Cafe de Fred is just down the road from my son’s school so I visit often with my two children. The owner and head chef (Fred) is a super friendly and charming individual and always has a smile on his face, regardless of the day he’s having :) The coffee is great quality, the wide choice of food is all cooked from scratch by Fred himself (including the gorgeous tarts and cakes - I’d recommend the tarte au citron)) and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming (and fabulously “old-school“). My son loves going in there for his weekly pain-au-chocolat and to look at the giant map of the world which pretty much takes up a whole wall! Obviously we can’t sit inside at the moment but Fred has made the cafe COVID-compliant and is still a lovely place to pick up a takeaway coffee and croissant, plus I think it’s so important to support small businesses at this time. See you in there!

We ate breakfast here and were very impressed with everything - the food, the quality, the service, the care, the cleanliness - all at reasonable prices. Family run i think. I’m a very fussy person usually but even I couldn’t fault this place. We’re from the midlands and found it a bit difficult to find a ‘normal cafe’ that wasn’t solely focused on the trend of catering for vegans and vegetarians. We had a full English breakfast that came with perfect hot buttered white toast (I see brown is available too), the best we’ve ever had at a cafe. Amazing. We’ll be coming back here next time we’re in London!

Cafe de Fred is one of my all-time favorite restaurants and that isn't something I say lightly. An absolute MUST when I visit London. I first encountered the cafe about two years ago; I was tired, hungry, and looking for a place to sit and regroup. I was expecting a faux French cafe with sub-par food based on the name. The restaurant does have some classic French items on the menu, but what is forever etched in my mind is the epic English Breakfast. Truly, it's the stuff dreams are made of. Fred's English Breakfast is exactly what it should be - unpretentious, hearty, and warms the soul. I have eaten there several times and each time, I have noticed that working-class Londoners are enjoying their breakfast along with me. You really can't ask for a better review than that. Another menu item of note is their flat white. We had ours made by a German waitress at each visit. I cannot attest to coffee made by anyone else but if she is still there, seek her out. Her flat white is worth a tube ride across town. Seriously. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path and by American standards, is a bit of a "hole in the wall". Not a bad thing, though. Waitstaff is great and Fred has been ever-present at all of our visits. I have considered posting a review for some time, but have always decided against it because I want it to stay small and intimate, a place I can always walk into and find a table. I have now decided that I would rather it become popular and overcrowded than shut down. Even if there is a line outside the door at my next visit, it will be worth the wait. I cannot attest to any other items on the menu, as I have only had the English Breakfast. Why would you order anything else when you've found perfection?

I was lucky enough to be visiting London a few weeks ago for business reasons. On Saturday morning, my husband and I were on our way to the London Olympia to take part in a large 2 day event. We did not have time for a relaxed breakfast at our hotel, so we decided to find somewhere to grab a breakfast roll. After checking the 'Around Me' app on our phone, we spotted the Cafe de Fred, and so decided to go there. I am so glad we did. It was early (before 9am) and the cafe was warm and cosy looking. We were greeted by Fred (?) and shown the menu, and and it was no problem to ask questions about vegan & vegetarian options. We did not have to wait long, when we were presented with 2 large breakfast sandwiches, and 2 cups of tea. It all cost less than £7.50 (we were expecting crazy London prices). It was a beautiful crisp morning, so took our hot goods to the nearby Holland Park and enjoyed our breakfast al fresco.I would recommend this cafe based on the friendly, fast & professional way were were treated. We would have loved to have been able to sit in & order the full veggie/vegan breakfast, but it was not possible due to our busy day. Other meaty options were available!Overall, it was a great start to our day. Thank you.

I came in here with my elderly Father and ordered an omelette with salad for myself and poached egg (s) on toast for my Father with is his staple food when we are out. The omelette was a little on the small side compared to other cafes but was excellent with plenty of filling and the salad was fresh and nicely dressed and served with 2 slices of toast. At £6 I thought the omelette was a little expensive but this is not a cheap area so fair enough. What I was surprised about was the poached egg. In every other café I can think of you get 2 poached eggs on 2 toast. Here my Father just got 1 poached egg on 1 slice of ordinary cheap white bread - such a small portion that I passed over some of my omelette. What amazed me that the cost of this one small poached egg on 1 slice of toast was £4.50!! I queried this with the owner who very firmly but politely explained that this is a very pricey area. This may be the case but no more pricey than say South Kensington or Fitzrovia where you can get similar food far more cheaply. Even here you can get a Full English Breakfast with a hot drink for £5.50 - £6 so I did feel just a bit ripped off which is a shame as in other respects this is a very nice café and unique as far as I know in this area.

