it was really hot when we visited and there was no A/C or ventilation, which wasn't ideal. The food definitely made up for the cramped surroundings though.

I got a Groupon voucher and visited the restaurant last week with my family. The food was absolutely delicious. They gave us bread, olives and fish pate. For starters, we had Clams, Lapas, Chili Prawns and Spanish Tortilla - amazing. For mains we had tuna steak, sea bass with prawn stuffing, and chicken with mushrooms. Tbh, I thought the waiters' communication skills were a bit off..but I assumed it was because of the language barrier. Other than that, our waiter was very nice and patient. I just had a look at the 1 and 2 star reviews here, and I can say our experience had nothing to do with what was described in these reviews. Some people said they were given a different menu from the one that's on Groupon. Well, maybe they have already fixed this issue, but right now on Groupon there are only a few options, while we were offered the full menu that is on their website. Some people also said their food was bad, smelled bad, had small portions etc. Ours was amazing, the portions were very big, even my dad (a very big man...) could not finish his meal. There is another review that complained about not being able to order a bottle of wine as part of the groupon deal. Well.... if you clearly read your voucher, it says it includes a glass of wine. And this is obviously house wine. Staff explained this to you several times, and you just keep insisting? How rude is this? You are getting such a big discount on your food, and you are still so greedy to keep insisting for something that you have not paid for. If I were the owner of this restaurant, I wouldn't want to have such customers. If my customers want to be treated well and with respect, they have to respect my business as well.

My mussels starter was plump and tasty. My wife enjoyed her piri peri prawns.My main was bacealau home style which was a wonderful piece of cod with just a hint of that unique salty flavour. It came with crisp potatoes In the round.My wife's main was a whole sea bass on the bone with a plethora of vegetables. We did well to do it justice.Service was just ok due to a busy evening and just two waiting staff. Most enjoyable nevertheless.

I was staying at the Holiday Inn just down the road and needed to have some dinner, so as I was just back from a trip to Lisbon it seemed daft not to drop in. Very welcoming atmosphere and very busy with the locals.Menu was varied with meat, fish and pasta dishes. Lovely bread and tasty olives served as a starter.Had a tasty pasta, onions & bacon dish washed down with a small Sagres beer.Great value and great service.Recommended!

Having bought a Groupon voucher with anounced discounts on menu prices, I simply was not expecting the ala carte menu to be different from the groupon discount dishes. The dishes are served as low cost and not at a discounted rate. SHAME ON YOU!The clams that I order as a starter were completly tasteless.The mains were very tasty and fresh but very small quantaties and different quality. The waiter gave us quite a good service.

I chanced across the restaurant and was impressed by the atmosphere and menu. I decided on the spur of the moment to eat.I had bread and olives to begin. Really tasty, fresh bread and the olives were spot on.I had half a grilled chicken with home made chips and salad for main course. The chicken had lovely charred skin but was moist and soft. The chips weren't greasy at all, they were crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The salad was a good size and really fresh.The only slight disappointment was dessert. I had an ice cream (not one of the home made desserts - one they order in). The ice cream was so frozen that it looked like a hockey puck - not pleasant. I wish I had selected a home made dessert.A good dining experience and I would return.

We arrived for an early evening dinner and there were a number of Portuguese locals eating and drinking outside - always a good sign. The place filled up as we were there. Basic tables, but clean and tidy. The service was okay but nothing to shout about. However the prices were reasonable and the portions pretty big. The calamari / mackerel starters were good and the Tuna / Chicken mains solid. My monk fish and prawns skewer was very dry, but some olive oil solved that. We had olives and bread on the table - very good quality but we weren't told we would be paying for them. Overall atmosphere was good.

easy to find and surrounded by Portuguese shops...this is little Portugal, a place to enjoy in London if you enjoyed the real thing in Portugal. Cafe Portugal is located on Lambeth Road and from our hotel in Pimlico, it was a nice walk over the river. We were welcomed by the owner who wanted us to enjoy Portugal again. How lovely. We started with a typical vegetable soup, just like they make it back in Portugal. Then we had spicy prawns, grilled Sardines and grilled seabream. We went next door to enjoy coffee and pasteis de nata!!! We had just came back from Lisbon and wanted to stay a little longer in Portugal, so London's Little Portugal was just lovely. Will go back there again whenever we are in London.

