Went for Sunday Lunch booked 2 weeks previously. When we arrived a few minutes before our table time of 1.15pm, we were shown into the lounge with menus and told someone would be along shortly for us to order a drink. After 20 minutes, we still hadn’t seen anyone so my husband went to the bar himself. The menu wasn’t the same as the one I’d looked at online, which was disappointing given dietary requirements and the fact that I’d booked here based on the menu I had seen and the ‘festive dining’ vibe indicated on the website After a further 20 minutes, by now almost 2pm I went to find someone to ask if we could be seated. I queried the menu and was told the online menu is just a sample, however at my request they would try to accommodate me with food preferences. There was no welcoming greeting or smile from the waiter who took our order, and this remained the same for the duration of our visit. There was a jazz quartet playing quietly in the adjoining room, but the restaurant and the whole experience was devoid of any Christmas ambience/festivity. We had our 1st course some 70 minutes after our arrival. I had a glass of wine but the water requested for my husband didn’t materialise and after waiting 15 minutes I had to ask again. At no time did anyone ask if we would like another drink; I had to ask for another glass of wine whilst on my way to the ladies and then had to wait 15 minutes again when I returned. The food was just completely underwhelming; we were so disappointed, after having looked forward to the occasion for 2 weeks. I feel the restaurant tries very hard to create fine dining but unfortunately falls far short. We left feeling quite despondent and rather short changed.

It was an amazing experience, we came to have the afternoon tea and as the weather was great we could have it in the outside area, which, I must say, is a lovely place for the spring season. The price is correct for the amount of food and my coeliac partner was happy to have his gluten free scones (and all the rest). Best part, GF afternoon tea costs the same as the regular one.

My partner and I have enjoyed several meals here over the past 2 years and therefore we looked forward to the supper club taster menu experience and were not disappointed. 4 couples were seated at a long table in a private dining room and we were treated to a very good meal with some really enjoyable and unusual wine pairings. The portion sizes were spot on, allowing us a taste of the food without filling us up. The bread and butter at the beginning was divine, and you should not be put off to 'save room' as it is definitely part of the meal. It was unfortunate that one couple was late and therefore the whole table was forced to wait for them. I imagine that this would have been nerve-wracking for the chef since the evening had been carefully timed and everyone else arrived punctually. I think it would have been a good idea to serve nibbles with pre-dinner drinks - especially while we were waiting - as this would have made us feel a bit more looked after and taken the edge off the hunger pangs. There was plenty of theatre, with a glass of smoke sitting on top of the Duart Salmon and later, a 'mango burst' which we had to follow instructions to eat (well worth it!) The food was competently prepared and flavours beautifully balanced - poached halibut with a crab tortellini, sauce Jaqueline and pumpkin chutney stood out as extremely well balanced and delicious - the sweetness of the pumpkin giving a surprising lift to the perfectly cooked halibut. A glass of honey rum to go with the dessert was daring and I would have preferred the delicious Moscato d'Asti di Strevi as a companion to the Burleigh lardy bun. The rum would have made a better accompaniment to the petit four. Also, it was a shame not to be offered coffee at the end of the meal. These are all minor observations and we shall definitely be returning next month. The meal was excellent value and Jono, the sommelier was entertaining and knowledgeable. Sean, the chef, was magnificent.

We have stayed at Burleigh Court on a number occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed our stays! However, we checked in at 430pm after driving for a few hours. When we arrived we were shown to a lovely room, unpacked and headed down to the lounge area for drinks. We had already booked a dinner reservation for 730pm but just needed a little snack as we were feeling quite hungry. Only offerings available, were vegetable crisps, nuts and pork scratchings! (Not really substantial) as the kitchen was closed! We had booked dinner 2 out of the 3 evenings whilst we were there. Both evenings the food was amazing! As always! The waiting on staff are all very accommodating and friendly! The restaurant manager, however did his best to reprimand his staff in front of customers- not very professional! We decided to head out for the day on day 3 and didn’t arrive back to the hotel until after 630pm - we hadn’t booked a reservation in the restaurant as we didn’t fancy another 3 course meal and having had a late lunch whilst out , we weren’t particularly hungry. When we arrived back to the hotel the lobby area was full of non residents booking into the restaurant. We asked if we could simply have a snack or order room service a little later on, to be told a straight NO! Again by the restaurant manager! No food offered at a hotel!?? ( even though there is room service advertised!) We had to drive around Stroud on a Friday evening looking for somewhere to eat!? Obviously everywhere was booked up! The hotel itself is lovely. We did have a problem with the heating in our room- it was turned off around 830pm! The heating in the bathroom remained on! Nothing to do with the thermostat - it was turned off and was rather chilly! We have always look forward to staying at Burleigh Court, but we’re feeling very disappointed with the whole experience. We did have an apology! But unfortunately for us, it was a little too late! I think they need to decide if they are a restaurant with rooms above! Or a hotel with a great restaurant! Residents must come first if you’re a hotel!

