Buchanan Gate Brewers Fayre in North Lanarkshire

Abusive PCN: I was not even aware that there was parking restriction in place, went with my 2 young kids under 5s and ended up receiving a very menacing PCN for a third party provider; been somehow of a regular customer attending multiple kids bday parties and taking my family for a nice lunch out, enjoying the soft play facilities, but would think twice moving forward before coming back.

As usual, this is one of our favourite places my kids love to go. My daughter chose to celebrate her birthday with her friend and family. Food to dye for great quality and portions. The kids love playing outdoors playgrounds, and they also have indoor activities for a small fee. Defo recommend this place great for families.

Deborah that works in the play area was a fantastic host. Service with a smile and she was great with my kids. Very friendly and she also made the perfect pint definitely better than the manager Donald I'd say. Shame she is getting put out a job because she's just amazing.

Great soft play, nice big restaurant, terrible service. We've been twice with the intention of getting food but left after just drinks because the queue for ordering was so long and barely moving. They seem to be permanently under staffed. It's a shame, we'd go more often if they could get that sorted.

Went for a carvery on Easter Sunday staff we're very pleasant got seated right away. Yvonne the Chef was very friendly and accommodating, nice relaxing atmosphere. We'll definitely be back great value for money

Hi we stay on PI all this last 4 Easter bank holiday, food is good but the barmen he have last Friday night is very rude and no respect at all for the customer! Never have any employee replay back to the customer like that young man!! Is not acceptable!!! So we the decide don’t eat the rest of our holiday on that restaurant because of his behaviour on Friday !!

Breakfast buffet somehow managed to make all cooked items taste the same. Cold, dirty plates presented as clean. Lukewarm food. Just not good enough.

We went into this restaurant today , registered our car reg . Stood waiting to be seated for a good 5 minutes , it was not busy at all , no staff in sight , we chapped on the bar , still no staff appeared , we waited a further 2 minutes then we walked out in disgust , very bad customer service is that . We will defo not be back , and will not be recommending it to anyone

I'm so sorry to say but i was very dissapointed. The food was cold and not good either. I was really hoping it would be a lot better I in all honesty can't recommend this place.

Kids menu not great and neither is the quality of the food. Hardly any staff. No cutlery, dirty tables. Overpriced standard pub food. Charge for using the soft play too. Doubt I'd go back

Tells you it’s open until 10pm , turn up at 8:30pm to be told the kitchen is closed , need to make this a bit clearer online as now a parked up lorry driver with no options to get a meal Very poor , attitude of what looked like the manager was stinking , bigger built woman

Went recently for lunch and there were only two servers on for the restaurant which meant they were run off their feet. One fryer is still broken so they can't do fish, it's been like this for months. Main issue was that apparently the gas went out and they didn't tell us when we placed our order. We waited over an hour and a half before having to chase up our food. No discount was offered, not good service.

Painfully slow service at the bar needs more staff just because you have a captive audience from the hotel that doesn't mean you waste there time

Great pub grub & friendly atmosphere. Also a fab play area for the kids indoor and outdoor.

Went today with a friend and had the festive menu. The portion was huge and the food was lovely. We had turkey with all the trimmings and profiteroles afterwards. It was £14.99 each and we were stuffed! Would recommend.

Absolutely disgusted by this place staff verbally abusive to customers ruined a birthday cake (staff told 3x how to do it) beer lines hadn't been cleaned a child was given wrong food that had an egg allergy staff knew this. No one could give us head office number they just googled a number online and there was no general manager on site to deal with this!😡

Carvery very good. Staff were excellent but big Q as only one serving. But all round great lunch.

After being served a barely warm fish & chips. The manager placed her hand on top of my food and says. Oh it feels quite warm on the outside, and then asked if I,d like it changed, just a point don't place your hands on someone's food,bloody disgusting. Having agreed to have the dish replaced my new fish & Chips was horrific ( batter cooked on outside) but the fish was frozen on the inside, she then went on to blame the fish supplier (I'd have started with the chef) I was there in a group of 6 (birthday party ) so to recap if you like undercooked, RAW FOOD and an overly apologetic manager, then the brewers fayre stepps is right up your street 17.30 group 19th Oct 2023 Patrick

Horrendous experience, staff tried their best but completely understaffed. Food took well over an hour to arrive, no clean cutlery and food average at best. Sort yourselves out brewers fayre and give your staff a chance!!