Decided to go here after walking past it numerous times and seeing it gets quite busy which is a good sign. We arrived around 7.30 which at that time it was relatively quiet. By the time we left at 9 it was very busy.I've not got much to compare against in terms of Portuguese food but we both opted for fish which came with vegetables and it was cooked really well.I'm not a big fan of Portuguese wine (from a previous visit to Portugal) but the bottle we ordered was actually very good and reasonably priced.The fish mains were around £15 each and they were quite large portions. Bottle of wine £17.50Overall, good atmosphere, good food. Would visit again. Theres a lot of Portuguese people which is clearly a good sign in a Portuguese restaurant

We had a 2 course dinner for 4 Groupon voucher.We were given a choice of table & a fairly extensive menu. Bread & Olives appeared straight away & we were offered a choice of drinks included in our voucher. We all chose red wine so he just brought us a bottle. For a house wine it was lovely. My main of Madeira skewers was a bit red for me so I asked for it to be a bit more well done, for my trouble they bought us another bottle of red on the house! A very unexpected & lovely gesture. The food was lovely & the service charming. We had deserts & more drinks which we paid extra for but even these were very well priced.All in all a lovely evening in a charming restaurant with impeccable service!

Sizeable portions for starters.Ribs & fish skewer for main, with Portuguese beer to wash it all down.Portions are more than enough and accompanied with crispy chips and veg. for the ribs, and boiled potatoes & broccoli for the fish. Thursday lunch time was not very busy, but speaking to some regulars, next table, weekends and evenings you need a reservation. Went with groupon voucher for two GBP19. Prices on menu seemed very reasonable. Meet the chef, pleasant portuguese man. Will go back to try Portuguese delicacies recommended by the regulars.

I took my family for a double birthday celebration. Half of us (who do not speak Portuguese) arrived first. We wanted to order a bottle of wine - clearly not part of the Groupon deal we had purchased. We were first of all told we couldn't order it because it wasn't part of the deal. Then we pressed to be able to order a bottle. The condescending, rude excuse for a waiter explained four times that it was to be paid for separately and did we understand this. This isn't rocket science, and any pleb would. We did not for a second think it would be. We simply wanted a bottle of wine. The rest of our party arrived - who do speak Portuguese. For the rest of the night the waiting staff ignored the non-Portuguese speaking part of the table. Did not offer us any further drinks and made no attempt to engage with us or find out if there was anything we needed, if we were ok.I have dined at many restaurants around the world, and used Groupon a couple times for what seem like decent deals. I am under no allusion that the food is not going to be their top produce reserved for customers who pay top price. However, this does not excuse the poor quality, fare that was served. Chewy meat, salad that was sub-standard.We were left very disappointed. I am married into a Portuguese family and I love the food, the culture and the people. There are many great Portuguese Restaurants and Cafe's in the Stockwell/Vauxhall area. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM.I had heard good things about this place, its a shame our experience was not as good as others have had.

Bought the Groupon offer for 4 ppl £35, 2courses and a glass a wine, too good to be true!.On arrival the Restaurant felt like a Breakfast Cafe a bit old dated but the smell of food was a thumbs up!.We were given the Menus, to our surprise nothing to do with the ones on offer on the groupon page. They do have different cheap version for Grupon customers. On the Grupon website there is a link to the full Menu of the Restaurant but 75% of that is no included in the offer at the Restaurant.Service was also poor, a table of paying customers ( I am also a paying customer remember but treated different there) arrived 15 minutes after we ordered but there food was served first.Food was OK nothing great but fresh a tasteful.We won't be back for sure, a pity they can not understand that Grupon vouchers works for people to meet places and come back,even to recommend friends and families.We felt deceived!

Went on a Groupon deal and this made it excellent value.House wine was very nice, which is more than can always be said for restaurants. I would happily pay for a glass of their house white.Four different soup choices for starter and around half-a-dozen different meat options. Also other vegetarian options on starter , such as Spanish omelette.Food was plentiful, obviously home and fresh cooked. Peri-peri chicken main was great for main. Hand cut chips and nice salad. Chicken was nicely cooked and was plentiful.Service worth a special mention - waiter was really good.This is almost a cafe-come-restaurant. Definitely more restaurant in the side we were led through to, so it felt more formal than a cafe, but without the formality of a full-on restaurant. Loved it. Would definitely return for quick and friendly service, with good home cooked tasting food.

