I was here over a year ago and disappointed..thought would give another try. I won't be back ! They are still selling scones which are really burnt rock cakes ! This time I went for iced gingerbread. Not great. Dry and underwhelming..coffee average...shocked at price of cake and coffee ! This place has never improved...clearly they don't read reviews 😒 we deserve better produce and service ! Let your feet do walking..plenty of other coffee places to choose from..

Fabulous little cafe just off main street. Very hot and sunny day so chose the covered seating at the front, so outside but not in full sun. Hubby had full English with toast and coffee and I had corned beef and beetroot sandwich with delicious bit of salad and coleslaw and dressing. Sandwich full of filling, coffee tasty and hot. Hubby said breakfast was wonderful. Would definitely come again,

Took relatives here on a very cold day in January this year as I had been a few times the year before and it was lovely. But there was no heating and the place was freezing. No apologies made. Server was so rude. Food was ok. But we came out smelling like we had been in a greasy spoon cafe. Had to wash all my clothes on returning home So certainly won’t be back Pity because it’s a nice spot. So won’t be recommending any time soon.

We waited an hour for our food which was quite honestly the worst lunch I’ve ever paid for. Wrap had 2 tiny bits of chicken (looked like half a chicken nugget in each wrap) and a bit of sauce in each with no salad - chips rock solid. Sandwich was dry and soup tasteless. Could have made better myself and would have been much quicker! Cobwebs on the teddy bears hanging from the ceiling and didn’t feel overly clean in other areas either. The young waitresses were very friendly but a shame about everything else! Will not be returning.

On a cold and blustery day, we arrived at Bullands for lunch to find no heating on. Sat with my coat over my knee to keep warm, when asked about the heating the server said it wasn’t working and no apology offerred nor a notice on the door to at least give you an option not to go in! Only one server and one person in the kitchen with one further server arriving an hour later. That said the food was good and hot but service really poor. There was also a really bad cooking smell permeating the restaurant. So disappointed as Bullands has the potential to be a good restaurant.

Despite not busy waited about 15 mins for menu to be brought. our order came quite promptly and to be fair the baked potato and salad was very nice but a bit light on prawns however the waitress never approached our table again to clear away or ask if we wanted anything else.we had mentioned on ordering that we would have coffee after our mains. When We went to the desk to pay all 4 staff were talking among themselves and we were kept standing at the counter. A shame about the staff lack of engagement as it is quite a nice wee place for lunch

This was a second visit for us after a great experience about2 years ago. Could not have been any different. Waiting over 90 mins for food was not great so when I asked at the desk I was abruptly told they were busy despite having space at tables and less than 30 covers. As I was waiting at the counter to speak to someone I saw staff wiping their noses and wallets then touching plates and napkins. I was told our order was next but they had clearly not started it so opted to leave rather than eat late and unhygienic food. Will not visit again.

I had just completed a lovely walk and was looking forward to a coffee and scone before heading shopping then home. It had been a while since I had been in this cafe and I was passing so! there I was! Coffee came fairly quickly but my scone reminded me of my own disastrous cooking skills! It was burnt! It looked more like a rock bun! I asked if I could have one which wasnt burnt and was told they are all the same! I refused any type of scone! I would never put that down to someone! On commenting when I paid I was told "once you get past the crust it is lovely inside!!" I also observed a server advising people certain items were not available and also someone left practically their whole salad on the plate!! I think the public deserve better than this! Needless to say I wont be back - there are better coffee shops in Milngavie! I notice they are advertising for staff - perhaps when that happens things will improve????

Had an absolutely disgraceful experience here this morning. Came in for coffee with our dog and 9 week old puppy. We were told it is their policy that the puppy cannot be sitting on a knee. She was fully wrapped in a blanket with only her head popping out and well away from the table. So disgusted at our experience. No way to put the pup down when she is not fully vaccinated. The cafe was not busy and she was asleep in my arms. Ridiculous policy. We will not be returning.

What a charming little place! Very cute decor. This place could go from "it was ok" to brilliant with a few little tweaks. When you come in and are seated a simple i will be back to take your order wouldn't go a miss. We didnt know how it worked so went upto the till to order. There was no rolls left at 2.15pm so maybe stock control needs looked at ? The good tasted nice but the Hot chocolate certainly wasn't hot. I loved the decor and it was a relaxed vibe which are huge plusses, i would say it was mid price range, service and quality control maybe just needs a little work.

