Was looking for the best chippy in rugby. Today was the turn of brownsover chippy. What a great venue. Queues were average, but soon cleared, due to the great staff. Vast array of item on menu. But all were on separate signs. So easy to find what you looking for. We went for the fish again, with chips. So both ordered them. Courteous staff. And so quick. Got them back home and noticed how golden brown the batter was not overcooked. And certainly not soggy. Chips are fantastic. All in all bellies full and plates were clean. 10 out 0f ten. Only sight negative was the price. (but get what you paid for) Best we've found in rugby. At moment. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Me and my brother ordered two meals from you yesterday fish and chips and mixed kebab meal, the first was cold and chips weren’t very hot, my brother last night was up all night throwing his guts up I have stomach aches I can’t keep anything inside me will never order from you again

We hadn't been here for a few years so thought we'd see if it's still as good as it was. The young bloke who served me was stroppy & miserable,mind you all of the staff looked pretty grouchy,i had to tell him my order about three times .Kebab was rubbish,chips were ok,at least the wife enjoyed the chicken zinger burger.

This is the best chippy. The cod is fabulous. Chips sublime.

Visited this chippy as usually go to another one in Rugby so fancied a change & try it out. I can honestly say I won’t be returning. Let’s start at prices - £4.90 for a large bag of chips!!! That’s if you can even call it a large portion, it’s more like a small!! For almost £5!!! Secondly, the quality of the chips were diabolical - covered in grease, most of them were hard & crunchy, I think I found about 5/6 chips that were actually edible which I gave them to my son & the rest went in the bin. The lady I was served by however (short, tanned lady) was very well spoken with perfect customer service - the rest of the staff didn’t even speak when customers walked through the door & looked miserable. Fair to say this is the worst experience I have had for a long time. I won’t be coming back here again.

This was the 1st and last time I will purchase any fish from them, I had a delivery of 2 small fish and a large chips. The batter on the fish was soggy and the fish smelt very strongly of fish, which was off putting because it is a known fact that fresh fish does not smell

Quick Service even though it was Extremely Busy at the Time of my Visit. Staff were Friendly and Efficient. Food was Well worth the Price. Would recommend

One of the best around..generous portions that never fail to disappoint. The fish and chips are always fresh and they kept the quality consistent throughout the years.

Service was nice and polite but the food was horrendous, honestly everything was dripping in oil, even the sausages I had to peal dripping wet paper off from where they just wrapped it, also I don’t know if the change oil frequently enough but everything just tasted the same like old burnt oil, Personally I won’t bother again. Unless I need a pot of beans or a salad.

Sad to say that this is our last time using the chippy in Brownsover after 20 + years. It used to be the very best in town but now very poor, you have lost it . Cold over cooked chips as well as a late delivery with no apologies. This is not my only bad experience as over the last few times have all been the same. Avoid

I’ve been using this fish shop for over 20 yrs. Over the last 2/3 yrs this fish and chip shop has gone downhill. This Saturday was my last visit 8.30pm on a Saturday evening limited choice, we took what was offered no fish would take around 15mins Had a sausage meal deal and a pie meal deal No curry sauce left, except the scrapings of the container When we arrived home all was so cold had to microwave everything, not the chips but they needed heating. It’s very sad after over 30 yrs of great fish and chips. It has come to this. Pls find somewhere else for your fish and chips take away.

Trip advisor opening hours are incorrect and there is no closing time on the door. Arrived at 8.50pm and asked if there was 3 mini fish available and was told that they were closing in 2 minutes and couldn't cook anything fresh but there was 2 mini fish and 1 large fish left. I asked if the large fish was full price and was told it was.I went outside and called home to check the family was ok with that and could here the server talking about me very loudly to her colleague! Despite my better judgement I went inside and ordered 2 mini fish and chips and one large fish and chip, paid £24 and suggested that in future they wait for the customer to be out of earshot before talking about them! I appreciate that they were closing up but the food was absolutely awful and inedible. The right thing to do would have been to turm me away and bin the left overs. Overall a terrible experience and I wouldn't go back.

I don't live in Rugby but it's always a pleasure to go on a detour to get to the Brownsover Fish Bar. The food never fails to satisfy The portions are gargantuan. Value for money and a superiority that speaks for itself. Looking forward to my next upcoming visit. Fish and chips as they should be. Well done to the Brownsover Team for maintaining consistency in providing great, fresh, piping hot and tasting food.

Why they've started putting fish in plastic kebab containers I'll never know, takes the crisp straight out of the batter.

