Oh my goodness, what a find! Such kind, attentive and courteous service offered by both ladies. This was my first time here, having been brought out to lunch. Everything gets 12/10, and the way they handled my walnut allergy deserves a 20/10. What awesome people, working hard to look after their customers, and offering outstanding service!! It was worth every driven mile over from Heathrow, and I’d do it again to have such friendly service. Wishing you nothing but continued success, health and happiness 🙏

Cafe De Ville hosted a chef takeover supper club evening, Masterchef finalist Tom Whitaker took over the kitchen for the evening a produced some fantastic food. The meal consisted of 4 courses: -Smoked mussel and artichoke pizzetta with fresh burrata. This delectable dish combines the rustic charm of a traditional pizzetta with the sophistication of premium ingredients, resulting in a flavor profile that is both complex and utterly satisfying. -Ash baked celeriac, truffle butter, white endive. At first glance, the presentation is rustic yet refined, with the celeriac taking center stage. The aroma of wood smoke intermingles with the delicate scent of truffle, inviting anticipation for the culinary experience ahead. Upon the first forkful, the tender flesh of the celeriac yields effortlessly, revealing its rich, earthy flavor heightened by the subtle smokiness imparted by the ash-baking technique. The truffle butter adds a luxurious creaminess that envelops each bite, elevating the dish to new heights of indulgence. -Wood Fired Pork Belly, charcoal cauliflower, XO sauce. The star of the show, the wood-fired pork belly, arrives beautifully charred on the outside, boasting a tantalizing aroma that instantly whets the appetite. Cutting into it reveals succulent layers of meat, each bite bursting with rich, smoky flavor that perfectly balances the tender juiciness within. Accompanying the pork belly is the charcoal cauliflower, a unique twist that elevates the dish to new heights. The cauliflower's charred edges provide a delightful crunch, while its tender center absorbs the smokiness from the wood fire, creating a harmonious contrast of textures. Completing the ensemble is the XO sauce, a bold condiment that adds a punch of flavor to every bite. Its umami-rich profile enhances the savory notes of the pork belly, while its subtle heat lingers on the palate, leaving a satisfying warmth with each mouthful. -Chocolate orange mousse with toasted brioche, Figs, and Cocoa. Upon first glance, the dish presents itself as a picturesque masterpiece. The velvety smoothness of the chocolate orange mousse glistens under the gentle glow of ambient lighting, inviting you to indulge in its rich decadence. Accompanied by toasted brioche, the contrast of the crispy exterior and the soft, pillowy interior adds a delightful crunch that complements the creamy mousse perfectly. The addition of fresh figs lends a subtle sweetness and a delightful juiciness, elevating the dish to new heights. Their natural sweetness balances the richness of the mousse and adds a delightful contrast of textures. If you find yourself in a situation where you can book into one of these limited evenings you should!

This is a quaint little spot with decent food. It is definitely flavored for the taste of the English - a little sweet in the sauces and few spices. The pizza is the star of the show with a delicious crust! There was no one there besides us as patrons of the restaurant but the service was pretty good.

We have visited Roots on a regular basis since we moved to Horsell three and a half years ago. We have always had excellent food and service, so we were sorry to discover that they are closing due to a huge increase in rates. We shall miss our visits and the delicious food.

It's a couple of years since we last went to Bel Vedere. It was always a very good place to go but this visit was truly exceptional. Superb, unhurried but efficient and friendly service despite how busy it was on Valentine's Night. The food was absolutely excellent - well presented but not pretentious. And the wine we chose was very good value for money and something I will be getting a case of. Well done to the owners and staff of Bel Vedere and thank you for an excellent evening.

We’ve been coming here as a family for over 20 years now. At first, this was a thriving place and it was easy to see why. The food was fresh and delicious, the place was warm, inviting with so much atmosphere. The owner was so welcoming and the waiters were full of life, cracking jokes and really entertaining people. Now, sadly, customers seem to be an inconvenience at this restaurant. The waiters barely greet you when you arrive in. The first thing that meets your eye is the pizza chef slumped over his counter on his phone. The restaurant was absolutely freezing. Apparently the heaters were not working - no apologies when we walked in though, our whole party put coats on and when I asked about heat they said that the repair man didn’t turn up. I wonder why they didn’t use temporary heaters though? It’s indicative of how much they care about their customers. Menus are flimsy, old and dirty. Specials were the same specials from when we were last there months ago! Food was bland, my main dish lukewarm. Each time we wanted more drinks we had to ask. Crazy because the restaurant wasn’t busy. Nobody came to refill the wine. Mains took a lifetime to come out - made worse because we were all so cold. A free hot drink to warm us up wouldn’t have gone amiss but I feel the staff were just watching us to see when we would be leaving… I hate paying good money to feel like an inconvenience and will be happy to take my custom elsewhere now
