Cafe G & Restaurant in Amber Valley

Our lunch was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and quick. I was very impressed.

Thanks to a random choice we chose Café G. What a lucky choice. On a grey day it felt welcoming, the overall impressions were clean, despite a small footprint not small or crowded, and the furniture was just right for the pleasant décor. Then two simple meals later we were well satisfied with the short wait, the pleasant service and the presentation of a well cooked meal.

Not dog friendly and you get bellowed at from the till. Not a lot more to say I live in belper and support cafe gs but not any more sort your staff out!!

Visited today 9 August exceptional cafe, with fantastic polite and friendly owner and great staff, such a welcoming cafe. The food is excellent, food cooked fresh to order. Definately the best cafe we have been to. We have been coming to Cafe G now for over 6 years. Thank you all for all the enjoyable meals every time we visit 👍😊 would definately recommend you visit this gem of a cafe if you are in the area 👍😊

One of the best gluten free cakes I’ve had in a cafe for a long time! Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere - smashing way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. Would 100% come back again.

What a hidden gem, highly recommend. Delicious Turkish food (and more!) served hot and fresh by friendly staff and great portions. What more could you ask for. Glad we popped in and we will definitely be back.

The worst food I have ever experienced in Belper. The lamb wraps contained only a few tiny pieces of lamb, most of which was fat or gristle. They were so greasy the wrap was inedible. My daughters nugget meal came with two different types of nugget and was so over cooked it looked like it has been sat in the oven for a week, again making it inedible. We were told the milk had gone off for the coffee we ordered. They had ran out of chiken. All in all a terrible experience. We won't be back.

Called here today hoping for a nice meal with my disabled partner and our assistance dog, says dog friendly on the sign outside, we walked in as far as the cake counter in the middle only to be stopped and said the front of the cafe is the only place to sit with a dog, in that area all the chairs are the low bucket type chair which is not suitable for my partner, so I explained that our dog is an assistance dog so could we sit in the other side where the chairs are more suitable, I'll go and ask for you was the response we got, so we stood for a few minutes, they then came back and said do you have any documentation regarding the dog..he's a mini Daschund wearing his collar that identifies him as to what he is, you must show paperwork ,again I explained there is no legal requirement for paperwork and we shouldn't be questioned like this ,they said sorry but you can't come into the back,I said that they discriminating against us they couldn't care less, so we walked out and told them to shove their business. If you have any disability or a dog that you need for your wellbeing do not go in this cafe. Unlucky for them is that myself and partner are actually part time food critics!

Our first visit to Cafe G this morning for breakfast. Cannot praise the place enough. The greeting the service the quality and quantity of my full breakfast and the same goes for the eggs benedict that my wife had what can we say ? Simply the best does not seem enough really ! Absolutely the best in Belper no kidding ! See you next week for sure !

Excellent service. Lovely coffee, delicious cakes and a varied menu that includes vegetarian and vegan options. Perfect for teas and coffee, snacks and light bites. The breakfast offering looks fantastic.... One day maybe! Cheerful and helpful staff.

It was a nice caffe. The staff were attentive and the food was nice. As a visitor to Belper I had it recommended and I could tell it was a frequent amongst the residents.

Come here on a a regular basis but have to say dissapointed today, made to get my own drink and it's freezing in the cafe.

Three of us walked in on a Monday lunchtime for an all-day breakfast. The meals were very reasonably priced, portions were generous, and service was friendly and efficient. Coffees were very nice. Overall a pleasant lunchtime experience indeed.

Lovely atmosphere with good and polite staff. Decaffeinated tea and coffee was a bonus. I had Tomato and Basil soup. It needs to be renamed Basil soup with a slight hint of tomato. I think the lid must have come off the Basil pot! Totally unedible!

Excellent food at a reasonable price. Very clean and tidy with very friendly staff

Avoid if you have allergies.. informed them of allergies and after evidence of a severe reaction on our 2 year old (hives and digestive irritation) I asked what is in the dish.. I was then informed that it had an allergen in.. misinformed and trained staff. I was offered a free visit but declined based on the risk experienced.

