Burger King in South Somerset

Place has had a revamp since I last passed by. A massive improvement, but still doesn't feel like anyone really wants to look after the place. There's also now a Gregg's! (Didn't eat at either so can't comment on the food) Jan 2024: best fast food chips I have had for quite a while!

Visited at 18.10 on a Monday waited to give our order for a good 5 minutes, to be told there are no patties or burger buns, waited for our order for another 10-15 minutes, through the drive through. I’m sure there was only 2 staff members working there this evening. When we eventually got our food it wasn’t the warmest.

Sat at the drive thru (the only customer in the queue) for 15 mins eventually parked went in and ordered food found 5 staff all talking to each other when mentioned I had sat on the drive thru was told there was an issue with the headset sensor. Have had to listen to a staff member bitxhing no way was she there for 15 mins clearly loud enough for me to hear. Come on Burger King sort this out!

We were passing through as a family in August and ordered 4 menus at Burger King. It was a remarkable experience because I have never had to eat in such a dirty restaurant. Nobody cleaned the floors or cleaned tables during our stay. When I saw the bucket with water for the tables, I was grateful for it. (Photo) Some of the toilets were out of order and the ones that were open were so dirty and smelled. There were 9 (!!!) caution signs put up in the women's toilet and in the guest room alone because the floors were so dirty. They weren't friendly either. Neither greeting nor farewell or friendly apology for the forgotten drink. I would like to undo this expensive fast food restaurant visit! I can't imagine this is up to Burger King standards.

The best Burger King I have visited. The staff were quick and efficient. The food was really fresh and well cooked. Convenient location with free parking and toilets. Plenty of seating and a couple of benches outside.

Nice burger king as they go, perfect placement after a long drive from Cornwall to home.

Slow service and then had the cheek to charge extra for mayonnaise

Delayed service at the drive through whereas I was the only customer at the drive through , when I got home, I only realized I was served half a cup of hot chocolate 😬. Burger bun seemed to be smaller than its usual size.

My wife and I recently visited the Burger King at Horton Cross, and we had a fantastic dining experience. We decided to go for customised Chicken Royales, and we were not disappointed. The sandwiches were prepared exactly to our specifications, with the perfect balance of ingredients and flavours. The staff at this location were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They made sure we had plenty of condiments for our meals, which added to our enjoyment. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor made our visit even more pleasant. Overall, we were very impressed with both the food and the service at Burger King Horton Cross. There are no signs, but you soon get told that this place is NOT dog friendly!

We stopped over for a break and had a good refresher

As fast food should be. Was ready in less than 5 minutes, and food was hot and delicious!

It was dead in there. There wasn't any tomato in with my burger. The only good thing was the chips, and they were just warm

Waited ages after ordering just 2 drinks, eventually gave up and asked for refund. Only manger could do refund, so she was asked by server to do it. Manager however continued preparing food, After another considerable wait I had to ask for the manager again. She then came over and gave me a refund. The other staff were however very nice.

We have not been to Burger King for a while won't be going back in a hurry!! The burger was so small it was ridiculous!! 👎

They s very sit was spoilt by serving the wrong burger, but corrected very efficiently. I was disappointed as ordered extra large Angus burger, went for onion rings as extra and a frozen lemon sprite. This was served as a chicken burger, just onion rings, no fries, and a frozen lemon sprite which I had already paid for a non frozen as part of a meal deal. So I had to pay £ 0.70 for onion rings, thinking this was extra to the fries, wring, then £1.50 for the drink I get but frozen, very poor value, but the burger got corrected swiftly at least. Ordering fries was an extra £2.89, learnt a lesson, order your meal deal and don't change from the deal and you are all good. Change and you are ripped off big style!

The worst burger king I have ever been to I waited nearly 30 mins for my food

Average. Food can be hit or miss. Wouldn't recommend ordering cokes or sprites. Tend to be flat with little Flavour. Last meal was terrible, Bacon Double Cheese Burger, it was missing cheese and looked like it had been sat on. BK apologised and have offered a free Whopper.

Pretty poor food and terrible service. There were only 2 of us ordering food in there and 5 people behind the counter cooking and serving. Somehow it still took them 30 minutes to produce my 4 burgers and chips, madness.

