Really nice place, great vegan options and lovely staff!!

It's sad how useless the staff have become here. I used to love the place. My food was cold by the time it arrived. They weren't busy just staff being bad at their job!!

How long is too long to be made wait for takeout? Ordered 2 breakfast butties and was told to ‘take a seat’ while they made them. 20 minutes later, still no food received and staff hadn’t even come to apologise for a delay or give me an estimate for how much longer it would be. I had to go up to the counter and enquire as to what was going on/if my order was still being made - only then did the guy who took my order decide to phone down to the kitchen to check (after checking the order time on the ticket). He ended up running down to kitchen and a few minutes later physically brought them up (they use a dumb waiter) and didn’t even apologise for the delay. Wish I’d just asked for a refund but, I was so taken aback by the whole thing. Really really poor service, so disappointed as the food was actually quite tasty but we won’t be returning.

Enjoyed a tasty halumi and mushroom bap. However cashier not helpfull. I was there as part of a group, I left before my friends paid for my meal on my way out. The rest of the group were charged again for my meal. In the process of my friend claiming the over payment back. 2 trips later after all of us had to show proof we'd paid the issue finally resolved. We all had to show our bank statements to prove this. The young cashier took a photo on her phone and appears to have misplaced it as I needed to send it again. Not a great experience.

Always spoilt for vegan choice hence the four stars, but (like most people I am sure) I am posting due to something not being quite right, which in this case is the vegan pancakes with vegan bacon and maple syrup for £9.95; three measly slices of bacon and then topped with parsley and some other greens, not entirely sure that's an established combination, so I felt short changed and the overall taste was just weird.

Really nice and relaxed place. Great coffee. The staff are very helpful and friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Megan always seems to know what my order is going to be and has it ready super quick. Probably my favourite cafe in London.

I was really happy to see the staff treating all customers with respect and care. There was one man who was doing a lot of vocal stimming and he needed some extra support. The staff were so kind and accommodating to him and he seemed to have a very pleasant time. With a brother who has similar needs, it was so lovely to see how small adjustments can make people have a wonderful experience at your cafe.

Great little cafe with good portion sizes, loads of table and a huge selection of veggie and vegan dishes on their menu. Weekends do attract lots of families so can be quite loud with kids but during the week it’s a great place to brunch, lunch or even work from. For a simple buttie the Vegan Brat is AMAZING:

There is a large selection of food on the menu outside – they even have Vegimite! We ordered two sandwiches, 1 Mocha and 1 Americano. The staff were really nice and really friendly – even pointing out a few other coffee shops to try in the area. However the food took a Loooooooooong time and the coffee was pretty bland. The coffee was a 2 star but the staff brought it up to a 3.

Popped in on the spur of the moment and really enjoyed everything! Great range of options, amazing food and coffee, lovely staff and chill atmosphere (loved the choice of music). A bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it, and we'd go again for sure!

Went there for a very early Sunday Breakfast. The staff were very charming and the food was wonderful. Will be coming back for quiet breakfasts first thing in the morning.

LOVED it all! The hungover beans were devine (underused word but really deserved in this case)! The eggs I got on the side were cooked to perfection and the chai latte was delicious. I've nothing but great things to say and I can't wait to go back. Finally, massive thanks to the staff, every single one... Super friendly and attentive.

We walked in and saw who we were later told was the manager being incredibly rude to a woman that we decided to leave instantly.

Came here for a coffee during a bike ride, despite being a little too cool, but will know for next time, the coffee is definitely one of the best I've had around south London.

Have the food, it’s great. But don’t order the coffee it takes longer to make than the food. Shame just spoiled the experience.

High hopes were dashed. Came for lunch and waited 40 minutes for it to arrive and it was lukewarm. I expected a meal freshly cooked and piping hot. Had to chase the food order and have a feeling it had been sat on the pass and not brought to the table. Service was friendly.

I've had the English breakfast and the vegan breakfast and preferred the English. Coffee is a bit average.