We ordered two lamb gyros and two cans of pepsi max.Hardly any lamb in the gyros... no comparison to those I've experienced in Greece and all cost the best part of £25. Very poor value for money. Thy cafe itself is nice as is the service and on previous visits we have enjoyed it there hence our return. Maybe they had run out of lamb??

Speedy service, fantastic menu full of variety - definitely an option for everyone! Lovely atmosphere and surroundings, clean and tidy. Great selection of cakes and desserts on display by the till. Well priced for the portion and quality you get. Offering decaf tea aswell which was a bonus!

Had the Mezze breakfast, added sausage and bacon and an Americano to drink. Huge portion, extremely tasty but couldn't quite finish it. Favourite breakfast so far in Belper.

Lovely little bistro cafe, serving and amazing selection of foods, including Turkish dishes. I have eaten here a couple of time and on both occasions, I have been impressed with the food quality and how delicious it was. Great service, and good value for money.

Today we had a really great lunch at Cafe G, we were greeted by the chef when we walked in, quickly followed by a very polite waiter taking our order, the menu had so much to offer that we struggled to choose. I eventually chose the chicken flatbtbread which was absolutely delicious! It arrived very fresh, very quick and served with a smile, we were asked throughout our meal if we were OK or if we needed anything but both our meals were divine! The chef even came to our table to ask if we were enjoying our meal, we also heard him teaching his staff how to cook which was a pleasure to hear. All around we would highly recommend this place and look forward to coming back, great food! Great service and great portion size!

This was honestly the best damn vegan breakfast we have ever had the pleasure of filling our faces with. We didn’t need to eat another thing for the rest of the day. We’ve been vegan for over 20 years so we’ve had some dirty breakfasts in our time too!! This is worth travelling for and the fact that it might be different every time dependent on what they have is just fabulous. We will be back for another soon.

Such a fabulous place to stop for a bite to eat and hands down, one of THE best breakfasts I've ever had. The staff were extremely pleasant, the lady at the counter was really friendly and the atmosphere in Cafe G was great (hardly anyone in which was nice). The tables are beautiful and quite the talking piece for sure. The food came out hot and presented wonderfully and everything was cooked to perfection. The owner even came down to ask people how their food was and if everything was okay, which was lovely, as did the lady at the counter. Now THAT is service. Would definitely have the breakfast again and look forward to stopping off here in the future... thank you! 😊👍🏻

I had a lamb wrap and my partner had salmon with poached eggs. My partners lunch was ok, apart from the toast being burnt on the edges, but she didn't mind to much. The lamb was very chewy and tasteless, which was accompanied by peppers. When I picked up the wrap the grease leaked out on to the plate. I quietly called a waitress over and asked her if it was supposed to be that greasy, she replied, I think so. Very young staff probably unable to deal with it professionally.

No where on the menu does it say we stop serving breakfast menu at "" time! So asked for breakfast cob of sausage & egg, bacon & egg & just a sausage one. Only to be told at 1.45pm we've stop serving them now. So off I went to see what else everyone wanted, one of us wanted an omelet but with the lack of eggs thought I'd ask 1st if it was because they'd run out of eggs? Apparently no it's just as I was told they'd decided not to do any more of them. But hay what do expect when the place is run with teenagers serving & just being teenagers! Always come here when we pop into Belper have suggested thus place to others. Guess what?? Want be any more.

Called in today and had a Mediterranean breakfast which was vegetarian. In a word, Lush... Friendly staff and plenty of seating. Recommended

Great for Coffee, be cautious when ordering food if you have allergies! Staff had no idea what was in the cakes, when told about nut allergies they said it would probably be ok

Wonderful café in the heart of Belper. We are a tricky party to feed with one gluten free and two vegans plus others and there are plenty of options for all of us! Dog friendly too I think from the sign I saw on the door. Would heartily recommend!

Good food, generous portions, busy place but all staff cheerful & well motivated. Recommend Mediterranean breakfast. Level access for wheelchair & pram. Disabled toilet & baby change. Child friendly

Ok and decent baguette. Lovely lady serving. Nice Atmos. Quick. Those wooden tables up front aren't very practical and are too sloped if you have back or bone problems. Food kept slipping down and I had to stretch to reach the plate. I'd replace them with more fitting tables. They look nice but aren't that great. Sorry.

