During our holiday as a family, we decided to have a walk to this lovely rural pub . The oweners are very polite and welcoming and my boys say it the best Coke they have ever had lol. The pub has more to offer then what you can expect with clean toilets and beautiful laid settings around ,plus the top deck outside as plenty of books ,blankets , woodfire etc for you if you just want to sit back and Relax and enjoy the scenery around . When we go again we will try the food. Can't wait !!

This pub was highly recommended by family and friends so decided to book a table for my wife's birthday. On arrival our drinks order was taken and we were shown to our table. Good menu choice however we were informed that some items had sold out due to a large party earlier......not a problem. My wife and I both ordered the veg soup which was absolutely delicious along with the fresh rustic bread. Sunday roast again was delicious with myself going for the beef and my wife opting for lamb....only gripe was there wasn't enough of the delicious vegetables. Definitely be recommending and will definitely be back

This place came highly recommended and I really cannot see why. The whole experience and quality of food was very average. 2 of the party had chicken roasts (chicken was good by the way), 1 had cheese pie and I had chicken curry. My curry had obviously been quickly reheated as the pieces of chicken were very chewy and tough. 1 roast potato for each of the roasts, yes 1. Service needs working on I highlighted that my nine year old had been given an adult portion and was told “well we do 3 sizes” ???????? Needless to say she left the majority of the food. Took ages to take our order too and surprisingly empty at the time. We won’t be going back.

The beef baguette with chips and gravy was a meal in itself, stuffed with delicious melt in the mouth beef. We stayed in the caravan site next door and wandered down for lunch. Lovely pub with great outdoor seating in the middle of the countryside. The pleasant bar maid informed us of the pub quiz, singer and bingo on over the weekend.

After a day in Malham we passed sign for this place. We decided to stop in for some food and were so glad we did. Food was stunning, best suet pudding I’ve ever had; and the portion sizes were so generous. Service was outstanding: and the staff certainly deserve serious praise! Options for gluten free and dairy free too. I can’t recommend this place highly enough

We went for a drive, nowhere I particular but hoping to find a nice country pub. Saw a sign for The Buck Inn and followed it to a great little pub. Plenty of seating outside, with chickens just wandering around. Food was really tasty, staff friendly and views lively. Just what you want from a country pub. I'd definitely recommend it.

We arrived late due to a navigation error (mine) and were still met with a warm and friendly smile. I also had not realised dogs were not allowed in for dining (also my mistake) but the very kind lady with short blond hair suggested we have our drinks outside and order and that they call us in when the food is ready. This all went extremely smoothly, the food came out super hot and was absolutely delicious. As you can see, we all had clean plates which is testament to the chef! Among the meals was the king prawn curry, chicken chorizo and mushroom, steak and ale pudding, fish and chips and cod in sauce. All meals were superb, the right amount of sauce/veg/chips, everything was top notch. Feeding a table of 9 including 5 children is no easy task but it is safe to say every mouthful was a huge success. The staff were friendly and kind, patient and efficient, the food and drinks were very reasonable, we all had a lovely evening, huge thanks to all the staff for your hard work.

Pulled in for refreshments and had a Sunday lunch. Beef for meine Frau, Pork for me.Delicious! In a beautiful, wild country location, a delightful Landlady who makes you doubly welcome and good food; what more could you want?I hoped to see Game on the menu or Duck at least because they are quick and easy to pan fry/flash roast but sadly, no. This does not detract from the food on offer, just a personal hope for a pub surrounded by nature. Game Pie...., mmmmn!!!Even the music was good!!!!I look forward to my next visit but being thirty miles away, it won't be every week.

Found this lovely pub after a day at Malham Cove and we were genuinely surprised at the tasty fresh food on offer here. Staff are really friendly and welcoming and made an effort with all their guests and considering it was a Wednesday teatime , the place soon filled up. We had vegetable soup and chicken pakoras for starters which were very tasty. Next, our son had the burger which was clearly home made and so juicy. My husband had large battered cod and chips which was fresh and I had the homemade steak and ale pudding which was delicious; the steak was so tender it was falling apart. We didn’t have any room for desserts- mostly because the meals were so filling but we’ll definitely put this place on the list to visit again.

