King Street Kitchen in Ribble Valley

Excellent steak frites, excellent service. Best meal we’ve had out for a long time. I don’t usually write reviews but this was well worth it

A second visit in a relatively short time. Again we were a bit last minute in getting an early evening weekend table in this small bistro. Again front of house very professional and welcoming. This time there was a piri piri prawn starter and, for GF, a goats cheese. Can only comment on the prawns which were very good, though I’d have liked 1 or 2 more for the price. GF stuck to the steak frites and, once I’d hinted enough to try some, I found it was flavoursome and the fries were great. I went for the turkey roast which was excellent. No room for desserts. Nice drinks whatever we chose. A cut above the other options in Whalley.

Visited the restaurant for Sunday lunch and enjoyed two perfect starters, two lovely roast mains, one cheese plate and a dessert .... all absolutely delicious and the service, as always, was top class. King Street Kitchen ticks all the boxes in our opinion and we are looking forward very much to our next visit !!

Disappointed to say the least with our visit. The food being totally honest was OK, but nothing special, the service however from the proprietor was poor. The starters were OK & we all ordered steak for the main. The steak comes with a portion of mushrooms, a portion of potatoes & a tomato. I politely asked if I could not have the mushrooms, the potatoes or the tomato & instead have "whatever veg chef has got plainly cooked" as I wanted to keep my meal healthy. I was told I had to choose sides? I repeated again that I 'm really not bothered at all which veg I get (I like all veg) as long as it plainly cooked but was again told I had to choose sides so I chose the green beans & my partner chose carrots. Our steaks arrived, looking rather sad, sat on a plate by itself with two separate little bowls of vegetables (I presume this was to justify the extra costs of the £5 each for veg) Both veg were covered in a greasy sweet sauce - Pic attached of one of them I did try eating the greasy veg but they were not pleasant, especially after I specifically asked twice for plain veg. We then asked for a cafetiere of coffee which was brought to us with a small bowl of brown & white sugar sachets & we commented that there didn't appear to be enough white sugar sachets to which we got the reply "don't worry, there is plenty of brown sugar" really 🤷‍♂️ The bill arrived and the small bowls of greasy veg were charged at £5 each even though they were not what we asked for & surely if we were not having the mushrooms, the potatoes or the tomato then why would you charge an extra £5 for a portion of green beans? Our experience was a very small menu choice, average food with poor service, we will not be going back

A bit of a date night after a manic time. Had never been here before despite moving into the area. A small bistro in Whalley Main Street with a lovely ambiance/lighting and a quality small menu. The main waiter (owner?) was professional and helpful. We ended up with 3 excellent courses each. For me a baked prawn/chorizo/tomato combo and GF mushrooms that involved cheese. Both excellent and we asked for bread to mop up the sauces. Then it was a steak frites with aspen fries for GF and chicken escalope with peas and lettuce in a cream sauce for me. Lovely. Couldn’t resist a dessert or two. So it was a crème brûlée and a treacle tart with lemon meringue ice cream. Loved them both. A couple of bottled beers and a couple of large red wines later it was time to go. Bill around £110 before service charge which, in these times, was reasonable for high quality food. This was an early Friday evening as nothing available later when trying to book 24 hours in advance so probably book a bit further out for next time. Because there will be a next time. Personally wish they did a fillet (rib eye seems the standard).

My wife and I were a 10-day break in the Forest of Bowland and stopped here on our way back from Barley. Glad we did as the food was really excellent. Ticks all of my boxes - not trying to be too clever - just well chosen, fresh ingredients cooked really well. Even though it was a bit of a drive from where we were staying, we came back a few days later. Over the two visits we had the salmon and dill, salads, olives as starters. The cod, and the hake dishes for mains (and swapped each visit). Then the treacle tart was so good the first time, we had it again 2nd visit. Sublime. Probably won't drive the 200 miles from home just to visit again, but next time we are anywhere near it will be a must. If we lived nearer it would be our 'go to' eaterie.

Attracted by the sarnies but sadly not available on Sunday ! So we ordered the excellent salmon starter. Flavoured with gin I think. Beautifully done. And some chips. And some bread. Hey presto ! Service was great throughout. Convivial atmosphere and great decor. Seats were v comfy !

Come here often as it’s a firm favourites with lots of my friends who visit. Most recently came with friends to celebrate an engagement - the food is consistently a 10/10, the French onion soup is a must, always attentive service and great value for money! A must visit!!

This restaurant is set in the centre of the Whalley and is really welcoming with a great atmosphere. We started with the French Onion Soup ... a classic soup I remember well from catering college. The soup is a timeless classic and it was executed to perfection. We had steak and fries for the main course which was cooked on point. We shared a treacle tart for dessert which was delicious. The wine was superb as well, which had been recommended by the team. Fantastic service with exceptional food. Following this visit I took a team from work who had a great night!! Cant wait for my next visit later this month

Picked Whalley as a half way point to meet a friend. Not been before. Boy am I glad I picked this restaurant. We arrived at 6pm. The place was packed by 7pm. Chose the chicken livers and tuna as starters and the piggy salad to share for the main. Followed by treacle tart and crème brûlée. It was absolutely and utterly fantastic. Every last bit of it. Great buzz and Maurice and the staff were great. Wished I lived nearer too. It would be my go to place. Definitely recommend. It was approx £100 for two with a bottle of Rose but well worth it. 😀

Fantastic all round 10/10 Three of us dined on a Friday afternoon for my mates birthday, we had two prawn dishes and the liver for starters which was beautiful then all had the croque madam which was delicious. Look forward to going again

A really good mid week lunch. Friendly service and good value. Delicious food. Good wine and coffee. Nobody hurried us.

We had a nice lunch last week. My husband really enjoyed the steak. I had the chicken liver starter which was very tasty. I had the fish mains but I found it a bit underwhelming as it was served on its own with no potato or vegetables. Next time I will try something else

I’m sorry I don’t live closer as I would visit every month, without question. One of the most memorable meals I’ve had. The food was superb, the staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was great.

You would be hard pressed to not be impressed here. They get everything absolutely right. Great menu, great service, really good food and a sense that the rolls working here really care about what they serve up and what you think about it. As good an English restaurant as I’ve been to in a long time
