Brimington Fish Bar in Chesterfield

i’m not one for reviews, however i thought the young girl was hugely unprofessional, we ordered 2 kebabs and a chips. upon ordering there was no please or thankyou. just a ‘16 pounds’…. i thought that was rude. she then seconds after ‘totally forgot’ what i ordered. a few minutes later this young lass started kicking off stamping her feet saying ‘im done, i can’t do this anymore’ whilst putting the kebab meat in the pita.. and the lady had to step in.never seen anything like it, hugely unprofessional. staff needs sorting and teaching basic manners.also i got my order ended up wrong and i couldn’t eat it! i won’t be returning.

There's a reason the chip shop wasn't busy at all on a Saturday dinner and except for the lovely lady serving the chips the food was cold and the fish was terrible and chewy and we simply couldn't eat it. The prices were also probably the most expensive in town with pukka pies being £1.50 more than other fish and chips shops in the town.... Very poor 😞..... don't do it!!!!

Just got served this towards the end of business. Was already wrapped up. Wouldn't have minded so much but was charged full price and this was 2/3's of the bag. Shocking that they think that's okay to serve to someone!

Just had a takeaway of cheese & onion fry-it cheesy chips & peas & mixed kebab fish fritter & peas Only hot thing in the entire meal was the fish fritter Everything else was only just lukewarm Very disappointed Will not return

Haven't tried the food. Went the as the info on Google states that they are open from 11.30am however when I got there at 3pm one of the employees that was stood outside told me it was not open until 4pm.

Just got home but no chips in bag FFS fish and peas and kebab and salad it's is then

Kebab meat was horrible, it had no taste. Cops were nice though.

I have being going for years. All the staff are pleasant and always like to talk.. never had an issue with the food. Typical local chip shop

Warning to all .!! Do not have the chicken curry was so tasteless and burnt to smitheries chips was average avoid .!!

The staff were nice, the cod excellent, the sausage & chips good. I'll be coming here again. :)

Long wait time for a large and small chips, both portions pretty much the same size (tiny for the cost) Cost a small fortune, cold mushy peas and curry sauce. Avoid or be prepared for disappointment.

Got food poisoning from the fish... stomach was in bits and couldn't move for 2 days, it's a shame as I heard all the good reviews and was looking forward to trying the kebab next time. Maybe when I get over the fear of getting poisoned again I may try the kebab and update my reveiw.

Been in to get our tea fishcake chips beans steak pie chips peas and the price was so pathetic I payed 7 pound more than usual how come it was that much 😡😡 but the meal was good its just the price way to high shop around now

Usually good but went in today and got a house special looking forward to my chips and got about ten. Was that some kind of joke?

Just spent £20 and asked for extra onion. Got no onion at all. Perhaps the girl serving should stop watching Emmerdale and do her job instead.

Best fish and chips I know in Chesterfield

In hygienic, the staff don't where hair nets or any head covering of any sorts. There was a young girl on the till, the owners granddaughter openly handling bread cobs and handling coin's as well Which transfere more germes through cross contamination than anything else. Plus there are NO food handling certificate's on show for proof of training in food handling also having someone under 16 year's of age working with out training of any sorts. Reported to food standards at Chesterfield Borough Council. No wonder they only have a 2 on the rating.

The Fish and Chips are lovely from here it is just a, shame they do not cater for Gluten Free like other fish and chip shops in the area do.

First choice for fast food. The staff are great here and very friendly. Fully recommended.

When the owner is there everything is spot on but when hes not there the staff dont give a toss and stand about talking knowing your waiting

The food is only just eatable and the Donna cabab has no taste except for pepper. Cheap grade meat. Won't go again...

One of the best chippys in Chesterfield, fish is always good, staff are very helpful and friendly, we won't go elsewhere.

I am just getting better from an illness. I just had a hankering for 2 fish cakes for my supper, the type in breadcrumbs. no chips (although I did get chips for my wife). The fish cakes seemed to be 'domestic size, rather than chip shop - about 2 inches across. I was surprised... but not as surprised as I was to find I was given 3... 2 of them looked old, crushed and scorched from the heat. I threw them away, took a bite of the one good one and it was horrible. No repeat visits from me. Wife threw her chips as well, they looked ok, but she lost confidence.

This place has gone downhill over the past few years. Last few times I've had fish it was vile - Greasy stodgy batter and dry overcooked fish. Also when ordering the house special it depends on who serves you to how much meat etc you get. Some servings are ample whilst others are not. Pretty dissapointed as it was a good chippy years ago !!

Awful fish and chips. I was given a thin slither of battered fish that looked and tasted like it had just come out of an Iceland freezer. The chips were tough, dry and lifeless. I cannot recommend as they're clearly doing everything at the lowest possible cost and that shows with the poor quality food. I won't be returning. Edit: missing comma.

Nice chips but some of the staff arnt very generous with their portions.

Great chippy. All the staff are friendly and you always receive a warm welcome. A very good choice on the menu to note are the lunch time special which is served until 2pm, this includes mini fish, chips, sausage or fish cake with a choice of peas, beans, gravy or curry. Also worth noting is the house special mixed kebab priced at just over £5. This is a huge portion served with chips salad, mixed meat and pitta.

I take my mum every week, it is our treat. The staff are friendly and helpful, they treat my mum ( who has dementia ) like a real person and to top it off the food is always wonderful, well done to all the staff x

We are regular customers of the shop and I have mixed opinions of the quality here. like today . There was 3 staff members in the front one on cooking two on serving even after per ordering haddock like they ask us to do we still had to wait 15 after the 10 stood waiting (we straight away ask if they have any haddocks in. If not could they please put one in.) The two girls serving were chatting to each other whilst the other one kept disappearing. Not only are the fish and chips overly greasy but cold to. Some meals we've had come upside down. When we've ordered cheesy chips we've had to melt the cheese at home ourselves. Some days the service and quality is excellent but that is usually when the manager is in.

Amazing value and good quality. No complaints here at all. Staff are fabulous too. Well done.
