Burger Priest in Swindon

My family and I went to this burger joint (now rebranded The Confessional) for lunch today. Being a vegetarian for 29 years, I ordered a mushroom halloumi burger and my daughter ordered a chicken burger. The idiotic server brought the order unlabelled and in the wrong order, leading to me eating three bites of CHICKEN before realising it wasn’t grilled halloumi. I am absolutely disgusted and furious and I will never EVER return. I will be making sure my family and friends won’t be coming either. Appalling service in every way.

Fantastic service and great food, will definitely be coming again. I had the hellfire burger, it really lives up to the name. Had to wait a bit but was worth it.

To put it simply, I left this place underwhelmed. I wanted the Bishop's Smokehouse Burger, there was no Bishop's Smokehouse Burger. I then decided for the Pulled Pork Hot Dog, lo and behold there was no Pulled Pork Hot Dog. Dad wanted the Hellfire Burger, funnily enough there was no Hellfire Burger. I settled on the 10 Chicken Wings with BBQ sauce and while that tasted nice, we could have cooked wings at home, smothered them in sauce and it would have tasted the same. Chips were nice though, and the loaded chips looked beautiful. In terms of staff, everything seemed all over the place. We waited a long, long time for a fast-food type place (roughly 30 mins) and truthfully, they need a bigger kitchen. The kitchen is tiny and the place therefore did not have enough people. One other thing is that I'm never impressed when a restaurant gives us lukewarm cans for drinks - they need to be chilled either in a can, glass or cup. The place has a lot of potential and I think it would function better as a proper restaurant rather than a fast-food joint. To carry on the Christian theme, this place sits somewhere in Purgatory.

Absolutely outrageous. One hour after placing the order and having uber eats delivery drivers changed twice I decided to call the restaurant to find out what was going on. An employee answered and when confronted with why was it taking so long he just dropped on the phone to the manager. The manager said they had only received the order now from uber and that they were closed. She kept saying it was fine until my lid came off and I said it wasn't fine and theres no way she had only got the order at the moment. This because a few uber drivers had already tried to deliver. She could have been courteous and apologetic but her management and social skills are obviously in need of training/refreshement. As it is NOT FINE to wait more than an hour for your order only for the restaurant/manager not even have the decency of contacting or canceling earlier. Absolutely ridiculous. So do not recommend. A business that doesn't put the costumers needs before their priorities is absolutely a money grabber and disgusting. The manager which was a woman and didn't even bother to say her name was rude and kept interrupting me when I was trying to get this sorted. She even had the nerve to tell me to sort this out with Uber. Appalling.

Was a takeaway order for delivery, they said they took the order ( thumbs up from restaurant ) waited 50 mins past the delivery time to then call the restaurant and for them to say they have sent it out and we would have to call just eat, so we ring just eat and apparently the restaurant didn’t even make the food just completely lied to us on the phone and took our money, now waiting for refund and no dinner. Great service.

I waited 30 min - for a burger that was cold and raw on the inside. Chips were good hence the 1 star.

I ordered the 'Bishop's Smokehouse Burger', 6oz Aberdeen Angus topped with cheese, bbq pulled pork and the typical burger salad, along with Sweet potato fries. Typically sweet potatoes lack a crunch, but these were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The bbq pulled pork in the burger was sweet, succulent. It tasted great honestly. The burger as a whole was well-assembled and tasty. Although there was a small waiting time once I'd ordered my food, it is still 'fast-food' and I will be coming here in the future.

Food above average, nice portions, might lack in hygiene as the guy taking money was also preparing food but we all need/love a good dirty food. Price is below average. Their poutines are amazing, the burgers are ok, milkshake average.

The good......the burgers are freshly made, and do taste fantastic, a little more expensive than other burgers....but you know it’s freak. The bad........now you don’t mind waiting for a freshly made burger....but 35 minutes is beyond excessive, so let’s not sell this as a fast food joint. There didn’t seem to be that many people in there....other than lots of people waiting a long time to get food. The ugly.....sadly some of the staff lack any passion about their work, it’s great having Saturday staff in or part time workers, but do try and give them customer service training. When our food was finally given to us we had the beginnings of “sorry for the......” I think I heard her say “delay” as she turned and walked away. really didn’t feel any Oscar winning performances on trying to deliver a heart felt apology. I would come back, but probably not for at least another 6 months in the hope they have got the timing of a burger joint in line with customer needs and given their staff a little more training and get them to love working there and to remember that happy customers....are returning customers,

Been here on 2 occasions now & the food and service is fantastic. My daughter is a coeliac & they have gluten free options , the staff are lovely & nothing is too much trouble & the burgers are simply amazing 😉

I came here as our regular restaurant was too busy. Let’s just say that I’m thankful it was!! Burger priest you have converted me!! Our food was fresh, quick and most of all delicious. No longer will I walk upon the threshold of our previous haunt. Kind and welcoming staff made for the experience. Thank you 🙏

Been meaning to try this place for a few months. Some good choices on the menu, I opted for the Alter Burger with bacon and the skin on fries which were very tasty. The burger was delicious also. The young girl serving was very pleasant and efficient and it was a nice touch having the take away brought to us.

