Great freshly cooked breakfast x2, really tasty. It's a noisy room, wooden floors, when the boiler is operating, you cannot hear yourself speak. The chairs could do with some sort of cushioning material on the base of the legs. But as I say the food was top quality and at a really reasonable price.

Absolutely love this little place! I was recently taken here and have been back several times already - it is now my go-to place for breakfast or snack when out. The staff are so friendly and polite. No, it's not "fancy" which other establishments are, however, you know exactly what you are getting and it is great value.

It's a cafe attached to the control tower at what was HMS Daedalus Airfield at Lee on the Solent. Named after the end of the runway beside which it sits. Basic cafe food. Burgers, wraps, chips, coffee and cake etc. Reasonable prices. Car park with disables person places. Reasonably accessible. Great for plane spotters of all ages. You can even fly in if you are lucky enough. I loved it.

On a very sunny, hot, busy July day in the summer holidays, the team were working fantastically hard. It had to be stressful but all were kind, polite and happy to help. Food was exactly as described, at a reasonable price. Portion size not crazy (as is too often the case). I enjoyed my veggie breakfast, and mum enjoyed her jacket potato. Recommended.

Lovely food down at the cafe today, only a 3 for the atmosphere though as one of the Solent crew members bought his dog inside. Rather than keep it on a lead, he allowed it to wander around while he was chatting to his friends. I am a dog owner and he was a lovely dog but the staff allowed him into the kitchen where he had his nose in the cleaning cloths and the food was being prepared. He was also encouraged to put his paws up on the counter where there was open pastries. Not very hygienic at all. Such a let down today

First visit today off the recommendation of my partner. Lots of parking. A decent number of tables and lots of space. The latte coffee was nice but finished quickly, as it was only warm. I ordered the sausage bap at £4.50, which was tasty. A large bap and two nicely cooked sausages. My only food complaint was the sachets of brown sauce. Not nice. My partner ordered the breakfast, which he thoroughly enjoyed at £7ish, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, scrambled egg, toast and beans. I was curious why they didn't offer hash browns, and staff said they weren't allowed a frier. Surprising, as I would put them in an oven? I personally found the menu quite limited for someone who doesn't eat cheese, bacon, or eggs. I wanted something hot, but not much to choose from if you have any food intolerances. There also really isn't any atmosphere, to be honest. Ok I guess, if you want to sit up at the back window and look at the planes, but that's not very comfy for eating. It's possibly better during the summer if you can sit outside? So, the lack of 5 stars is due to the lack of choice in my case. Others may be very happy with the menu. The lack of character or atmosphere, and the coffee temperature. Having said that, the place is scrupulously clean, the chairs are really comfortable and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go back for coffee, but would be sure to ask for extra hot next time.

Bacon roll (£4.50p) was "nice" but a bit sparse with only two small rashers, sausage bap (£4.50p two sausages) it was ok...coffees good. On our morning of visiting it was very busy with a packed cafe causing it to be very hot and stuffy inside even with the windows open. Now for the 5 star location if you like getting up personal with aviation especially the iconic Spitfire then go and visit (it's free) you are that close to the beautiful plane (when it's not in the air) you could nearly touch it. Staff friendly and efficient, would return.

Was brought there by a relative when visiting the area. Weather wasn't great but we sat outside as that's where you can see the planes. I like the concept of the cafe as it's fun seeing the planes take off and land. It was quite busy when we were there just before lunchtime. You order the food at the counter indoors and the bring it out and call out your number and you collect it from the staff. Food was average and a tad pricey for what you get. We had 2 chicken fillet burgers and a breakfast barm with some drinks. The fillets, though nice and crisp, were smaller than the size of the barm so we got a few bites of plain bread! And the chips were skinny rather than chunky chips and portion wasn't great. The fillet burgers cost £6.95 and breakfast barm £5.00. Overall a nice place to go to for the novelty factor but the food is nothing to shout about based on my experience.

Thought I would give this place a try yesterday. Arrived at 12 noon yes there were a few people in the cafe. We were at the counter waiting for our order to be taken there was a big queue forming behind us going out of the door .One member of staff behind the counter was making a hot chocolate didn’t even acknowledge we were there, Then another member of staff arrived behind the counter saw the queue and just continued to stack clean cups. Then another member of staff appeared to wipe/sanitize the tables. Not one member of staff even acknowledged we were there!!. In the end we just walked out and went somewhere else. So I can’t rate the food or drink as we didn’t get to try it. I come from a customer service background and one of the first things we were taught is, even if you are busy acknowledge the customer is there explain either sorry for the wait or I will be with you as quick as I can, something not just ignore the queue and carry on . Shame as I had heard good things about this place.

Enjoyed a pleasant lunch with father. Good value. Coffee very drinkable. Food good. Nice to have the planes to look at but a shame that the windows are so high. We thought we’d stop here for coffee and opted for a bacon bap as well. Bill came to £10.40 which is high for OK food. Brown bap not available and cappuccino coffee very milky and a bit tasteless. There is a pervasive smell of fat from the fryer so it’s probably best to eat outside if it’s warm enough. Obviously what makes the cafe different is the view of the airfield with numerous takeoffs and landings on a Sunday. If it wasn’t next to the planes I’d be giving it a poor rating.

I have had a few people tell me to visit this place now and I don’t know why I took so long to actually pop in. It is set within the airfield and has plenty of parking. It was the nice weather that finally tipped it and we decided to drive over. Primarily we just went for coffee and cake but a few plane take-offs/landings later we stayed for lunch too. Plenty of benches outside to sit on and take in the surroundings.Homemade cake, coffee, hot chocloate, panini, bacon roll, chips, kids meal. Couldn’t fault any of it, lovely. Didn’t bust my wallet too much either. We were only going to stay as long as the 2 year old was content, and in the end we had to pull him away from the place. He absolutely loved watching the planes. There is a small wooden plane for the kids to play in and they were all happily taking turns to ‘fly’ it. Makes a change from the usual cafe experience, fantastic location. We were there for about 2 hours in total and saw at least 5 take-offs.Will 100% be back.

This review is, in fact, the culmination of many visits to my local airport. The cafe has evolved from an outside trailer into an indoor business with an additional attractive outdoor seating area. The interior is nicely laid out and spotlessly clean. A varied menu offers plenty of choice without promoting inadvertent food waste and there are frequently specials. The food is fresh and delicious. The owner always has a word for regulars even when busy which is a lot of the time and a smile for everybody. She works methodically in the kitchen to produce fresh, hot and accurately delivered meals in wait times which are commendably short even at the busiest times. Staff are carefully chosen and of high calibre, supporting the owner at this increasingly successful venue.