I ADORE this restaurant, their fresh and delicious food, atmosphere and outstanding service!! Every meal is unique and SUPERlisious, I've tried several main courses and starters and all were amazing and very fresh! I also love their potato, it's hand cut fresh potato, tastes fantastic, like mum makes ❤❤Staff is very welcoming and caring, my huge respect to them for creating "like at home" atmosphere! I'm sure everyone who was there once will come again and again trying new meals and enjoying really warm, safe, friendly and relaxing atmosphere

We went to this restaurant twice on Groupons and were very pleased with the food. Excellent portions and pretty good cooking. Not sure we'd pay the full price for the main courses but you get a good choice and good portions. Drinks are very reasonable

I took my girlfriend down to this place for a Valentines dinner and the food was well cooked, tasty and the portions were generous. I did a Groupon and with drinks and desert added the bill still came to less than £30 for the two of us. The only slight let down was the desert. We chose the Valentines day desert, which was a chocolate and cream mouse that was edible. All in all a very pleasant experience with attentive and polite service.

My friend and I on our first night in London we reserved a table in this restaurant through Groupon. We first arrived with a good impression, looked v cosy and we almost order straight away. there were just other 3 tables occupied. Then the anger started as the food was not arriving and the waitresses were not even looking at us or informing us about some kinda of delays. After 70 mins arrived our appetizer and in the meantime other guests came and they received man courses even before our first small dish. After finishing the appetizer we had to wait ages again to get the main course. The food was tasty but as soon they talked to us we asked for the bill straight away cause we spent more than 2 hours in that restaurant... waiting, hungry and angry! and it wasn´ t even busy, it was a wednesday night tho. Service should be definitely improved!

You can usually tell if a restaurant is going to be good if locals from a particular country eat there, and that's a good measure for Cafe Portugal. It's run by Portuguese providing authentic Portuguese food and service. Very friendly and helpful with a really good menu and reasonable prices and the food was very good to. Well worth finding and giving a try.

this is one of my favourite restaurants because how they presented the food and how it tasted me and my husband had our anniversary and they decorated or table as a surprise the people were very nice they gave us everything the also gave us a discount so we will be going there again definitelyif you liked this review please can you reply BLUE M

Called in mid week at about 9pm, premises were not too busy so was seated and served quickly. Chose the half chicken with piri piri, which is served with salad and fries. The portion was really big and only £8. I would happily visit again if in the area.

We ordered the black scabbard and Barbeque chicken. The only good thing about the chicken was the sauce. The black scabbard was supposedly a fillet of swordfish. However having tasted it I have to say it is definitely not swordfish. It's probably something cheap like cod. It had no taste and a terrible smell. I tried to eat it but found it made be very nauseous. We waited for the waiter to come and take our plates so I could ask for water to help with the nausea but he did not bother to return. He either stood a around doing nothing or served the other 2 couples in the restaurant. We waited for almost 30 minutes to no avail. In the end as we had a Groupon voucher we left and none of the waiters even acknowledged us as we left. We will never return and I definitely do not recommend this restaurant if this is the kind of food and service they provide to Groupon customers.

Highly recommended. Myself and my girlfriend purchased a groupon voucher for 2 courses each and 2 generous sized glasses of wine for under £20 (in London!). Olives and bread complementary as an appetizer. Starters were good, I had calamari, my girlfriend had Spanish tortilla (a slight criticism was that this was a bit bland but this is being somewhat harsh). We both went for fish skewers as mains and these were truly outstanding, large chunks of salmon and white fish as well as king prawns. Very generous serving. The waiter was very accommodating and friendly. Atmosphere also great, lots of diners. Unfortunately no room for desert though these also looked very appetizing. A definite 5 star experience. Worth travelling across London for!

