Browns in Gwynedd

Alfredo’s looks like it make good Italian sandwiches, but they don’t. Really low on quality and decent ingredients. We had the two most disappointing and overpriced sandwiches ever. One was prawn. Had about 5 prawns, a massive amount of cheap tomato and a very soggy bottom. Coffee was rank too.

I have been in Barmouth for two days and I want to say a big thankyou to the owners and shops employees unfortunately my daughter has had a dog bite her in Barmouth today Saturday the 13th which ended up with her visiting a local hospital the staff was so helpful which helped my daughter a lot to ease the situation I’m am so grateful for you looking after my daughter I would recommend this shop for not just for there food but there caring passion towards there customers I can’t thankyou enough

Had some tasty sandwiches and cakes for lunch. And a meaty sausage roll. Decent. Coffee was good too.

Just stopped by for a simple lunch - the baguettes are excellent value with a wide range of fillings - probably the best we've had. I don't understand the negative reviews as the staff were very helpful in our case.

We always support small businesses as much as we can. There are so many very lovely, friendly, welcoming cafes in Barmouth who offer great service. Sadly Browns is not one of them! We were shocked by the very unwelcoming and rude reception we were greeted with by two of the three people working there. We popped in for a late lunch and coffees - we were told straightaway in a very rude way that we only had until 330pm to eat and drink there - it was only 3pm so no idea why this was an issue! Clearly they wanted to shut as soon as they could! There was only one other couple sat outside. I asked if I could have a glass of tap water and was rudely told by the man ‘NO!’ - and he said ‘what would we do if everyone asked for free tap water?!!” We had ordered coffee and drinks so we felt this was very rude and very inappropriately put across. I asked for a receipt - was only given the card receipt and we wanted an itemised one. The rude man turned to the similarly very rude woman and said “write one out for HER!” - I said not to bother. The food was below average. The latte coffee I ordered was awful and certainly was not a latte. I recommend avoiding this cafe until they can learn some manners and perhaps improve their service by treating paying customers better. A terrible and shocking experience. One to avoid!

An excellent cafe and sandwich shop to grab a baguette from. Reasonably priced and tasty. A couple of tables outside the front allowed is to sit whilst we enjoyed our lunch. Recommend for a good sandwich, coffee and cake.

Sometimes you just want a salad box with all your favourite fillings... and then it appears! Browns is an unassuming place but it's staff, a friendly husband and wife team, could not be faulted for their dedication to excellent food at a great price. Breakfast Babs to coronation chicken on a brown roll, everything fresh and good. Good for takeaways to the beach or harbour watching. Reliable food, friendly service, a great find in Barmouth.

Superb service on a busy day. Lovely fresh sandwiches and the sausage roll was awesome - rivalling the famous Greggs version!

Bought a filled baguette to take out, nothing special, minimal filling & service without a smile. Much better places in Barmouth to spend my money 👍🏼

I've been visiting this place for a very long time and have always been happy with the food, however the staff have become ignorant and arrogant. They made me feel so uncomfortable In the shop, the man continued to argue and shout abuse at me although the shop was full. They clearly don't need the money! Words cannot describe how much of a disgrace the man is. Pathetic silly man.

Absolutely disgusting and rude to a customer waiting to order food, outside until there was only 2 people inside following covid rules, the owner does not deserve any customers if that's the way he treats them he won't get my custom ever again after years in using Browns

Avoid this place, no customer service at all. Awful cafe, man serving extremely rude & demanded I wear a mask prior to being served, I explained I was actually exempt but he would not accept this. They then would not show menu to a family member who went in a few mins later as closing soon. Their loss of about £30 of custom. I would not recommend this cafe to anyone, they really need to realise that it is the tourists that are keeping them open and learn some manners.

The food is actually nice which is a shame as the staff and service let this shop down so badly, I was made to feel so unwelcome that I actually left before purchasing what I went in for all because I have a hidden disability and am mask expemt. Could have been because I'm English as well to be honest as the reply u got to being exempt was "well, we're Welsh and we wear masks". The way I was treated has definitely put me off going in again in future unfortunately. Upon checking Google reviews I can see that they were rude to people even before restrictions so I feel it made be a racial thing fueled further by masks, disappointing in todays day and age.

