Food nice and is cheap with the deals they have. Personally,I think the furniture could do with updating but been here many times and always a nice atmosphere

Great food, atmosphere and staff. The Oak & Shield team always pop in for a few pints and feel very welcome by all the staff team.

This is going straight to head office 😃 - It's a pity you're not as quick to clear tables or bother doing checkbacks, as you are to jump on your phone and reply within an hour of us leaving the pub** Quality has reduced dramatically in the last 12 months. We gave The Butchers a go today for the first time in about 6 months, after several previous experiences that seemed to reduce in quality each time. The medium rib eye was dreadful, nothing that the chef has done wrong, just an awful, grey, sorry looking, strange smelling piece of meat. My wife left the whole steak save for a bite, and when the plate was collected, the waitress didn't enquire as to what was wrong. Again, we couldn't send it back because we'd just be served more of the same. All the staff (including management) walked round with faces like smacked a*ses (our table was booked for 4pm, the pub was very quiet yet there were multiple tables not cleared) None of the staff care one jot about the customer experience, and there seemed to be a lot of new faces behind the bar and serving too. No check back for our mains or desserts to see if everything was up to standard. I settled our tab (table 18) and the barman didn't even say thank you, just moved on to serving the next customer once the transaction had gone through. The Butchers, you used to be a cracking little pub, and I always made a point of tipping cash when settling our tab, but those days are gone. We won't be returning.

The butcher’s arms is a great little pub with a lovely atmosphere. One of the girls Lucy always does service with a smile and is always there to help with anything. She is a great laugh and a lovely girl.

!AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This is a very unwelcoming business with zero customer service for the manager to embarrass and humiliate us in front of other customers. I ordered a food and drink with my friends, when we received our food the chicken was pink and under cooked. We asked the manager to take our food back, she became immediately offended and said there was nothing wrong with food. After an hour waiting, we heard the manager talking quite loudly and was pointing as us then proceed to tell other customers about “what we was doing”. She came over whilst we were drinking and told us to leave. I told her we are still waiting for food and after spending £30 each on food and drinks we expect to be served food but she couldn’t give a valid reason to why and became very condescending about all the chaos we were causing.

Myself, 4 adults and 2 children came for my Son's birthday after recommendation. All 7 different meals and desserts were lovely. The service from the staff was spot on! Thank you. We will visit again.

Greene King chain pub, perfectly acceptable.

First time visiting, it was recommended, so we tried. It was gorgeous. The pub was full but we got a table. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was so nice. I had garlic and mushroom bake. It was vegan, but you would never have known that. It was superb. Just right size, not too much. A throughly lovely meal and a great pub. Will definitely be going back for another garlic and mushrooms pie.

What happened to home made meals when eating out? It's all just frozen food now and this Green king pub is one of them. I could make better at home from the air fryer... As a vegetarian, I had two options. I chose a veggie burger and the burger bun was so tough, like it had been sat on the side for 24 hrs. Other than that, frozen chips...so it really was not good.

Lovley food lovley pub will go again

Lovely staff but potion sizes are poor this is my meal havent ate any meat only the flat bread and my son had the big appetite kids meals which had 6 chips on it... never going to fill a 9yr old up on that amount. Unfortunately for this reason i doubt we will be going back.

We called in for lunch on Tuesday the food was delicious and the price was amazing my husband had the gamon steak and he said it was cooked to perfection I had the chicken strips they were delicious the service was excellent and all the staff were very very friendly it was a lovely atmosphere will definitely visit again.

Visited the Butchers Arms recently with my daughter and her partner and my granddaughter. I would recommend this place to family and friends. The staff were very good and the food was excellent. I had the chicken and rib combo which was piping hot and cooked to perfection, there was that much of it I had to take half of my chicken home. I will definitely be back again. The only small complaint is that they have recently changed the menu and no longer do the sharing chicken platter, or waffle fries which were my granddaughters favourites. One other thing to be aware of is that there are some very large potholes in the car park.

Food was really nice, didn't wait long for food to arrive. All staff were so pleasant and attentive. Will definitely dine there again, nice atmosphere.

