Cafe Ocean in Great Yarmouth

Monday Evening around 6pm Advertised as open lights were on but when we went in we were told that they were open to hotel guests only 😞

Lovely place and lovely food - nice staff too! I can see why they have such good reviews! Keep up the good work folks!!

My husband is a regular for week day lunch and has told me constantly how good it is. So he took me today. I was impressed with the decor, the cleanliness and the cuisine. An excellent meal and would definitely return with my friends.

Well what can I say this place is amazing, food amazing staff amazing has to be one of our favourite places to go

I don't normally write negative reviews but unfortunately, on this occasion I have to. I will start by saying the place is decorated beautifully from the inside out and this review is only a reflection of the restaurant. Me and my partner booked to come here on a whim as we wanted to try it, the menu itself sound lovely, lots of choices to choose from, we both decided to order from the grill part of the menu, me ordering the lamb chops, and my partner ordering the Steak Diane. I must admit when my partner was served his steak Diane for the £28 we were going to pay I was shocked at the lack of fillet steak, I think he had 4 small pieces of fillet which made us disappointed, regardless he began to eat and nearly choked on the onion ring skin that was left on the onion, he had to pull it out, when the waiter came to ask if we were enjoying our food my partner did actually explain this and only a 'oh' was returned before the walked away. My lamb was cooked beautifully but it did lack any flavour unfortunately and the bone marrow gravy that accompanied the dish did taste like a normal gravy. Regardless, we paid in full and didn't push for anything as like I said we don't enjoy leaving negative comments, for the first time we just didn't tip. This was just our experience of the restaurant.

Tried to get in for dinner but fully booked to their credit so popped in for breakfast instead the next day. So glad we did, absolutely delicious. Menu great, lots of choice and you could tell it was going to be good.. we were not disappointed. Yummy eggs and quality bread, granola and fruit salad to die for. All very reasonably priced. Would 100% recommend and we will most certainly return for a dinner and stay as the hotel looked fabulous. Thanks guys!

Perfecto! A lunch menu with lighter bites would have been appreciated as the mains are HUGE! We were defeated after bread and olives and then the chicken breast burgers and copious amounts of fries, not to mention the brioche bun and coleslaw 🤣 No complaints, an establishment that Yarmouth needs. Much appreciated. Carry on what you are doing!!!

Visited whilst staying in Great Yarmouth with my husband and was extremely happy with the meals that were served to us. We both ordered Cod and Chips, served with garden peas and we also enjoyed a glass of wine with our meal. The staff were very attentive, polite and friendly and our food was served fresh and hot to our table. The fish was delicious in a crispy batter and the chips were chunky and very tasty. Had a lovely time, will visit again when next in the area.

Recent makeover and minor changes to menu. Tuna and Cheese Melt panini. Lovely fresh salad and coleslaw. Friendly helpful staff. Seating inside and outside. Position on main seafront and lovely location.

Perfect food and great service. The belly pork was presented beautifully and tasted even better. By and away the best place to eat in Great Yarmouth.

Lovely restaurant with extremely professional and polite staff who always make you feel relaxed and looked after during your visit. The food is lovely with a good range of choice. We loved every minute of our visit to this place and make it a must every time we are in Great Yarmouth to book and eat here. They have also re-decorated the place and have made it feel very modern and posh. Great service guys! Keep it up. It was great when it was the Ocean Spray and its even better now. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back when I'm next in the area.

I came to great Yarmouth with my parents and other family members joined us for the weekend, they recommend this restaurant from a previous excellent visit. Well we were not disappointed from the moment we arrived the decor is amazing and the whole ambiance is excellent. The staff are great and can't do enough for you. The food is out of this world and our experience was so great we ended going 4 times during our visit. I took my parents for their anniversary and the team made it special for then, congratulating them etc. When we come back we are going to book into the hotel to experience the whole package. Well done to you all we had an excellent experience from you!