Staff need to smile &not be rude kitchen manager especially....Got dessert &there was half a flake in my ice-cream....costumer care needs a lot to be desired especially when your being told if you don't want it don't eat it had to have main meal heated up

The staff are friendly and the food is tasty yet inexpensive. The atmosphere is friendly and the decor is classy and cosy. Its the perfect place to go wether to relax and sample their breakfast buffet or have a classy dinner and it even has a soft play area and a jungle gym and some claw machines for the kids. Its amazing and i highly recommend

I stay at the hotel and come in for drinks and food and there are certain staff that stand out always smiling and always happy to help one of the is Gemma she is always under pressure but always smiles and happy to help thank you Gemma

Have been a few times but wouldn't go back. The few staff that were on were lovely but they couldn't manage everything. Having to go into the same queue to order just a drink or the food was madness. There should have been at least 2 separate queues.

Been coming here for years and it's just gradually got worse and worse every visit. I don't think I will be back. Daytime meal deal is good value for money but I would never pay full menu price it's not worth it. Always understaffed. Unclean. Shame as it used to be great.

One of worst experience ever well not be back. honestly I would advise people avoid this brewers fayre. We booked a Table booked for 10 people 1 with Anaphylaxis now Staff where told about this and the requirements need To avoid to any issues but yet they think it’s ok to not to take advice give in regards to meal requirements. service are ignoring everyone and seem to be hiding somewhere in the back. the staff where just dressed in Casual clothes so very hard to who actually know worked there Very rude staff, and very unhelpful and very unprofessional also tattoos should be covered when the Offensive to other people and but yet the staff think it ok Management really needs to have visitors pop in to see this need fix this. This completely unacceptable for family restaurant Unfortunately I will not be returning to restaurant and will also be contact there head office in regards to the matters. Only given one star because it’s a requirement for feedback there should be a - star button for this kind of thing

Excellent service, welcoming and warm team and great quality food. We were served by Chloe (who couldn't have done more) but all team members were first class!

Tonight is my worst experience ever staying 3 nights in the Premier Inn and had dinner in brewers fayre. Table booked for 6 pm, and believe it or not, at 19.39, they eventually got dessert. Staff are ignoring everyone and seem to be hiding somewhere in the back. Very rude staff, my dessert came with an explanation, "here" Only 2 more nights to endure being ignored and having unpleasant staff serve me. Nixt time I book Premier inn I will eat elsewhere Management really needs to fix this. The place was not even busy at 6pm. Unfortunately for me I paid for 3 meals in advance,so I have to go through it all again😳

Food is great here its ideal with children

Shocking experience. Went in with my family(wife and little boy) seemed like a nice place amd food looked good. Waited ages to get served . That's OK they are clearly understaffed. I got served from a lovely girl. Would like to say manager of some form as was dressed differently but she was great. Then it went down hill food took forever to come think we waited 40 mins and wasn't overly busy. My son was starving and now tired too. I had to ask were it was. Ours was look warm his was hot which is fine. Had to ask if we could get desserts to go so we could bed my son. They then took a further 15 mins. The staff on floor weren't the most friendly. The host she was also great she was really busy didn't see her stop at all. But rest need to take lessons from the two that were doing all the work. Was a waste of money and I'm at the hotel for few nights but will eat else were.

Nice staff.... Two out of three tills out of service so longer wait.....staff worked hard to make sure that everyone was attended to. Nice family atmosphere... .....weather was also beautiful and sunny so added to the overall impression. The Food was delicious and well presented. I would definitely stop there again when passing through.