We went for Sunday lunch three weeks ago. The service was excellent and all staff very friendly. However my beef was so tough it was inedible, I couldn't even cut it, the one roast potato was also disappointing as it was not crispy and quite greasy. I told the waitress and the lady at the bar who both said they were sorry. I have eaten here before in the evening and it has been fine, maybe it was just a bad day. We decided to give The Buck a try on spec. The welcome was efficient and pleasant and the food, presented without an undue wait, was excellent in every respect. There were downsides however, particularly the noise. Being holiday time there were many children around, so this prevented the meal being an opportunity to fully enjoy the surroundings. That said, this pub serves a purpose, in that it clearly caters for the needs of the many residents of the static caravan park up the road and succeeds as a result.

The breads were full to overflowing, the beef came with a separate gravy boat. Both were lovely and so filling. we both really enjoyed our lunch. It is obviously a popular spot as it was filling up quickly, looking at the food other diners were eating, all looked good. Helpful and welcoming staff sorted out a table in the dining room whilst we sat in the bar with a drink and a menu.Going thro,to the dining room we were soonserved with our meals. Both were fine with generous helpings. We did finish with a desert which was very good. The pub does not have an extensive menu but there is more than sufficient choice and everything which was being served looked very nice.Overall a pleasant dining experience but not memorable, as the title it's an unpretentious country pub but with very friendly staff.

Called in on a cold wet afternoon, not sure if they would still be serving, but I was just in time at 2.30. Choice of sitting in bar or restaurant, all comfortable and warm. Friendly and attentive service. There are a couple of steps at the front entrance with no handrail, not sure if there is an alternative access. Nice and warm. Reasonably varied menu, though not particularly extensive. Special, maybe just for lunchtime, was cod and chips with mushy peas, which was under £7 and very good.

We were a party of five and we all enjoyed the food at the Buck. Fish, lasagne, chicken & gammon stack, pork steaks and cheese pie were all tasty and filling, although vegetarian options are limited. Our table was near the door (lots of comings and goings) and its 'island position' meant that there was heavy traffic with customers and staff passing by - so not the best table in the house. We would return for the food but request a table with better position.

We called at the Buck on Sunday for tea, the place was very busy, we were greeted warmly & asked if we were dining, the menu's were given, we ordered a drink at the bar & were then shown to our table. The starter of Pate arrived quickly & was very tasty, we all chose roast beef & we certainly were not disappointed, very nice & excellent value! We will be returning soon!

We were staying close by and had read mainly good reviews, so booked a table for Saturday night. The staff were lovely and friendly, service was very good, serving the meals for all eight of us together, all hot and well prepared. Too stuffed for puddings, we'll have to go back sometime!

A short time ago I picked up a business card on The Buck Country Pub elsewhere. I looked the pub up and viewed the website. I also visited Trip Advisor and found reviews very favourable. My wife and I called on a Friday lunch time. My wife settled for the cod and chips with mushy peas and I went for the Hotpot which was featured as one of the day's Specials. The pub appeared to be quite busy for a cold winter's day. The premises appeared very homely and the staff were most pleasant. I was so looking forward to the lamb hotpot. My first thoughts on the dish being served to our table was "what a large dish - there is enough for two here." All the food being served appeared to be generous portions. The hotpot was topped with a couple of layers of thinly sliced potato, which were not browned. They looked pale. On sampling the potato I found they were severely undercooked. I was in a quandry. I have never had occasion to send a meal back ever, but felt I had to inform the management. The dish was returned to the kitchen and the lady who was front of house returned to our table and apologised. I was given the option of either waiting a further twenty minutes for the dish to be cooked properly or to order a different dish, which I did, following my wife's choice of cod and chips. A gentleman, probably Steve, joint owner, then came to our table and further apologised. He confirmed the hotpot was not cooked properly and would speak to the chef. I thanked him for his concern. My replacement dish was quickly served. My wife and I found the cod and chips ok, excellent value but we have sampled better battered cod. I would have liked to have given a higher rating but I can only relate my experience on that particular day. I feel it 's an exception rather than the rule. I cannot understand how my hotpot was allowed out of the kitchen when grossly undercooked. I feel the management genuinely regretted the incident.

