1st time visiting Caesars@theMinster, came with friends who have been here a lot. Food was great, atmosphere awesome and the staff super friendly. I will definitely be back for a repeat of this, thanks to all.

We went here because very late there are few options in York. It has a good variety of pizzas and pastas. The environment is very nice and clean and the service is very good. As for the food, which is the most important thing, it is not the best Italian food. To start, I asked for a recommendation and they would bring me some linguine ai gamberoni and they brought me another dish without warning. Finally I had gamberoni provinciali, and it wasn't very good, the prawns were delicious, but the rice was a point less than al dente (hard) and the sauce was nothing to write home about. Another person who went with me ordered gnocchi quattro formaggi and it wasn't very good either. For the rest, everything was very good. The people were super warm.

We went on a Saturday night and were lucky enough to be seated in their small upstairs dining area, which we found to be a lot quieter than downstairs. The staff was friendly, the food was great. Everything was priced fairly, but the alcoholic drinks were a bit pricey. (I assume they do this so people do not consume large amounts of alcohol during their stay there). We would definitely go again!!

Had dinner here and both the food and the staff were excellent! Really friendly service and very efficient. And the food was delicious and really well presented. Would definitely return.

My partner and I visited Caesars after it was recommended by someone who lives locally. We were not disappointed! The food was beautiful and the staff were absolutely fantastic. They were very attentive and friendly throughout. We shall definitely be coming back next time we are in York. Thank you for a lovely meal!

We’ve been to caesars a handful of times now and it’s always a fantastic experience. The food is 10/10 every dish we’ve tried has been fantastic. The service is incredible too the staff are attentive and friendly and personal. We travel over a hour to go and we’d recommend it to anyone.

Good food although a little more expensive than the average & don't like the service charge. Friendly staff & nice surroundings.

Food was mid at best. Service very poor. Took at least 15-20 minutes before server took any drinks or food orders. Waited 50-60 minutes for the food and we ordered was pizzas

Authentic Italian restaurants are hard to find in the UK. Ceasers was the most pleasant suprise in a wonderful location. If you're visiting York this restaurant is a must visit! Excellent food and service.

Lovely place. Had some lunch today and loved all of it! Staff was friendly and the place had great atmosphere with lovely music! The garlic bread tomato was had very balanced tomato taste thin and crispy! Just perfect.

The food was a bit pricey but very delicious! The staff who looked after us were so lovely and attentive!

Honest and good food. Vibrant place, suitable for a family meal. The only downside was service and lack of interest from the staff, we have been waiting almost 15 minutes to order desserts and felt neglected decided to eat it somewhere else.

Me and my husband visited a few weeks ago. Service not good. Food just ok. Had spaghetti bol. Hardly any meat in meal. We asked for a dessert menu 3 times-they ignored us each time. Eventually we got up and went to pay. They never asked if everything was OK. Then they charged up 7 pounds for service! Felt very uncomfortable. Would not recommend.

We organized a Christmas dinner at Ceasars with my students, an international group from different countries, over the weekend, and it was absolutely fantastic! Although the restaurant was quite busy, and the staff took great care of us. Among my students, there were those with gluten-free and vegan dietary requirements, and every single order was prepared and served with such care, precision, and efficiency. I want to extend my special thanks to the staff for their outstanding service despite the crowd. The food was simply amazing! Everyone was delighted. Ceasars is undoubtedly the go-to place in York for delicious pizza and pasta varieties. And the homemade tiramisu? Absolutely perfect! Ceasars will definitely be our first choice for future events. Thank you!

The food was ok, but one of the waiters was very unfriendly towards Asians!

Saturday dinner, fantastic! 6 of us, 3 Italian heritage, and they felt right at home. Lovely staff beautiful food, fantastic Barolo. How we laughed when we thanked the friend who recommended it, and they coughed that they went 30 years ago! Clearly as big a fixture in York as the Minster, and rightly so.

Shocking place to eat. My mother got food poisoning from the shellfish. Took ages to seat us the had to wait nearly an hour for food which was just average. Then the cheek to add service charge to bill. Disgusting

DO NOT GO HERE. Booked table at 8 for 4, had to wait outside for 15 mins. Tables rammed together. Food still hadn't arrived after an hour, then they sent complementary bread, starter and mains all at same time. 30 mins after leaving I started to feel ill whilst in centre of York and soon after I was violently ill. My son was so concerned he phoned an ambulance. I had ate the Seafood linguine, seemingly seafood poisoning can manifest itself between 6 minutes and 2 hours. My son tried to contact restaurant to no avail. Eat here at your peril.