Great wee soft play for children. However it was £7 extra to allow children in. Not a lot of choice i liked within budget price

Merkt euch die Tischnummer bestellt Getränke euer Essen und bezahlt .Getränke könnt ihr gleich mitnehmen. Wenn man das weiß läuft der Rest von selbst. Uns hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Lg Luisa

We use this establishment if we're going into Glasgow for a concert. It's on the outskirts of the city at Stepps, just off the Motorway (M80) with parking facilities

Stayed at the premier inn next and used the meal deal.

It is a nice enough restaurant, serves the next door premier Inn. Prices are reasonable, and the quality matches. The staff we saw are friendly but run off their feet. The restaurant was steady but not busy. They clearly could have used another member of staff.

I had a party of 6 booked in at 4.15pm which was relatively quiet time to dine. We ordered food by half past 4. The starters were there within 15 minutes but no one came to retrieve the plates leaving us for 1 hour waiting on mains. Very disappointing, I shouldn't need to chase a hostess to clear the table I am sitting at when it was very evident we had finished. One of the party ordered the chicken tikka curry and had commented he had eaten better ready meals. Fast forward 2 hours past our booked in time we were still eating and waiting for a dessert that we were just to tired to even want but we had paid for . Not even a slight apology. Would not return. Not the first bad experience but after a year thought we would give a second chance, more fool us.

Disappointing visit. We go quite often but today wasn't good. Short staffed, slow service, didn't have full range of beers, one of our meals was lukewarm. Finally, we were given a wine glass that wasn't clean and the replacement was no better. At least we got our money back for the wine and an apology, but it was overall not a great experience.

Food was awful and expensive, staff were very nice

I have never complained or refused my meal. But this food was appalling. Left me and my friend heaving, we stayed here for work so it was all paid for not like we were trying to get our money back. Fish and chips were like soapy cardboard as if they gave us all the scraps that had fallen off. The breakfast was foul I had to resort to cereal. Fizzy drinks were flat service just everything you can imagine was disgusting. Would not recommend.

Food is just ok. Service was terrible. After 20 minutes wait, main didn’t come and we had to stand and find a waiter to get the main and then the same experience for the dessert

Dining area was well-lit and clean, however ordering at the bar to find one of the starters was not available entailed having to return to the table to ascertain an alternative. The starter of garlic & herb mushrooms was rock-hard. The salad was a generous proportion but on a too-small plate resulting in salad spilling onto the table. Service was slow both for ordering and delivery to table. There was a reasonable selection of drinks and good to be able to access unlimited water.

Was in for carvery yesterday the chef was very helpful and food was fresh! Not like other carvery places nearby , staff were very attentive , girl ‘helena’ on the bar was a breath of fresh air , fast service and always smiling ! Well done we had a very pleasant meal. Will definatly be returning

Disappointed to find it closed at 9:15pm on Monday. I stay at the Premier Inn so I can eat late when I arrive but because I didn't know I had to go to sleep hungry. I'll stay at another hotel next time.

Have been here on numerous occasions with Husband, Brother & Sister in law , no problems. Arrived at 7.30 after booking and not allowed to sit in restaurant area , as they want to set up for breakfast , its 7.30pm for goodness sake !!! Directed to area with kids, nothing against kids , but not ideal when you want to have a conversation over dinner so had to sit in bar area. Very slow service .

I didn't particularly enjoy the jam Roly poly but that was more about my taste than the food. Staff were excellent.

Visited today for the first time in a few years....Will definitely not be back again. You know what you're getting when you go to these places but we were passing so stopped as the kids were hungry. Service was slow, food was disappointing to say the least. We weren't offered any sauces or told were condiments were (none on tables) 2 members of staff front of house who were rushed off their feet so aren't to blame. Poor show Brewers Fayre.

Booked to eat here on 31st Dec. Whilst the lady who greeted us was lovely that's where it ended. According to the menu you could order either a 2 course or a 3 course festive menu but when we attempted to order a 2 course we were told we could only order a 3 course!!!!! We reluctantly ordered a 3 course (starter was hardly touched) and when it came the only thing edible was the turkey with everything else being either reheated (or so it looked) or burnt. When we complained the girl said "sorry" and that was it. Not sure if our complaint was relayed to the kitchen staff or to anyone else for that matter.