An absolutely lovely and friendly cafe, no wonder both branches are absolutely swamped with people. It is the best local dog friendly cafe that isn't specifically targeted at dogs. It is a proper local cafe and it supports local businesses. There is a large space dedicated to taking posters and leaflets. It is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Great range of vegetarian and non vegetarian food that is healthy and yet still tasty and accessible. I was immediately greeted by friendly staff and I enjoyed the table service immensely. I felt my croissant needed to have more flavour but my coffee was excellent and past experience of Brown and Green food has been excellent.

Food is tasty but ordered from them twice and both times they got the order wrong and paid extras were missing, also beans exploded all over the bag. Missing sausage from all three full English (B&G) meals 😭 Your hangover meal will be depressing

Nice food but agree with other contributors about making you pay in advance and you don’t even get a receipt so you have no idea what you’re paying for! Was told the service charge was mentioned at bottom of menu however the menu was very grubby with old food so didn’t really look at much as I knew what I wanted. Also I was cleaning the table myself with napkins while the staff just chatted behind the counter there were about two people in there at lunchtime so not busy. It’s just a bit tired and lack lustre with poor service.

I’ve visited here a few times, it’s not one of my favourite CP places for breakkie but I went back today and the service was great. We both got a full English for lunch, portions are okay and they were accommodating with our requests. I would ditch the salad though and not charge extra for eggs being scrambled maybe. The sourdough which we paid extra for was delicious and was pre buttered for us too. I had a lovely kombucha though and my friend said the coffee was very good.

Came for lunch here today with my friend. Staff were super attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! The Chai Latte was lovely as well! Hope to come back soon!

The food is average and overpriced. I would have given it 3 stars but the older gentleman who served me was very rude. The opposite of warm and welcoming he was short, standoffish and unfriendly. Like I’d mortally offended him. I really didn’t appreciate that. Venue itself I really like - could be so much better IMHO. Would be great if they added some plugs and made it more freelancer friendly. Also, it’s basically a kids play centre so avoid if you don’t want incessant screaming with pretentious mums not giving a sh1t about their kids impact on other people without kids.

Lovely cafe with a wonderful selection of veggie, vegan, GF, and regular options. The staff are very attentive, the space is well laid out, and the kitchen prepares meals promptly. Seating indoor & outdoor, lovely place to while away the time. Just a heads up, 10% service charge on everything

I've visited all of the local B&Gs and they're all great, but had a particularly wonderful Sunday brunch at this branch of B&G - fabulous food and great service. So many gluten-free and veggie/vegan options too, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Very generous portions and beautifully presented, and lots of flexibility for menu choices if there was something you wanted to change. There were seven of us but all of our orders arrived together. Brilliant! Will definitely return.

My nephews tucked into substantial burger style offerings - my grandniece devoured her two pancakes with relish. My wife had the ample, filled almond croissant - I stuck with a plain one - both very substantial. Service was excellent, as was the coffees. We spent an hour and half on breakfast - decadent!

Amazing place...food is so tasty

This place has nice food albeit expensive for what it is, but the thing that lets it down is the 10% service charge on all food if you eat in, no matter the size of the group. Bit of a rip off when you think even restaurants don't charge for this unless there is a large group. You also have to pay upfront before you've eaten, and staff don't check if what you've ordered is available, leading to them sloping back to the table asking if you want something else. As I'd already paid I didn't want to sound like a cheapskate asking for my pound back as my orange juice was cheaper than the drink I'd asked for. It was also pretty quiet when we visited but that didn't stop staff making us wait ages for the food.

Food nice but won't swap one item on the English breakfast as apparently it confuses the kitchen. Will however remove that item and charge you for an extra.