Food was cold chips missing from the burger meal, customer service was nonexistent. Burger buns where stale. I’ve been a Burger King fan for many years never once complained, this place AVOID AVOID. THERES A MCDONALDS OVER THE ROUNDABOUT!!

Whoppers used to be big and dripping with lovely sauce, not so now. I added small fries and was shocked how small the portion was. Big tasty and fries are now preferred.

This burger kind was delicious. Extremely friendly staff. Unfortunately, its not a clean place most of the time.

Quick delivery of food, love the varied menu, the spicy mayo is properly spicy! Much better than McDonald's.

If that authentic 'rest stop at the end of the world' is your vibe, then you'll love this place! I imagine it's where many a going to or returning from holiday family argument has started.

Had a double something Whopper. How they can justify calling this a Whopper is beyond me!

Poor people working here, due to an accident the place was overloaded , I had to queue at the drive through for about half an hour. But that said they were apologetic and polite. We'll done guys

1 star because I can't leave 0, service was so fast but at the expence of dry food, I ordered a vegan royalal, it was dry and chewy nothing like my previous experience of this burger, staff did offer a replacement but couldn't see the point in replacing 1 dry burger with another and no refund was offered despite burger being inedible, facilities were disgusting and only 2 out of 4 ladies toilets were working, will never stop at this particular services again

The most disgusting place I have ever stoped at. Filthy and toilets were hideous. Drove to next services for the toilet. GROSS Although the lovely guy outside worked very hard and was friendly.

Just go to mcdonalds. Drink was warm and flat, no ice, no sides, no food basically. A cold greggs would be better.

As a previous reviewer asked, do they employ a cleaner here? Dirty toilets smelling of old pee aren't nice to visit. As for the BK food here - very mediocre. Do they operate at minimum standards for their drinks dispensers? This is the second BK I've visited where the drinks were pretty flat and not cold.

Nowhere should sell burgers at 9am

Visited on 14/8/23 on way to Cornwall & on way home on 21/8/23.. Do they employ a cleaner at all? Food at Greggs on way there was OK & BK on way back was almost cold (Had a Whopper).. One of the toilet seats in one of the cubicles was broken & in a disgusting state. Shame because we used to stop here when it was a Little Chef & was convenient for us as about half way on the journey. Seriously thinking of finding somewhere else now

Unhygienic and dangerous - got food poisoning from eating 4 chicken nuggets here, EHO are picking it up. Avoid unless you want to be best friends with your toilet bowl for three days.

The only thing warm was the bun. Burger was cold, ordered extra bacon & that came uncooked. When I say uncooked, i mean raw. I'd of preferred to wait the extra minutes for a hot burger & cooked bacon, but apparently, that's the way it comes.

Good food, fast service. Toilets, on the other hand, are horrendous, and the restaurant could benefit from a wipe down and a brush every couple hours to maintain.

Food is usually served hot and freshly cooked although there doesn't seem to be a cleaner to brush up food from under tables and actually clean tables after someone's eaten at them. Quite unhygienic! Staff are helpful.

Just arrived as the drive through was about to close. But was served quickly and food tasted good. Hadn't had a burger king for a long time, would go back again.

VERY expensive for such a small meal. I was genuinely shocked when I saw the size of the cheeseburger!! I was almost unsure as to whether I'd been given a kids meal instead! Would only come back here if we had little option

I've been in some grim Burger Kings but this is the worse! Floor is minging, tables dirty, when one lady asked for a cloth they came out and just drenched the table in water, dripping off the sides so she had to move. Self service machines hardly work. Grass around the drive through so long and overgrown you would think it was shut!! One visit was enough, I won't be back

Will not visit that place again...cold food even when exchanged, bin's overflowing and seagull's fighting over the rubbish dropped outside .

Worst Burger King meal I ve ever had in my life! Crispy onion rings were soggy, the chips had very obviously been fried twice, burger was luke warm with a tiny bit of lettuce and one piece of tomato. Absolutely vile!

Didn't feel safe thought was going to get pick pocketed I see a lot of theifing not nice never again a lot of traders becoming more like a market.