Sorry...but... the food was so bad...Lasagne was bland, macaroni was ok but the dish it was served in looked dirty and was cracked with sauce run over the side, the baked potato was hard, the soup was watery and flavourless, chips were hard bordering on burnt and I don't know how they managed to make a salad look so bad. The waitress that served us also took the money at the till and she looked embarrassed asking for the £45.00 bill...plus side our dog got a free sausage...will definitely not be back

I arrived (albeit at a busy time) and found a seat at table 6, with the agreement of those sitting there. After being ignored for a while, I asked the two customers if it was table service. They suggested I should make my presence known as the staff may not have noticed an extra person arriving at an existing table. I went to the counter and informed them. Despite my repeated attempts to make eye contact, they continued to ignore me so I just walked out.

Our favourite place in Milngavie. Inexpensive, unpretentious and homely - but really great food. One scone is probably enough for 2 served with as much butter as you like. Tea for 3 means a BIG China teapot with plenty of milk too. In the past I’ve had meals and cake ( gingerbread is to die for...) here but today it as just a scone between us. So friendly and pleasant and always a bit of chat particularly if you are there on your own.

The stated vegetable l nail soup they said was vegetarian to eat it and it was evidently made with bacon stock as a lot of lentil is although I did ask for a vegetarian soup. Very disappointed. The decor can also be far too much for children with autism as there is too much stimuli for them. Knowing the fact is supposed to be family friendly. On that fact I witnessed waitresses serve lunch after touching dogs without washing hand she just touched the dog went to pick the plate up take it to people directly after touching the dog very unhygienic and won't be back also when I notified the staff it's made with ham stock she didn't wait around to take an alternative option. It didn't. No bowl of water offered on a hot day, nor any offers of alternatives to eat. Waitress appeared totally disinterested, despite the place being relatively quiet. The retro surroundings and hanging teddy bears were a great turn on for the children. Choice of background music added to a good experience and was not at all intrusive. At the outset the facility looked cramped but in reality there was plenty of room and we were very comfortable. I've walked past this place many times, but went in today as I was looking after my daughter's dog for the day and they advertise as being dog friendly. But that's not going to be my only reason for going in future. The coffee was of a high standard, as was the bacon roll to accompany it - and yes, the dog was welcomed as well. What's more, you get actual table service which is all too rare these days - and reasonable prices. And did I mention the ambience? Definitely different - it reminded me of places I've been in rural locations in the US and Australia, with semi-ramshackle huts full of all the stuff that previous occupants have had over the last hundred years. In Bullands case, it's old movie posters, teddies, a juke box, and tables and chairs and sofas that have obviously seen a bit of history - not because they're worn out, but you can tell from their designs that they weren't fashionable yesterday, or even last week. So if you like quirky, surprising, and different this is your place. And it's clean and spacious and welcoming. What more to say?

Have eaten here many times with my family. The best thing on the menu is the French toast which is the best I've ever had and they don't scrimp with the maple syrup if that's your thing! Also all the soups are really tasty and filling and the Victoria sponge cake is great too. Staff are always welcoming and friendly although some weekend staff can be a bit scatty. The coffee is ok but usually it's made way too hot which burns the milk and your mouth if your not careful so ask for it to be made cooler. They also let in figs which is great and the dogs get a sausage too which is a really nice touch - our dog tries to go in every time we go past. Very child friendly too with toys for kids to play with and a sweetie when your leaving. All in its a great value, lovely, friendly cafe with good grub that will fill you up!

We had often passed by this place without really noticing it when out with our dog but only actually went in after we sadly lost her. Now if you want an interior that was designed in an office for a national chain with a menu you could see in just about every larger town and city on the uk and be served by a staff member wearing a corporate uniform this place is not for you. If you want something that screams community whether that be families with the kids playing with the toys provided along with a bunch of dogs all wanting to say not just hello to each other but you as well. People in cycling gear, walkers. Mismatched tables, chairs cups, glasses, teapots, teddies hanging down from the ceiling. Just a place you can sit back, chill out and enjoy the vibe then you might just wish you had found it years ago and start to love the place. By the way the soups and cakes are wonderful and we love it.

I visited this establishment on the recommendation of friends, who rated it highly, went along late Saturday morning when the July Scottish weather was at its predictable best , i.e. Monsoon season, thought I'd try a little soup n toastie to warm me up for the day , was a few customers in and I noticed, some k9 friends too. The deal for dogs seems to be a free sausage and bowl of water if they behave themselves and no barking, I have no problem with this and indeed enjoy seeing some overly keen pooches strain at their lead to head into this place( obviously regulars I assume) . Anyway food was nice and ambiance of the shop was pleasant, staff friendly and efficient, and I'm sure it's a very popular restaurant/ coffee house for all. Popped in with mum and son. Lovely atmosphere with welcoming staff. We had sandwiches, soup, baked potatoes and paninis and no complaints although son did mention the lentil soup was not as good as his grans, but that could have been for grans benefit! Reasonably priced, will return.

