Absolutely stunning Cafe and very dog friendly xxx - best (outstanding) coffee we've had so far - Scones exceptional - staff are fabulous - we would highly recommend a visit to Whinlatter forest and food in Cafe Ambio.

Really delicious food with a good range of options on the menu. Absolutely loved my houmous flatbread, and came back later to try the cake. So many lush options! Service was fine.

Due to late breakfast only had drinks and chips for a little treat otherwise I would have had the lamb burger. Friendly service and for a tourist hot-spot reasonably priced.

The staff here were really friendly and brought the food to our table. Our soup was delicious with freshly cooked chips. There was a spacious outdoor area for eating and having a picnic. Reading some reviews, yes it’s not cheap. This is the Lake District and everything is expensive. Really nice clean toilets as well so great value. Well worth a visit

Decided not to take a picnic on our recent trip to Grizedale and eat in the cafe instead. £46 for 2 hot dogs, 2 kids picnic boxes, a cup of tea and can of pop. Very overpriced for a captive audience. The sausages were absolutely lovely, but served in too small, stale rolls. The kids rolls were also stale. They then wanted an ice cream and I was told we had to join the main cafe queue, which was long and slow, rather than order from the ice cream counter where there were no customers.

Brilliant cafe, super service and great food cooked to order. Something for everyone - even coeliacs! Super impressed by how much care the staff took of us given coeliac needs, will be back here often

Great lunch, but oh my word the cherry scone, jam and cream I brought home was the best scone I’ve ever eaten. It was delicious and worthy of a trip there just to have that. 10/10

Lovely food, the service was prompt and friendly, and everything was exactly as we ordered. Prices were reasonable too. Would definitely go again.

If you walk in and there are more than three people already in the queue you will be better off walking back out again. The speed of service is glacial. Food and drink is pretty good when you get it, but they also messed up the coffee order (there were only two coffees on the order), so that needed re-doing (another 2-3 minute wait). Yes it was a busy Sunday, but they were not understaffed - they were just poorly organised and slow full stop.

Visited the cafe at Grizedale last week after a trip to go ape. Not been to Grizedale for a few years and what an improvement. The hotdog was incredible. Not the cheapest but well worth the money! Can’t wait to visit again.

2 Cold coffees and over sweet dry cakes, for an extortion £15!! They have a captive audio but honestly don’t waste your money.

The location and design of the cafe is excellent and the menu is fine. It’s a pity the service did not live up to the surroundings. It took over 20 minutes to get four soups and a kids box.

Have spent a couple of hours exploring Grizedale Forest trails, we stopped at the cafe in the visitors centre - Cafe Ambrio. This is a dog friendly place to eat with both inside and outside eating. Menu has good choice however my wife and I both selected the daily special and were not disappointed. Hot pork roll with stuffing, crackling, apple sauce, chips and gravy. This cafe is a great stop after a short or long walk around the forest.

Unimpressed with the customer service at the old bake house at Arnside this morning.. my hot food arrived well after everyone who came in after me had finished… disappointing.

Such a shame to be writing this review as this pub could be a classic Lake District country pub. Unfortunately the food is terrible! The chicken burger was full of what I presume was gristle but could have been bits of bone, undercooked and pink inside. Completely inedible. The lamb Henry was all fat and inedible too. Will never visit again and recommend you go elsewhere.

We were a large party of 12 but unfortunately no-one can book a table on a Sunday! This is rare these days as people like to plan their mel times. We knew this is advance as we had been before. We waited for a short while and then the table was ready. This wasn't 1 table but we were spread across 3 separate tables which couldn't be put together and some had to sit elsewhere. This happened last time and this time we thought they would only allocate eating when it was ready for the whole party. Most went for the carvery. The vegetables were very good and the turkey really moist but the beef was so tough that you really needed a steak knife to cut through it. Overall a disappointing experience based upon the service, food quality and price/value for money.