Cheap and cheerful. Wasn't too busy, has a good kids soft play and activities for them to do. Food is average to good. Can't complain for the price as the kids loved it

Food was absolutely terrible. Loaded nachos were like a plate of custard. Kids pizza was like cardboard with tomato sauce And the spaghetti bolognese was like worms with mud on it. Drive by don't go in 🤢

I took my 2 kids for breakfast and to meet santa. Staff were amazing. It was very busy but they all staff worked with a smile on their faces. Santa's elf who seated us and took us to see santa was lovely. Santa was so nice and very chatty with kids. Other 2 staff members were constantly clearing tables whilst having to juggle and not trip over little ones running about. Was a great experience and I hope staff know they are very much appreciated. Was a great selection of food to choose from too. Will definitely be back. Added bonus was softplay to keep kids enetertained..

Excellent facility. Great value for money an adult and child can get unlimited breakfast for just £9.50. Staff are bright,cheery and very helpful. WE WILL BE BACK

Been a few times but my trip on Monday was definitely the best. Went with my 2 kids (2&4) on my own to eat in the soft play area. The staff member on who had only worked there for 2 days was amazing. She went above and beyond to make our trip enjoyable. She played and interacted with the kids and was chatty and made us feel very welcome. The food was OK, not sure who's idea it was to stack kids pizza like a Christmas tree, just ripped all the toppings off every other slice. Was a great time regardless.

I read the reviews but we thought we'd try it anyway. We learned the reviews are accurate. The service was awful. The hostess was clearly exhausted and barely muttered a word. The bartender waited until the queue was 4 groups deep before taking food orders (also understaffed while she took about 6 drink orders at the bar before getting to the food line at the register). It's as iff the place is run by 16 year-olds without an adult in sight. Foos: There are two options of wings; hot wings or barbecue. We ordered barbecue. When the wings arrived without sauce and covered in chilli peppers, we told him we think it's the wrong wings. He looked me in the eyes and said, no I think they're barbecue. We showed him the picture wings covered in barbecue sauce in the menu and he said, yeah that's right. So we asked for a side of barbecue sauce and picked the peppers off as a compromise. However, the food is inexpensive. That is the only trade off.

This is at least the third time I have stayed at this premier Inn & used the pub attached. Up until tonight the service & food has been first class. Tonight when we order at the same time our food came out at different times. My colleagues starter came out 10mins before mine. When my starter did arrive within 2mins I was asked if I had finished while my colleagues finished starter plate was taken away. Then 5mins later his main course arrived. I waited 20mins for my starter plate to be cleared while my colleague eat his main. Still no main was brought out for myself. I them asked a member of staff to send over the manager. When she came over I pointed out that i had not had my main. At no point did she aplioges or offer an explanation. She offered a refund which I refused as that was not the point I was trying to make. I then said I did not want the main anymore. 5mins later the brought my main out which was cold & again I send I did not want the food. I'm still sat here now 1hr later & no one has offered an apology. For my work I stay in lots in premer inns across the country & this has been the worst reresturant experience I have had.

One of those "does what it says on the tin" sort of places. You get what you expect, no more. Everything about the experience is pretty average.

Menu has changed and options not as good as previous menus.

Pretty disappointed. No carvery on when we were booked for 5pm. They said they'd sold out through the day.🤨The adult main meals were basically lukewarm, we had to eat quickly or they'd be stone cold. Food was not great and obviously reheated and served. I'm only giving the extra stars for the lovely dessert and good play area for kids. We probably won't be back.

It's a value for money family restaurant, and they deliver on that. The food is fine for the price, we fed a family of 4 for £50. The food was fine, and the kids had a fun time playing inside and outside. One of the positives is the kid's portions were actually good, small portions to suit children. The soft play is good too, closes at 7pm though, so need to make sure you're there before then.
