Sat with wife outside near the water which was great to have a beer on a sunny day. Staff seemed friendly enough.

Without doubt, THE best drinking establishment in Dartmouth! Always a warm welcome, good service and excellent beer at a fair price! The Crab doesn't do food but they welcome customers bringing their own food - all they ask is that you buy a drink! Visit The Crab once and, without doubt, you'll be back!

Nice terrace by the harbour, lovely with a bright sun. Excellent beers. Café itself is beautiful turquoise and white with a lot of atmosphere

Only sat in the sun directly in front of building. Comfortable chairs and tables. Smoking permitted no ash trays provided. BYOF. We had chips from local chippy. Along with a lager and a coffee - we ordered our drinks inside, average price. They have large seating area cordoned off located opposite main building on promenade. Great when weather is good. Cannot rate inside or toilets.

It gets two stars for the location. Beyond that there is nothing worthy of recommendation. Being g made to feel an inconvenience, on a very quiet midweek lunch is not a good sign.

Really enjoyed it, I'm sure I'll return to Dartmouth and won't hesitate to return one day.

Great position for a drink overlooking the estuary. Looks fine on the outside but inside leads much to be desired. I was there Friday and the bar man was a little tipsy. .A few drug dealers outside i was offered cocaine twice..

Popped in for a cooling beer on a hot day. Friendly service, comfortable surroundings so I had another. Google tells me I've been here before 5 years ago so it can't be bad :-)

Hostile environment. Feels like it’s trying to be much more “upmarket” than it needs to be. It may be nicer when it’s busier, but couldn’t really tell if the atmosphere is always unpleasant or just bad on a quiet day.

Rude staff, completely empty with no atmosphere and loud, trashy music.

Not the best. My drink tasted weak for some reason. Not a very big selection of gins and not very generous with their mixers

It's a pub, nothing fancy but the staff are friendly, drinks are good and the view is amazing. We stumbled across it yesterday and went back today and will visit again before we leave

Lady was quite rude and unpleasant, wouldn’t return.

Ordered an offshore lager (premium) was served a carling. Attention to detail poor. Doesn't seem to be a way to reply to owners below comment. I am absolutely certain it was Carling.

Called in on a very busy lunchtime and was greeted by a charming friendly enthusiastic lady The Crab is in a superb position overlooking the River Dart, not an extensive menu but just right for light lunch nice pint of beer and staff that cannot do enough for you

Great location, but G&T served outside in a plastic glass with warm tonic. At £9 (for a double) not getting my vote, sorry.

I visited this pub on a day out in Dartmouth with my wife,young son and another family of 3. Terrible service from the off with the waitress shouting at me for using the toilet inside. She then took our order as if it were a chore for her, without so much as a please or thank you. Bought the drinks without a word and then complained at the end when we wanted to pay cash. We overheard her talking to other customers in the same rude manner, and she was making it difficult for a disabled customer who wanted to sit inside the pub. I would never go back to this place and would recommend others to try somewhere else should they visit.

great place boss or barman first class on his own as a lot of publicans have to do to make a living. Yes you have to wait but if you go abroad you do there and except that so we need to in this country we are the only nation that stand at a bar. We need to change must congratulate the person who server us today at around 3pm

We were visiting Dartmouth as part of a day out on the steam railway from Paignton. Having explored the town we were looking for a bite to eat and came upon the Bucket and Crab bar. The welcome was warm and efficient and we were given a table in the window. We chose the crab roll, and were not disappointed. The lady behind the bar said that they are caught by a father and son team, and the mum does the picking of the crabs. The rolls were super soft and fresh and the crab delicious. Would definitely recommend for a light lunch bite.

We sat outside in their seating area on the water front. You go in to the pub to order your drinks at a station by the door. They then prepare your drinks and bring them to you to take out to your table. All covid policies are being followed and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The drinks are served in plastic outside but we well kept and very enjoyable.

Excellent atmosphere, great location. Really friendly landlord here with advice on local walks and things to do. A good selection of beers and cider. Just a shame Wales lost in the six nations. Ah well...

Arriving in Dartmouth after walking from Brixham in the rain, we needed a warm pub, with a warm welcome...and that's what we got. We had a couple of pints and watched the rugby....excellent.

Fun sports pub on the quayside. Great atmosphere to watch England spank Ireland 57-15 in Rugby World Cup 2019 warmup game! :-). Friendly staff and local punters.

An okay pub just by the river with a few bits of sporting memorabilia inside. Drinks are reasonably priced for the area. The service is pretty prompt and the staff reasonable friendly. The toilets had see better days though. Overall it is either classed as "shabby chique" or it really could do with a bit of s revamp..

Really friendly atmosphere with great staff and regulars. Good for a quick drink and a chat or a nice crab sandwich. You can spend the whole day there watching the sport and sharing banter.

Nice welcome, very clean and well run. Very attentive and drinks were reasonably priced for a Harbourside pub. Toilets were very clean and the food was fab. Seating outside in the sunshine was lovely, just the place to chill out

Avoid this disgrace of a pub. the older male bartender is a vulgar and aggressive man , who yells profanities and racial slurs to customers and tourists. Me and my family who are Visiting from out of town were verbally abused and threatened by this man who then went on to chase us down the street and yell at my Spanish wife to speak and learn English . A hostile and unfriendly pub for any visitors to Dartmouth.

Nice pub, friendly staff and locals, good choice of football coverage, nice draught cider. Annoying paying £3.40 for a pint of lemonade though.

Try and get a seat outside in the summer and take in the views over the river. We always order the crab sandwiches which are always fresh and very tasty. Other sandwiches are available.

Crab sandwiches were lush. We were there on a sunny day so sat outside. It's a bar with a small lunch menu. Everything was good.

Stopped here for a beer and a sandwich one lunchtime in Dartmouth. for us it was a pleasant change a good old style basic local pub. Nothing fancy, basic sandwich menu, and pork pies which suited us. Generally had got fed up with Dartmouth's over priced, over fancy restaurants s was just what we wanted. We got good value, service, and food. Yes it's a local's place but we got a friendly welcome and if it's too basic for you plenty of overpriced options nearby.

Great pub on South embankment. Sports bar feel full of locals. Offers happy hour with reduced beer prices from 4-7 on certain days.

This is a good pub for a drink or two. It seems to be the locals choice and it offers a wide range of refreshments and lots of different gins. Whoever set this place up as it is now was obviously an avid fan of rugby and boxing or the amazing collection on display was strategic in its resourcing (probably with Welsh connections) it's a great place.

OK it's a pub and clearly aimed at the locals. You can't blame them for they are clearly their bread and butter. But the idea of dogs walking around free when there's food around is hardly palatable, and the beer wasn't that good either.
