Absolutely great place, walked in at 5pm on a Tuesday and they had stopped serving food at 4pm, they turned ovens back on and we had scampi and fish finger sandwich. Food was delicious, nothing was too much trouble I would recommend the place to anyone, go and check it out, 5 * thank you for your service.

Walking past on our way for a coffee and saw this place, popped in for lunch (both had fish finger sandwiches) and were pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious, service prompt and friendly and the music fab - won’t walk past next time :)

Absolutely FREEZING. Everyone had to keep their coats on the whole time. Every single person in the place had coats on. Not pleasant. Couldn’t wait to leave although we did enjoy the food. Would come back if they put the heating on 🥶

Posting on hubbies name but I came in today was greeted by friendly staff who saw I was disabled and took great care of me giving me table service so I didn't have to get up and down. Very comfortable surroundings I will definitely return

I understand opinions are subjective but I have only ever experienced wonderful service and very decent food whenever I have visited for lunch. The menu isn't the most extensive but the food is of a good quality and has always been hot and tasty. The service too has always been without fault; friendly, attentive and accommodating. The only real negative is that it's unfortunately usually very quiet and so there isn't usually much of an atmosphere, although it helps when music is played. Overall this is absolutely one of the better places to eat in the centre of Sunderland.

Harry and the team were more than accommodating, the decor is brilliant. Well worth calling in if you’re about.

Food was cold and vegetables were raw, never seen boiling water or steam. I had to give one star as no option to be negative. I will never return and staff don’t care, I did not eat anything and my husband who eats everything said it was shocking and he is a chef

Called in on the way to gym to ask if they still sell the multi herb tea, which they had about 4 years ago. Seemed to be very confused as to my question?? Finally pulled out a menu in a stressed state.

It was alright and had a decent loaded fries, not really my thing though, a bit too loud and beer not very good. Staff friendly and helpful though, and one of the few places to eat which weren't booked up after the combined match and matinee kick out early evening in Sunlun.

i was absolutely disgusted by the service of this cafe. we were already in a rush and so we ordered asap. they told us it was a 30 min wait and that was fine however it came to that time and told us they didn’t have chicken and only offered our drinks for free after the wait. i will never be back at the place again.

Really good for cocktail’s and friendly atmosphere. Good selection of beers ( no Guinness unfortunately) just a personal preference. Great place though 🥳

A bit dark and empty inside but a pleasant welcome from the staff when we went to lunch. Large glasses of white wine were quite expensive compared to other outlets. We asked for ciabatta bread bun rather than the brioche bun supplied for a chicken burger. The staff were very obliging. Strangely there wasn't a beef burger on offer only a lamb burger with a lamb pate?, rather odd. My order of roast beef in ciabatta was fine but the chips were variable in size with some small ones a bit sharp and the gravy made the bread soggy. The salad on both meals was fine. The French mustard we asked for was in fact four sachets of English mustard. Generous but not what we asked for. Total cost around £40 for two. We later read the menus in Yates wine lodge and would have paid about £30 for a very similar meal with the same wine. Two large glasses of wine cost us £15 at Café 1851 and £12 at Yates. Go compare.

Stumbled on this establishment on way to the match-went in -greeted by friendly welcoming staff-sat outside in the North East sunshine ( well it is April) and enjoyed a relaxing espresso or two ..next time will try food which looked great .What stood out was the friendliness of the place ( wouldn’t normally review on drinks alone but the service/decor/ made me want to return )
