Great Fish & Chip Shop! Well drained Fish & Chips. These days most chip shops cook all their food to order, and all you take home is a bag full of greasy oiled food, which I dislike, but not here, always well drained food! Staff are all lovely. Andrew, the owner, is a very lovely man. Overall, it's a great chip shop, traditional all the way!

The fish was good quality and freshly fried, one portion was gluten free and the chips were OK. The two members of staff were polite, however don't ask the owner too many questions as he may be sarcastic and walk off in a huff! I pity his staff as he seems very domineering.

Great fish and chips. The Yorkshire fish cakes are a meal in themselves, and worth trying. Andrew is very friendly and super efficient when it gets busy- so don't be put off by the queue due to popularity on some nights.

Food is excellent, always. Service is friendly and polite, staff are happy and this is absolutely the best chippy south of Birmingham. Luckily ran by a Yorkshire chap who brought the right stuff with him!

We drive a 6 mile round trip passing 3 other chippies to go here. Tiny pieces of cod today so I opted for a large cod which constituted waiting. That was fine but my piece of cod was given away to a group of lads who ordered a large cod but entered after my order was placed. The large cod I ended up with was very flat and either over cooked or reheated from lunchtime. It was chewy around every edge and had large hard battered areas. Our journey has been worth it up to now but after tonight I won’t be returning.

Tried quite a few fish & chips in the area. But this little hidden gem is our favourite. Polite staff and great tasting food.

I visit Brookwood once a year, fish and chips to be honest wasn't as good as last year and the portions have gone up in cost but I have found this in many chip shops lately.

After reading such glowing reviews I thought I’d give this place a try. The food was pretty good but not amazing. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to go there again. Small cod, chips and mushy peas cost £8.90 which is good value and the portion sizes were good for the price. Service was quick and friendly. The chips were pretty good, not overdone but with a nice golden brown colour, although not the crispest. The batter on the fish was also pretty good and neither were greasy. Unfortunately as I went for the small cod it was not cooked freshly to order but pre-cooked and kept warm in the cabinet. The fish tasted a bit dried up and not the freshest so I suspect it had been sitting there a while. It always annoys me when fish and chip shops pre-cook the fish - I would much rather wait a few minutes and have my food cooked fresh, which they seem to do with the other menu choices.

Fabulous fish and chips served with a smile. I was really impressed with how clean the shop was and the quality of the food.. couldn’t eat it all as I was too full but definitely wanted to! Will return again and again now I have found this traditional little fish and chip shop.

Ordered two portions of cod and chips one piece of cod was ok the second portion wasn’t much bigger than a fish finger.

Delicious haddock, cooked to perfection. Best mushy peas I've had for years. And friendly staff. I'll be back.

Fantastic burger, fresh burger bun, chips are fresh and tasty. Missus had fish cakes which she said are tasty. We are regular visitors to this chippy and it never disappoints.

Beautiful after a weeks work a great start to the weekend. The fish is beautiful and the chips just what makes it gorgeous. Great British no 1 dish for at least a 100 years. Absolutely 100 percent to the staff and just lovely atmosphere when collecting this will be my regular Friday treat for the weekend.

My verdict: Try it, you'll like it! Only decent F&Cs I know of south of Yorkshire. Words can’t really do justice to quite how glad I am to find such an excellent fish ‘n’ chip shop so far south! I’m a Yorkshireman who grew up spoilt for choice with plenty of excellent northern F&C shops nearby all selling good-to-great quality fish with lovely crispy batter, but after 20 years of living down south & becoming tired of having to throw away another lot of the awful soggy mess that usually passes for F&C down here (sorry, but unfortunately its the truth, or I've been terribly unlucky) I’d given up any hope of finding a decent chippy and restricted myself to only having F&C on my rare visits back home. But recently I heard about this place run by a Yorkshireman and seeing all its great reviews & awards decide it might be worth a try. And I’m so glad I did because they’re up there with "the best of the best" Ive ever had – tasty fish, big fat chips (those tiny thin McD’s -style “French fries” are usually the first red flag of a poor excuse for a chippy!) & of course beautiful crispy batter & even some extra “scraps” (extra orphaned pieces of crispy batter that you can ask for as a free extra, but only seem to get with the proper northern recipe for batter). Its well worth the hour-long round-trip from my new home. If you really must have a negative.. err.. it would be that there were slightly too many chips, which ain’t really a major crime especially if your very hungry. Try it you’ll like it!