Another (this time a quick one) visit to Café Ocean for some drinks and a light bite to eat! New beer 'Encore' is very nice and we had a rather delicious mature cheese garlic bread with appetisers 😋 Also, popped our heads into the newly refurbished 'Box Tree' and it look gorgeous. Looking forward to getting booked in 😀

Visited here based on the reviews and they were right. Really pleasantly surprised. The staff were spot on, very attentive but not to intrusive, very polite and friendly. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. Great first experience here but it won’t be the last Great place

We stumbled across this restaurant. I'm glad we did. The food was amazing, great value for money. The staff are lovely and the restaurant is so clean and welcoming. I highly recommend this place. Will look forward to returning the next time I'm down.

What a horrible experience! Firstly I was devastated that the place had changed hands and the menu was totally different but reluctantly thought we'd give it a go, big mistake! The menu was tiny, boring and simplistic but I ordered beef & rice dish, it turned up eventually and drenched in balsamic vinegar and that is all I could taste, the meat was chewy and it was sickly. A very creepy waiter slid up to the table and asked how the food was, I said I didn't like mine so he got stroppy and proceeded to argue with me about it! But he did offer a new dish, I ordered something plain and simple, that couldn't be messed up and it was ok cafe food but nothing special. The waiter would keep creeping back being sarcastic and rude and kept asking questions and just would not leave us alone. We found him to be slimmy, rude and argumentative. As we were leaving he actually became really abusive, offensive nasty and intimidating, not nice when you have your 80yr old mother with you! I didn't like the food and told him so but that's no excuse for that vile behaviour. If I hadn't of had my mother with him I would have verbally retaliated and he would have felt it! Never will I go near that place again!

What a wonderful find. Ocean Cafe is new, with excellent service (our special thanks to Szymon and Morgan, two helpful and friendly staff who were extremely kind to our two YR7s), delicious and eclectic menu with generous portions, tasteful and warm decor with comfortable booths and many green plants. We had a truly lovely meal and can warmly recommend this bistro!

Our first visit and won’t be our last , great service from friendly staff and the the food was great to , a little Gem on the seafront, well worth a visit .

We have eaten here three nights out of our three night stay. The food is good quality, lots of choice. Always hot, delicious and generous portions. Great staff, friendly yet professional. I noticed there is lots of return custom. They are remembered. They are very diligent regarding Covid- 19 protocol. I highly recommend this restaurant. All in all, it’s a fantastic place to eat.

We had a fantastic breakfast in Cafe Ocean at the weekend. Breakfast was freshly made and the breakfast baguette was yummy, the price was also good too! The staff are so friendly and with all the Covid restrictions we felt safe and happy whilst there,they are very clean and disinfect not just the tables but all the seats too! Would 100% recommend to anyone who wants a decent breaky in Great Yarmouth

This is a cafe during the day Including a wonderful breakfast menu and between 5-7pm is a restaurant so the menus change and so does the ambience with Crystal glasses and a very good dinner menu

What a lovely find on such a miserable rainy day. Clean, warm, stylish and very inviting.Chap serving was very polite and friendly and coffee and cake was lovely.If we ever had to come back to yarmouth, we would definately stay at the hotel and eat here.

We booked for a meal for my wife and I and our friends, all 4 meals, starters and deserts were wonderful. The cleanliness of the premises, the food itself and the service were impeccable. I have eaten in some of the most high end restaurants/hotels across the country and can honestly that the food here tops a lot of them it is incredible. The service, food quality, portion sizes and presentation I would have expected to pay well over £100 for myself and my husband. A three course meal to this standard for less than £45 for the two of us incredible!! Make sure you book a room at the Hotel Ocean as once you have finished you will need it, pure comfort food, (Proper Christmas Day tummy vibes). Wake us up when breakfast is ready! Breakfast here is also outstanding!! Everything is made fresh and it’s delicious. It’s the perfect thing to start off your day, walking down the beach on a cold morning and your insides are all warm and content, nothing beats this feeling.

The food, the staff and decor are to die for! Absolutely love coming to dine here.The food is always so fresh and homemade.The Salted caramel cheesecake was recommended to us by the lovely guys that work here and oh my god it was amazing.

My wife and I enjoyed a weeks break in early September and visited this location whenever we were in Great Yarmouth. Sanitiser available on arrival and a one way system inside the premises is explained to you even if sitting outside. We enjoyed sitting outside as a lovely view across the road to watch the horse and carts and people watching.Service is prompt and very polite and we thoroughly enjoyed our drinks that we had here although we did not eat. We were not rushed at all and the staff were attentive without being overbearing and were seen to totally sanitise and clean down each table area when customers left their tables which was good to see.Very enjoyable coffee, very enjoyable location and quality friendly staff means we will definitely return when next in the area.