I have visited this restaurant regularly over the last 15 years - and have found the service great Went for a quick lunch at the weekend with my family and had an unpleasant experience. The waiter was rude and unfriendly - told us that the food we wanted - listed on a black board, was take away only !! - didn't seem to want us there We left and went to another restaurant down the road

Went to this restaurant with an English friend, as I'm Brazilian, with a Portuguese background, I said to my friend that she was going to taste an authentic Portuguese food. I had checked this place online and the reviews were good, I even found a voucher on Living Social, so I thought, let's have a go. When we arrived and I handed the voucher to the owner he gave a look to his waiter, who took us to a table and gave us a menu without much information, I then asked him to explain to us the meals on the menu, which he half did without much patience. Long story short, they served us a completely different food from other costumers there, the food was inedible! I then looked around me and saw that few other people that had better looking food also were leaving food on the plate.I felt very bad for my friend, and asked her to forget this experience, as that isn't really Portuguese food.I then had a word with the waiter, very politely said that if they were willing to sell vouchers, to advertise their business, they should honor it and treat us the same way as any other client, the waiter literally ignored me and pointed us to the door... I can not highlight how terrible it was! MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE IN LONDON

We came here for dinner with a Groupon deal and absolutely loved the food! The restaurant is quite simple but the food is amazing! The starters; garlic prawns and calamari were cooked to perfection and a generous portion. The mains; fish skewers and beef steak skewers were also delicious. The fish was light and flavoursome and served with potatoes and veg. The steak was tender and cooked in a garlic oil and served with home made chips. The local red wine was full bodied and worked perfectly with the food. My partner squeezed in a home made custard tart which was sweet and very tasty. Service was efficient and friendly. We will definitely return!

This was our 2nd visit tonight. The food is delicious and portions are good. Service is excellent. We will definitely return. It offers good value for money with a voucher.

for £19, we had a 2-course meal with each a glass of wine for 2. So, we had a spanish tortilla & garlic prawns to start, each. The tortilla was not as thick as a Spanish one, but did have some potatoes within, and onion which isn't normally in a Spanish tortilla. The garlic prawns were delicious, in a garlic butter sauce. Then, we had the beef skewer and fish skewer each for mains. The fish skewer included a mix of prawns, salmon and a white fish, with a few pieces of red pepper; it was accompanied with a lemon wedge, 3 boiled potatoes, some boiled brocolli and carrots too. It was OK & fish not over cooked. The beef skewer came with chips and a mixed salad with olive oil & vinegar for dressing. The beef pieces were not fatty but was well done, so was a bit more cooked to be tender. Portuguese house red wine was good, and free olives and garlic bread were included. We were pleased with the service which was attentive, even if English was not too good. It was definitely good value, and we left a £5 tip. We were happy with the food.

I took a friend to this lovely restaurant yesterday evening. The service was good. The food was really great. I had the mixed fish skewer for the main and garlic prawns as a starter. Free garlic bread and olives were provided as our nibbles whilst we waited for our starter. This was a reat value Groupon deal. I will definitely revisit, pay full price and recommend to friends and family.

This was value for money, not fancy but friendly, bags of character and more than enough wholesome grub to fill you up!The Spanish Tortilla turned out to be a huge potato and onion omelette, which should have served as a meal by itself, the calamari were a tad tough but still tasty.However the Madeira Skewers were lovely chunks of beef, cooked superbly.The Black Scabbard (swordfish) and banana was not unpleasant, just a strange mix.The best however, was the house-wine, both red and rose were really good and at only £3.50 a glass, marvellous value.Enjoyable and cheap.

This is not fancy, but a simple and honest restaurant serving traditional Portuguese cuisine. The dining room is reasonably large but a little on the cramped side, comfortable and well-lit (a good ambience, though not particularly intimate or romantic) and was quite busy on this Monday evening, with two friendly middle-aged waiters who worked the room efficiently between themselves. The house wine was a reasonable Portuguese drop, and all wines were available by the glass. A generous plate of complimentary home-made bread and olives began our meal, followed by a nice starter of garlic prawns. All mains appeared to come with home made chips and salad - our grilled chicken and pork steaks with fried egg were both good. And all was very good value. I would certainly come here again!

I went to this restaurant because I was passing this place many times and read good reviews and must say I'm bit disappointed. Waiter was very polite but his English was poor and food was just ok. Well my starter (mussels) was really nice and tasty but main course (monkfish) was completely blend. Reviewers said that food is like in Portugal but unfortunately it is not. I scored 3 but they deserve 3,5.

