Burrendale Hotel, Country Club & Spa in Down

Beautiful hotel i have stayed there a few times good food great room, i think they only have music on a few nights a week, friday in the bar good but just like any bar. Sunday night great was not my kind of music until i heard this guy Finbar, love it, going back just for this, on Sunday and ill buy his cd again because i love it. And he plays in the lounge perfect, cant wait, you have to try it 🍸🍀

Just home from a lovely night away in the Burrendale. Beautiful view of the Mournes and very clean room. Food was gorgeous and service was excellent!!! Staff were all so friendly too. The spa is amazing and I especially like you can use it even the day you check out!! Will definitely return but for longer next time!!!

We stayed at the burendale just after the new year and while the vast majority of the staff were brilliant, our stay was spoilt by the attitude of one member of the bar staff and also the general chaos of the bar staff. When trying to get served I was deliberately ignored by one of barmen who served a woman in front of me and when I pointed this out he denied that he did it until another customer told him he'd seen him doing it he then said the woman had been at the bar, had left, but she'd returned a couple of minutes later so he'd served her first because he then muttered something and said ok I'm sorry about that now what is it you want? There was no-one too complain to as no-one seemed to be in charge and the rest of the bar staff seemed to be under pressure carrying this character. We reported the encounter at the reception staff the next morning and they asked if we knew his name but as none of the bar staff were wearing any identification badges we made do with a discription off him. IMO this person should perhaps do the decent thing and find a job he'd be happier doing. He spoiled the evening for us and his bad manners reflected badly on the rest of the excellent and courteous staff.

So we had dinner in the burrendale on New Year's Day, food was good, staff is very friendly, but you can tell that the staff had very little or no experience at all. The Burrndale really needs to look into the service that they are giving, When you go to a nice hotel and or restaurant and you are spending money, you are spending money on the service as well. The only waiter that gave first class service was a gentleman from Greece, hands down the best service I've seen around for a very long time, but unfortunately he can't provide the service that you need by himself for the entire restaurant. Every time we had ordered drinks, we had to wait a very long time and ask for our drinks because communication wasn't there. Either the bar took a very long time just to pour a couple of shots or the waiters and supervisors weren't looking into what dockets are going towards the bar and vice versa. During our whole meal we didn't know who our waiter was, we were served by 4 different waiters, taking our food orders and drink orders which we found completely unorganized and unprofessional. And on top of everything at the end of our meal, we ordered another round of drinks which came late and the waiter Daniel comes around, sets the dirty tray with drinks on the table right beside me while I'm still eating and says to everyone, "I'll just let you all sort this out and take your own drinks". Now tell me, is that hotel service or is that even service? I'd get better service at any Italian trattoria in the world. Burrndale, you really need to look at your service, it's very horrible and unfortunately we won't be coming back anytime soon. Good luck to your service.

Had a half Spa Day booked thanks to my mum and partner for my 30th on November 23rd 2024. The receptionist was exceptional, the food was gorgeous, all areas we used were super clean and well presented. We had treatments from Caoimhe, Hannah and Catherine and we can't commend them enough on such a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere and absolutely incredible massages and facials. Thank you all for making my 30th so special and memorable, I hope you recognise how wonderful these folks who work here are!!

Sunday menu is very limited and food was just ok.

The beds were comfortable and the showers were very nice but the room was SO hot that I couldn’t sleep. The buffet was nice but quite limited in selection. The staff were nice enough. Mountain view was anything but that (unless you consider the roof of the hotel a mountain!), probably won’t stay here again. 4 stars if the room wasn’t so bloody hot!

Great stay friendly staff, good service, good food. Room looked recently refurbished and spa was very good and clean. Well worth a visit 🙂

Staff Lovely, Food Lovely Beautiful rooms and facilities are brilliant. But, and its a bloody big but, the room was like an inferno, two fans going still horrible, bed felt like a double, in a beautiful done up room you'd expect a bigger bed, one of the absolute worst nights sleep I've ever had and at £200 for a Monday night B&B it definitely wasn't Worth it. Highly recommend for food tho.