I recently visited this cafe, and I must say, I was impressed with the cosy and charming atmosphere. The decor was nice, and the warm lighting created a pleasant ambiance. The food and coffee were both delicious, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in each bite and sip. The cafe offered a range of options, from classic breakfast fare to creative sandwich options, and everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. Moreover, the customer service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff always ready to assist us. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered recommendations based on our preferences, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. However, the downside of this cafe was the price. While the food and coffee were of high quality, the prices were a little on the expensive side, which may not be ideal for those on a budget. Overall, the cosy atmosphere, delicious food and coffee, good customer service, make this cafe worth a visit. Although it is a little on the pricey side, the quality of the experience makes it a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal or a quick coffee.

Love this place, great breakfasts and easily cater to gluten free and vegan diets. Teas and coffees are good and the food has been great every time I've been in.

I noticed someone wrote a terrible review which compelled me to challenge it as it really is such a great cafe. It has a relaxed community atmosphere, the staff are so lovely and I can’t fault the food. We all had full english (under a tenner which I think is great and hard to find in London in a decent cafe) and kids scrambled egg on toast for a very reasonable £3.50ish. Great Cumberland sausage on our brekki. I have a (weird but I swear by it) theory of judging breakfast/brunch establishments by the colour of the yolk in their eggs - they serve banging golden golden yolk eggs and their scrambled eggs come out super golden and not pale yellow/grey like they do when you know they are using cheap horrid eggs. Couldn’t fault the coffee or fresh orange juice either. Cakes looked great but didn’t try.

Went for a nice,light lunch. They have a good range of breakfasts and sandwiches. I had the scrambled eggs on toast which was a perfect portion size and deliciously seasoned eggs. My sister said the vegan sausage bap was delicious too. Great coffee too.

This place sadly doesn’t know what it is doing. Confused, muddled menu that doesn’t know if it is veggie, vegan or there for omnivores. A chef who wants to deliver flavour but whose taste buds are not up to it (the food is terribly salty). Staff that range from competent to woefully out of their depth. And some attempt at hip or shabby chic, that just comes across as grubby.

Closing time says 5:30pm , I got there 40 minutes before this yet they told me the place was closed . How does this make any sense?

What a fabulous cafe - loved the quirky interior. Fabulous food and a great choice on the menu, I had the Hart which was delicious followed by the stick toffee gingerbread cake which was divine. Great prices and great service andtgey serve a mean latte. I will definitely be back

Great atmosphere, disappointing food. I ordered the Aussie eggs, my partner ordered the dhal and flatbread; both turned up after having been left for a while (the sourdough was soggy and the dhal cold). The aussie eggs were covered in a very sweet chilli sauce, which ruined them completely. It is a huge shame, because the location and atmosphere with the outdoor seating means this place has great potential

Should be awesome but lets itself down. It's expensive but that wouldn't matter if the food was really nice. Unfortunately it wasn't. The bacon on both our meals had obviously been cooked a really long time ago. It was rock hard and actually quite unpleasant to eat. I get precooking sausages, but bacon takes minutes to fry and is gross reheated. Plenty of staff, but we had to ask for everything like salt/pepper/butter for toast etc - nothing was brought over when we sat down or with the food. We got up to get our own sauces and cutlery. The staff seemed put out by basic requests and even at the point of ordering at the till. Considering they add 10% service, when you have to ask for all the essential accompaniments to actually eat the food, or get it yourself, and you also have to go to the till to order and pay as well, this service charge is not reasonable at all. So yeah, easily fixable and I really hope they do make the effort to fix it.

Fair play to this place, very busy at the weekend but always plenty of staff and they are all very very helpful and good at their jobs. The kitchen gets through the orders of very good food really quickly considering how busy they are and the coffee comes in decent sized cups, which is rare thesedays. It's not cheap, but where is? The food portions are generous so you get what you pay for. Good place.

This place is OK but I'm less keen than 4 years ago when I first reviewed it. The menu options are less healthy, the cakes aren't as good and the prices have gone up beyond inflation. Probably because they're now a chain. Still the only place locally with a salad bar although this is a bit variable.

Went here for a family brunch in the week. Table service was fast and efficient. Food was great and good value. Full English was incredibly tasty and they didn’t skimp on the toast! Will be back for sure.

