Awesome boozy brunch 😋. Delicious food and cocktails served well with attention and smiles and very helpful. Great atmosphere.

Great selection on the menu. Kids menu could be a bit more varied, and 1 sausage on the sausage beans and toast option is a bit tight. French toast was lovely but the salad dusted with sugar on the top was a no from me. Cakes were absolutely divine and a great selection.

This is by far the best breakfast I’ve ever had! Everything was locally sourced, fresh and tasted amazing. The black pudding was the best black pudding I have had! Staff are friendly.

The service is amazing from the moment you arrive. Ordered two large veggie breakfasts and one pancakes with fresh fruit and syrup to share. Great fresh coffee. It was so good. Compliments to the chef. You always receive a warm welcome. One of our favourite places to eat. Thank you to all the staff.

We as a family highly recommend cafe 1496 in Forres! Whether it's for coffee, breakfast, lunch, or their themed nights, the service is consistently friendly, welcoming, and professional. Our boys love the fantastic milkshakes and homemade pancakes with extra syrup. Personally, I enjoy their perfectly made hazelnut cappuccino and find the breakfast burrito delightful. Lately, I've been drawn to the Steak and halloumi salad, which is a delicious blend of flavours. A big thank you to the 1496 team for years of exceptional hospitality!

We arrived in Forres for a look around and found this gem of a place just in time for lunch. we were greeted by friendly staff in a very very busy place and shown to a lovely table by the window. We had hot sandwiches and cold drinks and everything arrived quickly and tasted delicious. The array of cakes on offer looked very tempting too but we will have to come back for those another time!!

This was my first visit to the Cafe 1496 on the recommendation of my better half, and the recommendation was fully justified. A pleasingly different menu of light lunches and hot/cold drinks, friendly quick service, and most importantly a very enjoyable lunch. Recommended

Epic!! Will definitely be back! Mum and I had the eggs Benedict’s, mins with bacon and mum with the black pudding, and they were interchangeable so had half each. outstanding and very tasty. I would advise people to book as they were extremely busy and we were lucky to get a walk-in table at 1pm

Great service, lovely atmosphere and tasty Cullen skink :-) amazing selection of cakes and reasonably priced. The comfiest seats I have sat on in Scotland too! 👌🏼

Really welcoming staff, as i’m new to the area I was unsure of where to go for breakfast but found this place on here actually, and didn’t disappoint. I had “the big one” breakfast, was gorgeous. Coffee great too. Will visit again.

Great cafe and pooch friendly…her nibs even squeezed in a mimosa at 1100!!! There’s a park round the back of the CoOp with ample parking a shop walk away.

Great food, with excellent staff, highly recommend. Cafe decor lovely, however the walk to toilet not so good, quite shabby looking.

Our group of four and a dog came for brunch and had the loveliest time. Our server Margery was super friendly and she made a fuss of our dog which made us all smile 🥰 The food was absolutely gorgeous and in general, the vibe and atmosphere of the cafe was just so nice. Would recommend to everyone to visit. Really really nice staff, food, drinks and atmosphere. So glad we stumbled across this place during our holiday!!!

This is an outstanding venue for food . The ambiance , food and staff are outstandingly great. There are too many good things to say about 1496. Highly recommended and cannot wait to return . An abso!ute essential visit in Moray. Thank you. I would book if you are going to visit as it is always busy.

We went in for a late lunch and were very happy with the quality of the food and service. There was a good selection of food on the menu at affordable prices.

Really enjoyed the soup of the day. We were lucky to have sweet potato coconut and lime. It was really busy and we were a group of 5. Definitely make a reservation!

We visited this excellent cafe on a very wet afternoon, along with a rather bedraggled dog. The young person who served us could not have been nicer and brought a towel to dry off the dog as well as a dog biscuit ..such great service. The coffee and cakes we enjoyed were first rate. Well done

My husband and I went here yesterday my husband ordered a bacon and egg roll he got an egg roll only. The server asked if we wanted any sauce i said tomato my husband asked for brown sauce only got the brown sauce. If the server had written down the order my husband might have got the bacon he asked for . If the music wasn't so loud they might of heard what we said.

Wait staff person didn’t smile, made little eye contact, and generally acted unwelcoming and mostly disinterested in serving me. When ordering, I specifically pointed to the item I wanted and read what was included on it, to avoid confusion over a similar item. I received the item I didn’t want, which included bacon, and I don’t eat meat. I found the wait person and told her I was given the wrong order. The wait person said that I had ordered the one given. When I told her, no, I had ordered the other item and that I had read to her the description for it, she kind of grunted and said okay, and she would get the other one. No apology ever given. When I finally got the correct item, it had just a few berries (menu stated berry compote) and I had to ask for syrup, which the menu states comes with the item. On a previous day I had received friendly and welcoming service at this cafe.

I was served the skinniest, smallest slice of Black Forest cake I’ve ever seen. Plus it wasn’t fresh and the cream was stale. It looked like they’d sliced the last piece of an old cake in two so they could sell two slices of it. Very disappointed as we were there to celebrate a birthday. Other pieces of cake were also very insubstantial . Why such stinginess?

Went in looking to eat in for a small lunch with friends. First off all we were barged past whilst entering the front door by a female staff member who did not seem to have any mannerism which we did not appreciate. Later she came back with the same rude mannerism, we were asked if we had a booking to which we responded no, the lady proceeded to let out what could only be described as a huff. She responded as she walked away, shrugged her shoulders and as a passing comment as she walked away said without a booking she can’t seat us. Disappointed in the service we received today as we felt embarrassed as it’s usually a lovely place to eat. Understandable that you need to book but the rude mannerism isn’t something you’d want to see in a work place.

I can hands down say that you’ll never have tasted anything as good as the breakfast burrito! Absolutely delicious and packed full of flavour

Really lovely food and setting. Felt entirely comfortable and welcome as a solo. Fantastic service and food.
