Excellent food. Great choice of meals on the main menu and the specials board. The fish dishes are particularly good. We always sit in the bar as its dog friendly and has a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Everyone was really friendly and lovely and the setting was also so beautiful! The woman who brought us the food was really positive and happy. We were sadly really disappointed with the food today though. The lamb roast dinner was like a microwave meal with mint sauce that somehow didnā€™t taste of mint (or even vinegar!). The meat, potatoes or other veg didnā€™t seem fresh and the mint sauce seemed to be water and blanched pieces of mint. All in all it was a bit sad that potentially really amazing local produce wasnā€™t cooked better. Iā€™m not sure if there was a different kitchen team to normal but the food looked nothing like the pictures which was a shame because the people and setting were so amazing! We hoped leaving this message might be helpful as itā€™s such a nice place but we were so disappointed.

Pretty poor. By about 8:30 we were the only ones left and made pretty clear we needed to go. Wanted desserts but refused, no one offered them to us or told us we needed to order before they closed. Place was cold, fire barely going. Food we had was bang average for the price. Overall disappointing customer service. Would have stayed and had another round of drinks and dessert but these guys clearly donā€™t need the custome or money and happy to close up by 9pm.

Charming country pub serving nice selection of beers plus excellent bar/restaurant food at reasonable prices. Sunday roast best on Gower! Highley recommended and very popular - need to book... Only downside is location as quite far..from anywhere.. UPDATE 28.2.24 Had dinner along with wife and a visitor from Vienna. On time for the reservation at 7.15pm. Three courses and being tactfully (pointedly?) ushered out by 8.45pm No chance to sit and chat over a coffee and brandy after a nice dinner as "the coffee machine has been turned off". Shocking! We departed finding the chairs already on tables in the empty bar... If you say you are open til 10pm on a Wednesday...šŸ¤” Sorry Britannia but you have let yourselves down badly.

Such a lovely comfortable venue on this dreary damp day. The food for our lunch meal was outstanding and of the very best quality. The fire was such a cheerful sight making a very cosy atmosphere. Dogs were welcome and were very well behaved. The young bar lady was exceptionally helpful and very friendly and the Chef must be of the very highest quality. Yes highly recommended and we will certainly be visiting The Brittania from the Winchwen are of Swansea again. Highly recommended if you need to brighten these wintry days.

Well another dismal cold damp and grey day in WInchwen Swansea so out with car to visit Oldwalls and decided to lunch in the Brittania Inn Cheriton. The minute you enter you see a very bright fire glowing. We got ourselves seated ordered drinks and had a lunch of prawn sandwiches with a small bowl of chips. It was simply delicious. The young bar lady was very friendly indeed and the chef must be complimented on the nicest fresh sandwiches we have had for a long time. A few couples had visited with their very well behaved beautiful dogs, bowls of water provided. So do yourself a favour if you want to be brightened up, this is the venue! Thanks all in the Brittania.

Booked our table 2 days before for a family Sunday lunch table for people we arrived early but didn't mind getting a drink and waiting our table was booked for 3.30 we waited till 3.40 I went to ask if our table was ready to be greeted by a lady with dark long hair and glasses to tell us it was ready. We waited till gone 4pm before we sat our table which the room was freezing cold and no fires on. The lady came to take our order and it was as if she didn't want us to be there like as if we was a inconvenience. We ordered our food when it did come it was luke warm and hardly anything on our plates 1 slice of meat and 1 very small gravy boat to share between 6 people . The veg could of done with an extra 10 minutes to cook too. We ordered water for our table which never came we normally order desert when we go out but we all agreed that we shouldn't as the lady really wanted us out I think she should get another job. No smile not once. We couldn't wait to pay and get home we went to joes for desert on way home .

I have visited 'The Brit' twice recently to give them another try at regaining our custom after they lost it ten years ago. That's how long it's taken us to want to try this place again. We'd heard good reports about the food so we thought at last we should return. Rather than write a journal, suffice to say it is not acceptable to be told by an apparently disinterested barman that our prebooked table wasn't ready because "we have been very busy all day" and then proceed to give tables and take orders for food from people who had walked in without booking. Neither is it acceptable to tell us when we enquired about the progress of our table being made ready that they didn't have a booking in our name even though we had already been told our table wasn't yet ready. We eventually ordered our food an hour after we had booked our table. The food was good but could have been warmer. We might have been cheered up while waiting by the wood burning stove except that on one of the coldest and wettest November days so far, it wasn't lit! So, not a great experience and one we won't be repeating any time soon. Might even be another ten years!