Stunning. Disability friendly. Good amount of disabled parking, but quite a distance from the door for people with limited mobility.

Arrived on a Sunday for a birthday lunch with all the family. The waiting staff were great, unfortunately the food was anything but great. I ordered the Turkey and Ham with duck fat roast potato, mashed potato, veg and a cranberry tartlet. When it arrived the turkey was very dry and the mashed potatoes tasted like smash (the old packet stuff), the broccoli was hard, I don't mean al dented hard I mean the knife would not cut into it. The duck fat roast potato was also very firm and barely warm and as for the cranberry tartlet that was nowhere to be seen, we got a tiny bit put into a dish. Very disappointed with what was a special birthday (60) meal. Will we go back? I don't think so.

We called into the Burrendale for some food after the golf on Saturday. We hadn't booked, but we were able to get a seat in the bar. The food was excellent, and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Went with my mum for a half day spa and we totally enjoyed it. Niamh and Hannah were amazing therapists. Will definitely be back.

My Husband and I stayed here many times and we have always enjoyed are stay here ,Unfortunately we stayed here last Thursday and had an awful time .We stayed in room 127 and paid £80 pounds each. We decided to use the pool and sauna facilities which we found great but when we got back to our room to have a shower there was no hot water or for safety no bath mat 🤔. We then got a knock on the door from the manager named meave who was very rude and hard to make out what she was saying. My Husband just thought the poor girl had special needs. The following morning when we were due to check out we were told that we have to pay £100 fine for smoking in the room. I was horrified because we don't even smoke .I told the manager called meave politely, is this a joke we can provide evidence from our doctor that we both don't smoke .The following day they took £100 pounds from my bank account. I have 2 children and my husband and I just wanted a well deserved break from working .Expensive especially when we don't even smoke 😒. We will be taking this further as no one deserves this .

Great night lovely food .staff so friendly. Spa great . Room lovely, cant fault anything at all .will be back .balcony a bonus as the weather was beautiful.

Rooms recently just been refurbished, finished to perfection and Was a perfect weekend and such friendly staff. Will be back again.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch with friends. A very busy restaurant. Nice views of the Mourne Mountains. Has a Spa and swimming pool etc.

Called with friends for Sunday lunch. All had an excellent meal, good quality and quantity. Nice surroundings. Recommend booking as the dining area was quite full. Staff friendly and very professional in their service

I paid £170 for a 1970’s room in the middle of a building site ! Worth £50 tops !! No a/con No extraction fan Double bed is an oversized single bed and a single bed that is no more than a camp bed ! Porridge 3’rd rate to say the least 🤦‍♂️ I mean Porridge 🤷🏼‍♂️ Need I say more !!!

Been going to this hotel over 20 years never disappoints...always made welcome amazing staff ...went on mothers day for a meal ..food was outstanding as always and made to feel very welcome ...

Country club cold showers. Steamroom not working sauna cold pool cold. Overall place needs a lot of work done

First time at the burrendale & hopefully it won't be my last. All the staff where super from reception to housekeeping everyone was so very helpful & pleasant. The rooms where spotlessly clean & even though we were a party of 3 we weren't cramped,we had plenty of room. The food was delicious and the service fab. I would recommend The Burrendale without hesitation. Thanks once to staff for My mums surprise birthday treats in the room on arrival.

Just out of town but close enough to walk. Front rooms view over the mountains. Food and service are very good. The only thing is the rooms,hallways are tired and could do with a refurbishment, which i believe is ongoing? The pool and changing rooms again need refurbishment. It's worth a stay with a young family.

Great wee spot! Haven't stayed in the hotel, but been at the restaurant on a friends wedding, and can say the food and staff was lovely. Member at the County club and spa also, great place with amazing staff 👌

Ok, needs a bit of upgrade from the rooms to the dining area, however the staff are 2nd to none and the food and service is definately 5 star. Great stay. Would def return.