Enjoyed a lunch and a few drinks here in early September. We sat outside in the sunshine. We only had a jacket potato and a panini and chips but the food was lovely and fresh. Cider was good on draught and prices very reasonable for the location. The stand out for us was how polite the staff were. Thank you.

We booked a outside table at the café ocean on the sea front in great Yarmouth,we had a nice bottle of merlot to start with,the restaurant was quite busy for a Monday evening, my partner had lasagne with salad and chips which she said was very tasty, I had the hunters chicken with chips and salad, it was lovely and well presented, we had fresh fruit salad and ice cream and chocolate cheesecake with cream (we always share our desserts ),it was a lovely meal and the service was very good

Visited 21/9/2020 - what a fantastic place. Excellent fish, chips and mushy peas. Staff very friendly and everywhere was so clean and fresh. Would definitely recommend this wonderful place.

Visited here today for the first time after the staff came to our work place for the evening, lovely friendly staff, great food (taste and portion size and price), clean and fresh décor with calming atmosphere untill we arrived (haha).. definitely coming back .. by the way the milkshakes are a yes yes! the 2 from pamulas

Wonderful setting, great service. Really friendly and accommodating staff. Superb choice of food - absolutely something for everyone. We had the Fish and Chips and it was lovely. Highly recommended and we will most definitely come here again.

Cafe ocean provides what Great Yarmouth has been missing out on. Staff really are excellent so polite and smart and the food was terrific. Just sorry we didn't have room to sample the excellent coffee and cakes. Felt totally safe table and chairs properly cleaned and staff are very aware of social distancing. It's certainly in a league of it's own and I couldn't recommend enough.

Perfect location on sea front, excellent for “people watching!” 😂 Staff excellent, very smart and polite. Visited twice in our short stay. Did really well under current Covid restrictions and felt safe. Unfortunately time only allowed coffee and cake but meals looked lovely.

We had pancakes and coffee for breakfast outside on a beautiful sunny morning. The food was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for you - excellent customer service!I popped in to use the bathroom and did notice that staff inside were not wearing visors or masks which was a little surprising. They didn't for the outside tables but I thought that they would have used them when serving the customers inside. So if you are still a bit cautious like me, make sure you request a table outside. Having said that, the restaurant appeared very clean, there was a hand sanitiser machine on entry and tables were spaced out well. Tip:- Book or arrive early as it seems very popular with locals and tourists and the tables fill up quickly (especially if you want to sit outside)

We have just had lunch here and it was lovely, the staff were friendly and food was yummy. The main thing that stood out for me was the way they handle my son being sick everywhere. They just took it in their stride and did everything they could to help and not make a scene. Thank you so much for this we would definitely come back here for the food and service.

Customer service excellent. All extremely helpful and very pleasant. Rooms are lovely and very modern, Rooms cleaned and change of towels every day. Cannot do enough for you. One of the best places we have stayed. Oh and breakfast is just superb!

WOW what can we say about cafe ocean! We visited in July for the first time just after lockdown. The service we received from both the owners and staff was second to none. We then visited again in September for a short break, but were unable to stay at the attached hotel. Even though our hotel where we stayed offered a breakfast menu, we decided to eat here every day during our stay. We cannot praise the staff enough. They are all attentive, smart polite and simply amazing. The food is beautiful and freshly cooked to order and we couldn’t fault any of it. The lasagne is a must as are the steaks and the breakfasts are amazing. We were recognised from our visit in July and were made to feel very welcome. James and Daniel are amazing. The staff compliment the hotel and cafe perfectly. All the staff, Will, Simon, Morgan, James, and the young girl are are credit to the ocean cafe. (Can’t remember any more names). We decided from this experience to book again and this time we will be staying at the hotel in October and cannot wait. If ever in Great Yarmouth a must try and you will not be disappointed. On an overcast bank holiday in Great Yarmouth (staycation) needed to find somewhere for family lunch at short notice. Cafe Ocean looked like it would fit the bill. Were greated by well presented and helpfull stafe who were able to fined us a table . We recieved the the same type of service and attention which we would have recieved in France. The food was as good as it looked, and my Grandson's childrens menu Lasagne was excactly the same as the adults just a smaller portion.

