Cafe Med - St Johns Street in Islington

Popped in on our way home for a light bite and drink; it did not disappoint. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Great customer service and sitting outside in the sun was perfect.

Don't know where Café Med is, but 370 St John Street EC1V 4NN is TheGate vegetarian restaurant, and has been for some years.

Dropped in ad hoc as it looked OK. Greeted by friendly staff. Menu reasonably priced and varied. Had the fish cakes which were tasty and the salad very nice! Reasonable sized portion. Down side was the portion size of the dessert. 3 very small apricots for four and a half quid Is a bit mean? They were nice though! Very nice Turkish coffee to finish. Probably drop in again if down this way.

Food is very good. Service is helpful. Really like the grilled salmon which comes with potatoes and beans. Also the Caesar salad and the hallomi cheese as an appetiser.

Good: good service, nice atmosphere, good food, what's not to like?

place was poorly lit, ordered the lamb dish, only had limited wines by the glass, waited a while for it to arrive, overcooked on a cold plate. Poor portion size for sixteen quid plus. Waitress just dumpled the plate infront of me saying there you go!