Less than 1 week later , i'm in mykonos , so would say i prefer mykonos , sorry couldnt resist , stuff in butchers arms in decent enough , but maybe the staff could try ensuring that the toilets are regularly checked to ensure adequate supply of toilet paper etc. as clearly not the case.Getting more popular again now after you know what , would advise booking a table.still gets very busy , book a table.the toilet area's need updating , a lick of paint would make the area's much more appealing.

Food good staff excellent , portions poor seemed to have reduced in size . Brewery seem To want more money and profit for less . Butchers Arms is a good pub but the food quantity is very poor .

Beer was flat and paying over£10 for 2 pints of san miquel it wasn’t ecceptable, food was ok but needed to ask for side plates as we had a sharer

The Butcher's Arms is a very popular local pub in Great Sankey. 2 cask ales on offer, Greene King IPA and a guest beer. All the usual draught beers too. The food here is really good. Thursdays offer a 2for1 deal on burgers. 2 burger meals for a tenner! Superb value and great quality food. This pub gets MEGA busy on a weekend and Friday nights can be a nightmare if you don't like crowds. If you want to eat on a weekend you'll have to reserve a table. Overall, a great local pub, but very busy.

Came with my husband on Friday dinner time. Both ordered the flatbreads, me the chicken and my husband the sausage. Both tasted horrible. The sausage was mushy and my chicken flatbread just didn’t taste nice. It was quite busy but only one lady on the floor who didn’t check on anyone. Won’t be hurrying back. Wish I had gone to subway instead.

we was told we had 5 minutes left to drink up which is fair enough, the manger then comes round and asks us to leave and then asks us why are we looking at her like she’s got 20 heads very rudely. very unprofessional and not a nice experience being spoke to like that as a paying customer.

Had amazing lunch with my missus for our anniversary here yesterday (Friday) Will definitely return to defeat the mega bacon cheese burger as I couldn't eat the last remaining portion I had in fear of exploding . Thanks to all staff that made our day amazing

Top local pub, welcomes everyone. We hadn't been in for a while and took the dog in, the locals invited us in and cleared a space so that we could sit and watch the match with the dog.

We visited the butchers arms thursday 4th Jan food was really nice took advantage off the feed a family for 4, but beware we where charged £3.40 for a can off vimto, this is the response I got from head office when I raised the issue to them Dear Darren, Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding the vimto pricing. I can confirm that all of our drinks prices are centrally driven from Head Office following extensive customer feedback. Our prices are competitive in reflecting the high quality products purchased and are reviewed on a regular basis. Our drinks are also priced based on geographical location; we also like to be responsive to the local market and environment.

Great food & great atmosphere We took the kids for tea, easily found a table which was great on a Saturday evening! Both me, my partner & the kids loved their food, and service was great by the staff. The staff member who brought our food was smiley & interacted with my daughter 😊 & lovely service behind the bar from Keira! Will definitely be back again!

Eat regularly here. Food tasty and good offers and fab staff. They are worth their weight in gold.

We visited 29th December there were only 2 members of staff serving at the bar in what was, for a friday afternoon, quite busy 90% of the tables were reserved for customers arriving later that evening which presented difficulty in us finding a table initially. We ordered food and drinks the staff at the bar were very busy a 3rd person would have provided some respite for the two who were working flat out. Southern fried chicken burger a cheese burger two corn on the cobs and a kids veggie nuggets with mash and beans. Fruit shoot, lager top and lime and soda as drinks. Food arrived by the only other member of staff we saw, 3 chicken nuggets and a piece of scampi (good job we are not vegetarian/vegan or allergic to seafood). Burgers were ok but the chips and onion rings went cold quickly because the plates were not warmed - i mentioned the lack of veggie nuggets to the bar staff not a complaint but as a comment that the kitchen really need to keep these items separate from each other to avoid illness or shock. Finished with 2 lattes which were really nice. Total cost £35 which is reasonable and yes we would go again

I can't believe 16 hot wings for £8 😍 I don't eat fish n chips from anywhere else if not Butchers arm. And your foods, are sooo affordable. The quality and the quantity of your foods superseded the price. Once again , I thank you soo much for your service. Thanks to all those hardworking staff who work so hard to keep the service where it is. If you never been, try for the first time, and you will get more than your money worth. I'm a support worker, both me and the people we support appreciate your service. I don't usually leave a review, but you guys deserve it.