Despite the nice food I won't be spending money here as the staff are rude. Arguing with a paying customer over a face mask when said customer is exempt is unacceptable and discriminates against hidden disabilities. Demanding a card which isn't available to English citizens and not required by law to Welsh citizens isn't a great way to make customers feel welcome.

Was so rude, just AVOID!! Kicked me out of shop because I was medically exempted from wearing a mask. Had ago at 6 year old in our large group for also not wearing a mask bringing her to tears. Then told another member the group to get out as she was looking at the menu and they closed in 5 mins! Was talking about tourists even though we probably help keep them in business!

Myself husband and two sons visited here and had sandwiches and baguettes they were really tasty, fresh ingredients and super fresh bread. Staff very friendly and helpful will definitely be back. Thank you BROWNS for our super lunch 🍱

Really nice homemade baguettes, and more. The friendly staff who work there make any baguette you ask, fairly priced and it's a place I've been to every year for as long as I can remember. Would recommend if you're going through Barmouth as every year we come camping and visit it at least three times! In my opinion the perfect place where you should get your lunch!

The greatest bread based dishes to ever entered my food hole. The baguettes are the perfect texture and size. The fillings are perfectly crafted by the very friendly and efficient staff. The prices are exactly as expected. I've been coming to Barmouth for 4 years now and in the 2 week visits, we must come at least 3 times. Just perfection. The bakes and cakes are great too.

Man very rude. Will not be going there again, not like they seemed bothered, seemed as though it being busy in there was a nuisance!!

Overheard their nasty comments re tourists! Personal experience was very slow, unfriendly and unorganised service, however the food was okay. Need to work on their customer service for sure! Would never put money in their till again but to those more appreciative of the custom.

Stopped off here for a takeaway lunch here with my family on a visit to Barmouth from Shell Island. We were very impressed with the food and it was very clean and welcoming. The homemade Cornish pasty i had was probably one of the best I've ever had and my daughters peppered steak was just as good. my wife had a huge chicken salad baguette with lots of fresh salad of her choice, finished of with some home made slices of cake and a few drinks. At just over £12.00 for the lot we thought this was very good value. Our only regret is not getting more to take back to Shell Island for our evening meal, will definitely visit again when in the area.

Friendly staff in a very nice little sandwich shop, that sells some right tasty food. Some mouth watering fillings in these sandwiches and baguettes, plus for a seaside resort area, the prices are spot on. Keep up the good work guys. Great 😁👍

Just stopped to get a quick bite to eat in what looked like a lovely little baguette store. Only to be rudely turned away as I am medically exempt from wearing a mask. The guy was plain rude and disrespectful towards me and told me he doesn’t serve anyone without a mask. I have my sunflower lanyard around my neck and he still was blunt and rude . Not pleased at all

I often stop off here for lunch after a morning walk in the hills above Barmouth. I usually have a baguette (lovely fresh bread) and am working my way through the excellent selection of fillings. The couple who run it are very friendly. Service is pretty speedy and the quality of the food is good. Nice to sit outside or take your meal down to the benches at the harbour.

Stopped her with the family for some breakfast baguettes and a Tuna Sandwich. Couple who run it are delightful and the food is really good value. They also serve pasties and Oggis.

The food here is lovely. Nice and clean and really good prices . There is a huge amount of choices. The staff are not the most talkative of people but it doesn't really matter when food is that good

We had lunch at browns and sat outside with are dog I had a salad with chicken and bacon and some prawns was a big enough to fill me up. My family had a baguette each and they looked lovely as well. I can’t wait...

Whenever we come to Barmouth we always have our Butty form browns. Lots of choice all freshly made. Nice service and lovely brownies! Pasty's and pies are also very nice.

Love this shop, it makes a change from the usual pre packed meal deal and great value, fresh bread and ingredients, served by a friendly face. Just right for a day on the beach or walking to Fairbourne. Makes the day