We visited on a Saturday evening 6 of us. Everything was great, we had a fantastic meal & the service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this place

We had an evening meal and a breakfast at Cafe Ocean during a family weekend away in Yarmouth. Firstly, the service was amazing on both occasions. The staff were brilliant, so accommodating and couldn't have been better. Our evening meals were delicious, I had the chicken club and it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time! My partner had the double stack burger which was also amazing and the children loved their meals too. Breakfast was delicious also, the quality was of a very high standard and on both occasions everyone left very happy . Would definitely recommend!

Had breakfast here whilst staying in Great Yarmouth. Lovely sunny outdoor seating. Staff were so friendly and polite. Even brought us over some free hash browns as they were concerned the others may have come out too cool (which they weren’t). Very attentive. Food was gorgeous, 2 full English, one veggie breakfast and one pancakes. Coffee tasty. All satisfied customers. Recommend!

Had the best hunters chicken and chips served with a lovely fresh salad the chicken was juicy not a but dry.chips where thick and cooked to perfection it was a lovely sized portion. Visited here 3 times during our weeks stay in Great Yarmouth. The food was lovely; we had breakfasts (pancakes were awesome!) panini/baguettes and premium burgers and all were excellent. The differentiating factor for me was the service. All the staff were so well presented, extremely polite and very friendly. Customer service was superb and matched the excellent food!

Great location on the seafront. We had full English breakfasts, bacon sarnie and pancakes (4 people, not greedy!) all the food came quickly and was delicious. Lovely staff, clean place and good social distancing measures

Our daughter (age 9) fancied some cake, well if she was going to have some then it would be rude for my wife and me not to join her!! As we didn’t know what they had my daughter went straight up to a member of staff outside and asked what sort of cake they had? He listed all the different cakes and then the chocolate cake with gold balls on it!! Well that was her hooked and before we knew what was going on she had got us a table lol So with my daughter definitely wanting the chocolate cake which had clinched the deal I chose the lemon drizzle and my wife had the carrot cake, we all had the cake and coffee deal which they were offering (tea for my daughter) the staff were all friendly the cappuccino’s and tea were very nice and as for the cake!!!! We were all satisfied and felt ready to pop, I believe from the chocolate smile I believe it was a hit with the little lady too.Many thanks.

Came across this place walking along the seafront. It’s decor and layout indicated it offered something a little better than many of the seafront places. A wide-ranging menu, with specials. Because of Eat Out to Help Out I had ribeye steak with all the trimmings with Yuzu Lime Pie. The steak was deliciously perfect. Very friendly pleasant staff. Great ambience for sitting outside on the seafront. Well worth it. Recommended.

OK, so with the chancellor of exchequer offering 50% off Mon - Weds during August we have been to Cafe Ocean around a dozen times - from breakfasts (the Eggs Royale are to die for - perfect poached eggs) to lunch (jackets, salads, paninis etc) to evening meals (steaks, lasagne, fish and chips etc).Every meal served with a smile from very polite waiting staff and delicious... lots of little details (eg bread warmed up) make the food amazing.Highly recommended - newly opened, refurbished and well worth a trip - though booking is definitely advised.Can't wait until they open Ocean restaurant.

Went to Cafe Ocean for a quick coffee and snack and the service and courtesy of the staff was excellent whilst we was there for 45 minutes, 3 waiter looked after us and the breakfast as my nephew stated was awesome.

The waiting staff here were outstanding. They really did look after us and were so pleasant and well mannered. We loved the way they all take cared of us particularly Will. The food was also excellent. This together with the lovely view from the sea and beach on the terrace where we sat made it an excellent choice for our day out in Great Yarmouth.