Within walking distance of Vauxhall, this Portuguese cafe / restaurant is worth a visit. Although restaurant is rather simply furnished, tables are covered with white starched linen. Food is continental, freshly prepared and service is very good. Our set meal was from a very limited menu. I opted for mixed fish skewers (main course) not realising that prawns and shell fish would be counted as fish in Portuguese cuisine. So beware if you have shell fish allergy.

Very nice food and super friendly staff!!! I cant wait to return there.We have been with the Groupon voucher, which included a started and a main course. However they didn't charge anything extra for the nice olives as delicious garlic bread!!! One of the best portuguese restaurants in London.

The small area of South Lambeth Rd is known as 'Little Portugal' with the locals and this authentic restaurant is a gem in the middle of it. Close your eyes on a sunny London afternoon and you are taken right back to a balmy holiday in Portugal. The food and wine doesn't disappoint and it's good value for money. House red wine went down a treat and fantastic price. Service was brilliant from the hardworking friendly waiterI loved the garlic prawns and the beef skewers (which was served with a salad and real chips), freshly cooked and quite delicious. Only two outside tables so if you want to sit outside I would recommend late afternoon / early evening. They seem to be open all day.

I went with my 3 children and we had a lovely time. The wine is nice and very reasonably priced and the Madeira skewers are such good steak. I would have liked a salad or vegetable starter but we had a Groupon voucher so had a very good set menu which did not include this. The desserts are great,, nice choc mousse and pudim very eggy and caramelly. The waitress was so good humored and obliging and she brought extra olives and garlic bread and all for free. Thanks for a good evening! ps we were in the restaurant side which is not a cafe!

I liked this restaurant. Good price and delicious food. Try the madeira's skewers. A lot of meat with crunch fries. Great. Recommended.

Food tasted really nice. Disappointed that starters had no salad or anything but Sausage and calamari really good. Again with mains no rice and only basic salad with kebab. Fish kebab and meat really good quality. Nice potatoes and veg. Really happy with visit and given free drinks at the end. As stated food really nice but can add extra touches. Staff really nice and will return to try their usual menu ( not Groupon). Good sign was that restaurant was full.

Had complimentary olives and garlic bread while looking at the menu. Was given choice of white or red wine which came as part of the deal.Had the Calamari while husband had the chorizo starter, both of which would have looked better with a salad garnish. Husband selected the steak kebab which came with chips and I had the seafood skewer consisting of prawns, salmon and cod which was served with boiled potatoes , carrots and broccoli. Steak was delicious but we ordered a tomato salad as well. Recommend booking on a Friday as all the tables were taken.Paid extra for ice cream, coffee and Metaxa brandy.

Wörth visiting this place, the food is great, the atmosphere really homely and friendly and the service is great. Would definitely recommend it, love their seafood

Absolutely fantastic find. The food was amazing, fresh, simple, wonderful flavours. Large portion sizes. Managed to cater for gluten free. Brilliant value.

CP is really small and not very 'classy' from the outside, but it is a very good authentic Portuguese restaurant full of local Portuguese. The service was very friendly and food is all super fresh. Fish choices are great sardines with lemon simple an depict ad the fish kebab is popular. Wine choices fine- not expensive, but the house wine-red- is perfect away

The Cafe is more that just a Cafe, its decore is I guess a bit classical, it have a good selection of food of the region, and is worth visiting if in the area.Service from that staff was good I enjoyed my food and they have a nice selection of Port too.

Eat here every so often when in London on business. Tonight's tender steak cooked rare as asked, served with generous chips and salad. Will continue to visit.

My family highly recommended it so I went with them to give it a try. We had to wait for more than an hour after ordering and the fish was burnt and dry (possibly they forgot about it and tried to reheat). After an hour and a half we couldn't be bother to wait for the meat, as it had not arrived yet. The service was not very good as well.

Found the cafe Portugal through trip advisor when staying at the holiday inn next door .This does not look much from the outside but the food is fantastic and service is very good . We had the mixed fish skewer and the maderian steak skewer this comes with veg ,chips salad etc . Well what can I say the flavours were to die for and meat just melted in the mouth , this was defiantly one of my best meals . The only things was that the chips were little cool but I did not have lot of room left after the great fish and even greater steak .The price was really good as well as bread and olives 2 meals , 2 coffees and a bottle of wine cam to 50.00 If you are in the area it is well worth a visit