Came here a couple of weeks ago and was mildly surprised- it was a fairly good burger with lovely sweet potato fries. The pulled pork was a lovely addition to the burger too

Thought I'd try this place out for a change as we normally use the outlet next to it. Was quiet when I ordered, staff weren't overly friendly. Tables were clean and easy to fund a seat. Orderd a cajun burger, brioche style bun was dry, good sized portion of chicken breast in it, but it all kept falling apart when trying to eat due to the shape of it. Salad was fresh. Definitely no spicy mayonnaise as the menu indicated, just a smear of normal mayonnaise. Sweet potato fries were completely overcooked and black in places. Staff delivered food to table, no smile just put bag on table and walked away without a word - enjoy your meal might have been a nice touch. Won't rush back, there are other venues in the Brunel that do fresh tasty food with a smile. No hats on staff cooking food, so cannot see how they get a hygiene rating of 5!

Called in here on a Monday lunch time, first thing I was told is they had no beef burgers, so I ordered loaded fries and latte, when I was told they had no coffee only the expensive triple 2, as I wasn't going to be bullied into buying expensive coffee I went for a can off Dr peppers, while we were waiting for our meal we noticed all the staff were stood around behind the counter eating chips etc, one guy was wandering around with a cigarette behind his ear, when the meal arrived it looked awful, the "skin on" fries had no skin on and were soggy and limp, we were supposed to have "red Leicester" cheese on them and it definitely wasn't red Leicester, more like white cheddar, I was not happy so asked for the manager, no one knew where she was and she couldn't be found so a woman came to talk to me, she explained they had had an awful day and she normally works out the back, she had been there the longest which is why she came to talk to me, she gave me a refund of my food but did say they were using up old stock before they used the other foods, I explained that they shouldn't advertise one thing and supply different but she didn't seem bothered, I also asked if any of them had a basic hygiene certificate and she smiled and shook her head and said no Bottom line I will not go here again and I think environmental health needs a visit

Went in for a burger for myself and ended up being recommend the children’s meals for my 2 year old. He loved it, as did I. The staff were very attentive, even offered to help lift my son so that he was able to see the ice creams - I had my 6 month old daughter in my arms. Highly recommend for the great food and friendly atmosphere.

Reasonably priced burgers and sides. Good taste and a good spot to grab lunch with friends. Service times a little slow but not unexpected at lunchtime.

After GBK closed in the town centre it’s very limited to where you can get a good burger, I see Burger Priest in passing a couple of times and decided to finally try it. It was so disappointing, the decor as you walk in looks good and really gives you that feeling of a place that is rustic and will be a good grill house. There is plenty of seating thanks to the shared seating areas and is very clean and presentable. The staff were ok not overly chatty and were more bothered with themselves and when there next break was. The young guy cooking the meal who had a shaved beard and longish hair needs to brush up on food hygiene, he doesn’t wear a hat whilst cooking so potentially hair could be dropped into food and as he has longish hair he kept brushing it back with his hands. He was wearing gloves but he was then using them gloves to cook, I only noticed this after I finished eating or I would of been put off from the start.

Went for the high priest burger upgraded fries to poutine, all tasted great. Good service very helpful manager or owner would highly recommend visit

I was intrigued to try this place in the hope that it was Swindon's answer to Five Guys. Sadly I wasn't blown away. The service wasn't the fastest, the menu was very unclear and the burgers weren't anything special. The chips that I had were not warm. My son's burger in the kids meal had fallen to pieces when it arrived.

Came with my family at lunchtime today, we are all difficult lol!! One with allergies and two who like to adapt every burger they order!! They couldn't have helped more, they worked out what I could eat, service was great and the burgers and chips were perfect. The manager( I'm assuming this) came to chat to us after we ate and was lovely, the customer service in there is great, as is the food, a massive asset to swindon

Was recommended by a friend while at the crossing and was not disappointed. I ordered the helfire burger and it was delicious! Spicy but not to hot and the burger was succulent and delicious. To top it off they are priced verry reasonably at under £6 for a burger and chips. The staff are verry friendly and gave great service. The only things I could say to the management of the burger priest is that the burgers are a little messy so maby offer napkins and the chips need salt.

Been twice. 1st time burger was overcooked and dry, 2nd time waited 30 mins. No queue, but obviously a lot of people paid and waiting. They should be more honest about waiting time when busy instead of just grabbing your money. Will stay with McD from now on.

Burger Priest is a brand new burger franchise to join the food outlets on The Crossing within The Brunel Shopping Centre offering a wide range of different burger options and several different types of fries. Positioned towards the back it’s not the first place you spot within this food-hub but well worth seeking out. Restaurant quality burgers in a street food setting. Staff were attentive and friendly and I would highly recommended a visit.