At long last we have visited this lovely country pub,and we was not disappointed ,very warm welcome warm atmosphere with a lovely open log fire . The beer was well kept and very smooth. The reason for the visit it was my wife's birthday (she is very particular) she loved it ,and we have been to a lot of local eateries. The food was first class and very reasonabley priced. We will be back again in the very near future.Well done Buck Country Pub.

This family owned pub/restaurant is a jewel in the crown of the Ribble Valley. Rachael and Steve provide a lovely warm welcome with good old fashioned home cooking which never fails to satisfy. You will never go home hungry from the Buck Country Pub.

Awful food. After seeing the Facebook page and video of the food I booked a table for 2 on Monday evening. On arrival staff very friendly, we were given hand written menus, we ordered our food. The food reminded me of school dinners, lumpy mash and swede, the side dish to accompany the lamb shank was deep fried cauliflower! Not sure if that was left over from Sunday lunch the day before. My husband had fish and chips, both were pale and I could have done better from my own freezer at home, nothing home cooked about them. After travelling 30 mile round trip on a frosty night, we were very disappointed. Nothing like the promotional video! Will not be returning or recommending!

We were staying at a holiday cottage across the road so this was a natural choice. We were made so welcome by all the staff - the customer service was excellent. We suspected the portions were huge so just went for mains. We all loved our food which was top quality. Very reasonably priced. Thanks for a lovely evening, all.

We have just spent a week at Paythorne visiting family in Skipton and walking in the beautiful surrounding country side. We ate at the Buck 3 times during last week and I must say that Rachel and the team made us feel most welcome. There was no issue with our rather large (well behaved dog) and the Children were very well catered for and even got involved with a game of pool with a few locals .The food was great well cooked tasty British pub fare, I am a stickler that if we eat in a pub and you get real chips you allways know the food will be good and I was not wrong. The home made pies were to die for, the kids ate chicken and the lasagna and loved it, the whole ambiance was bang o the money for a great country pub. Thank you Rachel and the guys for the warm hospitality and great food , next time we are in the area We are definitely popping in so make sure your Cheese and Onion pies are in and ready to go :-)

After a long day walking in Settle with our 8 and 5 year old, we spotted a sign off the main road and decided to drive up as we had a long drive home and were all hungry. We were a bit unsure if we would get a table, as it was tea time, and a Sunday, my husband nipped in and asked, and was told no problem and to come in.Staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely lovely, just what was needed after our long day.The Sunday roast was 2 two courses for £9.95 and I can't fault it.We will definitely be back.

We happened on this eating establish quite by chance on our way up to the Lakes via the scenic route. It was Friday lunch and filled with a day trip of OAP's it seemed who were all waiting for their fish and chip lunches.Bar staff said we would have approx 20 min wait so we ordered drinks and our snack lunches.Three of us went for hot baguettes, mine roast beef with onion gravy, a pulled pork one and a cheese and ham. Chips to accompany and a sharing platter of liver pate and chutneys which was devoured by one person! Food was hot and tasty and generous portions. Will definitely eat here again

Lovely place with stunning views and hosted by Jonathan and Fran who are the most welcoming people. Bed and breakfast for one night only but we felt like we were visiting close family. We would highly recommend a stay here.

An excellent full English breakfast prepared with quality ingredients and prepared to perfection. A very friendly and professional staff team. The farm shop is a delight with an excellent range of products. The butchery and bakery departments are outstanding.

We sometimes visit Clitheroe midweek during the day. A pub crawl is the usual way to go, but this time, after the first pint we decided to have another. We stayed for six and on heading to the bus stop, we had only been to one pub. Why did we stay all afternoon? It was the friendliness of not just the staff, but the other customers all offering interesting content to a rolling discussion ranging from the beers to where each of us lived / grew up etc .... The barmaid (it was her first day) pulled a great pint too. In my experience of both pubs and people, this is rare. I nearly forgot to mention the prices. Cheaper than most places and two of the beers offered at just £3 a pint.
