Cafe Fish in Belfast

First visit and will not be my last. Ordered fish bites and they were amazing strips of white cod good perfectly massive portion.

Made a phone order told it would be ready to collect in 20min didn’t start cooking food until I arrived specifically ask for my fish to be very very well done got food home the batter in the fish was doughy and not cooked to my request I had went out of my way to go there very disappointed.

De vez en cuando tienes más hambre o la freidora se da cuenta.Esta vez mi único eglefino fue ese.Masa ligera crujiente sobre eglefino fresco y carnoso con una docena de chips gratis. Y salsa de tomate en una tina. ¿Que es no gustar? 5 estrellas esta vez.Recomendado.

Had a fish supper from the takeaway branch. The fish was a good size and the chips were nice and non greasy. Seemed slightly expensive though!

El pescado estaba perfectamente cocinado y en gran cantidad. Lo mandamos a nuestra casa. Entrega rápida, precio decente, comida deliciosa. :)

I am reviewing the carry out only. The sit in is across the street and I find it less greasy and better.But tonight Monday ,as sit in is closed I ordered a single cod.As long as you eat it straight away and open box it will not get soggy.My fish was a nice size and lovely and fresh. Just a tad greasy,mopped up by extra tissues I took.At 5.20 stg it is more expensive than most. In fact a pensioners fish supper includes a smaller fish,half chip,beans/peas and tea or coffee for 5.95 stg. A real good deal.But I was not hungry enough. I enjoyed the fish and this place is always busy. Staff are less friendly than sit in,but are busy,so understandable.Give it a try.

Cafe Fish es muy caro, pero casi siempre es muy agradable.Lamentablemente, la última vez que estuve en Cafe Fish, la semana pasada, la trabajadora que parece estar siempre detrás del mostrador fue extremadamente grosera con un cliente.El cliente había recogido accidentalmente el pedido equivocado y, al devolver la comida, la empleada comenzó a reprender al hombre en voz alta frente a una tienda de papas fritas. The very best fish and chips I've ever had anywhere in the world. It beats many other chip shops, even a top central London chippy.

No estoy seguro de cómo tienen calificaciones tan altas. La hamburguesa estaba seca y sin sabor. Las patatas fritas y la salsa de curry no sabían absolutamente nada. Horrible. We saw the girl wheeling the food in from the other cafe fish across the road. £3.75 for a portion of chips! Crazy stupid prices for mediocre food, if that. Won’t be back. Miserable staff too

We had the traditional fish and chips, the cod pieces and the chicken goujons they were all fantastic.

We had the cod fish fillet, chips, mashed peas, and tarter sauce. The meals included drinks. Vinegar and salt were available. There are 2 tables for outdoor seating and a small bar to sit at inside. It’s worth the stop and they have great lunch time specials!

Place was packed so I hobbled up the steep stairs to the area above. Took a while to get my main order,after tea was served before the bread and butter.

Sit in cafe good but the take away across the road horrible. Fish not good and also batter. Seems to be entirely different fish from the sit in cafe.

Comimos en la cena en Cafe Fish en 340 Lisburn Rd la noche de la primera comunión de mis hijas. Con los gemelos de 2 años, un niño de 10 y 7 años, nos tranquilizamos de inmediato y nos atendió muy atentamente David. Además de recibir fichas adicionales, el anfitrión vino y le dio a mi hija un regalo muy generoso que realmente hizo su día. La guinda del pastel a cada uno de nuestros 4 niños se les ha dado una paleta de hielo de cortesía, muy pensada. ¡Y este tratamiento especial fue además del mejor bacalao fresco que hemos tenido! ¡Muy recomendable!

He comido desde el café de la cafetería para llevar unas cuantas veces, así que sabía que la comida era buena. Llevé a mi hermana al restaurante para que ella supiera lo bueno que era el pescado. Bueno, a ambos nos encantó y el precio de 8. 95 para una cena de pescado es increíble para un restaurante en Belfast. Sin duda recomendaría este lugar a cualquiera. Nunca he probado el pescado tan bueno como este.

Visited Cafe Fish for the first time yesterday and most impressed with everything. Freshly cooked meal with massive portions. Lovely chips and huge haddock with light crispy batter. Gabrielle and staff most welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back next time we're in Belfast

I usually get a pensioners cod supper with beans and tea for 6.50 I think it is,and eat it in my camper van.