Recently gave it 5 star as best kebab in rugby went last night and was given worst kebab ever luckily I only had a mouthful and left the rest. Have got a picture how dry it was didn’t taste right either

Used to be brilliant but the fish is now always dripping with oil. I've been going to this chip shop for over 25 years but it's not as good as it used to be since changing hands. Chips are much greaser, as is the fish & other battered food. Still friendly & efficient, good range at reasonable prices but they really need to address the over saturated fish & chips. Once they get that sorted, I'd give it 5 stars again.

Just ordered a bag of chips, they were fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. The service was okay not as friendly as other chip shops I have been too but will be going back to try their doner kebabs.

This is a great fish and chip shop. Chips are good, portions are large and the range of food is great. There's a decent range of kebab meats, with even pork gyros being offered.

I've just moved to the area and was recommended to try Brownsover fish bar. Tried it tonight and was blown away 😃 Love the chilli sauce 😋 n kebab meat and chips, and the chilli sauce is excellent.

We visited this place when we were on a canal trip. It's a good uphill 20 minute walk from the canal but worth the walk. It had been recommended by a friend whose parents live nearby and it's their local chippy. It was a weekday lunchtime on lockdown but it was very busy. So you knew you'd be getting fresh food. Great Covid procedures. Excellent food. Huge portions. Good fresh fish, well battered. Crisp batter. Just what you want from a chippy. Efficient service.

Only walked in for a bag of chips - but the lady that served me was really rude.. i wouldn’t go back, even though chips were nice enough... first time we used this chippy as we we happened to be walking past but will stick to Fishsmiths!

just have fish and chips and the cod looked nice but was like it was wet and very soggy and no body to it . it was that bad it when in the bin i think it was the worst that i have every had from there. i have used for many years

Just bought haddock n large chips with large peas....aboslutley awful. Cold rock hard haddock, chips stone cold like they were made in the morning and even the peas were cold. I was wondering why the woman went to end to get chips when the place was not that busy and others were getting chips from the counter side. Used to be my local but won't be going again. The fish bar on Murray road is so much better and the staff are so friendly too. Looks like new owners in Brownsover unless I'm mistaken.

Found this place on google maps when driving up the M6, about a mile from junction 1. Im not a big fan of service station food when hungry! Ordered mixed kebab and chips. Cracking chips! - huge portion too and excellent kebab. I'm a big lad, but I simply couldnt finish it . My only suggestion for improvement ? turn the radio down so we can hear you through the covid19 plexi glass!! :-) Many thanks ladies - top nosh !

We haven't had food from here in a while because the food was average at best, but we were so glad we took a game and ordered a delivery. We only live local and were feeling really lazy ,because it was a really hot day so we ordered a delivery. We were so glad we did the food was brilliant. We ordered 2 lunch boxes and the red chicken kebab meat and chips. The fish in the lunch box was huge, really crispy and delicious flakey soft fish on the inside. The sausage was cooked perfectly. The chips were really nice. They had that lovely chippy flavour that you rarely get from traditional fish and chip shops nowadays. I find chippy chips dry from most places and flavourless , but tese were something else. They had a perfect covering of salt and vinegar. The curry sauce came in a separate pot. It was nice , thick and tasty. The red chicken kebab meat was amazing. The really good thing they do at this chippy is they cut the meat off the spit and then a quick toss on the hot plate . It makes it lovely and charged at the edges and gets rid of that awful oil that usually collects up in the bottom of the polostytene tray at the end. The portion size was good and topped with a generous covering of hot chilli sauce . I selected the option for the food to be delivered asap. It informed me it would be about 50 minutes, what I expected for a Friday teatime. The boiling hot food was surprisingly delivered in about 15 minutes, what was nice. The delivery driver left it on the step and loudly knocked the door . He waited a good distance away for me to pick up my food. We were very impressed with the meal , so impressed we didn't even leave it a week until I went in-store to get another meal , what had the exact good quality . I would definitely recommend and will be re ordering .

Ordered mini fish and chips .Chips were good although they didn’t come with salt and vinegar as I requested on line .The fish was dry and tasteless like as if it had been mixed with bread crumbs .I have had fish from here on other occasions but today it didn’t look or taste right .

I would give you 5 stars as the chips and battered sausage were beautiful. I ordered chips, battered sausage, peas and gravy. I drove 2 miles to eat my dinner and there was no peas in the tray.

Always busy so be prepared to queue at times. They got through the queue pretty quickly though. Food worth the wait as always.

Since the chip shop was closed due the coronvirus and you could only order on line for contactlessly delivery,I ordered twice online and could not the fault the service. The fish& chips were very fresh & pipping hot. I have used the Brownsover chip shop for 20 yrs and have always found it great value for money. Keep up the good work👍