Come here every year when at the christmas market, the atmosphere service and food are all more than 10/10 i can’t recommend this place enough. Can’t wait to come again this year.

A lovely local Italian, fresh food and quick service

We stopped for a late lunch in here and found the pizza to be excellent as was the four cheese gnocchi. Would definitely return here.

Basic food, nice staff, but honestly such a rip off. £3.75 for an offensively small glass of diet coke. What a joke. Overpriced food made bareable due to portion size. Obnoxious service charge at the end too (for a table of 4!). Definitely avoid.

We ate here last night because our ghost tour ended here and it looked lovely. We hadn't booked a table but they welcomed us in warmly. Staff were lovely and friendly and even took the time to explain how the building was also supposedly haunted. Lovely food and great atmosphere. Thank you.

The best Italian in York by a country mile. The food is exquisite - every single time - & the atmosphere & customer service are amazing. If we can't get to the restaurant Caesars is our go-to for a takeaway family celebration. It's fantastic! Go - if you're lucky enough to get a table!

Within an hour of eating myself and my partner became incredibly ill, we ordered the antipasti for a starter and then the carbonara and bolognaise as a main, which should be low risk food. However we were very unwell I turned pale and both of our stomachs were terrible afterwards it was the only thing we ate that day. How they managed to make us unwell with those meals is beyond me, either cross contamination or reheated food, not sure. Please beware.

1st visit just after lunchtime . Pleasant staff , nice atmosphere . Starters ( Garlic Mushroom/Baked Aubergine ) were nice but at nearly £10 each , overpriced . Mains were enjoyable , priced ok . Large Coke at nearly £6 is scandalous !!! And Service charge added which I object to as a rule and don’t pay , but didn’t have my glasses on so didn’t notice !!! Would recommend if you don’t mind paying the prices but afterwards I noticed other Italian Restaurants nearby were offering Lunchtime deals which appeared far better value …

Authentic Italian restaurant with great food and fab atmosphere

Great staff They found us a table for 4 at what appeared to be a very busy period for them and were very Friendly and efficient but as with most italian restaurants outside of Italy I always walk away feeling like it was just average the pasta seemed shop brought ( it might not of been just my opinion) but was a reasonable price and wasn't horrible just didn't walk away thing wow

Food was good however waitress was unprofessional and could hear her making fun of a simple question we made about the food to the kitchen staff and other bar staff right in front of us as well as lounging around over the bar…

Have lived in York for years and decided to visit as we had family over. As an Anglo-Italian goes it can't be faulted but I have certainly been to better. My partner and I are vegetarian and whilst on paper there were a lot of options, these were all variations on the same pasta with a red sauce. The vegetarian menu was also the gluten free menu meaning that the seemingly large list of options quickly got cut down. Other people have said about the need for salt and pepper and I have to agree, there was very little flavour to the food and honestly it was hard to finish. My father had the fish and said it was good. I would think that maybe the vegetarian options were just lacking. Decorations were nice but other than that the atmosphere was strange with loud 2010s music and no mood. The toilets were also up steep stairs and there was only one per gender. Glad I've been but wouldn't rush back as it is quite expensive for little quality and the staff whilst efficient seemed quite abrupt.

We have been coming to this restaurant for 15 years when we are visiting York. The food is freshly cooked and tastes great. The staff are warm and welcoming and take time to chat with you.

Delicious pasta Carbonara in York!

really nice food, couldn’t fault the meal at all, but long wait, made uncomfortable half way through meal by ghost tour walking past and all shouting at the window?

Food was very expensive and actually bad. Sauces watery and bland. Got two different pastas. The salad was nice and fresh though (hence why not 1 star). Won’t be coming back

My family of four, including my wife, daughter, grandson, and myself, enjoyed a delicious lunch at Caesars Italian Restaurants in York. My daughter raved about her Caesar salad, while my wife and I both enjoyed our pasta dishes. My grandson loved his child-sized portion of pasta, which was both delicious and plentiful. The service was pleasant and the overall value was fantastic, with the total bill coming to just over £70 including drinks. Caesars Italian Restaurants in York is an excellent choice for a quick and satisfying lunch.