A great chippy! Lovely food, massive portion sizes and food is always delivered promptly and warm, very impressive. Many slightly limited for delivery, but does what it says on the tin! Would recommend.

Have called in a few times for good quality chip shop food with somewhere pleasant to eat. Can be difficult to get parked though!

Went with my son to sit-in cafe, bith had fish and chips with mushy peas, bread and butter and a pot if tea. Total cost £20.45. Worth every penny. Large portions and cooked fresh to order. Delicious

The portion sizes have definitely shrunk and prices remain high. But the quality of the fish is good. Chips are average. Good staff especially Gary and the lady owner. I remain loyal to them as do others. Friendly place.

I really enjoyed the cod, it was fresh, crispy, and light. Definitely would recommend if you fancy fish and chips.

Fresh battered fish, crispy huge portion, Top level gravy, loads of chips. excellent service. no issue with the price either. 10 on 10. I was staying nearby and went back twice. There is a take away one side of the road and a sit down spot the other. I had take out.

I ordered a large fish and chips. The portion was big and the chips are lovely. I would recommend the curry sauce as I size. It can be very busy so pre ordering your food is advised. The chicken burger is also lovely.

Everyone luvs the taste of Fish & Chips from a chippie, so yip I called in for the wife and myself. Haddock and chips for her and fish bites super for me... can’t say anything except stuffed and lay for a hour gorgeous especially soaked in salt and vinegar. We visit often and Gabby the owner is a lovely woman. She really goes out of her way to make her customers feel special. Especially for those who have different dietary requests. Don't know any other restaurant that would go far and beyond like this one. Well done and thank you.

My wife and I wanted to bring our younger grandson Gabriel out for his 9 birthday. It's especially important to bring him to somewhere he enjoys. There was 6 of us and we certainly weren't disappointed, everything was delicious. Gabrielle (the owner) always makes us feel welcome

Having been a number of times and always well pleased I never thought to do a review though it is very much deserved. We go at lunch time for the lunch time deal. Fish and chips as they ought to be, quality well cooked fish and fantastic chips. The helping is large even for a big eater like me. The staff are very friendly and efficient.

We ordered our food using the Deliveroo App. The fish and chips arrived within the estimated time, piping hot. Cafe Fish portions are for the hungry, three of us had battered cod- crispy batter, soft white fish - perfect. My guilty pleasure is a pastie which was yum. Soft and spicy inside, crispy golden batter outside. Chip portions are enormous, we ordered three for four of us and had a whole portion left over!

An island surrounded by fresh fish and Cafe Fush imports Frozen Norwegian fish. An absolute disgrace. Also brings English potatoes over to make chips. Come on guys it is Ireland, the home of spuds. Also half chips warm and half cold. They throw hot chips on top of cold ones and serve them out. At the prices charged you need to up your game.

Este lugar es una joya escondida u como un 'correcta' o frituras de pescado tradicional y patatas fritas. Además de la comida, el servicio es cálido y amable. Went for a walk up the Lisburn road and decided to try our usual order of cheesy chips and curry chips in Cafe fish for a change. Probably one of the worst ones we've had. I know they are mainly famous for their fish but you would think a chippie can get chips right. The chips were fried weird, almost tasted like one day old chips. Probably to do with the way they defrost it before frying. The chips could barely be called edible. Also the curry sauce provided was really bad, small tub probably enough for half that amount of chips and very watery.First time I have thrown a chippie away

A Great little spot for Fish & Chips. Glad we went when we did because 15 minutes later there was no place to sit. The fish was excellent and just the right portion. Definitely worth another visit.

We have lived in Belfast now for 4 years and Cafe Fish has been our favourite Chippy. After our holidays we couldn't wait to get our usual regular fish and a large fish which has usually to be bent in half to fit in the box! Boy were we disappointed! Regular was a small fish sitting lonely in the middle of a box and the large was no where near the size it used to be. Will give it one more try in the hope it was just a small batch....fingers crossed.