It was ok when we were hungry as we didn't wait long and order food on screen was pretty smooth. But the taste of the food was just so so . Hope can have more spicy food choices one day?

This has to be the worst tasting Burger king I've ever been to. The chips where like card board and looked like they have been sat there all day, the burger didn't have and the bun very dry. The Sprite didn't have any taste. The staff were under pressure due to technical issues with there tills but we're still polite. I don't like it leave bad reviews but this was really unacceptably bad😔

Absolutely filthy, had to go to till as self service wouldn’t work and the staff member said he hated the place! Wow!! Then we got half warm food. Cartgate was closed as after 6pm. Will not make the same mistake in the future. Absolutely terrible.

The place is filthy, it wasn’t even busy but all the kitchen staff kept saying to each other is were closed. Messed up the order. Never had a good experience here. Only stop here if all else fails.

Went in at about 9pm on a Thursday. Roughly 10 people waiting and ordering. A coffee was placed on the counter, but nothing said, so we all assumed it was for an imminent order for someone. There was no urgency in the staff, as if collectively they had all just had enough. 20 minutes later they shouted our number and sure enough, that coffee that had been sitting there from the start was ours🤦‍♂️ Didn't have time to ask for another hot one, so left to quickly eat the food. Burgers were nice and hot but the cheesy bacon fries were just about warm.

Its a fast food joint on the sude of a dual carriageway.. food was as expected. Carpark is the wrong way though ..

Adult burgers (£9+ per large meal) were the same size as the kids meal. Milkshake machine broken but no refund on the upcharge. No lettuce/salad/sauce in burgers. Very slow service. Pretty awful all round.

Not very clean,unfortunately. And I mean the tables, not just generally. For a quick bite to eat it's ok. Service can be slow ( I guess that depends on the staff) but staff are nice and helpful.

It was a mix of an expensive, service was hectic and slow (15 mins from order to food) but correct. Most disappointed by the size of burger aftrr having ordered a premium meal the burger was tiny, akin to a McDonald's saver menu, and given the name expected a lot more.

Absolutely appalling. The cheeseburger I bought was made with a stale roll which I just couldn't eat. This is the second bad meal I've had from here and I won't be going again

Pity they don't do alternative milk ie soya Milk and they need more vegan options .....had a bottle of orange juice and a packet of chips ......as I was hungry and stuck for somewhere to eat at 7 in the morning......

Arrived and the place was empty. Staff of youngsters all standing around talking. Floor and seats dirty. A couple came in wanting to order and the blonde member of staff spoke to them impolitely telling them to use the self service and just walked off. She went around the food and stuck her finger up at her colleague and then stood around on her phone. Food was okay.

The guy was helpful with the vegetarian questions. It took a while to use the ordering touchscreen to learn the options and limitations of a meal deal (there are fizzy drinks but you can't have a fizzy drink in a meal deal). The order came through pretty quickly. There were no napkins on display and none in my bagged meal. The eating area was quite bad. I was walking carefully to avoid getting food on the soles of my shoes for fear of treading it into the car carpet afterwards. The tables were much in need of a wipe, as were the seats! The bins were overflowing. My companion felt ill for the rest of the day, after not enjoying the food at all. I was ok with the food but we agreed that the fries didn't look right. Price was higher than we remember from a year ago. Weirdly, even the carpark had a forlorn vibe. Though it was cleaner than the restaurant floor.

They could not get the food order right food went back at least three times by the time my burger came back my chips were cold they only gave me one juice when three what ordered I ordered two Waters and only got one dreadful customer service I would definitely not recommend

On a Friday evening this place can only be described as "visit if all else fails". The ordering machines were touch INsensitive! Service does not resemble anything like what this should be a fast food restaurant. Food is box-standard mediocre. Area to eat in was messy and a spilled drink was not (yet?) cleaned up. So we ended up in the atmosphere lacking central area which was at least tidy. As I said I will only revisit again if I am really desperate for something to eat. Ps Greggs next door was closed.

Vegan burger was almost inedible. Service was friendly. Service station ambience is never great.

Disappointing as always bring back the burger King of the 80s