Had a beautiful full English breakfast here with my husband. Never disappointed with any meals eaten here. Coffee and cakes great to. Whenever we are in Belper we always go here.

First visit to Belper last Saturday. Called in for coffee ☕ and a cake 🎂. Salted caramel flapjack was OK and enjoyed the cappuccino.

Nice cafe but card only payments

Been here a couple of times with my family and it's always been amazing. I had chicken flatbread today, my partner had kofta wrap and kids had the nuggets and chips. We also had Turkish coffee, everything tasted wonderful. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really like the family friendly atmosphere here too, the staff are lovely and great with the kids. We always feel welcome. Thank you Cafe G!

Went there with the missus and 4 kids, kids had breakfast while us adults got a chicken flatbread and mince and cheese pide.....was so tasty and the vegetables and chicken was fresh

Obviously came on a bad day with new staff serving . Me and my wife came for breakfast but only one came . The other was delivered to the wrong table . After waiting some time mine had not arrived so I complained to the young waiter who shrugged his shoulder and said I’m sorry what more can I say . Still waiting I asked for the manager who quickly got my breakfast to me . Then I realised our toast hadn’t arrived . The food made up for the bad service and the manager couldn’t have been more apologetic but seriously sort your staff out .

Absolutely amazing Greek/Turkish style food, better than any restaurant's than I have found so far, brilliant staff and really good prices what more could you want. We travel 20 miles to eat here, try it, I doubt that you'll be disappointed.

Wow what a gem. What a pleasant surprise on King Street in Belper Cafe G a warm friendly welcome from the staff. An interesting diverse Menu with something for everyone including a good Vegan choice. I had a Lamb wrap which came on a plate with salad and coleslaw, let me tell you it was delicious washed down with a Latte the best tasting coffee I have drank in ages. The cafe has a nice atmosphere and is scrupulously Clean. Oh and it's very good value. So if your looking for something a little different to the norm give them a try, let me say you won't be disappointed.

Nice variety of breakfast or lunch to choose from, at a reasonable price... As I live locally, I occasionally pop in for breakfast with my partner, and always enjoy their food..

Very very friendly, nice coffee great food. Only had breakfast and coffee but all the sausages and bacon were great quality. Very friendly and polite staff. Full of local people ( always a good sign)

Second time eating at Cafe G both times disappointed... I ordered the lamb gyros, it came looked like someone threw up on my plate but I tried it the lamb was dry and chewe, I trued to eat didn't want to male a fuss but after 2 bites I couldn't stomach it. I sent it back and ask for a cheese burger, I was told because I had 2 bites of the food I can't have anything else. I sat and eat chips for mother's day meal. The owner then came to me after 20 minutes I told him I didn't like it the lamb was chewe and dry, he said lamb cannot be chewe and dry. I said ok and left it at that as he had no intention of listening to me rest in hearing feedback or rectifying my food. Another one of my issue how the owner speaks to his staff members shouting at young lady in the cafe he is rude and acts like a bully. I hope that staff member is OK. The servers are great but will not be going back here again .

Lovely and surprisingly large cafe in the heart of Belper. Coffee is delicious, food also, I ordered the 'small' English Breakfast and it was anything but 😋. Gluten free and Vegan options. Friendly staff and chilled atmosphere. Enjoy. M

Very good food but they seemed a little less organised than usual. Our meals came out ten minutes apart and other orders went out to the wrong tables.

I was seriously impressed with this place. We didn't know what to expect as we stumbled across this place randomly last Sunday afternoon. I had the Chicken Gyros and wife had the Lamb Shish Kebab.... I haven't tasted better outside of Istanbul. Beautifully cooked tender pieces of lamb and fresh salads with home made dressings. Very inexpensive. I would expect to pay twice as much elsewhere. We have recommended this place to family and will be visiting again ourselves.

Only went in for drinks but was served quickly and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks, coffee and tea were good. A good range of cakes on display were very tempting but my diet made me turn away. 😔 Looking around at food other people had it looked delicious, the menu was interesting and caters for vegetarian and vegan customers. I will be eating here on my next trip to Belper. Would recommend