Well cooked food let down by poor service. If the place is busy my advice is to avoid. I ordered the English breakfast, coffee and orange juice. It took 40 minutes to arrive, minus the drinks, which I had to go up and ask for twice.

Good variety of food for all tastes and preferences, friendly staff. Nice location.

The food is fine, the staff inexplicably unfriendly and taint the taste of the fare. For example, both adults said thanks upon leaving and the worker literally gave side eye. The server made errors and rolled her eyes at us when we queried. Weird place.

My partner had bacon & eggs butties and I had sausage & egg butties. Really delicious and we will be back again for breakfast. Their lunch menu looks interesting and will try to visit for lunch too.

Love this place, I went there several times. It's nice and cosy and tastes really good. A big plus for us is that it's dog friendly so it's our go-to option when we want a nice meal while out and about.

My favourite place for brunch and I’m willing to queue every time because it’s worth it! The food is so fresh, varied and delicious. Staff are super friendly and service is great! I went from being the biggest meat-eater to an aspirational vegan and it’s still my favourite. I love all the friendly noise of this place with children of all ages, dogs, groups of people laughing - it’s got a great vibe to start your weekend right!

Found it a bit grubby. Walked in tables not cleared in front part where counter located. Went to rear but first table had no items but crumbs all over. Spoon given was dirty. The food and drinks we had was fine. All in all will not return to that particular Brown and Green. Would also add that when you sit down to eat you are still expected to pay before you eat, but not sure if this applies to everyone.

I love this place, as do most of the local yummy mummy, alternative lifestyle peeps (of which I am not one). Vegan, gluten-free, veggie cakes, brunch, lunch are all available here. Staff are wonderfully friendly, the atmosphere is lovely. If you don't like children or babies, then avoid it but otherwise, this is one of the best cafe gaffs in the area. It also used to host the Crystal Palace Choir, has a coffee pick up outlet at the station, and has the cafe in our wonderful park.

Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, perfect place for a catch up coffee and a bite to eat, both were excellent and not pricy. Big thumbs up👍

Lovely place with lots of seating, friendly staff and a great selection of vegetarian food. Their garlic spinach is particularly good, plus they know how to prepare a portobello mushroom, which is no mean feat. Perfect place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Food was ok although literally a minute after being seated by the waitress another staff member came over scolding us telling us that that table had been reserved and that we couldn’t sit there. I explained to him that we had been given the table by a staff member to which he seemed to want further explanation. We were the only non English people in the cafe, the couple behind us were not challenged about their seating arrangements. The food was not that great and over priced. I will be sharing my experience with both my English and non English friends so that they don’t expose themselves to the embarrassment we experienced The French woman who served us however was very friendly and attentive and showed no discrimination unlike her colleague older man with glasses Manners are free!

Disappointing food. Really not good for the price and area. I had avocado and scramble last egg. Avocado was a combo of ripe and over ripe avocado. Egg was so over cooked, general presentation of food very mediocre. I think the food quality can be really improved and presentation. Wouldn’t order food here again. But nice for a coffee, staff pleasant too.

Great breakfast and coffee albeit on the pricey end (baps go for almost £8) but the atmosphere of the indoor seating space is excellent and sometimes you just need to treat yourself!

Super brunch location. We were lucky with the weather to sit outside. The server was witty and charming. Delicious halloumi, avo, rocket and tomato in a bun.

Good coffee and cake, although the vegan Oreo brownie was super-overpriced considering the size of the slice. Seating area outside is lovely to people watch, although the wait to be served was too long (~15 minutes) and we had to go inside to order ourselves (with a couple of customers adjacent to us leaving before being served because of the wait). Customer service was ok, although I did find one of the waitresses to be not as welcoming as the younger chap working there (on the Sunday we visited).

This is a great cafe,indoor and outdoor seating. The food is delicious the salads are amazing and the staff are really friendly I highly recommend this place to eat at.