We'd describe this as an 'excellent country house restaurant', with good fresh food, well cooked and well presented. Menu is rather conservative without surprises, but sticking to the basics pays off: my turbot was excellent, my partner's chicken was good too. An excellent wine list. Dining room somewhat compact, so the tables are rather small, but otherwise the atmosphere was convivial and friendly. Service was keen and well meaning. We'll return.

Recently refurbished and within walking distance, I have known this hotel having married here and attended many functions over the years. Recent Daily mail review was good. All 3 courses of our lunch were very disappointing. Maybe we chose poorly but from the point of view of food this was very bad value for money and unless it improves greatly we won't be returning which is a pity but we came away feeling hungry

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I have given a rating of "very good" due to the lovely food, the efficiency of the staff, and the hotel itself as a venue, it's stylish decor, and the geographical position of the hotel, hidden away in a little secret pocket, with lovely views. It was the bungled booking that spoiled my experience. When phoning for the first time to book Sunday lunch for my family, I asked if we could have the private dining room, and was told yes, no problem, by the female who answered the phone. After speaking to family members, who were wondering how our party would be seated in the room, I phoned again to double check that all was well, and that we could still have the room, as our numbers had reduced by 2. I was told yes by the gentleman who answered the phone, and reassured my family members (who included one disabled person and one elderly person) that we would be in a room on our own. After having drinks in the newly refurbished, very attractive lounge , we were shown through to the private room, to find that another table of diners were already eating in there. We were shocked, and immediately approached the manager, who said that private dining came with a supplement of £150 for the room, which NO-ONE had said at any point, and that the room was used as "overflow restaurant" I asked if we could be moved and he said nothing could be done, then walked off! We were cramped, close to the other diners, and the room was stuffy. The tables used were barely big enough for us and the diners in the central positions had their places laid over the join of the two tables (no cloths) We noticed spare tables off to the side, and wondered if the layout was decided in order to accommodate the other table of diners. We had our meal, everyone enjoyed the food, but I felt embarrassed for my guests, who didn't make a fuss due to the occasion, and disgruntled that such an establishment had handled the whole thing quite badly. If I had known what I know now, I would have booked a table in the corner of the main restaurant, but of course, I didn't know. It's a wonderful place, we will still recommend, and we will continue to use it as a destination, as we live in the Stroud area, but suggest that the couple of points described above are taken into consideration to avoid future problems.

We had a wonderful time at their fireside music and dining evening. Burleigh Court is tucked away so a bit tricky to find but well worth the effort. It's a beautiful hotel with stunning views and they had gone to such a lot of effort to create a relaxed and comfortable Al fresco dining experience. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, the music and ambiance were superb and the food was delicious. This was our first visit but won't be our last. We very much look forward to another visit when inside dining is allowed again.

It is unfortunate I have to write this review after being one of Tomari G’s biggest fans previously. We arrived Friday evening to extremely bad service and without half the menu available. The waitress basically ignored us for 20 minutes. When she arrived they had no Rose wine. When we went to order they had no sushi ! One of the main reasons we visit!! We then asked for Salmon Poke Bowl, this was not available, We asked what was available the answer was just Ramen. I have also had a few friends visit who expressed there concern on the lack of menu available recently. I understand that this has happened since they have been taken over. We visited when it was the previous owners and it was amazing. My advice, try somewhere different. Nagomi in Cheltenham is amazing so we will be visiting that restaurant instead In future.

Last time visited “ small Americana “ was 1.95. Then 2.10. Today……2.60. No reason despite costs…..to elevate to this price… There are unfortunately not a lot of “ good coffee shops in Dursley” could do with “Costa” or Coffee1 “ Wake up call……for these stupid prices…..if you want to “ stay open” I’d review all your prices/ ….or you soon will be “ gone” No one wants to fell “ conned” last visit for me!!

Stayed at the Frocester George and ate in the dining room whilst walking the Cotswolds way. My room was lovely- room 12, relatively recently done I think with everything you could want. Spacious room, organic tea and coffee, small fridge with fresh milk in it (yay!!!!) lovely bathroom. The meal was delicious, and the breakfast great, including a wonderful selection of fresh fruit. Would happily return for another stay if I am in the area.