Went in late last night but they still cooked my order, best scampi I’ve ever had and great chips……extremely friendly staff owner takes pride in his shop…..defo my new chippy!

Just nipped in for a snack as I hadn't had time for lunch and boy oh boy, they are the best chips I have ever had.

Visiting my sons locally. They're all out with friends for a birthday meal, opted to leave them to it. Saw this fine looking chippy down the road and thought ideal. Brilliant staff, such great banter. Cooked me Haddock fresh, accompanied with chips and mushy peas. Wonderful quality, superb fish, great chips. What a fortuitous and easy find for me.

Dreadful, this place has gone downhill. Not only were the portion sizes tiny, they dint give me my whole order. The fish was dry and tasteless. I was still hungry after I had eaten. A waste of money!

As good as fish n chips gets in Surrey. Ring ahead to get a large cod or haddock put in the fryer.

Best Chippy in Woking & great portion size. Clean oil, cooked to perfection, fish was just right, moist and the batter crunchy. Mushy peas were perfect too

First thing to say is that the food is lovely, it's freshly cooked and the chips are not over done or greasy. Secondly the staff are just so cheery, they chat to you like you're a real person and don't just treat you like another customer to be processed in the big machine. The chippy was clean, bright and airy and the COVID considerations made me feel safe whilst i was in there too. I recommend them and will be eating from them again in the future.

I’m very fussy about my food. This is my F&C of choice. Traditional, fresh and delicious. I used to drive miles then tried this place nextdoor that I hadn’t tried in decades. It’s been better than the others round here and they are not bad. Looking forward to my dinner from there tonight!

If I could give a 10* rating I would, you don’t meet many salt of the earth Yorkshire chaps this neck of the woods, I feel home from home and the food is amazing, the price is extremely competitive.

We’ve lived in the Woking area for 20 years. This is by far the best fish and chip shop, not just locally but anywhere. Great welcome, food freshly cooked and always delicious. Would not consider gong anywhere else. A true gem.

Outstanding food and made to feel very welcome

Stayed at Bisley range for a shooting course so thought I’d pop out to a decent trip advisor rated chippy nearby. Not impressed. Chips dry and batter thin on the fish. One end of the battered fish was so dried out I think it must have been in the heater since lunchtime. I’ll give this place a miss next time and drive into Guildford or Woking.

I live near, and have now started going more regularly. Andrew and his staff always make me and everyone feel welcome. The food is fresh, and good value for money. I have heard other customers ask for special requests and the team always try to accommodate them where possible. Well recommended if you want traditional fish and chips, or if you like me, pie and chips with a side sausage.

When you walk into this chippy you get a lovely northern welcome, and this sets the lovely welcoming tone for Brookwood Fisheries! Much of the excellent food is freshly cooked, but the wait is rarely longer than a few minutes. And it is worth every second. The fish and chips is cooked to perfection - the batter is crisp throughout, no soggy bits, and there's plenty of fish too and not too much batter. I have been here many times since it changed hands a couple of years ago, and every time has been consistently high quality. Despite the large size of the portions, I always manage to get through everything - as does the family - a sign of excellent food. The homemade "Yorkshire fish cakes" are almost a meal in themselves, but I would 100% recommend these - a sandwich of fish and potatoes, with batter. I imagine between two slices of bread this would be heaven. My favourite fish and chip shop - not just in Surrey, and hasn't been bettered in any of my experiences!

Andrew's fish & chips are the best i have ever tasted.The fish is so fresh & delicate, the batter is crispy & melts in your mouth.The mushy peas are to die for all home made.You always know when the food is excellent when there is a long queue up the road.

Every time I go there, the staff is very friendly and the portions are GIGANTIC!! A large cod and chips will easily feed two! A must if you are in the area!

This shop opens 530 pm/ 930 pm Mon / sat there is a small area to park while collecting food, the guy who appears to be in charge is very polite and friendly, you receive a generous portion for your money and the food is good , I would reccomend the food.