Good food, excellent service and a very good atmosphere.

Went for lunchtime menu offer, when we sat down , we learned that it wasn't available during school holidays. This is fair enough, if made clear on display in window aswell as on line. We decided to stay anyway, and chose a pasta dish and a pizza. The pizza was very average and the fried egg was overcooked on top. We were given a small discount on the bill , due to to offer we expected no longer being available, which was greatly appreciated . Eating out is a real treat , and a considered decision budget wise , and maybe my expectations were too high, but I wouldn't return to Caesars again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else. More staff than customers is a sign that the restaurant is experiencing certain difficulties which I empathise with and must be very stressful.

There is a lot that is good about this restaurant. First of all, there are a bunch of options to eat and drink. There are multiple types of beers, juices, and there is also lemonade and water. I ate the minestrone soup, spaghetti carbonara, and ate 2 scoops of strawberry gelato (also, some pineapple juice). When I ate the minestrone soup, I felt so many flavors in my mouth. It is an incredibly flavorful soup with so many types of vegetables in it. It is very traditional and special; you cannot find something like this anywhere else. The spaghetti carbonara is also great. There is a sauce on the spaghetti carbonara that you might need to wipe off of your lips quite frequently, but that is okay. The pineapple juice is also super refreshing, and same with the gelato. The food portions are also large, so beware of that. It is definitely worth the price. The staff are also very kind. There is traditional Italian music playing in the restaurant as well as some beautiful decorations, so you feel very cozy and almost as if you were in Italy. The location is also great. It is in the old area of York, so it's easy to get to it. The city wall is also close by. Overall, I would definitely eat here!

Decided to try this Italian Restaurant as I was craving for Sphagetti Bolognese- I can taste the tomatoes but for some reasons I couldn't put enough of salt and pepper. I was hungry but didn't managed to finish my sphagetti bolognese. The ham and pineapple pizza we enjoyed it. We ordered fresh orange juice and pineapple juice. As I was almost half way of my pineapple juice, the glass was dirty that loses my appetite to enjoy the juice. Nobody checked if everything was okay. I didn't wanted to get the attention of staff just to point out regarding my pineapple juice glass. I was hoping that somebody would asked. The service was okay nothing special.

Lovely restaurant, family run and had the best welcome. All staff friendly and helpful. Italian is my favourite cuisine and didn't disappoint at all. Would definitely recommend if visiting York.

Stopped by on a whim while staying in York for the weekend on the wife's birthday. Amazing service, fair prices, lovely food and an enjoyable experience! Will try and go again before we leave.

Had an amazing mid-day meal here. Pasta Carbonara was addictive, staff was helpful & friendly, and the interior was quite.nice and comfortable.

Our family is on a wonderful holiday through the UK with York as an extended stay. We had our first meal at this fabulous restaurant and were so taken by the friendly, warm, attentive family atmosphere that we all decided to return for our final meal before travelling to Edinburgh. Fetteh was a fabulous host and really made our Grandson [9] feel the most important customer in the restaurant and continually engaged with him in such a friendly way. On top of all this the food was really excellent and authentic. Rich flavours, perfect cooking, excellent portions and a really good and appropriate wine list at reasonable prices. The Duck was spectacular and the Mussels so good our daughter had them both times. The gluten free Cannelonni was so good my wife tried it twice and even a steak Dianne was traditionally cooked and delicious. Would have loved more time just to come to this wonderful eatery. York, you are so blessed, make the most of this gem in your midst. A wonderful experience for us and a highlight of our holiday.

Beautiful food Best I've had for a long time well done guys

We came to Caesar’s as a school party of around 45 students and staff in March 2024. We were very pleased with how the staff were able to provide pizzas and desserts for so many in a short space of time. The quality of the food certainly didn’t suffer despite the demands put on the kitchen team. The deco is pleasant and the view to York Minster across the road was a nice bonus. Caesar’s is well worth a visit.

I had aperol Spritz Pate starter Chicken breast with ham and asparagus with a cream sauce. Husband ordered garlic bread with cheese and got a full size cheese pizza. He then asked for marinara on the side. Spaghetti and meatballs. It all was fabulous!