Fred's all day veggie breakfast is my secret weapon hangover cure - eggs (scrambled in my case), beans, two toast, veggie sausage (could use a better type if there's one criticism), potato cake but what sets it apart are using fresh mushrooms and tomato not tinned and the large slice.of avocado which is a nice and refreshing touch. Not greasy but not worthy either. Just what the doctor ordered. Both sandwiches were very nice with lots of filling and it made a real difference to have a freshly made sandwich in Kensington. Service was great at the exception of the advice she gave us to order the daily special : the cottage pie. The pie was good but the side vegetables like frozen overcooked food. On the opposite the Fred's breakfast was a perfect English breakfast with everything tasty and served with nicely buttered toast! I nearly wanted to miss our hotel breakfast to go to Fred again!

had an excellent fish pie - always watch the specials. Rare to get a good home made fish pie in a small cafe like this - or in most other places. Warm welcome, newspapers, loo and a great map of the world on the wall.

We were greeted warmly upon our arrival and felt very welcome right away. The breakfast was delicious - the black pudding and sausage both being very flavoursome. Coffee was very good too. The value for money and all-round friendly and welcoming host means I cannot recommend this place highly enough! If we are back in the area again we will most definitely pay another visit.

Assolutamente consigliato.

This wonderful cafe is located right around the corner from my home and office. I never gave it a try since it's very small and there's always a lot of people. I have only had breakfast for which I had an omelette and my colleague had some poached egg dish on toast. Fred actually does all the cooking, serving, etc...very warm and friendly place!

I've been a regular customer of Fred's for 4 years now. Despite moving around to live in different areas in London, I keep coming back to Earl's Court to eat here as I haven't managed to find such a quality café elsewhere. The English Breakfast is arguably one of the best in London and the value for money is great, especially with the free Wifi. The best thing about this place though is how genuine it is. Unlike the Starbucks' and all the other vapid chains in London, you're not treated as a number here, but as a person, and that makes all the difference in the world!

Stopped for a quick lunch, service was efficient, however staff are probably encouraged to turn customers over quickly.Luke warm cans of Diet coke at £2.20 each, 2 Cheese and Ham toasties (which were tasteless) and thank you for £21.....Avoid if at all possible, unless desperate....

The perfect find when we were fresh from the airport at 7:00am and needing an omelet and a cup of coffee. Fred's is clean and the breakfast is good. They also do smoothies and fresh orange juice.

Nice friendly staff I had a Latè and bacon sandwich, Latè was lovely just perfect, bacon sandwich was ok but could of cut the bacon just to stop it coming out in 1 bite. Am I being a bit fussy maybe but it a little thing that would make it a 5 star review.

I came here more than a year ago and was disappointed with my sandwich so this time had an omlette with onions and mushrooms served with a hash brown and toast. The omlette was excellent quality although the hash brown was rather small and probably from frozen. They do a decent pot of tea here as well. Service is friendly and efficient. One star deducted as this pace is pricey.

Staying in the Premier Inn up the road and not wanting to paying for their underwhelming breakfast, set off up the road and discovered this nice little cafe. Great choice of freshly cooked breakfasts on offer and the freshly squeezed orange juice was lovely. Looked like they had a fine lunch selection too. Judging by the friendly exchanges of the owner with the locals who passed by, this is clearly a well respected eatery locally and I can see why.

I visited this place while i was shopping in the area, I am a chef by trade so naturally i know my stuff.I have never seen a eaterie so unclean with poor practice. the Cleanliness levels are terrible. i wouldn't be surpised if the staff in this outlet have minimal training. the coths which where used to clean the table have seen there day, it looks like they haven't changed them in years. i watched the staff for over a hour and they did not wash the hands once.the areas for food prep and dining are not cleaned properly sanitizing only and not cleaning first.i found the man i believed to be fred, he seemed ok but i overheard him making rude remarks about the french which is appauling. This place is a death trap avoid if you value your heath.

An oasis in the desert of Earls Court Road.I found Cafe de Fred on the internet as a place to stop for lunch on a visit to London Town. Although covered in scaffolding, they are still open for business and they appear to have stood the test of time and remain a Cafe! Fred and his team welcomed us on Saturday for a late lunch time snack and after serving the Tea and Water, made up the sandwiches we chose from the blackbord menu above the counter even though were sliightly different from anything listed but this not seem to be a problem and they were promptly served and ate with gusto. We left totally refreshed and went on our looking forward to seeing fred and his team in the future.