Went to Cafe Fish on Thursday 17th August for lunch with the family Had the cod supper on the specials board 12 year old had the pastor supper and 3 year old had the children's sausage meal Couldn't fault any of it simply delicious and wow what portions!!!Place was spotless clean as were the toilets ,very pleasant staff , noticed on the door they'd received an excellence award from TripAdvisor in 2015 ,well that was no wonder I hope they get another this year 3 year old really appreciated free ice lolly on the way outDefinitely try this lace well worth a visit

My wife and I walked along the Lisburn Road at the weekend, looking for a bit of lunch. We got fed up with all of the cafes, etc., offering over priced coffee, croissants, 'lite bites', etc to the beautiful people and found this slightly old fashioned fish restaurant. It is a relatively new restaurant (circa 2 years), but the name has been on the Lisburn Road for almost 15 years as a fast food outlet.The lunch - fish and chips and all the sides - was both welcome and reasonably priced. All the food was freshly prepared and cooked. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the staff cordial yet professional. It was what it was. Nice and simple food.

We visited here on 29th July, we were greeted by friendly young man who took our order promptly. We both got the battered cod and chips meal. It was delicious, the nicest fish I've had in a long time, fresh and tasty. Quick service friendly Cost £21 for two large sit down meals with drinks Would go again

Well, the best on the Lisburn Road. If you're anywhere near there you should definitely pop in. There's a takeaway part as well as a cafe so you choose to eat at the very close-by Cranmore Park on a sunny day or enjoy your food inside.

This place is what it is - quintessential Lisburn Road haute cuisine it ain't! But I have long enjoyed it for a cheap bite. Yesterday evening we tried upstairs for the first time and they brought us the wrong order - however, it was scarcely noticeable (it was entirely correct but for one piece between the two of us). It didn't bother us, but five minutes later they insisted on correcting it, adding the correct piece and some chips (but leaving everything else), effectively giving us extra at no charge and topping up a sauce while they were at it. This meant that about two and a half tasty meals, two glasses of wine and two more drinks still came in at under £30. In short, you can't beat this place for value and for casual but professional service.

£7.49 for a standard fish supper which was of average quality. Theres a chippy on the upper Ormeau Road (wont mention the name) where for £10 you get one fish supper,one chip,two pasties and two sausages which where of at least as good quality. Owners please wise up and punters don't give them the pleasure.

This is without doubt our favorite chip shop by a country mile. The fish is beautiful and worth the wait of being cooked to order. The children's meals are great value and I adore the mushy peas! I agree with some other reviews that the quantity of chips you get fluctuates and if you order a portion of sausages/pastie/fish on it's own you get very few, but you did only order the other item so if you want chips then order a supper meal or portion of chips separately. Haven't tried the sit in yet but if it's as good as the take away then I'll not be disappointed.

Waited 30 mins for fried chicken and chips, couldn't wait any longer and asked for a refund. Lots of attitude for the till staff beg humpy. Only was 4 people in. Wouldn't waste my time again. Service needs sacked and replaced.

This is truly an excellent cafe and well worth the trip across town. I've even meet folk who drive from the suburbs of north Belfast, so I know I'm not alone in loving the traditional chippy.

A picture says a thousand words, you don't get a scoop of chips with a piece of fish. They hand pick you four out.

It's now a must visit place for my tea while working in N.Ireland. The restaurant is brilliant. The standard never drops and nor does the hospitality. Gabi is a great host and loves to come and chat. Which is great when your working away. A clear winner and well recommended.

The fish quality goes up and down, from beautiful to Ok at worst. The chips seem to be on the smaller size but still very tasty. I always try to get the lunch time special that finished at 2.30 I think. The staff are always friendly, just wish their was one on my doorstep and not over two miles away.

Called into the cafe for tea. It was the first time I had been there. I was very impressed with the stylish decor and the 5* rating for cleanliness on the door. We were greeted by a very friendly male employee who made us feel very welcome. I had the haddock and chips with garlic mayo. It was simply delicious and was a very generous portion. My mum had the tartare sauce with her fish supper and it was really nice. Would definitely recommend this cafe!

Visited the take-out today. I ordered two sausages same as my brother. The sausages were priced at 95p each. After waiting for 15 minutes (with no explanation to why it took so long) we opened up the food in the shop and were completely shocked to find there was two sausages in the same packet with literally 6 chips (yes I counted as I was very angry that I paid £2 for literally two sausages). Complety overpriced and not overly friendly staff either, very disappointed.

There are very few places I will recommend. Without hesitation I recommend Cafe Fish! You have to wait - but who wants cooked food reheated?