Proper Italian. Great service. Really nice food. I had insalata salmone tonight. Wonderful, if a bit on the salty side. Had the asparagus appetiser a few days ago for a late light supper. Also fantastic.

A lovely 'find' for us, we visited for a mum and daughters lunch. The staff were so friendly and helpful, food and drinks were spot on. Would highly recommend, this will definitely be our go to Italian restaurant whenever we visit York.

Great food and lovely atmosphere

After evensong in the Minster, where better or more handy than Caesars for an early-ish supper and this place did not disappoint. Warmly welcomed and sat at a table (hadn't booked) drink brought and order placed which was delivered in just a few minutes. Had starter which was very tasty and a salmon pasta dish which was also great. The cost was reasonable too. I could have paid a lot more down the road for a meal that might not have tasted as good. Definitely would like to return if staying in this part of York again.

Most recent of many visits to this restaurant in York. When visiting York we often make our way back here. Food is always freshly cooked to order, and is always excellent. We have never had a bad meal here. As ever service matched the food. Staff are always polite and efficient. Would highly recommend.

Excellent food with the kindest staff

Tonight, on a very rainy evening, 3 wet adults and a not very happy 2 year old visited this super restaurant for an early dinner. Within minutes of arriving we were feeling much happier as was the little one. Nobody minded they just carried on looking after us with super efficiency. The service and the food were both perfect, thank you so much for making our evening memorable for all the right reasons.

An absolutely incredible night out! The waiters heard that it was my dad’s 50th and a cake was brought and we hadn’t even asked for it!!!! We had amazing service and the atmosphere was remarkable!! It will be a night that I will remember for my entire life and there is no restaurant that can beat this one! Thanks for an amazing night🥳👌

The room temperature was comfortable. All drinks nice,food quality excellent . Service was fast helpfull and friendly.We were so impressed with the quality of the food as to even taste and share each others.My conclusion is that if we were staying over in York anytime in the future we would certainly go out of our way to return to Caesars Italian Restaurant!

We visited on a busy half term Saturday They were amazingly helpful to our group which included a person in an electric wheelchair and 2 small children They made a larger table from 2 small in an ideal place for access The service was good and were helpful The food was amazing The youngest really rated the spaghetti and my carbonara was top notch I also tasted the lasagne and loved it Meatball spaghetti got rave reviews We all enjoyed our main courses and the desserts were as good. It is also close to the cathedral Good value for money too

It's important to share my honest opinion and experience, even though I feel guilty for speaking so harshly about the food. This looked like it was going to be a great little independent Italian restaurant, the waiter was so friendly, but that lasagna… It wasn't disgusting, it didn't make me unwell, but it had NO FLAVOUR. Sheets of pasta sat in a watery, bland, tasteless red soup. I think any Italian restaurant should be nailing this one, especially at £17 a portion. I had two bites and all my tastebuds could detect was nothingness, no meat flavour, no herbs, no rich tomatoey taste. It was weak, wet gunk and I didn't have a third bite. Even the frozen supermarket ones have more flavour than this. There are a lot of Italian options in and around the shambles. Casual chains and independents. If you are a genuine lover of real Italian food, you should consider spending your money elsewhere because lasagna is Italian 101 and this was a big fat fail. I did have two slices of bruschetta which were charged at a similar price to the lasagna and tasted absolutely fine.

First time visit to Caesars. I’m a big fan of the other classic York Italian restaurants - Little Italy, Delrios and Il Parasiso - and this one was recommended to me as being on a par. Great recommendation - really excellent overall experience. Booked online, which was easy. Restaurant is very central, near the Minster, with a good layout inside. Warm welcome and buzzy atmosphere inside. Menu is large, with classics and specials. Beautiful garlic mushrooms to start, calzone for main. Calzone has a bolognaise topping. You like to see it. Tasty. Pasta dishes looked really good. Range of desserts - tried the cannoli, which is made in house. Lovely and crisp, faultless. The beer was Moretti. As it should be. Definitely worth a visit if you like excellent, well-cooked Italian food. Will be back in future.

We did a walk-in for ×7, 4 adults, 3 kids bang on 5pm. No Problem, pulled 4 tables together sat us down and served. Very authentic Pizzas. The ones for the kids were perfect size. My Chicken Milanse was great. Excellent service even ad the restaurant filled and they had to turn people away. Well worth a visit. Next time we will book a table.