Usually I'll attend and the staff are good at what their doing but from today my visit was appalling. For starters, my friend had a pram and the woman stuck it outside the back. Whilst sitting down it took the staff 25 minutes to come over to even ask if we would like a drink never mind food. Once the order was taken, the food came & the portion size was tiny. For the price of the food I was shocked at the portion that was gave to me. Usually when I attend the portion are reasonable but today was shocking.

Visited here for lunch on cold day with my dog as they say they are dog friendly but when I went to ask for the bill, my dog got anxious and barked a few times, I returned to him immediately to calm him and other diners were smiling and sympathising with him. At this point the waitress who I assume was in charge came and told me it was unacceptable to have a dog barking in there and that she would be reported to health and safety, she did it in quite a loud manner so everyone could here, maybe they have had issues before but it made me feel very embarrassed and uncomfortable especially as the dog had stopped barking as soon as I had returned to him.I left shortly afterwards and have not and will to return.

I feel a bit sad writing this review as I found this wee place a few years ago and it was really nice and had a great relaxed atmosphere . On visiting the area this year we decided to go in for a bit of lunch. The smell on entering is something else , I should've turned back there and then , but remembered that the food was really good so went on in. Clearly the waitress/owner wasn't the friendliest , perhaps she was having a bad day , but we waited 15minutes to get served without so much as a smile . We awaited around 20minutes for our burnt lunch to appear which once the burnt parts were scraped off , was very bland . The general image of the place has gone from relaxed and quirky to just generally cluttered and unclean . The lukewarm bottle of milk on each table is somewhat off putting too- how long has that been out for?!

I might be biased since I visit very often, but this is THE BEST breakfast anywhere, and amazing value as a takeaway as well. After all, there is a reason I go so regularly. Brilliant!

An excellent choice of soup and cake on offer at very reasonable prices. The only downside were the dogs, but that is personal, I really don't like dogs.

I like the vibe of this place, it's very chilled & quirky. The decor is very 'grannies living room' but I like that about it. It does a good coffee & the breakfast is second to none. I've been in a few times & different times of the day & must say I prefer breakfast to lunch. It can get extremely busy which makes it quite cramped but as long as you are happy to kick back & aren't in a hurry then that's not a problem. I wouldn't say it's the place to go to grab something quick, but then they do do takeaway. I've tried a few things on the breakfast menu, the full breakfast definitely hits the spot but the French toast is a close runner up! The carrot cake is also delish! Fantastic hidden gem that Ive only discovered in the past year, but know I'll continue to visit for a long time.

Must be getting old! We used to meet friends and family for dinner, now it's for breakfast. Bullands is now our local favourite as we can meet my brothers with their dog. Yes, Bullands allow dogs into the restaurant and also provide sausage and drinks for the dogs. The full breakfast is excellent with other favourites being the French toast and scrambled eggs. My wife likes the fact that you can get a pot of tea and are never rushed. My only gripe is that the hot drinks are delivered to your table too long before the food arrives but this is a small issue. Would recommend this place to walkers and dog owners

We eat here often. I love it and its quirky and welcoming. They have great food and the staff are always friendly. It can get a bit busy and quite packed and if you're coming here with a buggy/pram it can be a bit tricky. That said they have plenty of toys for kids. It's a great place to come and do work over a cuppa or meet with family and friends. The decor is elecptic but it adds to the cool atmosphere of this place

Very relaxed and friendly venue for a nice breakfast or lunch. Coffee and cakes are the main reasons to come here, soups also nice. Scones are especially good - absolutely massive in size and well fired. Id say the best scones Ive had anywhere and with a little jam they taste superb. Highly recommended! Its dog friendly and you often get people bring their best friends along with them, personally Im not a fan of animals in an eatery (although I do love dogs) but other customers seem to approve so there you go.

Been going here regularly for a few years. Breakfast very good. Soup & sandwich also great. Very disappointed on last visit - mac cheese lacked taste & was like a packet mix! Had also run out of rolls - burger served in bread & chips were more like potato wedges.

A nice place for an evening meal. There was four in our party and we were seated promptly and served drinks quickly. A short review of a wonderfully limited but connected menu and we all picked the same dish with variations. The haggis bons bons were the bomb! As was the tempura prawn.