This seemed to be very popular and had to book a table for the following day. They gave us such a warm and friendly welcoming and didn’t take long to clean our table. We chose to sit outside in the sunshine and under parasols. It was a lovely atmosphere watching the seafront. The menu had lots of options for food and drinks. Our lunch was the homemade lasagne, beef burger in brioche bun and a bbq chicken melt. Delicious! Big portions too. And even better the prices were good. Definitely would love to dine here again. 100% recommend

Breakfast is nice, although above average prices. Great coffee, eggs benedict very good. Strawberry milkshake is wonderful. Attentive, friendly service. On the downside, the Wi-Fi is fairly hopeless, and it's impossible to enjoy eating and drinking when there are so many smokers, both outside in the dining area, and neighbours who chain smoke and the wind blows the filthy smoke all over the dining area. A nice place, ruined by inconsiderate smokers.

We came across this place along the front in Great Yarmouth We were greeted by will who looked after us extremely well We had our dog He was given water and fussed over Will looked after us and very very polite well spoken and accommodating The food was fresh very well presented taste lovelyPossibly the best restaurant along the front The staff are clearly very well trained & smartly dressed

This place stands out on Great Yarmouth's Promenade for all the right reasons. They are certainly in touch with the modern day coastal visitor (no plastic flowers or wipe clean table cloths here) in creating a venue that is modern yet welcoming. This is defiantly a place that has seen considerable investment. The staff are all very friendly and service timely. The menu is your typical classic dishes but put together very well and tasting great. First impressions of the place and food you would think this to be expensive yet this isn't the case. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

A very enjoyable lunch with attentive and friendly service. Cannot fault anything. Sat out on the terrace and enjoyed jacket potatoes and panini with drinks. Kids had chicken strips with chunky fries. All very good

I went to Cafe Ocean this morning as I really liked the look of it. Me and my daughter were welcomed by extremely friendly yet professional staff. Decor was brilliant, very smart and the place was clean. Nice selection of breakfast items, also for kids. I had egg benedicts with smoked salmon and my daughter went for scrambled eggs, beans and bread. Everything was fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious. Thank you for starting my day so nicely!

Friendly staff and love the new decoration, food was excellent and we all enjoyed our breakfasts. Lots to choose from and all the meals good out loonies excellent. When the weather is nice great big undercover at the front of the restaurant.

Well all I can say is this is by far, the best place i have eaten in great yarmouth for the many years i have been coming, we definitely be coming back. Wonderful friendly staff cleaned thoroughly after each sitting, defo a place to visit to eat 5 star

Called in on our way to pleasure beach had two victora sandwiches and a bacon sandwich with 2 orange juices a caramel milkshake and a water even without eat out to help out discount it was very reasonable will definitely return

Had veggie breakfast it was very good but the portions are a bit on the small side for the price, I also ate here last year I had avocado on bagel with poached egg it was over priced and only got half a bagel , only ate here because of COVID discount this time

Went in with a child and two adults to have a coffee and cake. The red velvet cake was lovely but I felt that it had too much cream. The Victoria sponge was light but tasteless and was not enjoyable. One of the adults had a latte but it was fairly average. The food and drink overall was not great.

We headed here for breakfast after driving past and it was amazing. Full English, eggs royale and American pancakes all fully exceeded expectations. Staff were helpful, friendly and extremely welcoming plus there were great views of the seafront. We will definitely be visiting again.

I don't often write reviews but after visiting today for a quick lunch I feel the cafe deserves an excellent review. Firstly, your staff were the most well mannered and friendly I've come across - particularly the two young waiters that served us today. The cafe is in a great location especially if its a nice day as you can sit outside. Inside was very clean and modern too and its nice to see the little finishing touches like hanging baskets. We had light bites (Panini's and baguettes) which were really fresh and good quality and the portions were generous.Thanks for a lovely lunch and proving that great service is still out there!

After coming on holiday to Great Yarmouth with my wife and son, we decided to eat lunch here for the first time. I couldn't recommend this place enough and wish we'd have tried it years ago. The wife and I had sandwiches/baguette and the lad, a kids lasagne. I would highly recommend this establishment

Fresh food, attentive staff. This is a fantastic addition to Great Yarmouth’s restaurant scene. We had the vegan tart which was great. We will be returning to have the sandwiches and also pancakes that we saw a fellow eater have and they looked amazing!

A lovely walk along the seafront topped off with an Americano and a scone. Both were excellent. The scone was served warm which was a pleasant surprise and the coffee was just right. Great service and all with a smile. I will definitely be coming again.