Booked a table 4 days before for 3.30 for Sunday lunch for 6 people. We waited 30 minutes to be seated. We all ordered Sunday roast and the portions size was disappointing 1 slice of meat on each plate. The veg could have been cooked a bit longer there was some yellow sauce on everyone's plate that tasted awful. And 1 little gravy boat it was tiny between 6 people. No Yorkshire puds . And the service was the slowest I've had in years the lady who served us looked like she didn't want to be there today. We'll neither did we won't be returning.

My husband and I spent ages choosing where to go for lunch on my Birthday and settled on The Britannia in Llanmadoc. Having been there quite a few times in the past and h a d amazing food we were so looking forward to our visit. We chose the restaurant for its menus we absolutely froze in there we ended up eating with our coats and we werent the only ones so uncomfortable. I asked the waitress if they could put the heating on she said the radiators needed bleeding and didnt work.....really? My starter was supposed to be Devon crab as stated on the board it was a crab custard according to our bill most bizarre texture and no sign of crab as expected and a strange aftertaste my husband had the scallops for which you needed binoculars to find them nice flavour but crazy price for the portion. The mains of venison and 48hr beef cheeks were tasty but more like a fancy Sunday Lunch very disappointing. It used to be so special here I'm sorry to say I doubt we will be back.

The food quality, the service and atmosphere is of the highest order. We booked an evening meal, which was generally ok but nothing special. Most disappointed with the waitress that we had. The leek and potato soup was bitter and was obviously left almost untouched. i asked the waitress to let the kitchen staff know. When the main course arrived I asked her if she reported it. She said that she had, but was not convincing. I asked what the kitchen staff said about the bitter soup. She shrugged her shoulders and said the soup had spices is it (which it hadn't) & that it was made the previous day (if this was some kind of an excuse). When I paid for the bill, I asked if the cost of the soup had been removed from the bill, she said it hadn't. I asked her to remove the cost, which she reluctantly did and added "no one else has complained" I was not impressed with her attitude or quality of service. The garden is a pleasantly laid out space with play equipment enough to amuse children under 10 for some time. The views from parts of the beer garden are quite nice. The restaurant has a nice feel about it and we felt the food was better in the restaurant than off the pub menu. The restaurant was really rather good and one of the best places that we visited in Swansea and the Gower. Childrenā€™s meals were well priced and decent enough quality. The bar itself is super cute and cozy, we were seated in the restaurant for our meal then took our cheeseboard out to the large garden to soak in the view and a glass of wine. Food - we started with cockles and lavabread which...

This pub came highly recommended from various sources so we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant was fully booked but we were told we could try for a table in the bar where tables are not bookable. We arrived on a very...

We were stopping in Rhossili, it was raining, so we needed a dog friendly place to eat. Other dog friendly establishments limited dogs to the garden, so we chose The Britannia Inn as our 9 month old puppy was allowed inside. The staff were instantly welcoming to us. We could have a tab set up straight away. We ordered the Roast Ham and Egg, the Gower Gold and Steak Pie & Moroccan Welsh Lamb Tagine. The pub was full, but the food was delivered quite quickly and to say it was delicious is an understatement. It was superb, the chips were delicious and appeared to be hand made. The meat was so tender that it fell apart. I could go on and on praising the food and the chef. We were latish going in, but they still served us a pudding. White Chocolate Profiteroles, Apple & Blackcurrant Crumble and a Vanilla Cheesecake. All I can say is that they didnā€™t last long. Adding the whole lot up with drinks did push the bill up a bit. However, even with a bit of an ouch, I was more than happy with what I paid. We are only in the area for a couple of days more, but our last night plans have changed from the nearby hostelry to The Britannia. Well done and a huge thank you to all the staff. Oh, by the way, there are vegetarian options available, which we did consider.