Lets just start with the chicken burgers omg to die for! Arrived at 9oclock and they were shutting "i got the opening times mixed up" they still let us come in and have dinner life savers!.. amazing staff so friendly! Love this place. Will be back asap. Xxx

Always great food and service. Brilliant run family run business and congrats to Gabby and Paul for such as nice family. The carry-out is great we use it once a week. Fish bites are great 4 large pieces cod crispy batter, everything cooked to order. The sit in restaurant across the road super. We took our visitors with us couple of weeks ago, they were well impressed with everything especially the portions of beautiful cod in batter, chips,mushy peas. They also offer healthy option without batter. We travel 25 mile return trip home to go here, and worth every mile.

Run by a close-knit family, this restaurant and take away are my go to for fish and chips. All fried fresh to order. This place has bags of character, especially the owners Paul and Gabby. Staff are second to none.

Totally loved this cafe. This was our first time in belfast and we both were craving fish and chips. Totally spoiled by the attention of the staff who couldnt be nicer. We asked if the oil that was used to fry fish was the same for other meat and we were assured they fry their meat seperately. They even used new oil especially for our fish and chips. The fish and chips were fantastic portions and tasted delicious and very reasonable pricing. We loved the quirky paintings and the one woman in taxi with chips was my favourite lol.Fantastic experience all round. 10 out of 10.

I have found this place accidentally and was impressed since I walked in. Very clean, pleasant and friendly staff who greeted me and offered a drink and a menu, with specials on it. The owner of the cafe is a charming lady who not only made fish and chips, but also came and chatted to me. The place is always busy and the food is freshly cooked, within few minutes and they also sell real bottles of coca cola, glass ones and not the plastic ones! This place is one of my favourites to eat, as they do various dishes and brighten peoples day with exceptional customer service and attention to detail from the owner and the team.Thank you for the wonderful food. Looking forward to be back soon.

Little store on Lisbourn road with great fish and chips. The proportion was great (meal) and the price was reasonable (~7.5£) for this meal with 500ml coke. It seems though not so clean and employees were a bit rude or let's say not smiling at all

This is a fantastic place to go for fish and chips , not to forget about the rest of the menu though.The Cod and chips were cooked to perfection and washed down with a good cup of tea. We travel 34 miles round trip twice a month to eat Cod and Chips as it should be. The staff are very friendly and always make you feel welcome

Family visited here for our evening meal in october 2016. Wow what can i say it was delicious. Couldnt fault it at all. Even the service was polite, and couldnt do enough for you. Struggle to put into words how highly i recomend this place. 10/10 . Will surely visit again when visiting Belfast again .

Would have to say this is definitely nicest fish and chips i have ever had. Lovely surroundings. Plenty of room. Staff so helpful and friendly. Staff very friendly. I am not a great fish eater, so opted for a fish bites supper, and had four really good sizes pieces of fish with excellent crispy batter and lovely fresh chips.

Hi allThe picture says it all fish crispy and fresh chips slightly under done for me but as you can see not many left. Curry not too hot and peas delicious pick of brown or white bread, service excellent and a bit of a chit chat from the boss all in all a well spent 40 mins. Good food clean tidy surroundings and a great view. Go and try it.

Been to cafe fish a couple of times now and is by far the nicest fish and chips I've had,the cafe is very welcoming,the menu isn't big but has all you need.the fish is cooked to perfection along with the chips are delicious and the gravy has a nice kick to it,all in all highly recommended.

Easy cozy restuarant. Visited on our first evening in Belfast for a casual dinner. The staff was very friendly and the fish and chips were fabulous. I ordered the fish bites thinking it would be a smaller portion....I was so wrong! It was a huge portion of fish and chips. I have no regrets ordering it though because it was so fresh. Great value and wonderful experience.

We came around closing time to that lovely place but the staff were in no hurry at all. They served us an extra large portion of delicious fish bites! We had an excellent meal and an even better time.

My Girlfriend and I stopped into Cafe Fish for a quick bite before heading home one evening last week and were quickly greeted by a friendly member of staff, who seated us promptly. The menu was small but still very eye catching and we both ordered a Haddock supper with a helping of curry sauce. Both our meals were delicious and very satisfying. The haddock was fresh, succulent and competently cooked with a light and crispy batter and the curry sauce had just the right amount of spice to complement the very tasty chips. The service was quick and efficient with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. Overall a very pleasant and value for money dining experience.