After a lovely morning walk along the beach, this place was the perfect spot to enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast up on the terrace! The views are superb along with the staff! Inside is very clean and tidy with modern decor. This is my new favourite spot!! Love supporting a new local business that's fairly new!! Well done team x

We walked past Wednesday looking at the restaurants along the seafront, for somewhere to book for dinner for 4 learning disabled adults, 3 carers & a little one. The restaurant looked lovely, we approached the chap at the door & booked a table, he was so friendly & helpful. We returned later that evening for our booking, we were greeted at the door by the same chap, who offered to help us in with our wheelchair, and another chap came over to greet us, guided us in with the chair & got us seated. Our orders were taken, the drinks & food came out really quickly, the food was so nice, we all really enjoyed it. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble, the staff were so incredibly lovely. We liked it there so much, we are returning today (Friday) for breakfast on the last morning of our holiday! Will definitely be coming back next time we are in Yarmouth!

This restaurant has recently been taken over and refurbished. We called in on the off chance and were welcomed straight in. The food was lovely, the staff and owners were super friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back when we next visit Great Yarmouth

Wonderful cafe on the sea front eat in or out kids menu but the food is very good quality eggs Benedict and English breakfast served food was so tasty , we will visit again tomorrow service was also impressive and very polite If you want to be made welcome and enjoy good food please visit the cafe / restaurant

Looking for somewhere to eat and walking along the seafront this place caught my eye. Tables and chairs outside on the promenade with a sea view. It feels very continental and modern, beautiful interior, comfortable booths inside to sit and eat with a degree of privacy, easy to social distance here. I fancied the ham, egg and chips, you can tell the quality of the ham and not shy of the amount. This will certainly be my go to place next time im in Yarmouth... they even crush their own coffee beans. Excellent place, friendly staff, modern facilities... amazing coffee and cake. You will be hard pressed to find a better place in Great Yarmouth..

Family group of 7 sat at table with extra chair on Sunday 5th July. Cafe was very well organised with staff very on the ball re: sanitising, distancing and ppe. Very impressive and staff friendly and apologetic for asking us to complete track and trace details which we totally understood and were happy to complete. Service was efficient and prompt although we only had drinks. Also used the toilets which were clean and one way route in and another route out which was well signed and easy to follow. The cakes looked really good quality when I saw them as I walked in. Also noticed that staff were cleaning tables and chairs promptly after being used by customers. Very impressed as staff were well trained and on the ball as well as efficient. Will return here on our next trip for sure.

Small, but very clean, lovely welcome from Raquel. Food home made and fresh, clean toilet. Unusual to find such nice fresh food on the sea front. Beautiful lasagna, panini and fish and chips. Much nicer than expected, great service, great food and lovely welcome👍👍

We had trouble deciding where to eat after deciding we were humgry as 1 of us is vegetarian. We decided to try this place and it was a decent choice. My son had cheesy garlic bread and said it was great followed by a tuna and cheese pannini, which was so piping hot that he burnt his tongue because he couldn't wait to dig in! My husband had the tomato soup followed by a greek salad which he reported both to be gorgeous. I had the sweet potato fries, and they were lightly battered and perfectly done, although some aioli or hot sauce mayo may have improved the enjoyment. I had the chicken ceasar salad to follow and although the chicken is cooked to order, it was a bit overdone for my taste, otherwise it was very nice, but I had to bring most of it home as my eyes were bigger than my stomach.

Only called for a coffee, came away determined to return for some food. The coffee was great, the price was right, and the staff were so friendly and efficient. Will be back 😀

Have been here several times before and if we're in Yarmouth, don't go anywhere else. Popped in for lunch today and wanted to avoid chips (although they do fantastic chips), this place is perfect. The Greek salad was beautifully presented and delicious, sandwiches are freshly made and generous. A couple near us were having vegetable soup that looked and smelt amazing, apparently its a 60 year old Maltese recipe. For the money it's great value, portions are generous and the food is always great. The staff are really good, friendly, welcoming and efficient. The only one tiny criticism is that the bread used for the sandwiches is plain old sliced supermarket bread. It's a tiny thing and would certainly not put us off going back.
